#196535 If Iwata doesn't provide Wii U success by 2015 he needs to step down

Posted by McMurphy on 18 April 2013 - 10:40 AM in General Gaming

I love how people rag on Nintendo for just "rereleasing old games with new twists" whenever hey, guess what, every game franchise in existence does this.

I think the difference between Nintendo and other publishers, however, is how their exclusive developers handle IPs. Nintendo doesn't, for example, have someone like Naughty Dog (Crash, Jak, Uncharted, Last of Us, etc) who is willing (or able) to make great IPs AND being brave enough to move onto a new franchise after a trilogy. Nintendo has some of the best exclusive developers handling the most iconic characters in video games, but there is not a whole lot of venturing into new IP territory.

#196532 Nintendo eShop Card

Posted by McMurphy on 18 April 2013 - 10:32 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Time of Manufacture is irrelevant.

Actually, the time of the card's production is quite relevant. Initially, eshop and Wii Shop points were produced on seperate cards. Meaning, if you bought an Eshop card meant for the 3DS, you were out of luck when it came to redeeming the points on your Wii. That said, the concern is rather irrelevant at this point since most retailers should have long since pulled those versions of the Nintendo point cards from the racks.

In direct response to the initial question, yes, the point cards displayed should work without issue.

#196388 Injustice: Gods Among Us Review

Posted by McMurphy on 17 April 2013 - 09:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Good review. Just reading about the game makes me want to dig my childhood comic book collection out from the back of the closet; particularly, the Superman "Armageddon: 2001" annual in which Batman kills a rogue Superman.

Welcome to the community. I am a hockey fan, too, although I follow the Minnesota Wild. :)

#196370 Nintendo: Our digital sales are soaring

Posted by McMurphy on 17 April 2013 - 09:15 PM in General Gaming

Perhaps such confidence will push Activision into making a deal, finally. Until consumers see BO2 and other Activision titles as digital downloads for the Wii U's Eshop, there is no real hope for BO2's map packs.

#196365 Nintendo Direct brought the big guns on 3DS, but the Wii U......Forgetful?

Posted by McMurphy on 17 April 2013 - 09:12 PM in General Gaming

I have a feeling (which is really nothing more than a hope) that Nintendo will focus more on the Wii U software on the E3 stage. Admittedly, it was disappointing that so much time was spent on upcoming 3DS titles rather than Wii U ones, but I am thrilled to hear more about all the console and services updates. With a library of digital downloads through Wii's virtual consoles, there are some titles sitting on a SD card that I am looking forward to placing on the Wii U's memory with Miiverse support.

#195544 Resident Evil Revelations Miiverse Features

Posted by McMurphy on 16 April 2013 - 02:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

That's great! I was initially a bit disappointed to hear that the console remake was not a Wii U exclusive, so the Miiverse features are enough to convince me that my pre-order is worth keeping.

#195523 Monster Hunter Update Coming April 16th

Posted by McMurphy on 16 April 2013 - 01:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I am all for being able to play the game via the gamepad. Granted, I will always prefer having a nice sized television to do the bulk of the gaming on, but with a game like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate that demands a good chunk of time invested into it, having the option to continue playing via the gamepad anywhere in my apartment will help matters greatly.

#194570 Gunslingers ~ The Nintendo Wii U Clan for Adults.

Posted by McMurphy on 14 April 2013 - 04:02 PM in Competitions & Matchmaking

hi, fancying joining your mh3u clan if you'll have me. just turned 31 and after relaxed gaming online

We would love to have you! I will send you the necessary clan information in private message. :)

As we do some last minute laundry before the work week starts on Monday, here are some exciting updates taking place within the Gunslingers:

The Gunslingers is OVER 6,000 Members Strong! An incredible milestone happened this week. Within a few months shy over our six year anniversary as a gaming group, the Gunslingers gained our 6,000th member. We have had over two thousand fellow parent and adult gamers join our posse since this time last year. I sincerely thank everyone for their continued support in making us the #1 home for gamers looking for a casual gaming experience!

Google Documents Now Supported in GS Forums! We have many members interested in putting together events and features for their fellow gamers. To encourage said creativity, we have installed the ability for any registered member to embed Google documents they have made in forum posts by merely using "[googledoc]" tags. Enjoy!

Two New Games Added to GS Arcade! One of the perks of being a Gunslinger member is getting access to our retro-style custom arcade in which we routinely install new titles. Of recent, we have added "De-Animator," a title based on Lovecraft's work, and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," which is based on the television game show of the same name. Can you earn the highscore? Is that your final answer?

The GS Voice Chat Channel is Live! In addition to your in-game chat options, the Gunslingers also have a Raidcall channel that all members are welcome to use. The channel is aptly entitled "Gunslinger Gaming." It's free. It's extremely light on resources. And it is very easy to set up!

