#147395 Which game are you playing right now ?

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 09:13 PM in General Gaming

Playing Final Fantasy XIII on PS3. Beat it a few nights ago but still playing it getting the platinum trophy, then moving on to XIII-2. I know this game gets hammered on by many FF fans and didn't like it at first but it grew on me eventually.

#147372 Atheism.

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 08:40 PM in The Café

Is it even possible for someone to truly be an atheist?

It seems like everyone who says they are an atheist would be more correct as labeling themselves agnostic

Or an agnostic atheist?

#147130 Atheism.

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 03:04 PM in The Café

A former Christian, now an Atheist. I no longer agree with the Bible and what it says as truth when the majority of it makes no sense whatsoever (the contents in the Bible is sourced from third-hand information where much of the original is completely lost). I take what I've learned from science and evolution over anything from a leather-covered book held by holy men behind a wooden pulpit. The god of the Bible also appears to me as capricious, angry, hateful, jealous, and deadly yet people tell me he is peaceful and kind. This post is perfectly frank and isn't to offend the Christians on this forum as I respect anyone that believes in Christianity, but this guy isn't one of them...at least not anymore.

#129900 CAPU's Pikmin Club visit and enjoy a daily dose of pikmin

Posted by Dark Link on 15 November 2012 - 09:48 AM in The Café

+1

Also I love Pikmin 2 way more than I did the first game. I am a proud owner of a black label copy on GameCube (relatively rare but not sure how valuable it is).

#174299 Why are people doubting Wii U now because of PS4?

Posted by Dark Link on 21 February 2013 - 04:01 PM in Wii U Hardware

Not me, as a matter of fact I am buying a Wii U because the PS4 announce was disappointing. Sony has a lot to prove for me to buy one before a slim comes out. If this thing will offer solid jRPGs like Ni no Kuni then I am sold, but I believe the Wii U will be the jRPG console this generation.

#129895 Anybody who wont get wii U at launch day?

ME! :D

#149465 Up or Down How will You Wii U

Posted by Dark Link on 18 December 2012 - 08:45 PM in Wii U Hardware

You know after seeing a Wii U standing vertically it looked cool, particularly the black model. I might stand mine up (when I get one) to save space so it can sit nicely right next to my HDTV.

#125797 Up or Down How will You Wii U

Posted by Dark Link on 07 November 2012 - 08:11 PM in Wii U Hardware

Unlike my Wii, the Wii U will lay down flat.

#252524 Does IGN hate Nintendo?

Posted by Dark Link on 21 October 2013 - 01:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

This is why I don't read GameSpot and IGN anymore. Many of their high score reviews are paid.

10 is the new 8, and 5 is the new 8.

#150001 Wii U Pro Controller disapointment, needs a fix!

Posted by Dark Link on 20 December 2012 - 10:41 AM in Wii U Hardware

Not all games will be designed for that pro controller as it is technically a secondary peripheral. I am guessing Zelda will not be one of those games either. I understand NSMBU should be compatible with the controller because the game can work perfectly fine without the touch screen. The controller is mostly intended for third party titles and local multiplayer, from my understanding.

#150033 Wii U Pro Controller disapointment, needs a fix!

Posted by Dark Link on 20 December 2012 - 11:39 AM in Wii U Hardware

This thread fails in so many ways.
The prp controller is an add on. And its also not nintendo fault its up to each game dev.
Like zombiu there is no way to use the pro controller, but assassin creed you can easily do it.
Mairo i understand why they didnt. Its because it would throw people off. The wii mote is much simpler to use.

An option to use the Pro Controller wouldn't hurt though. If people get thrown off by the Pro Controller they can just use the Wii Mote and leave the Pro controller for those of us that prefer it.

#149334 So it's odd seeing this many systems jsut sitting on shelves.

Posted by Dark Link on 18 December 2012 - 02:27 PM in Wii U Hardware

Local Best Buy has them in stock, it appears that it wouldn't be so difficult to get one unlike everyone else said...at least here by the Huron shores of Michigan. I am not getting one now though. Waiting for Pikmin 3 and Monster Hunter, possible even holding off further for Zelda or Metroid depending on how the game lineup is performing between these major titles.

#147404 How powerful is the PlayStation Vita?

