#108598 Classic Controller Pro and pre-MotionPlus Wiimote compatibility

Posted by Spleenzorio on 16 September 2012 - 10:35 AM in Wii U Hardware

Hey guys, quick question about the compatibility with these controllers. I know it's been said that almost all Wii accessories will be compatible with the Wii U, but I'm wondering if the Classic Controller Pro and "first gen" Wiimotes (those that came out before the built in MotionPlus) be compatible?

Thanks for all your answers :)

#108732 not very much memory

Posted by Spleenzorio on 16 September 2012 - 02:59 PM in Wii U Hardware

Let's put this into perspective. An Xbox 360 250GB HDD is about 120 bucks. For the same price, you can buy a 2TB external hard drive which you can also put other stuff on, not just dedicated to your gaming machine.

#108753 What games did U pre-order?

Posted by Spleenzorio on 16 September 2012 - 03:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I usually never preorder a game unless there will be a preorder bonus, or I think it's gunna be in such a high demand I won't get one unless I have a preorder. But since I'm kinda poor atm all I have is AC3 preordered, which I switched over from the PS3 version I had already paid off. Launch games I do wanna get are Mario for sure, ZombiU and Darksiders 2, maybe Rayman and Tank!x3. Then whenever Lego and Transformers comes out Imma get those too.

#108877 Launch Day Advice

Posted by Spleenzorio on 16 September 2012 - 07:45 PM in Wii U Hardware

If you are wondering what it looks like to get to the midnight launch late, this is a video I made last year for the MW3 midnight launch at my EB Games. ABout 35 seconds in the employee explains how "pre-ringing" works, which is what I assume they will all be doing at most midnight launches with a ton of people.

#109011 Can nintendo pull of the gamecube2... with better 3rd party support?

Posted by Spleenzorio on 17 September 2012 - 08:26 AM in Wii U Hardware

The Wii U will be fine. I can see it definitely being the spiritual successor to the Gamecube. For those worried about it not having graphics that are able to keep up with next Gen (which by the way.. No one knows anything about yet outside of the Wii U), seriously...it would be best for all if you just shut up and go away until those systems come out. Nintendo has long gave gamers great EXPERIENCES.Every xbox and playstation has virtually remained the same every generation with same old games and just prettier games. A lot of gamers are content with that, but Nintendo fans..ie the last of the REAL gamers are not content with mediocrity.

Exactly. No matter what Nintendo shows off, it gets me excited. Even though I have all current gen consoles, I like to think of myself as a Nintendo fanboy. I'm always pumped the most for their E3 conferences, while I never get too hyped for the other two because they never really show anything that hasn't been done before. I was so excited for the 3DS leading up to it's launch, I didn't even wanna go and try it before it came out, I wanted to experience it first hand after I purchased it. Same with Wii U. I'm glad Wii U is only 2 months away, I don't think I'd be able to hold off my excitement any longer than that :P

#109050 Snowboard kids for Wii U in development?

Posted by Spleenzorio on 17 September 2012 - 10:35 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Snowboard Kids 1 was the best. I'd love to see another one for Wii U with the same cartoony visuals but in upgraded 1080p graphics.

#109352 Wii U Memory

Posted by Spleenzorio on 17 September 2012 - 07:47 PM in Wii U Hardware

I just wonder how fast exactly will an external HDD run full downloaded games. i hope it doesnt create long load times or laggy gameplay or anything like that! im suprised they arent usb 3.0 ports. Or even just using my flash drive for now until I get a lot more games later on when i need the space, if it can read the memory fast enough to play the games as it would an internal hdd

Depends on how quick the transfer rate is on the drive.

#109360 Wii U Memory

Posted by Spleenzorio on 17 September 2012 - 08:01 PM in Wii U Hardware

im really thinking of getting the biggest SD card i can find and just put it in there and not worry about an HDD. i wonder if that would be a faster transfer rate than a usb drive

Pulling up a random external drive to compare it to an SD card, the drive has a transfer rate of 480 Mbits/sec while SD cards can have a max of only 14.6 Mbits/sec. SD cards usually cost about a dollar per GB, of course the higher quality ones usually pay a bit more. But honestly for the price you might spend on a 32GB SD card, spend about 20 bucks more and you can get yourself a 500GB external drive. Sure you probaby don't need that much for a console, but you can use it for other things like movies and stuff. Personally I'm saving for a 2TB one for about 120 bucks just to store all my junk plus keep in the Wii U when I don't need it on my PC.

