Yeah, I think target/walmart/toys r us were the last places to check since in the past they always did first come first serve...when people find out..they will fill up, or a lot of people may just show up not knowing they are doing pre-orders

Yeah good call. I just know the feeling of not being able to get that shinier new toy on Release day, especially when it's something as huge as the WII U.....i dunno about you guys, but I'm already losing sleep over this bad boy......any way to help people get it I'm down......like bill said, definitely try target, Walmart etc.....toys r us definitely still has presales also.

So, after the press conference I was really the fence about WII U, but after days of research I've come to the conclusion that WII U looks absolutely insanely awesome, and it is an extremely viable option if you are a serious gamer, but also just love Mario bros, zelda, an Nintendo in general. I really think with the pro controller it's going to garner so many of the 360ites, and ps3ers, aka ME, and have them hooked with the WII U.

Anywho, so yesterday morning I decided I needed to have this system, so I came on these boards and saw that someone posted that GameStop and best buy were sold out nationwide. I was devastated. I called, and Today, you can't even order the basic edition. Devastating news for me.


I looked everywhere, and it turns out Toys R Us is doing presales, and the one I went to, only had 4 presales of the deluxe already.


Just looking out for the guys who are still looking to preorder.......TRY TOYS R US QUICKLY!!!!

I called up EBGames (Australia) today and asked the minimum preorder deposit for the deluxe ($50, system costs $428 here which is surprisingly cheap for us, was expecting 600 myself.) I asked if they were running out and she said it's probable that I would be able to get one, but the deadline is a week before release. They don't seem to be selling out here, good news for me.

Pokey- I gottaaaa get my hands on Mario u, black ops, I believe Rayman is out on release day, if it is, definitely Rayman......definitely a pro controller....and Nintendo land with the deluxe edition.....that's what I'm thinkin right now....what about u guys?

I disagree with your mindset.
1. mario and zeldo = videogames. Nothing doing, they are what most people think of when someone says videogames. They do not need to be in their own classification. They are just some of the best videogames we've ever had.
2. who cares if drones and bots come over to nintendo's console, that'll only end in people calling others gay and whatnot over the console's voicechat.

I totally agree......but it's nice that someone like me....who is obsessed with nintendos exclusives, and grew up in the n64 era, can get this system and also be able to utilize games like black ops to its full potential with a pro controller, just like a 360 or ps3. Thats all I'm trying to say. It really is a best of both worlds console, or appears to be.

It would always kill me when I didn't have wii to play the new Zelda's and Mario's when they came out. I just wasn't into the whole motion thing, so I stuck with my 360.... This is appearing to be a great great console for someone like me.

I went in Friday afternoon to GameStop and was a little upset to hear that Deluxe models pre-orders were gone. After reading the news, I went back Saturday morning and just pre-ordered the Standard. I traded in my Wii + Games for $100, but I only put the minimum $25 towards the pre-order. I ordered all my launch games on Amazon (Zombi U, Mario U), and ordered my Pro controller from Newegg. I also secured a Deluxe pre-order from ToysRUs. If that one comes through from TRU, I will just cancel or sell the Standard one from GameStop.

If Newegg or Amazon open up pre-orders, I will cancel all my above plans and just order everything from them.

You did preorder it through them right? I did the same, but does that not guarantee me a console on release day?

Downloading now.......it's taking long....probably about 30-45 minutes total.....

So, here's the deal....preorders all good too go....but I clearly am freakin out waiting another 59 days, so I'm looking to maximize my time and money now etc...


GameStop is offering 130 for my ps3 and I have a couple options.....I could either

A. Go grab a wii for 150 which comes with super Mario, and a wii mote, and a numbchuck. This gets me accustomed to some Wii traditional gameplay, while also grabbing me a wii mote and numbchuck.

B. trade it in towards pro controller, and games( keep in mind I will definitely be getting a pro controller either way plus games. This won't change what I'm getting on launch day.)

The wii mote and numbchuck is 60 bucks, so if I go grab a Wii, I do save money in that sense. But my main issue is this,

The deluxe bundle doesn't come with a wii mote or numbchuck. If I know I'm going to get a pro controller neway, should I even bother grabbing a wii mote and numbchuck?

What are the differences between the pro controller and the wii mote?

Fiery- but for those same purposes, can you use the pro controller? Like if I'm playing with another person on NSMBU, can we use the game pad and the pro controller?

Spear- lol thanks dude. But like can you do the same things with the wiimte that u can with the pro controller? A I gonna be investing in a wiimote regardless? Because if so, I may as well grab the Wii right now with my ps3 trade in. That gets me two solid months of gaming with a brand new console, gets me accustomed to some Wii traditions, and also grabs me a Wiimote and chuck, again, keep in mind, I have 360 and ps3. I'm definitely trading in my ps3 cuz the new models coming out, and I wanna get as much as I can for it.

if you plan on playing nintendo land with a friend then u need a wii mote and nunchuku but if you dont then bother. if you want to play old wii games then you also need wii mote and nunchuku. it all depends on what you want to use the controllers for

Bob-OMB and everyone else......appreciate all the feedback......I just couldn't resist myself....it's a boringmsaturdya afternoon.....the girlfriend is taking a teaching certification test...i gave in to gamestops dictatorship demands lol.....I went ahead and traded in the ps3 for 130 and got wii bundle with super mario, and super Mario galaxy.....it is the black wii tho....with the new motion plus controls....so it's pretty legit...overall I could have ended up taking the 90 leftover trade in bonus after getting a wiimote and chuck, and spent it on games and controllers BUT.....that's not as fun lol....c'mon all gamers know that Shiny new feeling....I was bored.....grew up with 64, been away from Nintendo for a while with a 360 and a ps3..... So whatever I went for it lol....just fired it up....I feel like a kid again....got some pizza on the way......gonna be a solid day lol....

