Yes, Nintendo becoming the dominant system all around would be an absolute worst case scenario for big publishing houses everywhere.

This is because Nintendo systems are the only systems with nintendo games, and nintendo games are HUGE competition.

If nintendo systems were the highest selling of the generation AND was actually supported by third parties, leaving ps4 and 720 with secondary 'hardcore' numbers, big publishing houses would lose BILLIONS in revenue sales just because of competition with Nintendo games.

i may have misread this, are you saying if the wiiU was the number 1 selling console, 3rd party game developers would lose money? Surely...if they all supported the wiiU then theyd just sell on the wiiU. I bought the wiiU for the gamepad and the new interaction between that and the tv..not for Nintendo games, that may seem silly, but i presumed the wiiU would get full 3rd party support. If the wiiU could get 3rd party support then it would sell a hell of a lot more consoles.i just don't think Nintendo games will be enough to sell alot..in Europe anyway. So unless Nintendo can get 3rd party back onside its just going to lose against the new consoles on the horizon.

Would be quite the publicity stunt if they did change their minds and release it this month. I was impressed with the demo but wasn't sure id buy it..then this announcement angered me..as it was another blow for the wiiU. if they did release it this month now i would buy it..i guess ya want what ya cant have. Yeah! Because they really slapped us in the face with awesome hardware, the most ambitious software undertakings they've ever gone through. Really pushing themselves to move much more quickly than normal, taking greater risks, and putting it all on the line... For $299 and $349. Selling at a loss. And then adding amazing capabilities like mii inverse, tvii, a truly innovative gamepad, etc.

The system isn't perfect. Rarely is such a fast-moving ambitious project, that turns a company like Nintendo on its head, perfect. But theyre continuing to listen and continuing to work.

I'm thinking of it this way, if it's true or not. When the Xbox 360 and PS3 came out, they were something new. The graphics were great, all the new features were awesome. Developers were excited to get their hands on the HD and stuff. But now the Wii U is out, and the 1080p and such is nothing new. It's just another console. When the PS4 and Xbox 720 come out, they probably won't have as many games as the 360/PS3 either at the same point.

And as another point worth noting, games like BF3, or Sims 3 or whatever, won't come out for Wii U because their next game is coming fairly soon, so it would be pointless. Once their next game comes, they'll probably release it for Wii U aswell.

well, they're also going to play ps3 games aswel. This year there are some awesome looking games (like next-Gen looking) with 'last of us' & 'beyond', then there's GTA and launch games..i.e killzone 4 for 1. So games already available may look better again..slightly, i don't think they will have the same problem as the wiiU, like you said...HD isn't something new, its all about the gamepad IMO for the wiiU, lack of games = lack of sales. By the time wiiU gets going the ps4 will be selling millions

Lol, sorry for more doom n gloom threads..its just having spent nearly £500 on this system im becoming more and more worried about my investment. I need the 3rd party games, im not a huge Nintendo fan (don't meen that in a bad way) just never been into Zelda etc..but I'll buy them anyway..for a new experience. Just hate all these 3rd parties for..what seems like they are pulling out on this.
just look so far, delays, no dlc, no dates, everything seems so..uneasy at the mo.

im just concerned. Obviously if wiiU sold more then we would benefit as these 3rd parties have more incentive to make games..but by delaying games (ahhem ubi, rayman?) this must put potential wiiU buyers off. We need GOOD news fast

At DICE, nobody has been talking about the new Wii U projects they have started, only the Wii U projects that have just been cancelled. Platform is in serious trouble. Publishers and developers from the US, UK, France, Germany, and Australia mainly. Pubs and devs never recoiled from PS3 like they seem to be with Wii U (though this is anecdotal). There was always the confidence that the numbers would get there over time with PS3. I'm not sensing that with Wii U. I had a data point yesterday at lunch with a high budget Wii U game that was hoping to sell "millions" over time. It only managed "tens of thousands". It is one of the top rated games for the platform.

so, you may say its Sony/xbox fanboys making this up..but sales show it just hasn't made a hit. The lack of 3rd party is making me start to hate my wiiU..i thought it was the best thing yet..but now the games are stale and there's nothing new to keep us excited. If ps4 is out by Xmas..and that's announced 20th this month I might sell up now, before value really drops. I've spent alot on the wiiU..this is so gutting.

What annoys me, and I know this is a different publisher/developer whatever, is that aliens colonial marines is launched on Tuesday but only the ps360 & PC versions Wiiu owners gotta wait. Funny how Sega or whoever aren't doing the same thing as ubi eh? Oh wait. No its not. Just wtf is going on?!?!

Hello, i'm hoping you can shed a little light on when Aliens is being released? all other console version have been giving a release date while the wii U date is up in the air..with no information other than - released Q1? ..so by the end of March? The trouble with this, like Black Ops2 suffered..is that most gamers have either a ps3/360/pc along with the wiiU. Most people will not wait, especially if we don't have a date to wait for? Black Ops online is very poor in terms of online gamers compared to ps3/360. I think if the wiiU had been released in time for the launch of that game, the WiiU would have sold alot more. why will people wait when they can go get it next month for the other consoles? it's a shame, the wiiU is a great console, offers new experiences..but gamers are hardly the most patient of people..your doing yourself out of sales by not giving specific dates.
This also applies to the DLC for black ops2 aswel...every other version has a date...next month. Treyarch give the wiiu gamers cryptic messages...they won't say 'yes' or 'no' to whether we are getting the DLC as was promised..£55 i paid for that game, by the time the DLC is announced...if ever, who will buy it 6months down the line? then they will think there is no point in supporting the wiiU with future games etc..as nobody is buying it.
sorry to rant, it's just frustrating.

its nintendo we should be shouting a giant F U to

so, just got home from work and noticed the wiiU was on. the wife tells me, ''oh ye, faye(my 1yr old) ejected a disc earlier'' - great i thought...gamepad wasn't on the charge dock as i'd put it in it's case in cupboard...knowing by now, it would have been on all day..battery would have died. so, i turn the tv on...it says turn on gamepad to check for gamepad software update. my gamepad won't turn on. i've plugged the cable direct into the gamepad as dock wasn't showing the battery charge...neither is the cable directly in charging it now.

SO...has anyone else had their battery run down completely? usually, i'd put it on charge before it ran down...

what's been the outcome? will it just take a while to start charging now? or is this another issue with the wiiU?

ok, fixed it. stupid..but you have to unplug the battery then plug it back and it will charge again.
