#311037 My pitch for the NX - commercial

Posted by Penguin101 on 26 March 2015 - 11:26 PM in General Gaming

Oh because PC architecture is sooooo terrible. Yeah all the developer's who use developer friendly architecture say Hi, and goodbye to the Wii U.

As someone who actually now has a job in the industry, I can tell you that from a development point of view, new controls and extra screens brighten up our day. Do you know how horrendous developing a game is? Day in and day out building the same rainbow for sometimes YEARS on end, testing, building, testing, building on the same god damn stuff. When something new and exciting comes along we're all god damned relieved to work on something fresh. What we horsing HATE is when we hit something like Nintendo's unique architecture. Something that usually works doesn't, framerates drop below 14 frames. And Nintendo provide bullocks ALL technical support. So NEVER tell me what developers want. It's Nintendo hipster like YOU that makes third parties glad they aren't taking Nintendo fans money and giving their products to people who appreciate their art.

#311034 My pitch for the NX - commercial

Posted by Penguin101 on 26 March 2015 - 10:53 PM in General Gaming

Ok imagine this. It sounds farfetched, but I think its believable and within the realms of possibility.

---

First person view

A 20 something guy is playing a new 3D Super Mario game on what looks like a Wii U gamepad, but it';s slightly different, analogue triggers, brighter, clearer touchsreen, and slight indentations on all the controls. His alarm goes off for his dentist appointment on his smartphone.

He pauses the game and walks over to the TV and plucks the NX system out of its charging cradle, opens it up and resumes his game where he left off, and continues playing outside on route to the dentist appointment.

Cut to after its darker now on the bus and a low battery symbol warns him he's on low battery. He simply TWISTS OFF the second screen and the game switches to just being played on the bottom screen. The battery life rises roughly 20%

We then cut to show that both the NX gamepad and the controls on teh main portable are modular and can either be swapped for circle pads to full on analogue sticks, you can even pimp them out with SNES N64 and gamecubed themed buttons, alongside faceplates which can bet swapped!

We then cut to Nintendo's logo and the NX's name.

---

Would you buy this console. Say if they had a basic that wasn't backward compatible due to its x86 architecture, and a pro one that came with a gamepad, charging dock that allowed on TV play, and backward compatibility? I'd probably also have a preview at the end of all the launch games, especially push the third party support too. Such as people playing the full console version of Battlefield 5 on the subway against each other locally or playing GTA6 on TV and then on the bus. Or something

#310862 If nintendo uses X86 on their next console, will you buy it?

Posted by Penguin101 on 22 March 2015 - 12:22 AM in Wii U Hardware

My god what an idiotic question, of course I would, the Wii U having stupid architecture didn't stop me enjoying and buying a Wii U!

#310861 Official Nintendo Software Emulation Question

Posted by Penguin101 on 22 March 2015 - 12:18 AM in Wii U Games and Software

In theory, with Nintendo's precise knowledge of their hardware. If the NX was backwards compatible with say 3DS (portable mode), GC, Wii (tv mode), and Wii U digital eshop titles. BUT was using AMD x86 architecture - could Nintendo's genius technicians find a way of perfect software emulation of these digital downloads (with button mapping to the NX) without the general rule that emulation requires many times the power to do so?

Just theoretically is it impossible? Or if anyone could do it would Nintendo be able to do it?

#310811 Poll edition: desires for next Nintendo console

Posted by Penguin101 on 20 March 2015 - 12:31 AM in Wii U Hardware

Let them do either two things, make a portable PS4 that's $250. Or make a 4k home console system that's $500

#310716 What do you want (or expect) the next home console to be?

Posted by Penguin101 on 18 March 2015 - 10:42 AM in Wii U Hardware

I'll say this once and I'll say it quickly

Fusion DS: Next Generation AMD mobile APU containing GPU capable of 1.5TFLOPS of calculations
8 core 1.5 Ghz next gen AMD mobile CPU
10GB of mobile RAM 2GB for OS
Wifi and 4G sim capabilities (network free)
64GBhigh speed cartridge for games
32GB SD card
Charging dock contains HDMI out, and 4 USB 3.0 ports when charging Fusion DS capable of playing games on TV
Uses Wii U gamepad as a controller when being played on TV compatible with Pro Controller

Fusion DS Pro: Contains the above and New 3DS guts alongside Wii U guts to make it 3ds digital download compatible. Scheme in place for those who own physical copies registered with Nintendo to get discounted digital copies of Wii U and 3DS games

Oh and a 128GB microSD card

#290532 Star Fox is super early, Nintendo looking for outside dev to actually develop it

Posted by Penguin101 on 16 June 2014 - 11:21 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Btw nobody saw my previous thread, but Project Giant Robot and Project Guard are both StarFox gameplay demos for Giant Mecha levels and levels where you control multiple air wings!

#290531 The Wii U is actually portable!

Posted by Penguin101 on 16 June 2014 - 11:19 AM in Wii U Hardware

Today I had my first day at work and I had to commute on a coach. i just so happened to have my Wii U with me with MK8, and I just so happened to sit in a seat with a wall socket. I plugged it in, and the coach powered the console, and of course the gamepad had enough battery life to last the 45 minute commute. Needless to say i'm very happy and thought I'd let you know that I presume due to the low power usage of the Wii U the coach wall sockets can handle a Wii U easily, and technically you can play off tv games out and about on long train and coach journeys - so long as there's a wall socket!

