#107917 wii u in the us sold out at gamestop.com/us site

Posted by FrostySweetness on 15 September 2012 - 06:32 AM in Wii U Hardware

Dang. I didn't expect it to sell out that fast tbh. I thought there would be more pre-order allocations, since Nintendo knows how big a hit the Wii was (and Nintendo systems during the Christmas season) period, plus it being an almost worldwide release.

Glad I got mine in. :D

Either that or these retailers are being cautious and limiting their preorder stock as they're not totally convinced that it will be a big hit.

Yeah, that can be possible too...that happens at times, especially when items are an hit, they want to be careful not to oversell on items.

It can also be that some places have run out an certain amount of the allocations and they want some on the shelf during Black Friday and release day.

Either way, it is a good thing! Good for those who caught one in time too, and those who haven't pre-ordered yet, I hope you find a store.

#107219 What I learned from pre-ordering the Wii U at gamestop

Posted by FrostySweetness on 13 September 2012 - 06:22 PM in Wii U Hardware

I wish the best for you all who are pre-ordering later on, but I think Nintendo knows the demand for this, especially if they plan on releasing for Black Friday in the US for the sales.

But yeah, I pre-ordered mine on Gamestop.com. Wanted to go ahead and get my order in there. I actually cannot wait for this console to release.

#107478 What games did U pre-order?

Posted by FrostySweetness on 14 September 2012 - 11:54 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I got Mario, Rayman, and Scribblenauts. Zombi U seems freaking awesome, I love the gameplay and wanna play, but I am too scared. xD

Still may end up picking it up.

I bought Corpse Party, a freaking anime horror survival game on the Vita on its lauch and I still am too punk to play it.

#168370 Ubisoft talks about future Wii U support

Posted by FrostySweetness on 07 February 2013 - 02:05 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, they do need to step up with marketing. I have never saw a Wii U commercial. But it is a general thing I have been seeing for video games period. No one advertises them anymore. I see Xbox 360 and PS3 console ads on tv from time to time, but almost everyone have those, and it is mainly just advertising a new model or something.

Then when games come out, developers are surprised to see their games not sell as well as they thought, unless it is a AAA title. A lot of people still do not look to the internet for their information on stuff...they still rely on television and word of mouth.

And about the platform exclusives thing, it has been true. Unless an title is first party, platform exclusivity is going away. Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Mass Effect, and other games that weren't multiplatform are going multiplatform. It is all up to Nintendo/Sony/MS to make their consoles worth buying and bring out the first party titles, which determines what console does people want.

I am excited to see what Nintendo brings to the Wii U in the future. With the news of them trying to help Japanese developers port their games over...every excited.

#109191 Should I sell my PS3 for a Wii U?

Posted by FrostySweetness on 17 September 2012 - 02:36 PM in Wii U Hardware

Is amazon even selling the Wii U? I can't seem to find it??

Yeah, he has a point...Amazon isn't selling the Wii U atm, unless you live in the UK or somewhere else. And I wouldn't even count on them either, especially by how long they been sketchy on the 3DS...I guess do them if this $227 is for your games and accessories.

I don't know what to tell you. Depends on how much you play your PS3 and want to just have a variety of games to play. I can't see me giving up my other systems because there is always going to be a game I want on a system...I'd say if you can make the money for it, just save the money and buy it.

#100038 Rumor:Nintendo's Achievements/Trophies name announced as Wii U" Accom...

Posted by FrostySweetness on 16 August 2012 - 04:07 AM in Wii U Hardware

I am like Killer Mario. I really don't care about achievements. To me, it is all about playing the game and enjoying it. I have and follow the other two consoles too and it annoys me when people on new releases get angry about the achievements/trophies either because they are not good enough, there aren't too many in the game, etc. It is like "Play the game, do you need a little trophy to keep you playing or make you feel better?"

I know not all people who care about them are like that, some people just like them, and it is a nice feature...I just had to get a rant out.

But back to Nintendo giving it to Wii U, go ahead! The more features, the merrier!

#170048 over before it began..

Posted by FrostySweetness on 10 February 2013 - 08:24 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, this doom and gloom stuff needs to stop. There has not been a console this current generation (or last since Wii U is in the newest generation) that has not had them articles and people around them speaking about doom and gloom. Nintendo been thru this other times, like with the 3DS...and they learned from the Wii. The Wii U will not fail. It is a new console. Since the Vita isn't the newest console that isn't getting any sales or any games, and people have already sucked that dry with doom and gloom, it is time for them to move on.

Developers need to make games for a platform in order for it to succeed. That's what they do not understand. More games = more people who wil have the Wii U to increase software sales on it. But Nintendo has been having horrible 3rd party support with mainly Capcom and Ubisoft being like the best companies behind them (and Ubi games are meh), and it seems like Ubi is breaking away...who cares, they suck anyways. But yeah, Nintendo will be just fine on it's own like it has been with the 3DS and Wii.

