I have been immensely enjoying Pearl Jam's new album Lightning Bolt. The singles from the album are great, but personal favorite track is "Pendulum".

I wouldn't mind a Pokemon/Dragon Quest-like RPG with slightly darker visuals, like Metroid or Twilight Princess.
I very much hope that the newest Dragon Quest hits North American shores.

Site News and Feedback
Well, I think there are two arguments being made here:
1.) No chat because of technical commitment. If the person responsible for the tech support side of the site doesn't want install a chat, then there isn't going to be an official chat. Simple as that.
Now, if the issue is side-stepping that avenue, there are free alternatives that are fairly decent. Trust me, I am ALL about doing things cheap. For example, there is Chatango group chats, which can be quite easily embedded anywhere in the forums and very flexible in regards to resizing and customizing color schemes. Its moderation tools, which are simplistic, include reviewing chat history, banning usernames and IPs, and assembling a moderation team.
The pros: Very flexible, free, and it can be given a title with the promotion link description so, if any should embed it elsewhere, it will always advertise this site.
The cons: The chat won't be tied into the forum's user database. So, if it is a concern of banning someone from the forums AND the chat, those are two different acts.
I use a free chat program on my site, but it serves a different type of community. This addresses an unofficial desire to make a www.thewiiu.com chat center rather than something more official appearing, which will involve tech administration. Of course, if you are someone who wants the moderation staff to front money and the time to attempt to get past the wishes of the site owner/technician, then I do believe that is a display of unwarranted entitlement.
2.) No chat because of time commitment. From all the comments made by Mournblade in this and other chat related topics, this concern is the real reason there isn't a chat. And it is a very valid one. Sure, it doesn't seem like a big deal to maintain a chat, but the moderation of it (assuming you want a chat that actually demands some dignity being displayed by its users) can be an immense task. It is also largely thankless task because a moderator often gets treated like a bad guy in the whole affair. Can a chat be maintained properly? Yes, of course. A properly maintained chat could most certainly be at thewiiu.com, but it demands time...time that someone (and most likely a team of someones) has to put in for free. Since the site isn't an utility, expecting people to undertake a whole set of headaches for free because of our collective whim is unfair.

Using unsophisticated language isn't immature.
By itself? No, it isn't. But to use unsophisticated language as a way to belittle another person's viewpoint is.

Everything is an argument to you people.
Can't people just say I think this and you think that without someone coming in saying Y U IS ARGUE WAH WAH IS ARGUE ON INTERNETS FORUMS! WAH
Your criticism would be more founded if xWydrAx had actually (de)constructed his sentences in that manner. As it stands, you only validate his point in regards to everything becoming an argument by responding so immaturely.

Totally! When I actually got Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse on the NES for my birthday, I had thought I got away with something. ![]()

This question doesn't make any sense. All I know is, if I had decided my birthday gift was going to be between two such high-priced items as a kid, it would only be met with laughter from my parents.
Not that I am still bitter about the whole Voltron incident....

I got a email saying my user ID was inappropriate so the ID was blocked for other users to see. This was 2 weeks after having it ID was STDVirus!
Really? Are you really that surprised that it was deleted? I mean, why did you pick it in the first place? Was it because it was controversial, or was it because of personal status?
I applaud Nintendo and its foresight to know that the parent of their ten year old shouldn't see a message left in the Super Mario Bros U progress Miiverse feature by a "STDVirus."

Don't get me wrong: I really enjoy my Wii U. That said, it does feel like Nintendo has no clue or is just not interested in having a foothold in any niche market during this generation of consoles. The less they do now to gather consumer interest, the more important (and difficult) it will be that MK8 and Smash Bros to get the Wii U out of this downward spiral in regards to market share.

A friend pointed out to me the non spinning of disc update as well. That is a great adjustment. As a Wii owner who had to get his disc drive assembly replaced because it was burned out by Treyarch's Black Ops port (known issue), I am grateful of the longevity consideration.

While I personally enjoy the Wii U (off and online), the writing is pretty clearly on the wall when it comes the future of third party development. The future releases of MK8 or the next Smash Bros may help, but it will most likely be a case of too little, too late.

