#88270 What Consoles do you have?

Posted by eugoreez on 17 June 2012 - 10:05 AM in General Gaming

hi.. im new here.. i see lots of forumers here are returning nintendo customers i guess.. from the wii has most votes.. haha.. not that i have problem with it or anything, im just saying :P

well, if wii u is released, it'll be my first nintendo console that i owned.. i played nintendo consoles before, like snes and gameboys, but those weren't mine.. and i was small back then.. i dont have a very fond memory of them.. haha

so the first console i owned is the PSone, pretty late in its life, which marks the start of my serious gaming life, and then the ps2 (few years before ps3 release) and ps3..

i don't own a wii, because back then i thought, wii is too focused on motion controls, which by any means is super cool.. but i also want a relaxed gaming, where i can sit on the couch like a slouch.. so i get the ps3 instead, planning to get wii sometime later (which i didn't because of money =_=).. and wii u was announced last year, which got me super excited.. it offers me the couch gaming i wanted, with extended experience with the tablet gamepad, and backward compatibility with the wii.. instant win to me.. :D

a japanese rpg would be nice... it's been too long since I played a good one... The screen could be the best enhancer for this genre

#92819 Wii U CPU confirmed (by respected game producer) As weak.

Posted by eugoreez on 10 July 2012 - 08:22 AM in Wii U Hardware

Then they're going to hate an 8-core processor running at 2Ghz for the Xbox 8, and Sony's 4 core APU running at 3.2hz :P

didn't the xbox 8 is rumored to have the similar IBM's processor? or is it the same as what you are saying? =_= I didn't pay attention to specs that much.. If so yeah, they will hate it

#88276 So, Uh- I think I might want a PS4? [Wii U Hardware stuff]

Posted by eugoreez on 17 June 2012 - 10:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

how the hell does thread turned into apple argument? =_=

anyhow, don't be to concerned with the wii u hardware.. based on the arkham city graphic comparison (not really good quality though, but still), you can see some difference in terms sharpness, particle effects.. to me it is better on wii u.. with reference to my experience, gaming on the pc.. though we cannot say how it fares in the cpu processing (how many items, processes can it handle at one time etc.)

and one more thing, is the price... do you think, you can get a monster gaming machine, comparable to today most powerful pc without having to fork out, over $600 - $1000? ok I admit i am bad guessing prices, it is not the currency i always use anyway, so i am not familiar with pc components prices in the US.. but as far as i know, $600 is a lot to spend...

think about it for a second, for those who build pc, i believe $350 and above for graphic card is considered a price for high end graphic card.. correct me if im wrong.. a price of a console should already be around this price, just to include a high end card.. yeah, putting in the possibility of them using a customized chip with similar performances and what not, with special "bulk" prices.. it could be lower or higher, but i dont think it can be that far of differences, like a $100 - $150 off... unless, you know, there is something in business that i don't know that this kind of thing can be done.. that still does not include the processor, the ram, the input media, the exclusive shenanigans they have to put in to make the console sell... and in my observation (comments, hearsay), anything around $300 is "affordable" for gaming console

i believe, nintendo is trying to play safe here... make something that is cheap, but can sell itself without having years of losses.. and i think wii u hardware can be compared to the mid range pc currently.. which i think not that bad if its true.. still a lot of potential.. and console is supposed to be an easy and cheap way to game.. why strain your customers just to get ahead of the hardware game.. yeah it can be future proof.. but in business standpoint, company like nintendo could already have enough profit to develop new console, by the time your hardware superior console is starting to make profit... well i wouldn't know for sure, im just saying..

#90636 Crytek: Wii U is 'minimum as powerful as Xbox 360'

Posted by eugoreez on 28 June 2012 - 10:33 PM in Wii U Hardware

What do you mean "ONLY" 48% more powerfull that is a lot actually
just sayin

an almost half-time more powerful? nope.. not a lot

#91615 Crytek: Wii U is 'minimum as powerful as Xbox 360'

Posted by eugoreez on 03 July 2012 - 04:26 AM in Wii U Hardware

I don't want to be a douche but I see a very big difference between playing on PS3 and on my PC (1080p Ultra 60fps).