#290375 Is Shy Guy a Cat?

In Mario Kart 8 he kind of meows? Thoughts?

#290214 Project Guard and Project Giant Robot both StarFox

The part where he talks about piloting a giant Robot from a helicopter, and talks about controlling multiple airwings finally sounds interesting!

#289875 Zelda U Protagonist - Your Opinion?

Posted by Penguin101 on 11 June 2014 - 10:55 PM in Wii U Games and Software

As much as I love the idea of a female Link, I don't think this Link looks feminine enough to actually be. You would think they would give more visual cues.

Like this? ;p

#289548 Captain Toad Appreciation Thread

Posted by Penguin101 on 10 June 2014 - 09:50 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Am I the only one almost more psyched for the Captain Toad game than Smash bros?! He's like a super cute Solid Snake! <3

What do you guys think of Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker?

#289391 Zelda U graphics thoughts

It looked absolutely great! Yet, this was just an ingame or cg render. Am looking forward to see gameplay

Confirmed ingame :)

#289383 Zelda U graphics thoughts

Posted by Penguin101 on 10 June 2014 - 11:07 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I loved it. people compare it to Skyward Sword and Wind Waker, but anyone notice that teh water looks more like Twilight Princess?

#289170 Star Fox, anyone?

Posted by Penguin101 on 10 June 2014 - 07:04 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm sorry to be the party pooper, but i think Miyamoto is losing his touch, I'm thoroughly disappointed by the motion controls. The games don't seem innovative enough for my standards, and they all look visually boring. I was expecting something so much better. I really wanted to rejoice, I really did but looks like the only thing that will be decent in this digital event is Zelda U :/

Who thought looking at security cameras would be a fun thing? Rock em sock em robots looks visually unpleasant and motion controls sound terrible and forced, and Starfox just looks boring. Just empty spaces and visually looks like a Wii game upscaled

I will reserve ultimate judgement for the Digital Event though

#287890 Wii U OS 5.0

Posted by Penguin101 on 02 June 2014 - 11:14 PM in Wii U Games and Software

So now the quick launch has been installed, does it now seem loading times are now back to their original 20 second state? Or is there somethingwrong with my Wii U?

#287742 Wii U hardware sales up 666% in UK

Posted by Penguin101 on 02 June 2014 - 08:35 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I will wait for the VG Chartz to tell us, but it could mean over 200, 000 sales worldwide for just a few days work!

#287657 What Would You Rate MK8

Posted by Penguin101 on 01 June 2014 - 03:48 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'd give it between an 8 and a 9 out of 10. There needs to be battle arenas, as local battle mode sucks hard. I'd like to see less or NO coin boxes, there's plenty of coins on the track! I'd like to see further improvements in the future with anti-aliasing and the addition of removing two player split screen. Give us player one on the TV and player 2 on the gamepad. Possibly extend this to 3 and four player mode. I prefer the old style split screen putting player one at the top and player two at the bottom if two player split screen can't be achieved on gamepad and TV (which is dumb since this is one of the cool reasons I support the idea of a gamepad!)

I also want to see Smash Kart DLC pack: Starting off with Kirby, Link, Samus and Captain Falcon all with their associated tracks and karts.

Double Dash Mode DLC: Player one on Pro/Wii Wheel) Player two with gamepad in first person mode firing the shells etc. Online and Two Player (Team) only to save the framerate from dying a hideous death.

#287053 Mario Kart 8 Free Mercedes-Benz GLA DLC

Do a deal with Universal and give us BTTF DLC - The Delorean in anti-grav mode - beautiful! :D

#286529 Hyrule Warriors to be released in Japan - 14th August

Posted by Penguin101 on 25 May 2014 - 12:56 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The main difference I can clearly see is the lighting has been overhauled. I do notice other graphical changes. But the difference in lighting really sticks out. Shame I won't get this becauseI don't enjoy this hack n' slash gameplay. Which is why I won't get Bayo2

#286066 Nintendo confirms NFC figurines for Super Smash Bros. Wii U.

Posted by Penguin101 on 22 May 2014 - 07:05 AM in Wii U News

I'm hoping that they're going to bring out a Mario galaxy 3 style game where you can load characters like Link and even Bayonetta into it. Maybe even allow these figures into Mario Kart and at least some into NSMBU and SM3DW so you pay $12 for a figurine BUT it counts as DLC for lots of nintendo games

#286055 Godzilla!

Posted by Penguin101 on 22 May 2014 - 03:14 AM in The Café

I thought the name of the film was Godzilla, not spend your time with the most endearing boring people on earth with poor acting skills

#286054 Hyrule Warriors to be released in Japan - 14th August

Posted by Penguin101 on 22 May 2014 - 03:00 AM in Wii U Games and Software

My guess is this is the artstyle for Zelda U, but I'm hoping for more visual details on character models and backgrounds for the main game alongside more impressive effects such as lighting, water, particles, fire etc. But as far as art style this is bang on "not realistic and not cartoony "

#285991 Zelda U possible title confirmed?

Posted by Penguin101 on 21 May 2014 - 01:43 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Wait what? I don't get your response.

You asked why wouldn't you want any game to be max graphics, If every developer worked on that philosophy then every Wii U game would look amazing. The fact is very few developers do that