#113092 i didn't get to preorder

Posted by Spleenzorio on 27 September 2012 - 12:00 AM in Wii U Hardware

I spoke with one of the guys at EB Games today, I asked if we have a pre-order if we are guaranteed one on launch day and he says yup. Of course if they do get any units outside the number reserved for pre-orders, then it will be first come first serve. Even though I have a pre-order I'm still gunna be there early just because I want it that much :P

#113102 Basic or Deluxe?

Posted by Spleenzorio on 27 September 2012 - 12:15 AM in Wii U Hardware

Gettin a Deluxe with Mario and ZombiU, and switched my AC3 pre-order from PS3 to Wii U.

Dunno if you guys noticed but after the E3 where Nintendo showed off the Wiimote, the PS3 controller had an upgrade to include motion control when they hadn't mentioned it before Nintendo showed theirs off.

#113105 Largest memory for less?

Posted by Spleenzorio on 27 September 2012 - 12:50 AM in Wii U Hardware

When it comes to storage options, I like to think of it like this.

You want a new place to live. You either pick:

A. the small apartment for less money because you don't have much stuff, but if you end up getting more stuff you will need to move to a bigger place.

B. the nice big place for a bit more money so you have room for more stuff later on if you choose to get more. but if not at least you still have the option.

If you choose option A, you could essentially be spending more than option B if you choose to upgrade later on.

#113106 Toys R Us selling Wii U for 419.99

How is this a bundle? It's the same price as buying a basic Wii U and any 2 games......

#113637 Launch Day Advice

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 08:15 AM in Wii U Hardware

Any advice for a foreigner visiting NYC for the first time? I'll be arriving on the 17th and plan on camping out to buy mii a Wii U on launch day.

Show up early! Bring lots of money if you wanna go shopping elsewhere :P

#113647 Bayonetta 2 a Wii U exclusive

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 08:59 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Here's a nice hard counter for those people who complain about it being a Nintendo exclusive and think boycotting will amount to anything.

Bayonetta 2 Would Not Exist Without Nintendo

Enjoy!

#113656 Preorder bonus for black ops 2

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 09:22 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Is the AC3 Join or Die edition only available in Europe?

#113668 what happened to the news floodgates opening?

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 11:19 AM in Wii U Hardware

Forget the news I never even got a chance to pre-order a deluxe set, I was working and by the time I got a chance it was already sold out! Nintendo you better start ramping up production.

Keep calling and checking if there are any available, apparently people sometimes cancel if they change their mind. Or you might get lucky and they will be given a few extra for pre-orders.

#113675 Need advice on getting a Wii U without pre-ordering

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 12:05 PM in Wii U Hardware

The least you can deposit is 50 bucks at EB Games/GameStop for a console pre-order. Put that down for now (if you can find somewhere that still has pre-orders) if you think you might have the money for the launch day. And once it gets closer to launch, you can always cancel and if they don't give you your deposit just keep it on your account or put it on a giftcard to use later.

#113681 Are you concerned about if the Wii U can breaks because of overuse?

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 12:20 PM in Wii U Hardware

Only problem I've ever had with Nintendo products is my Wii GPU overheated and there's tons of pixelation whenever I play games on it, and on my DS Lite there's a small part on the left side of the touch screen that doesn't respond to any touch input. So I'm hoping for a cooling fan or somethin for the Wii U.

Also yeah, I've been through 4 Xbox 360s due to red rings and once they sent me a European version so I couldn't watch DVD movies on it because of the wrong region :/

#113683 black ops 2

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 12:37 PM in Wii U Games and Software

After seeing the features of the Wii U version, I really wanted it. Only reason why I'm not switching my PS3 pre-order to Wii U is because I have the Care Package edition paid off already. If they show a Care Package for Wii U, then heck yeah I'll switch.

#113731 Ninja Turtles

Posted by Spleenzorio on 29 September 2012 - 06:21 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Just watched the first episode of the new TMNT series and wow! It's gunna be good! Anywho during one of the scenes where the turtles are jumpin around on rooftops I was thinking how cool a game would be based on the show. One that doesn't necessarily need to follow the show storywise, more like an open world type game kinda like the Spiderman games but with drop-in drop-out co-op. I really like the art style of this new show and thought the Wii U could showcase the graphics quite well.

Yeah but NOT shovelware, but an actual good game. Leveling up, upgrades, DLC, all the good shizzle.

#113881 One gamepad

Posted by Spleenzorio on 30 September 2012 - 08:59 AM in Wii U Hardware

The reasons they're not selling seperate gamepads.
- No games could handle 2 gamepads.
- They needed the gamepads so they could make more hardware.

I think you meant to say no games are supporting 2 Gamepads YET.

Also would you rather have twice as many Gamepads on the market, or twice as many Wii U consoles?
