#132115 Wii-U box not sealed

Posted by PRP777 on 18 November 2012 - 08:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

I think there are no seals I thought I saw a unboxing on you tube and the guy went for his box cutter and then noticedthere was no seal I would not be worried as long as the system was wraped in the plasic you should be good

That's the thing though the bags were opened. I thought they were suppose to be tightly sealed to prevent dust and scratches? I haven't turned it on yet, but I hope they weren't throwing it around. I expected it to be factory sealed.

Should I be concerned? The box didn't have it's seal on each end. The controller didn't have the green tape to seal it in the white bag, and the console itself didn't have any green tape on it. The reason I'm concerned is because I watched unboxing videos with all the seals, and I recall my wii having these same seals. I picked mine up at Gamestop. I asked another customer if his had seals on the box, and there wasn't for his either. I didn't see if his was sealed inside.

The only thing that had green tape was the Wii sensor bar. It's covered by Nintendo for a year. I think I'm going to stop buying consoles from Gamestop. I don't like their policies of opening sealed copies of games, and sealing it to me as a new copy. Not cool at all. Especially, if I'm buying someone a game as a gift.

None of them are sealed, the box is really really secure, and the gamepad doesnt come with tape

The white bag the game pad was in was opened, and so was the bag the console was in.

Another thing I found odd was that there was no Club Nintendo points. Also, the HDMI cable is silver plated but perhaps that's just nit picking. I hope this console has nothing wrong with it. I'm goiing to test it out after lunch. Oh, and one other thing when I hit the power button on the game pad it turned on. I found that odd because normally you would have to charge these devices because the batteries are fully depleted.

Then it has previously been opened. You're too late to take it back though if you've left the store already.

If there's something wrong with it I can take it back. The guy said he had two others in the back.

Was there plastic sticky stuff on it? Like clear plastic tape that you had to peel away from the console?

No, there was no tape or anything sticky on it.

#131422 Wii U: 7 Things You Must Know

Posted by PRP777 on 17 November 2012 - 10:28 AM in Wii U Hardware

I know that feel, I bought a 32GB class 10.
...And another for my 3DS.

Did some kafoodeling with my external hard drives and cleared out the 500GB for my wii u though.
Was using it for torrenting, but using a smaller drive for that now.

That site still functions for you? Seems like they're taking down all the download links.

You do know that you can save games on the internal flash drive storage. As for external options a hard drive will work. As for an external flash drive it may well work but its not been confirmed to my knowledge.

I'm aware of that but seeing as my 8GB will be reduced to 4.2 GB due to the Wii U operating system and the account data, etc. I guess I jumped the gun because I had just went out and brought a 32 GB class 10 SD that I was intending to use to make up for the lack of space in the internal drive. It's kind of a set back now because I have to go out and buy an external just to be able to save my game data. Makes no sense as to why they would do this. My only conclusion would be to prevent hacked gamesaves.

I don't remember referencing a website in my post.

Torrentz

That's a bummer that you need an external to do gamesaves. Would I be able to use a flashdrive to store saves?

#131945 Wii U's RAM is slower than PS3/Xbox 360.

If only they gave us the option to upgrade ram ourselves like you can do with a PC. <_<

Has anyone figured out how to set the videos in HD?

#136038 Wii U not reading Wii saves!

Posted by PRP777 on 22 November 2012 - 05:47 AM in Wii U Hardware

So you're just inserting the Wii disc and the SD card you kept from your Wii, and expecting it to work? I honestly don't know if it's going to work or not, I was under the impression you had to do the data migration from the Wii to the Wii U.

http://www.ign.com/a...-save-transfers

That's only if you want to keep your old account that's stored on the Wiis internal memory. By any chance do you know how to set the HD option on youtube from the Wii U?

You performed the proper migration from your Wii to your Wii U ? If so, I don't know - ask Nintendo.