Also I don't think BF3 graphics are that good. Explosions needs a big improvement and just the whole world looks cartoony.

I'm that kind of person who thinks graphics do very much to gameplay. Don't get me wrong. I don't need realistic graphics I just want nice visual. For example I think Pokemon Black 2 has better graphics than MW3 cause Black 2 is more artistically nicer.

It isn't just tech, it's the artist who creates stunning textures and models. Cool GUIs, advanced lightning.

But we will never have to focus that much on graphics. That is the component companies work. Then the rest is automatically there.

you mean art direction.. yeah, its true.. art direction is at least important as the graphics, if not more...

OK thanks for clearing that up he should of said what you just told me it can do everything the Xbox 360 can at minimum power settings. Was I the only one confused by that statement he made?

lol you are still confused.. it's like this

no one knows how powerful is wii u.. what we got now are all rumors.. some say weaker, same say 1.5 times more powerful bla bla bla.. but nothing is confirmed..

and this guy here said, it is not weaker... it is at least the same as current xbox OR stronger... capiche?

#91913 Wii U GPU specs confirmed

Posted by eugoreez on 04 July 2012 - 04:37 PM in Wii U Hardware

just what I thought... a ported already launched game couldn't possibly that much visually advanced.. there will be slight close up difference, but generally the same... unless they recode and optimize the whole thing...

nway, didn't they say the spec is subject to change? supposedly the newer dev kits could have better specs...

trading card games is pretty cool... if combined with the nfc functions.. it'll be a lot better.. you know, buy actual cards, scan on the nfc.. there you go :D

here is another one.. Fifa or any football games on the wii u.. imagine that you can change players and tactics on the fly using the screen, without having to pause the game.. I think this is a huge plus especially with in an offline multiplayer game with your friends....

i would do an image for this.. but i suck at image editing.. it'll take years.. lol

#94854 Nintendo has put themselves in a BAD situation

Posted by eugoreez on 22 July 2012 - 12:25 AM in Wii U Hardware

and you are forgetting something... developers who push too much into graphics and forget gameplay, are bound to kill themselves... do you know a high end graphics game cost as much as a movie costs? just look how many developers had to close down because their game sales did not break even.. yes, it is not a main factor for a developer to close down, but it contributes..

#95616 Nintendo has put themselves in a BAD situation

Posted by eugoreez on 25 July 2012 - 01:55 PM in Wii U Hardware

Nintendo really has put them selves in A bad position. Sony and Microsoft are making the screens optional so they can focus on power while still competing with nintendo and preventing them from stealing the audience, while nintendo is making the traditional controls optional so they can focus on gimmicks. Some people still think it's an add-on and not A full console. Nintendo's sealed for this next gen as A repeat if they don't make A Ps2 scenario. I know that i won't be getting it :P was going too but with all these rumours and risks i'd rather buy A different console and garauntee satisfaction with my purchases instead of taking pointless risks.

yeah, right. Don't be surprised if the nextbox come with the kinect built in and with a freakin AR glasses, have you been hearing rumors about that? of course you don't.

I cannot help but think this is just a consolized version of android tablet...

I dunno much about technology, but does android run on other achitecture other than ARMs? if not, then,, yeah.. it is useless..

#91832 New Console Coming To Challenge Wii U, PlayStation 4 And Next Xbox

No. Nintendo's devkits cost thousands.
You need a publisher to get on the eShop too, which take a huge cut of your sales.

Steve Jobs would be the one person holding Apple back from doing that.
I think it's more likely they'll see the money games is earning them now that he's gone.

You implying ARM isn't powerful?
MFW

nope.. im implying, if the console is only as powerful as the tablet, and does the thing the tablet does.. why would I get the console? hell, that thing is even hackable.. on an open source OS android... somebody could just pull whatever inside it and push it to another ARM devices... I own an Asus transformer, with the keyboard attachment.. with psone simulator app and USB controller, I literally turned it to a portable psone.. which renders the console pointless..

