#220396 Nintendo E3= Disappointing?

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 12 June 2013 - 12:38 PM in E3 2013 Archive

I don't know all of the dates. I'll check later. But I know Wonderful 101 is coming in Sept. I think with all the super hero movies a super hero game will do well.

Oh yeah I'm definitely getting that game, but I really don't expect that it will move many consoles.  It seems entirely too quirky to be a system seller.

So when is the first system seller for Wii U coming out?  Nintendo is either going to get hammered over the holidays or it will be a wash if people take a "let's wait and see" approach on the PS4 and Xbox One.  Either way there is little doubt that they should have released the console after some of the heavy hitters were farther along in development.  There is not much point in launching first if you will have nothing to show for that lead.

#217086 NBA 2K14 not coming to Wii U.

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 07 June 2013 - 10:19 AM in Wii U Games and Software

2K is only mad because 2K13 didn't sell. Perhaps if we had a decent amount of games at the time and the port wasn't crap and had effort put into it?!?

2.Not me. I saw how the 2K13 port was crap and how they would get butthurt and compalin despite the fact the devs were slacking off.

3.The Xbox One will most likely tank. As for the PS4 it will sell but probably slower than Sony has before. Nintendo is well on their way to receive many 1st part blockbusters making the Wii U a hot topic causing devs to flock back over.

2K13 isn't crap on Wii U.  I love the game.

So did anybody pick up State of Decay this week?  What do you think?

#206613 Selling my PS Vita. What should I buy.

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 13 May 2013 - 09:49 AM in General Gaming

Its not about quantity but quality. The Vita has far more top quality games then the Wii U. Plus I find it hard to believe the Wii U has that many games released already anyway.

Yeah I can't see selling my Vita for that list of 3DS games that the OP put out there.  I mean Persona, Soul Sacrifice, Super Stardust, and Guacamelee absolute destroy that list.

I made a list of games I'm planning to get.

ALL OF THEM ARE FOR 3DS

Star Fox 64 3D

Mario Tennis Open

Super Monkey Ball 3D

Sonic Generations

Street Fighter 4

Rhythm Theif

Cooking Mama 4

Asphalt

(I know I wont be able to get all but I'll get what I could find and afford.)

The Vita is a piece of junk and this is your list?  Wow dude I actually take offense to that B)

#206623 Nintendo looking at the mobile gaming industry is a GOOD thing.

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 13 May 2013 - 09:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Obviously games would need to be rescaled, and control support would have to be added, but I'm pretty sure that is exactly why Nintendo released WiiU specific tools for porting mobile apps to the console, it would give them the ability to quickly upscale and sharpen the visuals, as well as add controller support.

If that is the idea I'm all for it then.  However, I still want to see Nintendo reach out to the guys that make games like Terraria, Don't Starve, Hotline Miami, Monaco, State of Decay, and Binding of Isaac.  Fortunately that seems to also be where they are focusing.

#206592 Nintendo looking at the mobile gaming industry is a GOOD thing.

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 13 May 2013 - 07:58 AM in Wii U Games and Software

It's a simple matter to put them in a separate subcategory on the eShop, though, and having that library would steal the thunder from other tablets simply because WiiU can do it better and has better control options. There are tons of iOS games that I would play if the controls didn't suck so hard

Well that's true, and that could turn out to be an issue.  iOS games tend to have shoe horned touch controls, and most of those games would be better served with gamepad controls.  It depends on whether the developers will be lazy and just port those shoe horned touch controls over to the WiiU gamepad or whether there will be options for left and right stick controls.  I don't want to feel like I'm playing an iphone game on a 42" TV.....if that perception runs rampant then I'm afraid it will do more harm than good.

That's the idea, give them the ability to easily port their current games, and in not too long they'll be looking to make games specifically for WiiU using the same HTML5 language

I guess it's possible......or you end up with that library of 10,000 crappy games that others have suggested.

#206560 Nintendo looking at the mobile gaming industry is a GOOD thing.