I am not going by anybody's word until stuff actually start to begin happening. Wii U is only a few months old, Nintendo isn't speaking doom and gloom yet...they have a plan, and things will work out.

And yeah, a mobile games developer cannot talk about smack. Lol, ain't like he is talking about "real" games. (I know games are games, but in my opinion, we console/ handheld console gamers are the true gamers damn it.) Most of us play games outside of the few minutes sitting on a bus, or waiting in a line, or something. We buy our games for way more, they are deeper, we invest in our games...shoot.

#170052 over before it began..

Posted by FrostySweetness on 10 February 2013 - 08:45 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Seriously? "True gamers?"

Do elaborate on how the source is any less of a gamer than you or I are. The games he plays? The games he makes? It's a ridiculous argument that reeks of elitism.

In any case, this is more than just some run of the mill "doom and gloom" thread. The problem is that there currently is no confidence in the console as of now. And we want to know why Western third parties hesitate in their support of the console.

It is just my personal belief. That's all about the "true gamers" bit. I forgot to put that in. I am just previously annoyed with reading an article a couple hours ago about how phone/tablet gaming is superior and will take out consoles and it moved over to this. It just is not going to happen.

It does say elitism...I can see how you portray that. But I myself will call someone who plays their tablet games on the train or somewhere for a few minutes, yet does not play any games at home a true gamer. There are all kinds of gamers, I am aware of, but in my opinion, the people who do that are just mainly filling their time. It is different if you play games on your phone and tablet, and you invest and buy console/ handheld consoles and gmaes.

But yeah, there just isn't any confidence in the Wii U. And as I just said in another thread recently that is is mainly about profit these days and how much their games will sell on the Wii U. Developers are just less likely to take risks, even though it takes games to build a games console, but Nintendo has lost some rep/trust with the Wii, and secondly, they see two other very successful gaming platforms which are less risky to develop for and more likely to turn up a good profit.

#107221 Official Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Discussion

Posted by FrostySweetness on 13 September 2012 - 06:27 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, I cannot wait for this to come out! I was like, "FINALLY!" Here's hoping it has online too.

But yeah, I want both versions too...hopefully they can do some kind of bundle deal for this, like Sony does for the PS3/Vita games, but that's their first party titles though, and MH is thru Capcom which I know won't give their consumers a deal...they hardly give us what we want.

#170051 No EA sports games for the Wii U !

Posted by FrostySweetness on 10 February 2013 - 08:36 PM in Wii U Games and Software

EA Sports will eventually come on the Wii U. I just think game developers do not like taking risks and producing for a platform in which their game will not sell on (or sell enough to get a pleasurable amount of profits). Especially with the games industry (or certain developers/ publishers) doing pretty poor at times with the layoffs and closings.

I believe when Nintendo builds up the Wii U themselves and it has awesome games, like the 3DS and lots of people own it, then EA and 3rd party developers will start making their games on it. It is getting frustrating though...seeing game after game announced and no Wii U version.

Sucks that games are about profits now and not about the gamers anymore. It is people, mainly execs who makes the decisions about what to put the game on and what not. I bet there are many developers who does want everyone to play their games that they worked so hard to make.

#168404 Nintendo I am running out of excuses for you

Posted by FrostySweetness on 07 February 2013 - 02:58 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Shiiii....I hate Origin and all those companies that need launchers in order to launch games. I hope it doesn't work their way onto consoles. What ever just happened to popping in a damn game and playing it? I don't want to pop in my game, then wait 50 years for the game to load due to the Wii U's abysmal loading times, then sign in onto origin, and start my game.

#168408 Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate online servers are region locked

Posted by FrostySweetness on 07 February 2013 - 03:00 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Wow, that freaking sucks. So I need to buy a EU console to play with my boyfriend's people, who really game, since he is from outside the US. I do not get why do they region lock servers...we should be past that. People these days have friends and family from all over the world, and this just makes things harder for them.

#184272 MH3 Ultimate pre-order came with Strat guide....

Posted by FrostySweetness on 19 March 2013 - 01:20 PM in Wii U Games and Software

That's nice.  An unexpected bonus.

Btw, has anyone who ordered from Gamestop.com, not in the stores, but on the website...

Have you gotten your code yet for the strategy guide?

I know that it says emailed within 1-2 days after release date but I want to read it now, and Gamestop is being slow lol.

#107066 Just got my pre order in

Posted by FrostySweetness on 13 September 2012 - 01:50 PM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah, I got my pre-order in too. I was refreshing Amazon at first to see if the page will come back up, since they removed it (here in the US) a while ago. It's still no page for it...but then, they really been having an issue with Nintendo systems lately for some reason.

I did get Rayman Legends pre-ordered and locked in at $50 before they raised the price back up to $60 as I had figured.

So Gamestop comes up with the pre-order page and I just got it pre-ordered at Gamestop. Mines was like $387 with tax, but if it may also be $390-something for me like Angelo07's ended up for him, then I may go ahead and do that. If Amazon ever does get a page, then I'll get it there to save on tax and shipping.