I don't see any benefits i can gain from average consumer standpoint.. aside from the the price... at least not yet.. developers could benefit from this, well maybe..

edit: after giving it more thoughts.. the ouya may be more suitable for a media consumption device, which streams the content to the tv.. a media hub.. instead of a pure gaming console with the ability of media consumption, it is a media consumption device with ability to play decent android games... which makes more sense to me... its like turning any tv to a google tv..

But it's android.
Would you really pirate a $1 game?

no not game pirating lol... I mean if the console had something special, ppl could just rip it off and put it on another device.. maybe tablets..

#93119 UNREAL 4 possible on Wii U

Posted by eugoreez on 12 July 2012 - 11:27 AM in Wii U Hardware

I'm not too happy about the fact he says they have "no intention to bring the engine to Wii U", however. I mean really, they're supporting it on phones, yet the Wii U is out of the question? And we still have to wonder whether these "ports" he talks about are going to be actually relatively equal to 720/PS4 versions or if they're just going to be downscaled to the point where it becomes an obviously inferior version...

Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but this doesn't exactly sound too good. I'm disappointed, Epic. -_-

you see.. Epic is trying to sell it's engine... they are trying to push everyone to buy the engine... so to use the engine, at high scale, it need good hardware.. it's not good if the hardware is too weak, it need to be scaled down so much, that its better to use unreal 3.. like some forummer here said, unreal 3.x can already achieve a batrainbow insane effects... I for one don't really care, but there are ppl who care and I respect that...

so why mobile phone? mobile phone become obsolete very fast... 100 times faster than console (exaggerating).. their hardware is continously changing.. apple bring out new device every year, with better hardware each release... as for android, there is always a new one almost everyday (exaggerating again, I know)! each with better hardware from before... so eventually, phones will be able to support better features of the engine.. so there is always increasing demand for better engines and graphics... not to mention the size of smartphone gaming market..

console on the other hand, stays on the same hardware for a long time... 6-10 years.. if the console can't use the engine, then Epic can't do anything.. the engine Epic build won't sell to the console developers... even so, there is always PC developers, why would Epic bother? I don't know.. I believe there are more developers for consoles rather than PC... even on PC, there isn't much games that use Unreal engine doesn't it? I don't know, please enlighten me on this..

so wii u is out, with not that much of a leap in hardware... of course Epic will be dissappointed... only Sony and microsoft is left.. from the rumor thats whirling about, microsoft may not pushing for that much better hardware too.. as for sony, who knows what is going on in their head... if you are on Epic side, I bet you'll be worried... I wonder how much profit did Epic gained from selling the engine.. I heard the price is 250k per licence.. well i don't know honestly...

there is one thing I hope, developers.. don't play on Epic's hand... high end graphics costs too much... you can see how many developers has died this gen... how many IP's has gone with it... simply because the break even sale point is just too high.. and ppl are very2 selective on a $60 games... just develop a with good enough graphics to suit the game setting, and good gameplay, and i'll be happy.. and I believe many would too...

this is my view on this... I could be wrong.. but, it's just seems too fishy... many developers died of high cost of game development.. but still they want to push it, making it even more costlier...

well that's it... turns out a long post

#93112 UNREAL 4 possible on Wii U

Posted by eugoreez on 12 July 2012 - 10:35 AM in Wii U Hardware

this is expected... ppl who are "if wii u can't run unreal 4, it's doomed for sure" is just paranoid or plain dumb... i've said before, engines can be tweaked/recode/changed etc to suit any device... scalable.. =_=

running the engine at full force might not be possible, hell, I think none of the next gen console will be able to... lets just wait n see...

#89668 I have a fear that the Wii U won't get great third party support

Posted by eugoreez on 24 June 2012 - 05:32 AM in Wii U Hardware

That defeats half the purpose of the Pro controller. If a company doesn't want to use any features of the GamePad, then just use the Pro.

yea kinda.. in my point of view, the pro controller is for the ppl mother whine about the "uncomfortibility" of the wii u game pad, if there is any..

it is an option to the consumer rather than the developer.. the lazy developer could just say "you can use the pro controller or the gamepad, it'll still be the same experience"
