#210898 x86 = Nintendo's Doom?

Posted by McMurphy on 24 May 2013 - 11:26 AM in Wii U Hardware

Admittedly, there are a lot of market indicators that should make Nintendo worried, but, after hearing "Nintendo is dead" since the N64 days, they don't carry much weight for me.

Also, in regards to a refocus on Xbox One siren sounding, don't worry. If people thought that the consumer base response to the Wii U's initial presentation was bad, that is nothing compared to the ugly mess that is going on after Microsoft's conference this week.

#251380 Wind waker HD hard copy No instruction pamphlet or booklet?

Posted by McMurphy on 14 October 2013 - 02:52 PM in Wii U Games and Software Help

Yeah, the age of video game manuals is long gone. I have to admit I was the nerd who liked to, at the very least, thumb through the manual prior to popping in the game for the first time.

Does anyone else remember just how thick the instruction manual for the original Super Mario Bros (NES) was? They explained EVERYTHING in that thing...even as to why a player got points for smashing a brick.

And. in case you were wondering why, you got points for smashing bricks because doing so released the souls of Mushroom Kingdom citizens who were transformed into that state by King Bowser. ;)

#196539 wii-u virtual saves

Posted by McMurphy on 18 April 2013 - 10:48 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Not at the moment. The good news, however, is that you should after next week's firmware update. The "catch" will be that you will need to pay a buck to convert the version you have on the Wii's Virtual Console to operate like the Wii U version.

Since you already purchased the Wii U version for 30 cents, it may just be worth building up new save files. Put it this way: Is your old saves for Kirby's Adventure worth a dollar?

#209264 Wii U Update 3.0.1 available now

Thanks for the notice. Updating now. :)

#201198 Wii U or iPhone 5?

Posted by McMurphy on 28 April 2013 - 12:10 PM in Wii U Hardware

This question doesn't make any sense. All I know is, if I had decided my birthday gift was going to be between two such high-priced items as a kid, it would only be met with laughter from my parents.

Not that I am still bitter about the whole Voltron incident....

#201236 Wii U or iPhone 5?

Posted by McMurphy on 28 April 2013 - 01:36 PM in Wii U Hardware

this..0.0

I was thrilled when i got a game for my birthday!

Totally! When I actually got Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse on the NES for my birthday, I had thought I got away with something. :D

#269998 Wii U adult gamers

Posted by McMurphy on 01 February 2014 - 11:37 PM in Competitions & Matchmaking

Any fellow adult Nintendo gamer can send me an invite. My NNID is McMurphy.

If possible, just add a "from wiiu.com" note to it so I know to accept the invite. :D

#224078 Who Tried Out the Best Buy Demos?

Posted by McMurphy on 19 June 2013 - 11:04 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Nintendo made a pretty big deal about having demos of upcoming games at specified Best Buy locations during the week of E3. Who here had a chance to actually try out any of those demos, first hand?

Personally, I was planning to, but I was out of town (and off the continent for that matter) during the week of E3, so I missed my opportunity. I am particularly interested in hearing thoughts about Mario Kart 8 from the folks that got to give it a test drive.

#247348 Who here has photo ID on you?

Posted by McMurphy on 21 September 2013 - 09:07 AM in The Café

I always have photo ID on me. Really, everyone should.

But that is besides the point. If you are going to pick up a rated Mature title on its launch date, a person has got to be pretty witless to not expect to be carded. The fines for a retailer getting caught not carding can be pretty steep, depending on the location. Claiming that a customer had a pre-ordered receipt will not get retailers out of the fines, by the way, so it obviously won't be enough for the customer, either.

Just to clarify, a student ID would not be enough to pick up a Mature rated title since many colleges also run accredited classes for high school students who are college bound. A government-issued photo identification card is necessary.

That is not to say that I agree with that manager's actions. She crossed a line and needlessly so considering the bonehead customer was already walking out of the store.

Sidenote: The world is quite small, indeed. I used to work with the (area) manager featured in the video. All I will say in public is that such behavior is not an isolated occurrence. It was only a matter of time such antics was going to catch up to her.

#254661 What music are you listening to at the moment?

