Here is what im doing in a similar situation as yours. I'm running the hdmi to my computer monitor (24" samsung led) for video, Then i use an audio cable that has a male headphone connection into the gamepad's headphone jack, and on the other end of that audio cable is a red/white plug that is connected to one of my surround sound's inputs. Works great

frkin hell....just slayed 20 gobal in G rank but cant get that freakin Lantern+ only Beacons.....is there another quest i should look in to?

 

According to my Brady Strat guide, The G-rank Lantern+ is 40% chance, and that beacon is 60%. 20 kills and no drop yet on a 40% chance seems like your just getting bad luck

I can't check my copy of the strategy guide right now, but wouldn't high rank gobul be the best chance of getting Lantern+?  Its primarily a high rank item I believe, and I thought it had a much higher drop rate at high rank.  I'll check when I get a chance if no one finds out.

 

Sounds like some of you have hit the grinding and farming phase.  This is the hardest part to like about the game since you do the same quest so many times and don't get that one thing you want.  Some terminology to know for those who are new:

Farming-fighting a monster over and over for a part

Desire Sensor- The game seems to know what you want.  The more you want something, the less likely the game will give it to you.  For example, I don't need rathian mantles, but I've gotten 6 in the 15 rathians I've fought at G rank.  Conversely, I've fought 40 high rank brachydios and only gotten 3 dios gems, and I want those badly.

This is correct, High rank Lantern+ chance is 60% and regular Lantern is 40%

Ugh, Im stuck on Agnaktor (high 8*), I know his moves and all that mess, tried a LS, GS, GL, and he is just steamrolling me... embarrassing really....

Azure Edge is right, as a GS user, the real damage is in the charged hits. Everyone plays differently but when im in the middle of a fight the only time my GS is unsheathed is when i go for a charged attack, then i put it away, run into position and unsheath for a 2-3 charge attack. Learn the monsters movements/attacks and dont get greedy (meaning dont always wait for a 3 charge).

I went a similar route using G Jaggi into high rank, then wound up switching from GS to GL, which got me into Barroth gear, did that for a long time, recently went and had enough for Volvi set so went back to GS, then tonight just got full Rath Soul gear after 2 nights of farming those ruby's >:| turns out capping azure rath got me them quicker than trying to rely on tail cuts which never got me any. Happy though with new armor and dios blade for now, time to press forward again and chill on farming.

I've been debating on this game, would you guys reccomend that it is THAT good?

I work 50-60 hours a week, and right now i have over 130 hours logged so far.... Some of these other guys in Grank would probably laugh at my 130 hours, yes its that good and will equally P!$$ you off at the same time. Also the game is deep, I mean as deep as your MeMa's you know what....

Man im so far behind you guys lol, i just crafted my Dios Blade yesterday and thought i was super stoked about that >< haha

       About 30 hours in now, would be more but that whole working 10-11 hour days thing gets in the way. Only fight i completely loathe at this point is Gobul, god that was a pain but that was when i was still using greatsword, since i have been on the gunlance im blowing monsters to pieces. Its just harder for me to get the cuts with gunlance so may wind up using greatsword when i need to farm a monster part. Currently in full Barroth gear and about to craft the matching barroth gunlance  after i double check the others stats. Love this game ><

I just ordered this game, you might see some posts from me around the forum saying that after I had played the demo I didn't like it and that it's an aquired taste, well I honestly think I just aquired that taste lol, I've been playing the demo over and over and I've seen a couple of reviews and tons of gameplay videos and this game not only looks and feels FUN IT'S HUGE!!!!! I really am sure I will get my moneys worth and I was wrong itis my type of game, I should be getting it about Monday or Tuesday so I'll see you online and on MiiVerse!

Im glad to hear this, Monster Hunter cannot be appreciated until one dives in and experiences the depth and hours that can be had in this game. Saddens me so many people are getting so much farther ahead of me already bc i work so many hours in a week haha. Just now getting my Lagi gear at about 35 hours in, lol. I also just hit a minor speed bumb at Duramboros last night, been trucking through monsters till i got to him and maybe im just being sloppy or was tired but he wasnt letting me get the kill yet lol smdh..

What weapon is everyone rollin with? I started greatsword up into 4 star quests, but i just got my gunlance skills in check and causing some havok with that now now

Just letting people know that I created a help thread in the help section.  Initial post contains info on basic mechanics that I've seen far too many people make mistakes about.  There is one section that rookies and vets alike should read.  Its how the charm system works this time around.  Otherwise, if you have the strategy guide, you probably won't need it.  Though I would appreciate those with the strategy guide helping out.

So, how is everyone's hunting coming along? Only about 12-14 hours in due to work, going to finish up the 3 star quests soon, backtracking for a King's Frill drop off G.Jaggi since apparently i have crap luck with a 65% drop rate, want my armor to match

Will it work?

You can use that to hook the Wii U to the monitor. As someone mentioned the other day but i dont see their post now, the graphics card ports are for Video "out". DVI, HDMI, Dual DVI's S-Video, they are all outputs on most graphics cards and wont work the way you are asking. Go with the link you provided, i did that for a while for my pc monitor when i wanted to play my Wii U in solitude and worked perfectly fine

*Side note, when you convert HDMI to DVI your going to lose the sound as DVI carries the video signal only. There-for you will have to use the headphone jack on the gamepad to some headphones or to some external speaks to get all the sound.

I've played this on Vita and PC, trust me when i say its a gorgeous game and get very intense and fun. Will be buying this again for Wii U.

Why? Why would you needlessly resurrect a topic that is over a year old?

This seems to be happening a lot today im noticing....

Nintendo already had the most powerfull console once (N64) and one of the second most powerfull console too (GC). Did it help Nintendo? No.

The market always said that it doesn`t  care about graphics or processing power.

 

People have always criticized Nintendo: too kiddie; underpowered, etc. It`s always something.

3rd parties like EA have since a lot of time a go, unsupported Nintendo consoles. Nothing new. It`s about the userbase: if they buy all kinds of games, companies will support them.

If all kinds of games are not available, the userbase moves on to console that has said games....

i dont care, they must of had a clue at what sony and microsoft were making, and they no to make things easier for developers to produce big cross platform games to make a console on a par with whats coming out, and ive stated this a million times THEY PROMISED THEY WOULD WIN BACK GAMERS BY WORKING WITH DEVELOPERS TO GET BIG TITLES RELEASED ON NINTENDOS NEW PLATFORM!

You can not possibly be serious..... Wii U isnt getting a fraction of 3rd parties that ps4/nextbox will, heck, its barelly getting anything new that ps360 is getting...... To the OP, Nintendo is a first party console, if you enjoy those games, get them, if you enjoy 3rd party more, wait....

All i know is that named developers from CryTek said themselves that they ran CryEngine3 on the Wii U and it ran "beautifully" and the system could handle any current engines just fine. They also stated it could handle Crysis 3 fine but didnt happen bc at the time wasnt financially in their best interest.
Crytek also said from what they have learned so far is the Wii U is at the very least as powerfull as the xbox 360. Personal opinion, but If i was to trust a developer then that is one i would have faith in as they aim to push EVERY platform.
Also just remembered CryTek said there is currently a game in development using CryEngine3 for the Wii U and it looks great they claim, note its not being made by CryTek as they said they were too involved in Crysis 3 development at the time.
