Cool, now can we have anything other than Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword in this? 95% of everything in this game is a love letter to those games. Let's see some Majora's Mask characters or some love to some of the handheld games, or have your freaking ninja character be playable!

Well, we probably have at least 20 more characters to go through.

Im not expecting them to short out on majoras mask, or other titles.

630x.jpg
uCrnoRZl.jpg

I know these arent playable characters, but if we are getting weirdo stuff like agitha, you can be garunteed we are going to see characters like skull kid with majoras mask and majora.

And impa at first glance may have a more skyward sword face design/hair, she is very clearly not the impa from skyward sword. Its actually a very pronounced difference.

Impa.png
hyrule_warriors_second_character.jpg

Skyward sword impa has very, very pronounced facial features, including a large forehead, an almost Gerudo like nose, and is incredibly tall, (about 2-3 feet taller than hyrule warriors impa), has a very long neck, looks like it was designed after the neck lengthening women who use weighted neck hoops like she wears, although not as extreme, with only 3 hoops making for the incredibly long neck, and is incredibly gaunt, despite wearing very loose clothing. ANd of course their are the tattoo differences. Skyward sword impa has the sheika symbol on her forehead and a tear drop tattoo on her left eye, and blue lips. Hyrule warriors impa has a fang like tattoo, and then eyelash tattoos on the left eye, reminexcent of the eyelash tattoos on oot impa, except red and only on the left eye. Hyrule warriors impa face is much shorter and more round than skyward sword impa's face. They do have similar hair, though ss impa is blonde, and hyrule warriors impa is platinum haired.

The uniform is also far more reminescent of a take on OOt impa's armor. Impa looks like shes taken from OOT, instead of skyward sword, just with a veryblessed amaziballs redesign instead of a direct take on oot Impa's hideous god awful design with the clown lips.

You can also be garaunteed shadow link, which would be a Zelda II plug.

#295078 Hyrule Warriors will not support online co-op

Posted by 3Dude on 05 August 2014 - 05:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Not necessarily. Coop online is fun too.

Definately a bigger fan of co-op than vs. But I think that has more to do with weeding out crapstain people who purposefully flock everything up instead of actually playing the game, than inherent game design.

#295054 Hyrule Warriors will not support online co-op

Posted by 3Dude on 05 August 2014 - 11:35 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Well that's another reason not to buy the game. Nintendo continues to refuse to get with the times.

Good game design is timeless, and something online co-op can never, ever, ever replicate. Roof shingles are NOT a foundation.

So... HMMMMMMMMMM....

A game whos new designs and mechanics crap all over every other entry in the series from space.... Or another entry of the same old crap from the past decade, but with online co-op. HHHMMMMM..... Online made from a foundation of fecal matter, or superior game design without online co-op.

HHHHMMMMMMMM....

There is a reason the last dynasty warriors game I bought for more than 3 dollars in a bargain bin was when the psp launched. And its not online play.

Didnt Dynasty warriors 8 take the series to online story co-op? (Aside from the obviously named dynasty warriors online...)

Wonder what the real reason is. Probably Nintendos lack of servers in comparison to sony or ms.

lmao at the twitter responses. I think.... They may want online Nintendo.

Ok, so the online connectivity has been detailed.

In adventure mode, there is a spotpass system dubbed 'Network LINK' hur.

This sends other peoples links, of their level and items and whatever, onto your adventure map somewhere. Should come across and aid the AI link from someone elses systems in battle, you will get bonus stuff.

Honestly though, that is 100% a KOEI design. I dont think team ninja is even working on anything asset wise. If you are going to put team ninja on something, and another team on something, putting team ninja in charge of the coding for gameplay mechanics is a no brainer.

Suprised. Warriors games never look this nice. Not groundbreaking but still pleasing to the eye. Warriors games often look pretty rough.

I honestly was not expecting any improvement at all because of this... consistant precedence.

The main difference I can clearly see is the lighting has been overhauled. I do notice other graphical changes. But the difference in lighting really sticks out. Shame I won't get this becauseI don't enjoy this hack n' slash gameplay. Which is why I won't get Bayo2

The genre gymnastics of the erroneous title of 'hack n slash' at the hands of the ignorance is a decade old pet peeve of mine that just wont be put to rest.