Posted by McMurphy on 05 November 2013 - 01:03 PM in The Café

I have been immensely enjoying Pearl Jam's new album Lightning Bolt. The singles from the album are great, but personal favorite track is "Pendulum".

#243611 What have people been spending their Nintendo Club Stars on?

I believe the last time I redeemed my Club coins was for a digital download copy of Star Fox 64.

#200155 What Games Will You Buy Off the Wii U Virtual Console?

Posted by McMurphy on 25 April 2013 - 09:47 PM in Wii U Hardware

Buy? I'm re downloading them all, I bought ALOT of VC games on my Wii, Its like I'm playing the Ultimate console that I can play modern games and my childhood games.

I am in the same proverbial boat. I have many digital purchases sitting on the Wii console and on a SD card that I would love to have gamepad and Miiverse features.

#212784 Virus infected URL detected on the forums

Posted by McMurphy on 29 May 2013 - 12:20 PM in Site News and Feedback

Nothing on my end. Keep in mind that if your computer is infected locally, it often manifests itself online by displaying pop-ups to you, particular on sites you most often visit.

#200149 Virtual Console Question

Posted by McMurphy on 25 April 2013 - 09:33 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The virtual console additions were not part of today's system updates. The Virtual Console portion will go live tomorrow.

Check the 18:50 minute mark of 4/17/13's video edition of Nintendo Direct for reference.

#200873 Video game I'm making, needs funding.

Wow, I wish you the very best in your project!

Which programming languages are you fluent in?

#230241 Ubisoft – Zombie U “wasn’t even close to being profitable”

Posted by McMurphy on 09 July 2013 - 02:09 PM in Wii U Games and Software

While I personally enjoy the Wii U (off and online), the writing is pretty clearly on the wall when it comes the future of third party development. The future releases of MK8 or the next Smash Bros may help, but it will most likely be a case of too little, too late.

#275897 Transformers Age of Extinction Teaser Trailer

There is a pretty cool Easter Egg in the embedded trailer. Dial the phone number on the Chicago billboard.;)

#197007 Top 10 3rd Party Characters I Would Like to See in Smash Brothers

Posted by McMurphy on 19 April 2013 - 02:40 PM in The Museum

I would have to vote for a Dragon Quest character considering the franchise has been exclusively Nintendo releases for a generation at this point.

#274578 System Update

Thanks for the post. I saw the update this morning, and I was curious what it was about. This was the first site I checked to find out. ;)

#235572 simple but addictive game idea for miiverse.

Posted by McMurphy on 28 July 2013 - 11:30 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Actually, the following idea may be worth trying:

TheWiiU.com picks a theme, say, "draw Luigi in a hero pose" or something to that effect. Create a post on Miiverse that members would supply their submissions to in replies (the NNI would need to be provided so people know who to follow to more readily find said post). After a certain number or a certain period of time had lapsed, create a poll on these forums where members could vote on the submissions. Being that Miiverse has a web version now, pictures on Miiverse have their own URL so each drawing can be displayed in the voting topic using the traditional bbcode tags.

Not only is it a fun interaction between these boards and Miiverse, but it could drum up more exposure for the site.

Oh, look, it's the guy who killed THQ!

Exactly. I would say that his crystal ball has more than a few cracks in it.

#196999 routerbad, 3Dude help the SEGA forums please!

Posted by McMurphy on 19 April 2013 - 02:34 PM in General Gaming

There's alot of doubtful Nintendo fans who are being constantly tormented by PS360 players on the Official SEGA forums who need help from tech wise Nintendo fans like, routerbad 3Dude and Plutonas to school the haters and renew hope in the Wii U there, Please help them guys!

I don't think providing fodder or conducting response trolling is the solution. If the official SEGA forums, a community set up to augment sales, is unwilling or unable to moderate their boards properly, shame on them.

#195544 Resident Evil Revelations Miiverse Features

Posted by McMurphy on 16 April 2013 - 02:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

That's great! I was initially a bit disappointed to hear that the console remake was not a Wii U exclusive, so the Miiverse features are enough to convince me that my pre-order is worth keeping.
