A remarkable killer app called full and undiluted 3rd party support.Nintendo should have gone the whole hog with the 3rd party this time.Whole thing was there for the taking.Its almost like they learned nothing from the wii and the type of gamers it repelled

I wouldn't go that far. Yes the OS is slow and there aren't enough compelling games. The hardware is hardly mediocre although the likelyhood is that it won't compare to Sony and Microsoft's new offerings its still quite beefy. Its also not expensive in my opinion and priced just fine considering what you get. If the OS was in better shape and the compelling games were there it probably would be in a much healthier state.

Its just baffling to see people making excuses for Nintendo. This is the whole point. Its missing the compelling games with not much in site especially from third parties.

People keep on saying it takes time to release games. That's not an excuse. These games should have been in place and in development long ago. It looks like the third party devs came on board pretty late in the game. They would have known about the console, its specs and when it was coming out and they could have prepared for it.

Agree with fairly much all of this,I am not a "fanboy" of any console/firm I just go where the games are I want to play.At the minute I am underwhelmed by the offerings that are available to me as of now.The wiiu did not just materialize in nov last year it was in development for probably around two years.At this time nintendo should have been busy at work ensuring new games were available at this time.It seems like they were sitting on their hands instead software wise.I mean we got an ok if generic mario,nintendo land from nntendo 1st party,we also got some worthwhile 3rd party games zombiu,ac3 and black ops 2.People need to ask themselves is that enough to make people drop a considerable amount of money on a wiiu?

Some of the stuff on the horizon looks good,but until its here and available its not relevant.We may see an upturn in wiiu sales once the titles in development show up.Or it might be competing with newer more powerful consoles with better third party support by then.Only time will tell.For my money nintendo should have been home and hosed by the time these new consoles turn up.I just cant get my head around what nintendo were doing software wise while the wiiu was in development (mario and nintendoland only?),this is a serious oversight and bad planning.

Saturn you really need to tone down the fanboyism its bordering on embarrasing,No I didnt miss the nd or anything else.There is nothing with the exception of blops 2 atm I want to play.Announcement this that or the other is fine but the console was in development for at least 2 years where was the planning for now?If this were a report card it would say C- capable of much better.

You guys are missing the point that the wii brought something totally new and this and the games based around the motion features sold the system.The wiiu isnt the same has not got anything (maybe with the exception of the gamepad) as unique.Also the wiiu launch has been mismanaged by nintendo.Also the relationships (remember unprecedented partnerships?) with third parties seems to have soured.A lack of games is the current affliction.Really not into rpgs or monster hunter type games so it will be a loooooooong wait for something to play considering I paid all in near 500 pounds its not acceptable.Finished zombiu,got bored with mario,still playing black ops 2(with out the dlc that the consoles 7 years older already have) and aliens was what I was hoping to tide me over but the reviews have been meh.Badly managed release of the wiiu indeed

It looks fine if it aint broke and all that,its a touchpad not a screen same as the back of a vita.NO it doesnt copy anything from nintendo (even if like 80% of the posters here are making it out that way.)People are also missing out on the one revolutionary new feature it has.It uses a special system called relations with third parties to ensure that the biggest third party games can all be played using it.Looks like what I will be playing bf4 on this time next year hopefully.Going to give sony another chance,not just based on the controller but the tech itself.Wont be pleased if europe shunted too far back for release of this thing

With all due respect gaming most my life on lots of formats I know when to respect a console and as good as the tech in the wii u is good tech alone is not enough,as a platform it has not earned my respect as of yet.

As for random unannounced wii u titles/nintendo directs etc.Only an announcement of something I really want to play like watch dogs / battlefield 4? is enough.I was promised "unprecedented partnerships" so far I have seen unprecedented promises.Oh and a heap of third parties clearly unhappy with wiiu for some reason

Almost looks very like ms are trying to position themselves at the forefront of motion gaming this gen a la original wii?Even at the expense of (dare I say it) core gamers?Also the constant dropping of the "app" word in all references to durango makes me confident that ms are trying to create an apple like multi platform same os app store to generate money.I own a w8 laptop and phone but would not base which console I will buy on just "integration" which to be honest has not been great between lapop and phone as of yet.