I blame gamz girnoliz.... And literalism.

The warrior series is a beat em up.

Platinum games makes action games, specifically character action games.

Hack n slashes are the combat of games like diablo, wow, everquest and other simulated/automated combat of games derived from table top rpg's of no substance or value beyond shallow combat. Its specifically vapid and meaningless. The combat is by far the worst part, being an act that is simulated (click on monster guy gows up and hacks at it), as they were designed to merely be means to an end, with the main draw being a vast world to explore, or a strong story... Except hack n slashes stop at the combat...

Now, thats not to say those GAMES per say are, just that the combat system, would be applicable if the correct criteria for the rest of the game is met.

Named after d&d players who made campaigns that were nothing but battles, and no role playing... Despite battling being a practically worthless mechanic on its own. You rolled fricking dice. Those campaigns, were called hack n slash. Videogames that follow similar vapid design, focusing soley on combat, without an actual combat system like an action game, also came to be called hack n slash.

It doesnt actually have anything directly to do with the act of melee fighting in a game.

Some different items, but no swords? I guess you'll just have the one sword then, Master Sword is my guess.

No, there are multiple swords, but this is a side mode, not the main game.

The Famicom arrangement for reference to the extra sound channels not used in the nes theme.

I like the famicom chimes better than whatever synthesized 8 bit instrument hw was going for... Except they are obnoxious in the beginning. Aces around 1:30 when they drop an octave.

Shame the nes got gimped so hard compared to the famicom.

#295504 Hyrule Warriors Adventure Mode nostalgia!

Posted by 3Dude on 11 August 2014 - 04:48 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Didn't know that. To be flat honest the first note you hear at the 18 second mark in the Video I posted of HW. Sounds just like a PC Engine CD sound. Heard a few very much like it. So got me more nostalgic for Turbo CD than Zelda lol

Yeah, the famicom and nes hardware is actually virtually identical, same exact processors and everything, the difference is the pins in the cartridge slot, the famicom had an audio in and out pins that went to the cartridge, meaning if you put an extra processor on the cartridge, like a sound chip, you can use it in tandum with the nes audio.

Well, at 72 pins, the nes had 12 more than the famicom, unfortunately, they were mostly used for the nes security chip, while the expansion pins were routed to the belly expansion port. which were commercially never used.

You can, in fact, mod the nes to in fact use the extra sound channels rather easily, with a famicom cartridge converter, resistor (47k, however I used a 100k pot so i could adjust the volume) a capacitor and a little wire. You basically need to get Famicom cartridge pin 46 to expansion port 3.  To do this, you route Famicom pin 46 to NES pin 18 (using wire, resistor, and capacitor) in your cartridge converter.  Pin 18 goes to expansion pin 40, which isn't what you want.  So, you connect expansion pin 40 to expansion pin 3.

Unfortunately, while i modded my nes... I have yet to get a famicom game to try it....

The-Warios.jpg

Honestly, I dont mind the WW lack in hyrule warriors. There is only so much you can do at once, and I would rather they focus on a set goal and do it really well, than try and cram everything in at once and have quality suffer.

Besides, We need material for HW2!

She just seems like a generic anime character in the Zelda universe, it looks so out of place.

She really does look out of place. I do like her moves though, but I think she would be better replaced with maple, or her new albw incarnation, or any other magician sage in an actual zelda game.

Or a costume/face expression design that at least looks like it came from the same school of thought/design as the rest of the cast.

#294613 Hyrule Warriors

Posted by 3Dude on 31 July 2014 - 08:10 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Did you miss Nintendos e3 or something? The hours of tree house footage is what kicked off interest in the title as something other than musou with zelda skin. And they havent been letting up since.

The only way I can see someone who claims to have your viewpoint AND has actually looked into the game is if the only thing you saw was the reveal trailers or the character/weapon trailers, which specifically only show the basic movesets and specials on a group of shut off mobs.

I dont recall other musou titles having massive monsters with completely foreign movesets and ways to figgt from anything out of any musou game, like dragons and dodongo kings.

Nor having an all new on the fly sub weapon system, that not only interact with the environment (bombs open new paths shortcuts, hidden areas, hook shot grants access to second teir areas, hidden areas) But integrate into combos and have their own specials, like mega bombs, or pulling majoras moon out of the sky.

