#236360 According to GameInformer, Batman AO for Wii U will not have Online Multplayer

Posted by Phanto on 01 August 2013 - 08:13 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Ok, so 3rd party developers are idiots. I think we've known that for a while... but you know what? I'm not going to let this deter from buying the Wii U version. Why? Because, dang it, I want this title to succeed on the Wii U!! Frick. Seriously, if none of these freakin' 3rd party titles do well then 3rd party devs will give up.

I'm not letting that happen. Darn it.

...yes I am angry. Why devs gotta be dumb?

#234985 Earthbound Help?

Posted by Phanto on 26 July 2013 - 07:39 AM in Wii U Games and Software Help

Um... I don't really need help. I'm getting along just fine in the game, but I have a question about the guide and it being entirely contradictory to the game in some areas. For example, the guide says that when I reach Titanic Ant (before getting to Giant Step) then I should know PSI Drill. What? I know no such PSI, and I am now level 23... so... what the heck is the guide talking about? Does it mean PSI Toys?

Why they gotta tell me I'll have things that don't exist?

#233183 OUYA first month sales

Posted by Phanto on 19 July 2013 - 09:09 AM in General Gaming

I plan to buy one, but I don't have the cash right now. I definitely want to support it. I'm hoping that sales take off in a few months, or I'll be sad.

#232879 Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-Bit Land – first screenshots

Posted by Phanto on 18 July 2013 - 12:47 PM in General Gaming

Who drew the graphics for this game? A potato?

I hate how so many parts of the level don't have any texture and are left to being flat one colour panels.

Oh, yeah. Because the art looks so much better than Super Mario Bros. on the NES. You do know this is supposed to emulate 8-bit graphics, right? Read the title of the game again.

#232802 Earthbound for Wii U releasing today

Posted by Phanto on 18 July 2013 - 09:33 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Regardless of how much the cartridges go for second hand its still too much for a digital download of such an old game.

Exactly! Thanks, but no thanks Nintendo. Sorry you're being greedy trolls.

#232777 Earthbound for Wii U releasing today

Posted by Phanto on 18 July 2013 - 07:42 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Do you think money grows off of trees? I knew you fools would buy this no matter what the price.

I just said no sale! I'm not going to pay $10 for any VC game, I don't care what it is. I'll just get the game... elsewhere. For a lot less. A lot.

#232776 Pokemon Rumble U NA release date & details

Posted by Phanto on 18 July 2013 - 07:40 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm calling it now. I bet people will buy the figures, level up to crazy powerful stats and then sell them on eBay for mad moneys. Don't act like this won't be the case. You know it'll happen.

Why lvl it yourself when someone will do it for you?

#232772 Earthbound for Wii U releasing today

Posted by Phanto on 18 July 2013 - 07:36 AM in Wii U Games and Software

What. The. Freak. Ten dollars? Nope. No sale, Nintendo. You idiots be fools.

#231819 Why is NintendoLand panned as bad?

Posted by Phanto on 15 July 2013 - 12:23 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I don't like it because I don't like party games. I don't like anything that is a collection of minigames packaged into something and passed off as good. Nintendo really stepped in it when they thought that was a good idea.

Yes, I have played it. Couldn't stand it. Haven't played it again since... November? It's been a long time.

#231818 Club Nintendo rewards revealed.

I got the 3 poster set. Going to frame them and place them on my bedroom wall. :-)

#229926 Nintendo to announce secret “brand-new types of games” for Wii U soon

Posted by Phanto on 08 July 2013 - 11:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

A new Wii u sports would be cool

Where is the button to fire your post into the sun, so it can be burned with nuclear powered fire?

#229860 Miyamoto: We may explore the Galaxy series further

Posted by Phanto on 08 July 2013 - 07:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Nooo!! Nintendo, stop. Stop right there. Don't spend any more money on exploring the Galaxy series. TO be perfectly honest I'm no longer interested, and will most likely not purchase another Galaxy game. Go back to Super Mario 64. That needs a sequel.

#229856 Is Zombi U A Good Game?

Posted by Phanto on 08 July 2013 - 07:29 AM in Wii U Games and Software

ZombieU is a great game. The problem it has is that most people were expecting of Call of Duty Zombie game and that's not what survival horror is, so they were disappointed. Survival horror isn't about taking on hoards of undead with almost unlimited ammo or just gunning your way blindly through the streets and killing anything that moves. It's about strategy, supply conservation, and using your brain to overcome problems. In that respect Zombi U is an amazing title and I think anyone who doesn't agree simply doesn't understand the survival horror genre.

#228464 Nintendo of America responds to #NintendoRegionFree campaign for WiiU and 3DS.

Posted by Phanto on 03 July 2013 - 08:03 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm kind of on Nintendo's side with this one. I can't read Japanese anyway, so why would I want to play a game in Japanese?

...or French, or Italian, or any other language other than English. Can't read those languages.

#228318 Wii U Save Data Non-transferable, Why?

Posted by Phanto on 02 July 2013 - 02:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Frankly I'd just be happy if they implemented a share method, so I can put my game saves onto a usb stick then plug it into my friend's Wii U to continue where I left off.

