#120119 Who was/is dissapointed with the PS3?

Posted by Dark Link on 21 October 2012 - 04:00 PM in General Gaming

People over analyse things these days, Learn to enjoy life seriously. Like all those people going "OMG da Wii U isnt 8 timez quicker than PS3740 etc," or "OHMRG NAWWWW da touch screen on da gamepad isnt a superdooper whooper one"
Enjoy the console for what it is, a games machine, something to play and have fun on.

This.

Anyway my overall experience on the PS3 has been positive. It is a console with a lot of gems that I enjoy playing like 3D Dot Game Heroes, Tales of Graces f, Disgaea 3 & 4, Demon's Souls, the Hyperdimension Neptunia games, the Atelier series, and the White Knight Chronicles series. All I can say it is the system is far from perfect but so is every system on the market. If you want the best of all worlds you buy all systems. Sad but true.

#120173 Who was/is dissapointed with the PS3?

Posted by Dark Link on 21 October 2012 - 07:25 PM in General Gaming

No this is certainly not a hate thread.PS1,PS2,DC,GC and Xbox is my favourite time in my gaming life. The first game i played was chuckie egg on an Amstrad CPC-464,and yes,i had a green screen ;)

Im just pointing out some of the mistakes sony have made, and continue to make.

All three companies in the console market are guilty of this. Sony is no different in the grand scheme of things. No console is perfect, and no company that build them is perfect either. They all make mistakes and still continue on with them to the next generation. Nobody in here seems to mention Nintendo's ongoing policy on region lock, which the 3DS is the first handheld platform (unless you count the handful of DSi games in existence) to employ the technology. Nintendo didn't learn from Operation Rainfall, and they are resuming their agenda on locking down on imported titles. Now that online play will become a major feature of the Wii U, don't expect to mod your system without Nintendo banning you from their network. Are you, kind sir, disappointed in the Wii U and Nintendo as well? By your logic, you should be.

#122309 Which game are you playing right now ?

Judas Priest - Ram It Down

#122315 5 reasons you should get the Wii U.

Posted by Dark Link on 28 October 2012 - 07:06 PM in Wii U Hardware

With that said I have very little reason to buy this at launch. I think I rather wait for a much larger lineup of games to choose from. Besides, I grew weary of the New Super Mario Bros. games and this one for the Wii U doesn't catch my interest in the slightest bit. Give me a Zelda game and I am sold.

#123824 DISNEY TO ACQUIRE LUCASFILM LTD.

Some fans have outraged over the buyout but this change might be for the best. I will have to watch the new movie to see for myself.

#125197 Who played the wiiu yet

Posted by Dark Link on 06 November 2012 - 07:26 PM in The Café

Saw a demo unit at my local Best Buy but for some reason cannot play a single game on it and only watch trailers. What's the point of this demo if you cannot, you know, play the thing?

#125246 THQ's stock drops 50% after earnings implosion, company only worth $...

Posted by Dark Link on 06 November 2012 - 09:00 PM in General Gaming

What a shame. Too bad, THQ is probably one of my favorite publishers if for their better studios like Vigil and Relic but if they keep bleeding stocks like this THQ will certainly be a goner in a few years.

#125251 For those who didn't snag a pre-order...

Posted by Dark Link on 06 November 2012 - 09:07 PM in Wii U Hardware

Didn't pre-order one, but no big deal. I can wait until next year when Nintendo releases more games that I would play. For now, Pikmin 3 and Zombie U are the only games that I am interested in.

#125797 Up or Down How will You Wii U

Unlike my Wii, the Wii U will lay down flat.

#128970 The future of Sony?

Posted by Dark Link on 13 November 2012 - 07:24 PM in General Gaming

Well I am not here to say doom & gloom to the Vita and I give it best wishes to succeed. However the Vita isn't selling to Sony's expectations for a few primary reasons:

Marketing- Sony is marketing this device as a "PS3 in your pocket" which is a very bad decision that spells immediate failure. Less people own a PS3 than a PSP, but Sony is clearly marketing this device to PS3 owners, thus making the Vita a niche within a niche. The same mistake was made with the PSP, a PS2 in your pocket. That didn't go as well as Sony wanted and like the Vita less people own a PSP than a PS2.