Nor do I recall these sub weapons being findable via chests, which you have to find. Along with other hidden items like new. main weapons for characters which give them completely different play styles.

While in contrast, the vast majority of most musou games hundreds of characters are reskins, often with differences akin to a smash bros clone. Each individual character in hyrule will have more content depth than dozens of characters typical in musou games.

Nor do I recall other dynasty warrior games having puzzles like crystal switches to access/shut access to areas.

Or stuff like this for unlocks/customization upgrades/currency:

http://images.euroga...y/80/format/jpg

I mean, a basic google search brings up endless articles like eurogamer saying things like:

' Hyrule Warriors looks like quite the
departure for the 28 year old series. '

Your post doesnt just seem incredibly outdated, but with the vast amounts of lists of directly contradictory information from any basic google search, it seems rather hard to believe you did any kind of looking in, but rather:

' I really am not excited at all for this game. As
far as I've heard it's just another Dynasty
Warriors game but with Zelda skins slapped on
it. '

This is most likely the literal truth. As far as you heard. And the narrative you were more than comfortable with mantaining.

Your 'question' was all but completely posed as rhetorical.

I mean you come in here, bump the thread, say you are not remotely interested in the game. Fine, whatever thats fair enough. Then you instantly defend your statement with blatant fallacies, stated specifically as hearsay through the grape vine (because thats SOOOOOO reliable and accurate when it comes to anything nintendo) and then you, in the form of a thinly veiled 'question' challenge anyone to show this isnt the case, despite you just saying how much you know about the game, and how you know better than to be excited for this and how you know its just a lame cash in....

I mean the whole reason this thread was made is, because, that was the date, after e3 and the treehouse, verybody was surprised by nintendo showing hw WASNT a zelda skin over musou like gundam or one piece.

And then you come in straight from last year, with two giant paragraphs defending how you know all about the game while spewing off generic hearsay and 'asking' US to show YOU otherwise. But you already know all about it.

#294611 Hyrule Warriors

Posted by 3Dude on 31 July 2014 - 05:58 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I really am not excited at all for this game. As far as I've heard it's just another Dynasty Warriors game but with Zelda skins slapped on it. Is there anything new or inventive about this title that makes it better/different from the Dynasty Warriors game we already have on the Wii U - Orochi Warriors 3 Hyper? I've played a lot of Dynasty Warriors games on past consoles but don't own/don't plan to buy Hyrule. If I do buy one of them I'm leaning towards Orochi over Hyrule because it's a more mature title and claims to have 130 playable characters. Haven't played Orochi but I'm guessing Hyrule will have better graphics as Orochi on Wii U is a port so that could make me reconsider.

Not really sure how to approach this, as your quantifiers for quality seem exceptionally pedantic and contrary to game quality in favor of cosmetic fluff.

The game is already shaping up to be considerably different from other warriors games, from the fundamental combat being handled and reworked by Ninja gaidens team ninja instead of the usual musou team, and the world design style being redesigned to take into account adventure game exploration and discovery elements.

But typically people content to listening to hearsay dont really care whats actually happening and just want to reinforce their preconceived bias, otherwise they would have looked into it themselves with earnest.

So....

Yes, it is already apparent the game is considerably better looking than ps360 musou games. But like every musou game, its graphics are pretty mediocre for the system, although the art design is a notable leap over anything from dynasty/samurai. So if you want mediocre graphics on wii u that are better than mediocre graphics that came from ps360, there you go.

Not my type of game. It still sucks to me.
Looks like a rebranded dynasty warrior.
I think there was even a metal gear solid like this.

Idk why game makers take there series so far away from what it use to be.

I swear to Tholtig you best not be talking about platinums metal gear rising revengeneance.

#288712 HUGE Wii Virtual Console Issue.

Posted by 3Dude on 08 June 2014 - 11:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

Someone else had a similar problem a little while back. IRC, if you change your resolution to 480p and then start wiimode, this should resolve the issue.

EDIT: Ah, I see you already resolved the issue. Hope a more convenient fix comes up soon.

Interestingly enough I do not have this problem with DVI input to my tv.