I no longer have a Wii. I wonder if I could use a gamesave hack. I don't want to have to unlock all the characters again.

#136027 Wii U not reading Wii saves!

Posted by PRP777 on 22 November 2012 - 05:05 AM in Wii U Hardware

Question for you. I tried to play a Wii game on the Wii U, and it didn't read my save data for that game. When I popped it in the pc I saw the files were there. Also, I had purchased two games Mario 64 and Super Mario. I was able to see them from the SD section of the Wii menu, but I couldn't load them to play. What can I do to get this to work?

How is it BS? They probably didn't have enough time, they probably received the kits late for the Wii U version, we can't comment on something we don't know. It could of been because of laziness as well.

That's a better video.

Exactly it was because of laziness that's why I call BS on the excuse they used of them not having enough time. What do you have to say about the stability of the game? It's been freezing on me and plenty of others. I'm not blaming Ubisoft for that though that's Nintendo's fault for making s cheap rehash and having the nerve to call it the successor to the previous console. They claim they're taking a loss ha the only one taking a loss is us buying overpriced outdated tech.

That was before because they thought that they don't have the time enough to do the same as the ps360 versions.
http://mynintendonew...other-versions/

"It’s not like some radically diminished version" He's not just talking about the Wii in comparison but he also seems to be implying subliminally that it's not a spot on port.

So?
It's more modern, thus ac3 would run on it just as easily as the 360.
Their spending habits weren't what I quoted you about.

That's only after the fact that the game had to suffer compromises such as graphical cut backs lighting and particle effects.

nah, do you think nintendo doest know what a bottleneck is? a company that has been building consoles for 29 years? i really think that they know something that we dont, or we dont know about theyr bussiness strategy so, start to claim nintendo's death its pointless seriously, i believe they know what they are doing

you need to calm down, take a breath and enjoy the console =O, if then you have the need to buy the next xbox or ps go on :)

PD: i remember an article from shinen the dev from nano-assault saying something about that the wii u avoid the typical bottlenecks, i dont know how but they said it

How do you expect for me to relax when we have Iwata apologizing on behalf of Nintendo's obvious F up? I don't take to kindly into being advertised something that's 3X more powerful then the competitors consoles when it's clearly not. I paid 300 plus tax and 60 plus tax only to wait til the console gets patched for the game to function properly? You call this acceptable?

These CPU specs were taken whent the system was at IDLE in a menu.
Most PCs now a days will cut the CPU power down to save energy. As soon as you fire up a game or do something heavy on the PC the CPU will function at peak capactiy. I know this because my friend said his PC was advertised at having a 3.0 GHz processor. While at the Windows desktop it only showed 1.5 Ghz. As soon as we launched a game, i went to the desktop and checked again and it was at 3.0 GHz just as the box said it should be. I changed his power settings and bam it was always listed as 3.0GHz.

Ill wait untill Nintendo gives us the real story.

You have a point but this console isn't next gen.

#140334 Wii U clock speeds are found by marcan

Posted by PRP777 on 29 November 2012 - 08:53 AM in Wii U Hardware

Huh?

AC3 on the Wii U's lightning is fine you can't really notice the particle effects.

The example is pixelated.

"According to Assassin’s Creed 3 game designer Steven Masters, the Wii U version will be missing some technical features that are available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Because the developer didn’t have enough time to properly port Assassin’s Creed 3 Wii U to Nintendo’s new console, the game won’t include some of the lighting and particle effects present in other versions."

Development time excuses aside. I call BS because they took something out that was already in the Xbox and PS3 versions of the game to begin with it doesn't take that long to encode those minor effects. They could have had it done in a day at best.

You seem to not have a grasp on what defines a next gen console.

Next gen is the next generation of hardware a company releases.

That's not what I meant. It's on par with the current consoles and won't be able to compete with the new consoles Sony and Microsoft are going to release. They said it was 3X more powerful then the current consoles they lied.