Mario Kart 8 is at the very top of that list for me. Sure, I think I will get some of the other titles, but, really, it is all about my favorite kart driving franchise. The only complaint I have about the information that Nintendo has shown thus far is the release date. It is a real shame that not more of their heavy hitters are going to be here for the 2013 Christmas season when the console is already struggling so badly.

That's great! I was initially a bit disappointed to hear that the console remake was not a Wii U exclusive, so the Miiverse features are enough to convince me that my pre-order is worth keeping.

It severally depends on whether or not players will continue to have the option to use the Wiimote+nunchuck control setting to play Ghosts online. If they limit it to "driving tank" controls, it will lose the appeal of playing it on the Wii U system for me, personally.

Hello, current and potential Gunslingers!
I have some exciting news to share on our front. It is apparent that players can stream live footage of themselves gaming, and so we have created a new feature on the Gunslinger Gaming site to accommodate that need!
Gunslinger Gaming now has a Live Feed site page!

Now, on the top navigational bar of all GS site pages (including the forum), you will see a link called "Live Feed." That will bring you to our new page! If you wish to try out what I am talking about directly from this post, here is the link in question: http://www.gunslinge...html/twitch.php
You can even scroll through icons of all the participating members to see who is or is not currently broadcasting before selecting anyone from the drop-down menu. You can refresh the icons to see if anyone has just logged in without disrupting the current stream you are watching or the chat window!

This February's Nintendo Direct was a pretty exciting one! There was new updates on Smash Bros Wii U, Mario Kart 8, NES Remix II, Gameboy Advance selections on the Wii U's Virtual Console, and several 3DS-related game announcements.
So excited were we, the Shellslingers, about the news, we even dedicated an entire one-hour podcast to discussing our reaction to the Nintendo Direct! The podcast featured fellow adult Wii U gamers, GS*Merky Water, GS*MisterYoda, GS*Winged_Human, GS*Cope, and GS*McMurphy.
Here is a Youtube excerpt from the podcast featuring Mario Kart 8 discussion:
You can listen or download to the entire podcast via iTunes, our podcast's RSS feed, Podomatic, or directly from our clan's site!

We welcome you to join in on the premiere event here at Gunslingers entitled Frosty Pints!
Crack open your favorite brew, stop by the GS Chats and connect with fellow members for some drunken gaming fun. Going strong since 2008, Frosty Pints is a particularly great time for new members to meet other Gunslingers and to swap game contacts.
Frosty Pints takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings, which actually means all day Friday and Saturday due to having members from time zones across the globe. (Quite the bender, huh!?) The busiest times tend to be from 3:00pm PST and on.

hi, fancying joining your mh3u clan if you'll have me. just turned 31 and after relaxed gaming online
We would love to have you! I will send you the necessary clan information in private message. ![]()
As we do some last minute laundry before the work week starts on Monday, here are some exciting updates taking place within the Gunslingers:
The Gunslingers is OVER 6,000 Members Strong! An incredible milestone happened this week. Within a few months shy over our six year anniversary as a gaming group, the Gunslingers gained our 6,000th member. We have had over two thousand fellow parent and adult gamers join our posse since this time last year. I sincerely thank everyone for their continued support in making us the #1 home for gamers looking for a casual gaming experience!
Google Documents Now Supported in GS Forums! We have many members interested in putting together events and features for their fellow gamers. To encourage said creativity, we have installed the ability for any registered member to embed Google documents they have made in forum posts by merely using "[googledoc]" tags. Enjoy!
Two New Games Added to GS Arcade! One of the perks of being a Gunslinger member is getting access to our retro-style custom arcade in which we routinely install new titles. Of recent, we have added "De-Animator," a title based on Lovecraft's work, and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," which is based on the television game show of the same name. Can you earn the highscore? Is that your final answer?
The GS Voice Chat Channel is Live! In addition to your in-game chat options, the Gunslingers also have a Raidcall channel that all members are welcome to use. The channel is aptly entitled "Gunslinger Gaming." It's free. It's extremely light on resources. And it is very easy to set up!
Thank you for taking the time to read the most recent Gunslinger updates. If you are a fellow mature, casual gamer looking for a gaming experience away from the typical drama, you are welcome to join us in the fun!