In the end....like I said I'm 25 and I Teach for a living...the 90 bucks isn't gonna make or break me.....still gonna go ahead and get the games I want and the pro controller etc on launch day.....but now I got my hands on a nice shiny new black wiimote and enough new Mario content for quite some time lol.....thanks all.......

Depending on the games you are planning to play, you'll probably need a wiimote+nunchuk at some point. It's perfect for fps-style games or strategy "point-and-click" games like Pikmin. But once you have the WiiU, you would only need the Wii for playing Gamecube games, so unless you plan to do that, you'd probably be better off buying a wiimote+nunchuk instead of a wii.

Right....this definitely makes sense.....but in my head its like this....I'm trading in the ps3 neway, and it sounds like I should be getting a mote and a chuck neway? Why not just grab a Wii for the next two months, enjoy that.....and that comes with a wiimote and chuck. So basically. If I'm spending 60 on wiimote and nchuck already, then why not just cough u the extra 70 or so dollars of trade in cash to have a Wii for the next two months, not too mention in could probably trade in Mario for something after, and maybe get something for the Wii console on eBay........thoughts?

Plus you get to play Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Eternal Darkness on it! (Even though you'd need to get a GC controller and memory card first)

If anything, you could hook the Wii up to a second TV in a different room when you get the Wii U. Your house will be completely Wiified.

Also, the bundle I got came with Wii super Mario, and I purchased galaxy on the side....I definitely will get twilight princess....after that, are there any major titles I should be getting?

Does anybody know of any solid headsets. I had the tritton pros for my 360, and apart from the wires, they were really awesome. Very comfy, and great sound. With that being said, Im learning more about online mp and voice chat with the U, I know its not as prevalent on the U, but its there nonetheless. Does anybody know of any good headsets or any coming out? The only one ive really seen is the 50 dollar tritton one that is getting really bad reviews....Thanks!

Yeah mine froze on day 1 out of the blue....I think I made a slight movement with the gamepad and then boom.....I lost a couple levels on Mario, but that's about it......the power wouldn't even turn off, it just wasn't responding so I had to unplug all together.....once I put it back on, it's been working like a charm....I got a nice 5 hour Sesh in yesterday with no issues...

Toys R Us just sold out of both bundles

WOWW. This gives me chills. I decided early yesterday morning I was completely down, and head over heels for WII U. Then, I looked on the forums and saw that best buy and gamestop were already sold out.

I then proceeded to panic.

Quickly made a call to toys R us, and they said they still had deluxes, so I left immediately and went to the story. Got my deluxe preorder in at around 4ish yesterday afternoon.

Cannot believe they sold out later that night

Just checked on the TRU website. It says: "check back soon to preorder!" Im assuming that means, we dont have any left?

I'll tell I this tho, the system looks absolutely stunning in 1080, and the resolution on the gamepad is incredible as well.

Is it possible to play galaxy and use the gamepad? anybody know?

And I dont mean to actually play the game on the gamepad screen, but just to use the gamepad as a controller while playing galaxy. thanks!

Aw, darn. And it would have been a useful feature, too. It's pretty weird that Nintendo didn't at least make it so where Wii games are viewable on the gamepad, since it has it's own senor bar:

lol truee I just hate the nunchuck with a passion....I really just dont get it.....the gamepad is exactly what wii was missing......the hd and all the rest of the upgrades are solid, but the change from nunchuck to gamepad is the revolution for me lol. This has been discussed before and doing a search would have found the relevant thread(s). To answer your question no it's not possible. This is for two reasons. First of all the Wii games were never designed to be played with the Gamepad. Secondly when playing Wii games you have to put the Wii U in Wii mode which doesn't support the Wii U specific controllers.

I think u nailed it my dude....I don't think u need nething else.....I'm grabbin the exact same titles.....NSMBU, zombie, blops, Rayman......undecided on pikmin

Id definitely go NSMBU.....You need a game thats going to keep you busy, and on top of the lengthy story mode, which was actually just the most enjoyable thing in the world, it was not easy, and collecting star coins made the game a very challenging task. There are soooo many other things to do outside of story mode. They have challenge mode, boost rush mode, and other modes that give the game a tonn of replay value. I havent even attempted playing with a buddy yet. NSMBU for sure.

You will get one, and the wait will make it that much sweeter when u do......I was talkin to a g stop employee yesterday and he said he doesn't foresee it being nething like the wii......I personally tnk in about two months it will be available on a regular basis......but if u keep ur eyes and ears open, check numerous places everyday.....I truly think u will be able to get one.....just make sure u know when stores get new shipments in like the day ofnthenweeknetc....and stay on top of calling...

So I just did some testing.......your totaly right.....I can put my dre beats into the gamepad, and egt sound ONLY when the gamepad is not on display....which is literally the dumbest thing ive ever heard.....absolutely ludcirous.......does anybody know if i get a wii u officialy headset by triton etc is it the same thing? or can I have the gamepad working while I play?
