I'm Lindsey from east coast Canada. I'm 28 as of today actually! I have been so excited for the release of Nintendo's new console. I currently have a basic white version wrapped under my Christmas tree. It's awful having to wait almost another month. Wah! Looking forward to reading up on these forums & posting.

White basic one. I figure for $299 I could get a game I really wanted with the difference. If I want Nintendoland down the road, I'm sure I can find it cheaper. I don't need the cradle really & I already have a external hard drive.

I've been following numerous sites/tweets about how the Wii U freezes at times & seems to be a common problem. This kinda makes me nervous. Is this as big of a problem as I read it to be? Is this hardware related or something that can be fixed with a future update?

So.. little follow up. As I said, I had the basic version all wrapped under my tree.. well tonight, while in Walmart, I laid my eyes on a lonely deluxe version of the Wii U. I stood there for a few minutes & thought hard about it.. ended up getting the boyfriend to go home, unwrap the Wii U I had (white basic edition) & return it. So now I have the deluxe edition wrapped under my tree. WAH, I want to open it now. SUCH A TEASE!

So, I did a search & couldn't really find anything..
For the eShop, is the only way you can purchase stuff now with a credit card? They don't use the point system & I've noticed I don't see $$$ amount cards around in stores..

Keep us updated what's in the update. Not opening my Wii U til Christmas, so I'm curious what's in this update. Really hoping it will fix some OS issues I've been hearing about.

So what the hell was the point of this update if its still slow hopefully it fixed peoples freezing issues at least
I dunno about other people, but I could handle a little longer load times, but freezing is a must fix.

I think it's the same pricing, but the incentive I believe would be that you essentially get $5 eShop credit back for a $59.99 game. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They should have an update merging Wii virtual console games to the Wii u's.
I sure hope so. I love the old school games, but would much rather they have gamepad support than having to go through Wii mode.

So, I opened my Wii U tonight. (Was only supposed to get it for Christmas, LOL!) I've tried a couple times to update.. it will download for 10 minutes.. then I get an error code about the server or something. Ugh!

Ugh, I sure hope it's not something router related or whatever. We live in a basement apartment, in a house, where our internet is included in our rent. Which means we don't have access to that stuff. Tried a connection test where I had been sitting, failed. Tried it in another area & it passed. Now trying the update again. It started where it left off fortunately.

Finally got it download. After many error codes. Still only took about 50 minutes to download. Not sure how bad that is? Installing now.. 72% done..
Finally all set up. NNID & all. I'm chalking it up to bad wifi strength. May have to ask the people upstairs where they have their router & move the system. We shall see. Never really had a problem before with my other systems or computer.