Overall, it's decent in my opinion like launch systems usually are, seems like a lot of fun though, especially with Rayman, The Awesome 101, Mario, and Zombi U...should keep me going for a bit.

#107488 is wii u going to fail what do you think or is it a hit?

Posted by FrostySweetness on 14 September 2012 - 12:05 PM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah, I liked the 90's....plenty of original games, even the Xbox/PS2/GC days were awesome. These days, it is the same darn franchises milked out...but I can't blame the companies. If I developed CoD and there are millions of blind sheep who buy the game each year no matter what, easy millions of dollars in profit, shoot...

But yeah, it is causing nothing but them to come out...we used to get more original games, JRPGs and stuff, but now they aren't coming as much anymore it seems cause most people want to shoot up things. I love all my consoles and all my genres, but people geezh...feels like I am being limited to shooters at times.

I love games like Mario, LittleBigPlanet, original stuff...fun stuff...games I can just have fun on, create, etc.

#107380 is wii u going to fail what do you think or is it a hit?

Posted by FrostySweetness on 14 September 2012 - 07:06 AM in Wii U Hardware

The Wii U is going to succeed, they got a list of launch day titles and launch window that will keep you going for a while. Yeah, some titles like Batman and Mass Effect has been out for a while on other consoles, but it's good for those who haven't played them or only had a Nintendo console to experience them. There are also great games with Zombi U, Rayman, Scribblenauts...stuff for all ages and kind of player, not just mainly kids and causal players anymore. I think Nintendo learned from the Wii and they want to aim for everyone...you can have a collection for yourself if you prefer shooters and more hardcore games, have a collection for your kids, and some for a party.

#107484 IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE GOING TO PRE-ORDER THE PREMIUM EDITION

Posted by FrostySweetness on 14 September 2012 - 12:00 PM in Wii U Hardware

I may go after I get out this class and put $25 down on a bundle...I got one onlien, but I like playing it safe...if my GS online order ships, then I'll cancel the store one I am thinking of pre-ordering. Or I may do best-buy. All I know is during these console launches, people get screwed over, even if they were number 3 at their store out of 50 with pre-orders.

#107220 Hands-On with Girlfriend Mode in Rayman Legends Wii U

Posted by FrostySweetness on 13 September 2012 - 06:24 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, I love the naming! But I wanted this game since they showed it at E3...looks like a lot of freaking fun!

#109787 Gamestop Pre Order

Posted by FrostySweetness on 18 September 2012 - 05:56 PM in Wii U Hardware

How would I apply trade in value towards this

Trade in your stuff at a Gamestop and ask them to put the trade in credit on a Gamestop card. Then use that card online when you purchase during checkout. Do not worry if you don't have enough...it will take the rest off your credit/debit card. It does not take the funds off it until it ships, so do not use that card.

I done this when I pre-ordered my Vita memory card.

#99979 GameStop Employee: "There will be no Wii U Midnight Launch(es) at GameSto...

Posted by FrostySweetness on 15 August 2012 - 04:19 PM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah, I wouldn't take his word...he can just be going by his personal opinion. I am the only person I know considering and pretty much will get the Wii U (or try to) on launch...most people I know are disappointed in Nintendo, with their choice in software, features, etc...the dude can just be taking his personal opinion and what others think about the Wii now, and just think there is no demand or little demand for the Wii U.

I believe Nintendo will have a midnight release...there will be demand for the Wii U. There already is. And I talked to an employee back before the 3DS launched and he said the midnight releases go by demand/ pre-order numbers.

#107996 Everything at Wii U launch

Posted by FrostySweetness on 15 September 2012 - 08:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah, the list is too broad but hey, it's a good one. I can't wait to know exact release dates of everything! :D

I doubt they'd have extra consoles at launch but they may have some, well speaking for the US on Black Friday even if it is a few held back ones for the shelves to draw desperate people to the stores. If you get them in there for one item they want, they most likely will buy other things, and some people probably wouldn't had came at all if it wasn't for the Wii U being available. It's a good strategy if so.

#168383 Even Rayman Legends Creator Protesting Wii U Delay

Posted by FrostySweetness on 07 February 2013 - 02:17 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Wow, this utterly sucks. Wii U barely has any games as it does already...it is starving for a new release. It sucked that Pikmin was pushed back, and it is a godsend that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is coming out early next month.

I am not getting the game at all. I would had gotten it at launch, then it was delayed to March, and I was like, "Meh, maybe". I get less excited for games when they are constantly pushed back to the point that when it is time for release, I am like, "I don't care anymore" or there is some other game. I was not even a huge fan of Rayman anyways...I just liked the gameplay they showed off and in the demo...that one stage with the drums and rock music.

But yeah, what a royal screw-over by Ubisoft. Promising this was going to be a Wii U exclusive...then delaying it for almost a year just not to make it one. Yes, it is business, but today business ethics just suck...more about money (way more) than customer satisfaction and loyalty.

I am not a fan of GTA, but the biggest hits come out in September-November.