Memory Cards- This isn't 1990s anymore. The console games industry have come a long way from the dark ages of selling a console and a memory card SEPARATELY forcing you to buy not only a game but an accessory to really use your console. The PSP even included a 32MB memory stick duo when it first released, why couldn't Sony do the same for the Vita? By this logic you might as well sell your PSVita without a power charger as well. Is there really a major difference?

The games are open for debate. The 3DS had a terrible launch lineup and many agreed the Vita had a better launch lineup, but Nintendo released some heavy system sellers alongside a much needed price drop, something Sony has yet to do.

#129612 consoles and how old they are today

Posted by Dark Link on 14 November 2012 - 09:36 PM in General Gaming

EDIT: I have mistaken this thread. I thought this was a thread about the systms we own and how much we had them or how old we think they are. I'll come back and dig up some history of how old they exactly are and repost. Until then enjoy my list of the consoles I DO own and how old I think my particular consoles are.

360 7 years
Wii 5 years
PS3 4 years

3DS 1 year
PSVita less than 1 year old (as with every non-Japanese Vita)

Retro/Previous gen systems-
(This is a hard one for me as they are so old and received the majority of them when I started retro collecting so I am making a rough guess on their age)

Atari2600 around 35 years (can't believe how old this thing is and it STILL WORKS! zOMG!)
Atari 5200 around 30 years
Atari 7800 around 25-28 years
Intellivision around 30 years
Colecovision around 25 years
NES (all 3 consoles) older than me (I am 24)
Sega Genesis/MegaDrive around 20 years
Turbo Graphix 16 around 20 years
SNES around 20 years
3D0 17-19 years
Atari Jaguar 17-20 years
Sega Saturn 17 years
CDi (yes I have this abysmal piece of horse scat) 16-20 years
PS1 16 years
N64 15 years
PS2 10 years
GameCube 8 years
Xbox 8 years

Retro/past gen handheld consoles-
GameBoy around 20 years
Sega GameGear around 20 years
GameBoy Color 12 years
GameBoy Advanced 10 years
DS 7 years old
PSP 5 years old

Posted by Dark Link on 15 November 2012 - 09:48 AM in The Café

+1

Also I love Pikmin 2 way more than I did the first game. I am a proud owner of a black label copy on GameCube (relatively rare but not sure how valuable it is).

#147130 Atheism.

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 03:04 PM in The Café

A former Christian, now an Atheist. I no longer agree with the Bible and what it says as truth when the majority of it makes no sense whatsoever (the contents in the Bible is sourced from third-hand information where much of the original is completely lost). I take what I've learned from science and evolution over anything from a leather-covered book held by holy men behind a wooden pulpit. The god of the Bible also appears to me as capricious, angry, hateful, jealous, and deadly yet people tell me he is peaceful and kind. This post is perfectly frank and isn't to offend the Christians on this forum as I respect anyone that believes in Christianity, but this guy isn't one of them...at least not anymore.

#147188 What vehicle do you own / drive?

I think there is already a thread like this, or at least this seems familiar.

#147227 What vehicle do you own / drive?

I don't even drive in real life. I ride a black horse and carry a sword & shield with me, just like the medieval times.

#147236 No hdmi cord will work with my wii u

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 06:19 PM in Wii U Hardware Help

look at it, in a different TV.. if its the same.. turn it back and get a new one from the retailer.. Some wii Us dont play with the hdmi.. thats why

If that is the case there is probably something wrong with the HDMI ports and perhaps there is a bad production run of Wii Us. Sometimes HDMI port failures happen. My 20GB PS3's HDMI port somehow broke but the composite port works like it should, however my 60GB PS3's HDMI has no problem.

#147261 Theism

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 06:44 PM in The Café

Lots of religion posts lately...I thought this was a gaming site? Lol

I personally am a Roman Catholic, and while I don't follow all the rules, I try my hardest and try to make the best possible relationship with myself and God

Isn't this particular section for anything non-gaming, including religion?

I am atheist and a former Christian but left the fold due to my "faith" falling like a house of cards. I respect religion and the religious but just have no part of it any longer.

#147372 Atheism.

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 08:40 PM in The Café

Is it even possible for someone to truly be an atheist?

It seems like everyone who says they are an atheist would be more correct as labeling themselves agnostic

Or an agnostic atheist?