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 13 May 2013 - 05:16 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Nintendo should take the energy that they are using on the mobile game market to woo developers that make games for the CONSOLE market.  Doesn't Nintendo already have a very viable mobile device in the 3DS.  The last time I checked it has pushing 20m in sales.

I think it's a bad thing image-wise for a few reasons. First of all, bad games give a console bad reputation, even if there are also good games for it. It's better if there are 20 good games and 10 bad games available than 21 good games and 10 000 bad games. Secondly, a kid will have a harder time asking their parents for a good game when it costs 10 times as much as other games available, crappy as they may be. Thirdly, I don't think Nintendo want people to think of the Wii U as a console for mobile games.

It is terrible for their image because it implies that they don't have much going with the developers and publishing houses that matter to console gamers.

#205505 Becoming a Nintendo loner...

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 09 May 2013 - 12:16 PM in Wii U Hardware

PS4 first party:

SCE Japan- Knack

Polyphony Digital- Gran Turismo 6

Naughty Dog- Uncharted 4 or new IP

Sucker Punch- Infamous Second Son

Evolution- DriveClub

Guerilla Games- KillZone ShadowFall

Media Molecule- new IP

Wii U first party:

HAL Laboratory- Smash Bros 4

Intelligent Systems- Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem and Game & Wario

Monolith Soft- Xenoblade II

EAD1- Mario Kart Wii U

EAD3- the Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker and new Zelda

EAD4- Pikmin 3

Team Galaxy- 3D Mario Wii U

Retro Studios- Metroid or Star Fox

Personally I think Nintendo will have a MUCH better offering in terms of exclusives (they always have). I'm not really into Uncharted, Killzone, and Infamous, i'm more looking forward to 3D Mario, Smash Bros 4, Retro Studios, Xenoblade II, etc. It's all preference.

I couldn't agree more, but you do have to throw Sony Santa Monica on the Sony side also.

For 2 years the PS3 will still be supported, then it'll take a further 2 for next gen games to really start shining, still by then PC/Steam games may be my main source of gaming. Unless the Ps4 gives me a must have exclusive

That's what I'm thinking too, but for me for the first time ever there is absolutely no reason to be hasty because of the PC.

#205479 Avalanche Studios: Wii U Dev Kits are Collecting Dust

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 09 May 2013 - 09:29 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I understand and agree with you, I am a Fifa fan myself. Grew up playing soccer as a kid and loved the fifa games on my genesis. I am looking forward to Bayonetta and Wonderful 101, and Pikimin 3..., plus others. I think in a year or so the Wii U Library of games will be on par with the 3DS, and that little handheld has an impressive list of GREAT games.

Well I definitely appreciate the positive outlook, and because of Nintendo I now have a kick ass gaming PC.  I never would have pulled the trigger otherwise :D

#205474 Avalanche Studios: Wii U Dev Kits are Collecting Dust

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 09 May 2013 - 09:13 AM in Wii U Games and Software

That's because it's the media, doing what they do best. Many of those stories are based off a simple tweet from the one developer or publisher who said Frostbite 3 engine cannot or was not running well on Wii U. So bloggers and news sites picked this up and wrote a story about it. Many of the stories running on the popular tech and gaming sites are from that simple tweet which was twisted and taken out of context which happens way too often. These "reporters" are so quick to release a story of bad news just to get hits instead of doing a bit more research to understand things.

The other bit of news appearing lately was the developer saying the Wii U is collecting dust and the excuses were, small install base and it was hard contacting Nintendo.

It's a users job to read and research to get a more in depth view as to what is really going on. These articles make it seem like the Wii U is getting no 3rd party games, and that of course is no where near the truth.

In the minds of many in the "news" world, it isn't a story unless you can find something bad or negative within it. Much of the time bad news trumps good news.