Thank you for taking the time to read the most recent Gunslinger updates. If you are a fellow mature, casual gamer looking for a gaming experience away from the typical drama, you are welcome to join us in the fun!

#188059 Can I Play MULTIPLAYER with Gamepad and Wii U Pro at Same time (Black Ops 2)?

Posted by McMurphy on 29 March 2013 - 11:04 PM in Wii U Games and Software

When your first at multiplayer menu you just press start on the pro controller and sign them in as guest.

If you both have Nintendo Network accounts on the same console, you should also have the option to have player-two sign in under their account rather than simply as a guest. We do that all the time so we can both rank up while we play.

Typically, she will use the wiimote-and-nunchuck set up on the TV while I play on the gamepad. Not needing to split the screen is fantastic.

#187156 Gunslingers ~ The Nintendo Wii U Clan for Adults.

Posted by McMurphy on 29 March 2013 - 09:07 PM in Competitions & Matchmaking

I'm 28, I would love to join, I have a headset and I play BLOPSII regularly, though I try to stick to objective play, I'm not overly concerned with K/D.

Fantastic! We certainly have a fellow GSers that love the objective games, so you will fit right in. I have sent you the clan information in a private message. Please, let me know if you have any questions along the way. :)

I'm 22. Can I join?

I'm sorry. Your thewii.com profile states that you are 14 years old. I wish you the best in your BO2 endeavors!

Go back to MKW, McMurphy.

Oh, I will most certainly be on board for Mario Kart Wii U. I can't wait!

Quick Update: Several of our members have picked up Need for Speed: Most Wanted for the Wii U, so we are starting a GS car club for the game. As with our clan's other Wii U fronts, older gamers are welcome join us! :)

#186814 Gunslingers ~ The Nintendo Wii U Clan for Adults.

Posted by McMurphy on 27 March 2013 - 07:42 AM in Competitions & Matchmaking

I'm 22. I could try out for your BLOPS2 clan. I have a headset but I haven't played forever so I'm kind of rusty.

Awesome! We aren't overly concerned about kill/death ratios and the like; rather, we focus on the socialibility of the clan experience. I have private messaged you the necessary clan information. :)

#186660 Does having downloaded games make my wii u more valuable?

Posted by McMurphy on 26 March 2013 - 10:12 PM in Wii U Hardware

If you sell your Wii U console on Craig's List or Ebay, then, yeah, probably so because it would be up to you to reformat the system. By most reports, user-end reformatting will not erase the ability for the next owner to re-download your digital purchases.

However, retailers such as Gamestop have amended their trade-in policies. They now ship off the consoles to refurbishing plants to do a more advance wiping of the harddrive so prior owner digital purchases are not accessible. In this situation, no, your console will not be more valuable. Besides, retailers won't make a distinction in how much they would give you, regardless.

#186658 Gamecube Virtual Console Suggestions

Posted by McMurphy on 26 March 2013 - 10:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I would love to see Eternal Darkness, Tales of Symphonia, and Baten Kaitos added to the virtual console. These are in addition of the usual first party picks, of course.

#186647 Gunslingers ~ The Nintendo Wii U Clan for Adults.

Attention all older gamers! Some of you reading this message are just like me. Your youth consisted of blowing on bottom of cartidges, whether they were for the NES, SNES, or the N64. Your childhood was sans internet cheatsheets so you had to rely on the wit of your schoolmates and the information typed in game magazines on your local retail racks. You have indulged your Nintendo memories by picking up the Wii U.

Because of the above reasons, I invite you to join the Nintendo Wii U Gunslingers!

It is about time that us older gamers formed a clan. There are plenty of obligations and negativity wishing to take up your time in your career, in your personal life, and certainly during your online travels. It doesn't need to be that way. The Gunslingers clan, however existential as it may seem, seek to inject some positivity and even escapism in your daily obligations. Come. Kick your feet up. Decompress. Be merry! Everyone deserves that, and, regardless if you are new to online gaming or a veteran, you will be welcomed by the rest of us. Share in our cheer!

We currently have three Nintendo Wii U Clan fronts:

and

and

*The above list will be edited as updates occur.

Out of respect for the creators of TheWiiU.com site and their hard work in putting together a community for us, please keep general conversations locally. That said, you are invited to join up with the Nintendo Wii U Gunslingers for all your clan wants and needs! Reply to this thread or private message me if interested.

#179710 Dragon Quest X

Posted by McMurphy on 05 March 2013 - 08:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I am also waiting (im)patiently for further news on whether or not Dragon Quest X will be making its way to North American shores. Dragon Warrior IV (NES) and Dragon Quest VIII (PS2) are among my top ten favorite games of all time. After being forced to being content with the shallow content of Dragon Quest: Swords for the Wii generation of Nintendo, I sincerely hope we are not passed up on this go around.
