#240374 Disney infinity launch thread

Posted by Dharmanator on 19 August 2013 - 08:37 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Ok what is the deal with these games and those figures? How does it actually work or what do they do? Sorry for the lack of research but I saw a game display and those pricey little figures. I thought they were action figures for little kids but had something to do with the game.

Here is the deal. Disney spent $100 million on this game/figure collecting travesty. The goal is for you to spend about $400 on what should be a $60 game.

These figures unlock certain "playsets" for you to Run and jump up and down in. Other things unlock cars, scenery and stuff. There is also a sandbox mode . You can look up all this stuff. I lost complete interest when I found out what the scam was.

I best stay away from it. I could easily spend the $385 minimum it would cost to unlock everything. 8)

Rather have a PS 4

#239648 Wonderful 101 is the reason to own a Wii U

Posted by Dharmanator on 16 August 2013 - 02:03 PM in Wii U Games and Software

if i had not already got a WiiU, W101 wouldn't make me want to buy a WiiU, it's not worth buying when the PS4 is coming out & is only £50 more.

The price of the PS4 is irrelevant. The Wii U IS worth buying due to the exclusive games you cannot play on the other systems.

The TC did not say it was the system to do it all.

By now we must realize the Wii U is rarely the choice if you only want 1 system.

As a second system to supplement your gaming needs it is very much worthy of purchase thanks to games like Wonderful 101.

#239584 A theory on the Wii U and 3rd party support

Posted by Dharmanator on 16 August 2013 - 06:45 AM in Wii U Hardware

I would like to point out that install base is not everything.

The Wii had a huge early lead in consoles sold due to the popularity of the gimmick. But when the dust settled, the 3rd party games were far more popular on the PS and Xbox.

Same thing will happen here except for the fact the public was not enthralled with this gimmick. We won't even have the benefit of the huge install base.

Nintendo should have made the platform more powerful and more RAM. Price it a bit higher... $400 or so.

Oh well. .. too late now! 8)

#239415 A theory on the Wii U and 3rd party support

It is my belief that with Nintendo' s choice in hardware the last couple of generations they have made themselves the 3rd choice in most gamers minds.

Some people here seem baffled on why outside developers are slow to come to (or back to) the Wii U.

Last generation I had all 3 systems. I never even considered the Wii for anything other then Nintendo titles. ... for obvious reasons.

History will repeat itself I'm this generation.

The gamepad is more of a hindrance then a benefit in development. Why would a developer want to spend extra resources an oddity that will certainly lag far behind Sony and MS in sales?

I do really like the Wii U. But when Nintendo themselves barley used the gamepad in Pikmin what need is there for others to go the extra mile?

So in short the Wii U will always be the 2nd tier system in most homes and will be there for the Wonderful 101, mario, Zelda...etc

#239225 Splinter Cell Blacklist is getting really good reviews

Posted by Dharmanator on 14 August 2013 - 02:08 PM in Wii U Games and Software

why dont ign review scores ever line up with the written review?

That is a damn good question. I was wondering that myself.

If a Wii U only game had the same negatives it would certainly not get a 9.2...

But maybe I am just paranoid.

Carry on.

#238424 PS4 launch=Wii U price cut?

Posted by Dharmanator on 10 August 2013 - 10:48 PM in Wii U Hardware

Get rid of the gamepad? Are you guys nuts? Even though it is a gimmick it is the only thing that differentiates it from the competition.

The gamepad is not holding up the Wii U. The crappy specs are.

The last thing you want for a system is to split up the community. It is small enough already.

The price cut is coming. They just wanted to milk the early adapter crazies for about a year. More games and a lower price will put them in a stronger 3rd place to start next year.

Wow didn't realise this was ment to be a launch game!

Sad but true. File it under "why the Wii u failed with bad ports and no original games."

Yes . I am bitter because I was duped into tHinking the Wii U would be worth damn 9 months ago.

But I am happy I will get 2 good games before the PS 4 comes out.

#238270 Should SSB abandon casual players?

Posted by Dharmanator on 10 August 2013 - 11:56 AM in Wii U Games and Software

If they did this, then who would buy the game? The name Nintendo doesn't exactly bring up visions of hardcore gamers.

Die-hard fans yes. But not what I consider hardcore.

The system is being shunned by most segments except the initial burst of the die-hards.

The real hardcore gamers are waiting for the Xbone and PS 4.

The wii u is there for the second system crowd.

Finally this game is coming out.

I had thIs pre-ordered and paid for back in November or so for a December 2012 release.

Yes it was a launch window game.

So was Pikmin 3. But that was worth the wait.

Side note. ..I wonder if the Wii U wouldn't be such an absolute failure if these were available 7 months ago.