I know the reality of the situation, and just like the past couple console generations I'm going to be able to find third party stuff that is catered to the Nintendo experience.  I'm certainly not Daisying about getting games like Lego City, Bayonetta, and Wonderful 101.  Those are awesome games that I would have never wanted to miss out on.  I guess before I bought my Wii U I was really hoping that the recent trend would stop and I could just use my Nintendo machine for Nintendo exclusives and the very few "big games" that I enjoy.  I can't stand EA, but I will never be able to give up my yearly FIFA game....I guess that news really took it's toll on me.

#205462 Avalanche Studios: Wii U Dev Kits are Collecting Dust

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 09 May 2013 - 08:36 AM in Wii U Games and Software

There is a lot of great 3rd party news if you are even paying attention to more than just doom articles and threads. You can blame yourself for your false perception of the current situation

Is that so?  I have a google search that I use every couple of days........

https://www.google.c...iw=1280&bih=909

You can basically scan through the first 10 pages of results and unless it's news about smartphone games ending up on WiiU, CoD:Ghost, or Ubisoft games you will find very few feel good stories man.  Of course there is a spattering of games making their way to Wii U, but when I am going to end up with FIFA 14 on PC instead of playing it on my game pad that pretty much sets the tone.  I'm not getting joy out of this reality like many on the web seem to be, but I'm not going to push it under the rug either.

I think I'm going to have to start ignoring Nintendo 3rd party news at this point.  I think I'll stick to articles about the 1st party games because the 3rd party stuff is getting worse than I ever thought it could get.

#205159 Becoming a Nintendo loner...

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 08 May 2013 - 09:31 AM in Wii U Hardware

Ah gotcha I was late to the party, and actually you are correct about Sony.  It won't be hard for me to fight off MS in this generation, but fighting off the PS4 will be tough because of exclusives. The only place that I gave 360 and advantage over Nintendo and PS3 in the last generation as far as my gaming needs was with the selection of indie titles, but luckily Steam puts those to shame.

#205089 Becoming a Nintendo loner...

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 08 May 2013 - 05:20 AM in Wii U Hardware

What about console exclusives? You seem to have left that part out. That's the appeal to buying multiple consoles. Not everyone has the money, but that's why you get the consoles down the road when they're cheaper. You didn't think well enough when you made this post.

Sure he thought about his post.  The Wii U for exclusives and the PC for third party stuff.  I have pretty much drawn the line in the sand with this generation.  I can afford all three, but I'm not doing it anymore.  There is no way that I'm giving another penny to MS for a pay to play online service and practically no exclusives, and the Sony exclusives just don't appeal to me the way that they used to.  After really thinking about it the solution was clear.....Nintendo exclusives and PC for everything else.

I'd certainly not shut myself off from other consoles. I'll probably stick to Wii U and PC for around 3 to 5 years, then buy a PS4 or 720

Yeah that is the only way I would cave.  If the PS4 has a stable of must play games in like 4 years, and the price is dirt cheap maybe I'll buy.

#203498 Shadow of the Eternals

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 03 May 2013 - 12:36 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I mean, I can see why you would say a Mario or Zelda game is a system seller, but why this?

Go back and play the original and then imagine it updated for current generation.....then come back and answer your own question.

Btw I'm not seeing Mario moving many Wii U's

Because Eternal Darkness was one of the best games on the GameCube
Because Eternal Darkness gained a massive fanbase
Because Eternal Darkness made a very innovative game
Because Eternal Darkness was an amazing adult game for a system everyone said was for kids.
Because this is a spiritual successor/sequel to Eternal Darkness

Because it's awesome.

Thank you....it would be no different than Nintendo reviving any of their old beloved franchises.  When did 3DS' start to move?  When Kid Icarus came out that is when.

#203446 Shadow of the Eternals

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 03 May 2013 - 10:54 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Why will this be a system seller again?

Are you being serious?  If this game is console exclusive to Wii U and includes the insanity meter from Eternal Darkness I think people will get really excited.

#203421 Shadow of the Eternals

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 03 May 2013 - 09:54 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I read that Nintendo owns patents on the some of basic mechanics  of the game, like the sanity meter, so that means this game might not be anything like the first one. I'm starting to get the feeling this wont end well.