Attention all older gamers! Some of you reading this message are just like me. Your youth consisted of blowing on bottom of cartidges, whether they were for the NES, SNES, or the N64. Your childhood was sans internet cheatsheets so you had to rely on the wit of your schoolmates and the information typed in game magazines on your local retail racks. You have indulged your Nintendo memories by picking up the Wii U.
Because of the above reasons, I invite you to join the Nintendo Wii U Gunslingers!
It is about time that us older gamers formed a clan. There are plenty of obligations and negativity wishing to take up your time in your career, in your personal life, and certainly during your online travels. It doesn't need to be that way. The Gunslingers clan, however existential as it may seem, seek to inject some positivity and even escapism in your daily obligations. Come. Kick your feet up. Decompress. Be merry! Everyone deserves that, and, regardless if you are new to online gaming or a veteran, you will be welcomed by the rest of us. Share in our cheer!
We currently have three Nintendo Wii U Clan fronts:

and

and

*The above list will be edited as updates occur.
Out of respect for the creators of TheWiiU.com site and their hard work in putting together a community for us, please keep general conversations locally. That said, you are invited to join up with the Nintendo Wii U Gunslingers for all your clan wants and needs! Reply to this thread or private message me if interested.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone! ![]()
In case you are checking your computer, laptop, iphone, tablet, or Star Trek communicator during a lull in the BBQ you are attending, the Gunslingers clan has several updates to share!
Gunslingers Six Year Anniversary Approaching! - Yes, six years. Wow! We are less than a week away before we start our celebration month of being a group for six years. What a trip! Look for more announcements at the beginning of June.
Faster Load Times! After the virtual version of having a wrestling match with GoDaddy, we have vastly improved the load times while exploring our clan's Forums and Blog. Amen to advancement!
GS*Twitch.tv! - As posted some time back, Gunslinger members who actively stream gaming broadcasts get showcased in a special section of the GS Forums. To help members out on getting more viewers and relating updates for their channels, each member gets their own forum board! GS*Stauchabilly is the most recent member to add himself to the showcase.
Expanded GS Forum Options! - We have installed two new nifty abilities that members can use while posting in our clan's forums. First, they can now make their messages scroll across the page much like a news ticker. That includes icons and images. Also, they can post a countdown clock within any of their posts or signatures by simply typing the the date and name of the event. Both new features are a click of a button away!
GS*Chat Now With News Feeds! - Our clan's text chat page now includes news feeds of your favorite game. Simply use the drop down menu, select your game, and view the official Twitter feeds for it as they are updated in real time. It should make for good conversation starters in chat!
Thank you for taking the time to read about some of our most recent news on the Gunslingers front. Again, I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend! All kickback-minded older gamers are welcome to join us in our fun.

I know what you are thinking. You read the phrase "...clan for adults" in the title of this topic, but what does that mean? How are you supposed to know if we are the gaming group for you?
Let's throw out some pop cultural references and see if they seem familiar.
If you not only remember the character Ernest P. Worrell, but you remember him in soda commercials...
If you, without further hints, knew what movie the line, "This is Walter! AHHHH!" is from...
If you thought, regardless of the children crying, White Lion probably didn't have the answer to world peace...
...you'll fit right in with the Gunslingers! ![]()
Seriously, though. The Gunslingers is the perfect oasis for the busy yet laid-back older gamer looking for a group that treats gaming like hanging out with a group of drinking buddies.

The Gunslinger 6 Year Anniversary Celebration continues!
Here are a few additional events that have been added to the GS fun:
This is my 1,000th post in the forum and I figured I would mark this milestone with a special post.
I signed up for the forum nearly 2 years ago when I was getting ready for BF3 and decided I needed to find some people to run with. I was hoping to find a small group of people willing to actually play as a team and use mics. But what I found was something so much better.
Since joining GS I have made friends with people from all over the world and in all walks of life. I play all kinds of games with GS and sometimes just shoot the breeze for a while in the chat room. With the new generation of consoles rapidly approaching from the horizon of the future things can only get better. Game devs know now that we enjoy the social side of games and seem to be looking at expanding that side of things.
So a big thank you to Murph and Toezer for making this place what it is. And thank you to the leaders for all the hard work they do behind the scenes. We might not see all the work you guys put in but we certainly see the benefits in how well GS runs. And I'm sure we all see a massive difference if you stopped.
LONG LIVE GS