Actually, it'd be awesome if they can somehow put a roaming profile onto the USB drive so I can somehow play my downloaded games and access my Miiverse account on my friend's Wii U.

Yes! This is exactly what we need.

#228023 Wii U Save Data Non-transferable, Why?

Posted by Phanto on 01 July 2013 - 03:14 PM in Wii U Games and Software

How is it overkill? It's really simple.

Overkill would be doing something aggressively like doing online checks every 24 hours.

This is passive, and will be broken if it hasn't been already so you can back up your files.

This is overkill in the sense that they are taking needless steps to hinder out experience. If there was an issue with the Wii then this would make sense. Since no hacker was able to do anything to decrypt Wii data I fail to see the reasoning behind crippling our experience as users. It's completely unwarranted.

#228011 Wii U Save Data Non-transferable, Why?

Posted by Phanto on 01 July 2013 - 02:43 PM in Wii U Games and Software

You can't see the files on the drive because they're using a proprietary file system format.

Most likely Fat32 with some weird crap to make it different.

It's to slow down hacks.

I know they're using a proprietary format.

If it's to slow down hacks then why wasn't this necessary on the Wii? No one hacked Virtual Console games. This is overkill.

#227991 Wii U Save Data Non-transferable, Why?

Posted by Phanto on 01 July 2013 - 01:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

...Unfortunately I cannot try to reformat my hard drive on my computer as it is not compatible with Windows 8.

This is where having a Linux system comes in handy. If you plug a Wii U formatted hard drive into a Linux computer it will recognize the drive and you can then format it to a Windows compatible format. So... maybe run Ubuntu Linux in a Virtual Machine on your Windows PC? That may work, but having never tried it I can't make any promises.

Also, you may want to try and format the drive using Disk Manager in Windows 8.

#227948 Wii U Save Data Non-transferable, Why?

Posted by Phanto on 01 July 2013 - 10:39 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Most Wii owners are familiar with the fact that save data from your games can be transferred to an SD Card, and then onto your computer. This allows you the freedom to backup the saves to your hard drive or in the cloud. I myself have all of my Wii saves backed up on the cloud.

This is not possible on the Wii U, as the file system used to format the external USB storage devices is not recognized my most common Operating Systems (I use Ubuntu Linux and while my computer does recognize the USB device, and I can access the device, I cannot actually see any of the files. However, this could be my own systems settings and perhaps another Ubuntu user has better luck viewing files?).

I am left wondering why this is so. No one was able to crack Nintendo's encryption on the Wii downloads, such as Virtual Console titles, so why the overkill in protecting the Wii U saves? Why cripple our ability to save and share save data? This hinders my ability to share my saved game with another gamer who may have trouble beating a level that I've beaten on my save.

I have attempted to come up with a reasonable answer, like preventing piracy or maybe region locking may have something to do with it, and so far nothing really makes sense. It would appear as the only reason Nintendo have opted to cripple our user experience is for the simple fact that they can. I don't want to accept this, so maybe someone out there has a reasonable answer? How does this improve out experience as gamers? I can't backup my files to the cloud. Therefore, if my Wii U breaks and my hard drive backup crashes, then I lose everything. No cloud backup leaves me with nothing... how is that a good thing?

#227930 Asynchronous Multiplayer Coming To Miiverse Soon

Posted by Phanto on 01 July 2013 - 08:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

This is really cool. It's basically an online version of what I used to do with Mario Kart 64. See, back in those days I didn't have anyone to compete against locally. Instead I would compete with Ghost data saved to a Memory Card, mailed back and forth between my cousin and I. Yes, postage was a little expensive and after a while it became the reason we eventually stopped doing this, but for a few months we had a great time competing with each other's ghost data.

So... now that I can do that without having to spend money on postage I'm all for this!

#227117 Famitsu Wii U Sales Declining this month

Posted by Phanto on 28 June 2013 - 07:58 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I do not have a link right at this moment, but if I can find the data I was looking at yesterday then I will edit this post and add it in.

Update: Found the links. Added them at the bottom of the post.

This data is really worrying me, but maybe it shouldn't? I've been trying to figure out what it means, but it could mean nothing at all. June, the month of E3, when Nintendo unveiled it's future "killer apps" saw a sales decline for Wii U units in Japan. Japan!! Of all places, Nintendo's homeland looks to be falling out of love with Nintendo.

Or... maybe I'm reading too much into it. What do you think? Do declining sales in Japan mean anything at all?

The Data:

http://www.animenews...nkings-june-3-9

http://www.animenews...ings-june-10-16

http://www.animenews...ings-june-17-23

As you can see, sales are decreasing and *not* increasing after E3.

#226329 Miiverse Updated: 200 characters in a post now allowed

Awesome. I can actually write out my entire thought on Miiverse now.

#225983 Unannounced project from Yoshiaki Koizumi (Mario)

Posted by Phanto on 25 June 2013 - 09:00 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Watch it be something like New Super Mario Galaxy.

Nooooo!! *shakes fist angrily at Nintendo* I will retaliate if this happens. Have no idea how, but there will be consequences.

#225982 Who would you want developing a potential Wii U Star Fox?

Posted by Phanto on 25 June 2013 - 08:58 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Nintendo does good work, I'd want them to do it. I don't like that they rely on other studios...