I dont find the full kinect integration nice and based on what have read until now will probably end up with a ps4

Been watching this thread,and to be honest my wii u is a slight dissappointment. I get what people are saying bout nintendo taking their time.However the wii u didnt just appear it was in development for probably two years.This means that nintendo were well aware in advance of its release and still failed to provide adequate cover games for the launch window.Some are saying that the field was left open for third party to push their games,if this is true now that all the biggest 3rd party games are released where is what nintendo "held back".Sorry to say it looks like they didnt prepare right an are now playing catchup.Having finished zombiu if it weren't for black ops I would not be playing my wii u right now.

Oh I agree Lupaie specifically that this shouldnt have been announced as an exclusive in the first place but it is just a cold hard numbers game unfortunately.As much as I would love to see rayman relaeased now as it is obviously ready I see that ubisoft will not like the idea of making the xbox ps versions look like they are being treated badly as it may affect sales of their other games (dont think it would but this is the mindset of big companies in a recession).I dont like it but I reckon its here to stay decision wise.I do however think that ubi are at least supporting the wiiu to a higher degree than many other devs who would be easier targets for hate (EA,Activision and rockstar?).

I read more than I post here but seriously some of the fanboys need to tone it down.They (ubisoft) are a company same as any other with the aim of making as much money as possible.The idea that they would keep rayman exclusive out of what?pity?blind faith?Oh and the idea that there would be more sales from a wiiu launch now than multiplatform later is just ridiculous,150 million potential customers vs 3.5 million maybe 4?Its a pity but dont be too hard on ubi as at least their titles are still coming to the wiiu whereas ea seems to treat the console like a leper.There is waaay too much hate for ubi over this perfeclty sensible strategy from them.Its all about the money whether 1st party or third any idea otherwise is just rubbish.

The numbers tflops and gflops aren't correct entirely as there are other fixed function parts of it that people don't know what they are.This means measuring it in the same way as a standard no custom gpu is impossible.I mean the die could yet throw up more functions like high bandwidth shaders if this were the case calculations would be impossible to make without knowing the full specs.

Having said that it doesn't look great from what people recognize,it is what people cant see though that must be making the wiiu capable of the "x" game clips.As what we can see should tell us it cant do this.I don't know enough to analyze it but guess that the gpu has some newer features built in even if its based on an older card design

Hmmm having read the gpu photo thread at neogaf it would LOOK Like the wiiu isn't as graphically adept as first thought.however there is a lot of unaccounted for space on the chip that could be hiding goodies.Same as before Nintendo has highly customized the chip and there must be some customizations in there that nobody knows yet.In fact even just based on the x in game clips there must be something going on in there we don't know about.Cos just looking at that video against the gpu assets something doesn't seem right (a gpu with specs that seem that low shouldn't be able to produce it).

If both the leaks are correct,then it looks like the Xbox 720/ Durango will be at about at least a 30% less powerful than ps4/orbis.As well as this due to the unified vram on the orbis/ps4 it should be far easier to dev for graphically at least as there won't be the bottleneck on vram that the xbox/durango will have.If these leaks are true it should be impossible for multiplatform games to look better on the xbox/durango.If the leaks are true I will be buying a ps4!The xbox doesn't look as hardware proficient in these leaks.In fact I would say the next xbox wont be a huge leap graphically.1080p?60fps yes but it doesn't seem like the graphics can be that far beyond the best looking games of 2013 on ps3/xbox.

As for where the wiiu is in this mix I would say graphically similar but with a weaker cpu to the new xbox.A good 30-35% behind the ps4/orbis.One thing is for sure I am not as worried as I was about the wiiu carving a place out for itself.Think ms will find it hard coming maybe 20months after the wiiu with hardware that doesn't stand head and shoulders beyond its capabilities.

Lets hope this will be the one where they anounce hari -kiri of whatever bungler is in charge of the black ops 2 dlc fiasco.
Apart from that as someone with no real interest in 1st party nintendo games I am really hoping to see enough to justify my purchase of the wiiu,timing is interesting just before the ps4 reveal.Im hoping for some serious AAA titles being announced Battlefield would be nice but cant see it.Beyond that something new from a big studio or watch dogs would help.