Coming soon to a console near you....except WiiU.

#202984 Wii U will miss out on Madden NFL for 2013

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 02 May 2013 - 10:48 AM in General Gaming

I could care less about some dumb football game that is nothing but roster updates with a new number on the cover...

...But this better not mean they arent giving me my dumb hockey game that is nothing but roster updates and a new number on the cover :P

I'd give the Wii U getting Halo 5 better odds.

Well, apparently EA made the right decision because absolutely no Wii U fan appears to want a sports game because apparently everyone of them exercises regularly outside and that makes a football game lame. . .For the few of us that realize that there will now be no official NFL game on the Wii U (and realize that's a pretty big group of players that WONT be buying a Wii U) it kind of sucks. I'm not a madden fan, but EA sports games are like Mcdonalds. Every town has them. While Nintendo will survive without third party games (for now) it doesn't bode well to expanding their player base.

Honestly the attitude of some Wii U fans bothers me more than anything else. If a game is coming to the Wii U, "ITS THE DEFINITIVE VERSION!!!! IM TOTALLY GETTING IT!!!" vs if it's not "meh. . .i hate that game anyways". According to most of us the Wii U miraculously doesn't get sucky games and only gets definitive versions. Pretty amazing right? When will we realize that any game coming means more players, better gaming experience, more money for Nintendo = GOOD

You definitely get the severity of this.  News like this certainly hurts Nintendo's chances of getting buyers on board that will only buy one console.  I like Nintendo exclusives best but there are also other multiplats like FIFA, GTA, and Assassins Creed that I also love.  If I could only afford one console I would have a serious dilemma.

#201511 No E3, but chance for a better E3 Nintendo Direct?

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 29 April 2013 - 10:18 AM in General Gaming

Here is the main issue that I have with Ninty bailing on the big stage.  Gamers like us know that we will still get all of the info that we want in terms of the games, but the more casual fans might miss out.  Nintendo has done an awful job of marketing the Wii U, and this doesn't help the perception of the console imo.

#201508 Can the Vita been saved?

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 29 April 2013 - 10:09 AM in General Gaming

No, like an original, exclusive game. Personally, I think CrossBuy is killing the Vita. For one, why buy the Vita version when you already have a PS3? Not to mention the PS3 has a well-established library and is cheaper than the Vita. It's good for those that have both, but that's not even 5 million people. Sony needs to go all in, or kill it. A multiplat won't sell a system. Exclusives will. That's one reason I think the Vita isn't doing too well. Wouldn't be a bad idea to embrace the "Vita is a portable PS3" idea Sony put out before launch. Only a few games are CorssBuy, which isn't that great. Put all the PS3 games on Vita PSN. Sony needs to embrace what their trying to do instead of half-assing it.

Yeah I can understand why you feel that way.  Hopefully the fact that it gets Soul Sacrifice tomorrow and it's own Killzone and Tearaway in the not so distant future will help it's fortunes as far as exclusives.  The only thing that I'm not sure of in your post is about the "portable PS3" thing.  Handhelds are perfect for short burst gaming rather than attempting to simulate the console experience.  I think that is why Nintendo handhelds have always done so well.  I'd like to see more exclusive stuff like Super Stardust, Sound Shapes, Guacamelee, and Mutant Blobs done right on the Vita and less epic console like games.  I guess it comes back to what you said.....Sony doesn't really seem to know what they want out of the Vita yet and it's been on the market for a year and a half.

#201478 Can the Vita been saved?

Posted by BobbyRiddle on 29 April 2013 - 07:34 AM in General Gaming

I think it can, but it would take quite a bit of work. First and foremost, the console and its memory cards need a price drop. Wouldn't be bad to bring out a few bundles either. Games aren't too much of a problem. There are some quality games on the system, even if you gotta look for them. I know I'd be a bit of a sucker for a Vita if there was a Ratchet and Clank game on there. Maybe even a Sly Cooper game...

The new Sly Cooper is on Vita.  Actually it's a cross buy with the PS3 version.