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 09:38 PM in General Gaming

The Vita is more equivalent to the original Xbox in horsepower rather than the 360 or PS3. I have a Vita since the release of the First Edition and all I can say the graphics are nowhere near as good as the PS3. For a handheld sure they are good but don't hold a candle to the home console counterpart. Of course that is to be expected because it's a handheld and this handheld uses the same architecture as the iPad/iPhone but just more advanced chipsets. Go play Uncharted for example, you'll notice a lot of visual shortcomings to the original game on the PS3 like pixellated fire and lower than the PSVita's native resolution. Of course this game could be poorly optimized so it might not be the best example. What the Vita has over the PS3 is the RAM, giving the Vita an advantage over the PS3 in terms of multitasking and would probably run Skyrim better, if the graphics have to be toned down a significant bit.

#147399 What's the most expensive video game you've ever bought?

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 09:19 PM in General Gaming

I think about 70 for a collector's edition or something, don't remember what games I have purchased that exceeded the 60 dollar price tag. Most of my games are actually 30 and under, even for this generation's consoles. For PC I only buy Steam games when they go on sale (and the sales are usually games worth buying too!) as I paid enough money for a behemoth that is my gaming PC.

#129612 consoles and how old they are today

Posted by Dark Link on 14 November 2012 - 09:36 PM in General Gaming

EDIT: I have mistaken this thread. I thought this was a thread about the systms we own and how much we had them or how old we think they are. I'll come back and dig up some history of how old they exactly are and repost. Until then enjoy my list of the consoles I DO own and how old I think my particular consoles are.

360 7 years
Wii 5 years
PS3 4 years

3DS 1 year
PSVita less than 1 year old (as with every non-Japanese Vita)

Retro/Previous gen systems-
(This is a hard one for me as they are so old and received the majority of them when I started retro collecting so I am making a rough guess on their age)

Atari2600 around 35 years (can't believe how old this thing is and it STILL WORKS! zOMG!)
Atari 5200 around 30 years
Atari 7800 around 25-28 years
Intellivision around 30 years
Colecovision around 25 years
NES (all 3 consoles) older than me (I am 24)
Sega Genesis/MegaDrive around 20 years
Turbo Graphix 16 around 20 years
SNES around 20 years
3D0 17-19 years
Atari Jaguar 17-20 years
Sega Saturn 17 years
CDi (yes I have this abysmal piece of horse scat) 16-20 years
PS1 16 years
N64 15 years
PS2 10 years
GameCube 8 years
Xbox 8 years

Retro/past gen handheld consoles-
GameBoy around 20 years
Sega GameGear around 20 years
GameBoy Color 12 years
GameBoy Advanced 10 years
DS 7 years old
PSP 5 years old

#147261 Theism

Posted by Dark Link on 12 December 2012 - 06:44 PM in The Café

Lots of religion posts lately...I thought this was a gaming site? Lol

I personally am a Roman Catholic, and while I don't follow all the rules, I try my hardest and try to make the best possible relationship with myself and God

Isn't this particular section for anything non-gaming, including religion?

I am atheist and a former Christian but left the fold due to my "faith" falling like a house of cards. I respect religion and the religious but just have no part of it any longer.

#152414 Favorite Legend of Zelda game?

Posted by Dark Link on 26 December 2012 - 10:49 PM in General Gaming

A Link to the Past, but Zelda II is my close second favorite. For the 3D games it is Majora's Mask.

#120173 Who was/is dissapointed with the PS3?

Posted by Dark Link on 21 October 2012 - 07:25 PM in General Gaming

No this is certainly not a hate thread.PS1,PS2,DC,GC and Xbox is my favourite time in my gaming life. The first game i played was chuckie egg on an Amstrad CPC-464,and yes,i had a green screen ;)

Im just pointing out some of the mistakes sony have made, and continue to make.

All three companies in the console market are guilty of this. Sony is no different in the grand scheme of things. No console is perfect, and no company that build them is perfect either. They all make mistakes and still continue on with them to the next generation. Nobody in here seems to mention Nintendo's ongoing policy on region lock, which the 3DS is the first handheld platform (unless you count the handful of DSi games in existence) to employ the technology. Nintendo didn't learn from Operation Rainfall, and they are resuming their agenda on locking down on imported titles. Now that online play will become a major feature of the Wii U, don't expect to mod your system without Nintendo banning you from their network. Are you, kind sir, disappointed in the Wii U and Nintendo as well? By your logic, you should be.
