#88983 Wii U Price Discussion

its leaked in german amazon as a 400 euro console.. NOBODY will buy it, except the nintendo lovers.. it is 200% more expensive than the current and it performs like it, with some better features.

as usual, is this not just a place holder...

#89717 3DS - Wii U Connectivity Speculation Thread

Posted by TomBollandLTD on 24 June 2012 - 12:11 PM in Wii U Hardware

StreetPass With Other 3DS Systems Through the Wii U Console, With No Local Contact

I think that the Wii U will allow you to effectively StreetPass your 3DS data with your friends without having to actually be physically near them.

  • Your Wii U console will download your 3DS StreetPass data.
  • Then Your Wii U console will upload your 3DS StreetPass data to your friends Wii U consoles.
  • Your friends’ Wii U consoles will download their 3DS StreetPass data.
  • Then your friends’ Wii U consoles will upload their 3DS StreetPass Data to your Wii U console.
  • Your Wii U console will then upload the StreetPass data that it downloaded from your friends’ Wii U’s to your 3DS system.
  • Your friends’ Wii U consoles will then upload the 3DS StreetPass data that they downloaded from your Wii U console to their 3DS systems.

Thus, you will be able to StreetPass with them without being physically near them by doing it through the Wii U console.

I think it'll work kind of the opposite of this. The Wii U data will be downloaded to the 3DS, then swapped when passed another 3DS. Identical to regular streetpass as we know it, just that the owner's Wii U would be included too.

They did run out of designs. It was called the 5th generation. I still can't get over some of them. A pile of garbage? That's a Pokemon now? LOL!

Don't start this argument...

Those look like Pokemon. You know why? Because they weren't based on real-life items.

#88985 What apps do you want on the WiiU

Posted by TomBollandLTD on 20 June 2012 - 11:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I don't really want loads of rubbish apps that will just clog the system and make it look just like another messy Android/iPhone.

I'd really like bbc iPlayer and all the TV catchup services we get in the UK though, as I don't have an internet enabled TV, or a PS3, or a way to connect my laptop which isn't a massive hassle :P

Oh, and the family pictionary thing sounds like a great idea for an eShop title!

#156233 ZombiU Questions (Tips or Tricks Welcome)

Posted by TomBollandLTD on 04 January 2013 - 08:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I've read a lot of people have had trouble defending the safe house. I'm nowhere near this bit yet, so any tips would be appreciated!!

So far the plan is to stock up on mines, grenades, flares and molotovs and use the turret. No idead if it'll work <_<

Turn right out of the doors and there's a part you have to crawl though, go there then you can just crush their zombie skulls with one hit as they're trying to get to you [:< but watch your back and keep your radar going!

#133782 Are people over-praising the Wii U?

Posted by TomBollandLTD on 19 November 2012 - 02:51 PM in Wii U Hardware

The memory speed and CPU speed are not known at this time.

Anandtech article is a joke.

that is all.

No one can over praise or under praise it until it has a chance to show its potential. Silly, unambitious (graphically) games like NSMBU and others don't mean anything. Ports of current gen games are only going to look like the same game those systems run.

The Power based CPU is a great move, the amount of RAM is great. the EDRAM is great. The GPGPU is great. the integration of everything is great, and the novel way in which games will be controlled is great.

I have seen undeserved criticism so far and a lot of assumptions made, but not cold facts that would lead to a denigration of the system.

So at least those (including developers on the record) who are "over praising" the Wii U can't be any worse than those hating on it based on assumptions... like anandtech with its erroneous info, assumptions and calculations of Wii U performance based off of consoles that aren't the wii( u or engadget (which likes to refer to Wii U's revolutionary, easy to use, and feature packed gamepad as "bizarre" every chance they get.)

I think I love you.

#149152 And this is why I returned the Wii U...

Posted by TomBollandLTD on 18 December 2012 - 04:09 AM in Wii U Hardware

1.) I must say that setting it up is a hassle for me, but that's because I'm a clean OCD freak and must was my hands very thoroughly before using it, lest I smudge and dirty the Gamepad. And yeah, looking down for a quick map isn't actually as handy as it was made to sound before the system launched. Finally, playing on the Gamepad is very handy be it on the couch while the TV is being used, or as you mentioned, in bed. This convenience is further driven home by just how surprisingly comfortable the Gamepad is. So for the most part, I definitely agree with you on these points.

2.) This I must respectfully disagree with however. It is bland in a sense, but it is also simple. I honestly get lost in the 360's menus because it's just so crowded. I still can't remember how to change backgrounds half the time, and don't even get me lying about how you move data. The Wii U's interface is very streamlined and this greatly enhances the experience of gaming in my opinion. The Miiverse is also a very clever idea. I'm not saying either of them are perfect however, and do hope that they update it a bit in the future. But I do not want the menus to ever become crowded.

As for your wish on more Mii customization, that would be nice to have. But having it like the 360's would not work quite as simply. The 360's works because they can charge you for the hundreds of clothes and whatnot. The Wii U's was built-in. And if it was as content-packed as the 360's Avatar section, I highly doubt anyone would want to browse through 20+ pages of noses for their Mii.

3.) Hrmm... I can definitely see the point here, but I also disagree to an extent. The only controller you really need for the Wii U is the Gamepad. You will never need anything else for a Wii U game. If you are delving into multiplayer like I'd presume most everyone would however, it does become an issue and that is lame a tad bit. Especially whenever you get into the peripherals of the original Wii. Oh goodness, the Wii Wheels, the Zappers, the Classic Controllers and Pros.. It really was overdone. But the point I'm trying to convey here is that you don't actually need any more controllers. You don't have to adapt to them unless you so choose.

(The original Wii-mote can either be painful to use, or the most comfortable controller ever depending on the game. Playing a game with your arms in a much more flexible position is quite nice with the Nunchuck - as long as you don't need motion controls.)

In the end though, I will say that I would not return the system. I don't enjoy it to it's fullest potential yet, but that's because it is premature and can't be. Once bigger games come out within even just next year alone I can see me greatly enjoying it. I completely understand the reasoning and motives behind selling yours though, and would not say you made a bad choice at all.

Good for you.

Eh, most of them are fair complaints. To simply call him a hardcore gamer because he has stated them is a tad senseless. By what definition of "Hardcore Gamer" are we talking? Because in my opinion a hardcore gamer is simply anyone who games a lot, and you can do that on you Wii, 360, PS3, or even PC. In my mind every single one is good for a hardcore gamer, because the term is silly and doesn't apply to any one system. What definition are you using to base your opinion of the 360 being a "hardcore" platform?

"If you don't have anything to add to a discussion, don't make a post like "I don't know what to say" or something just to boost your post count," fits quite nicely here, wouldn't you say?

I wouldn't say that they are pointless at all. In fact, they are almost all meaningful reasons. Sure I may disagree with them as a whole, but they are definitely good points.

Added:

Definitely. The Wii U has simply not come to its potential yet. The 360 is prone to be more enjoyable with the multitude of games on it. Later on down the road, five years from now I'm sure the Wii U will be the same though. Launches are just not meant for those who can not wait for games haha.

I still can't get over how much I love sensible and reasonable answers to sensible, reasonable gripes. I should probably thank the hurrduhh wiiu is rubbish internet briggade because when a nice discussion happens, it feels all the more better (:

#130861 How much space your Wii U actually has

Posted by TomBollandLTD on 16 November 2012 - 11:27 AM in Wii U Hardware

Considering the newest console I own is the Gamecube...

How much space do things like saved games and miis and so on actually us nowadays? Because to me, 4gb sounds fine if you're just a family, buying games on discs and having a few saves?
