Did you put your PS Vita in the Flour Tin again?

You sure that is flour?

#148927 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by PedanticGamer on 17 December 2012 - 01:03 PM in Wii U Hardware

why? are you telling me you brought this machine as a hardcore gamer machine? if yes, then you clearly dont know Nintendo.. and even if its CPU is a tad weak.. even tho not by much! but who cares?

the GPU smashes the ever living crap out of the current gen machines and the Ram is double that of the xbox 360 and quadruple that of the PS3 effective RAM.
and on top of all that it is!! new and it IS! different! that's the 2 main reasons i got mine.. and it will do for a year or 2 until the heavyweights from Sony and or M$ are released.. its only 299 bucks, its easily worth it and will hold its own at least until the true next gen arrives!

The cpu a tad weak? Incorrect, it is extremely weak.

However if this is an issue for anyone I think they didn't do there homework before making a purchase.

Its probably true. They simply transferred the bottom 3ds screen to the gamepad. It is, after all, a 3ds game.

Wow there laziness has made this a must not buy for me. :(

They also added Wi-fi but... Yeah for the most part you're right.

Then I am worried, I do enjoymonster hunter but such cheap ports to pc are always underwhelming and nearly always have other problems. This however is on a console which of course is a closed platform so you can't even fix it yourself id there is a problem. Much thinking I have to do.

^ If all they have done is port it across from the 3ds and up the resolution, that is lazy and for me not worth purchasing at full price. I hope I am wrong.

Im pretty sure this has been an always not buy for you, and the fact that using the gamepad for 3ds mode had nothing to do with it.

You are of course free to think however you wish. I however was very interested at first but with every new piece of information I have seen I have lost more and more interest. I like Monster Hunter but don't want to accept a second rate version of what it easily could be (at least not at full price).

Yes, i do. Your complaint makes no sense if you actually play or 'like' monster hunter. For you to feel that way, youd have to think the entire FRANCHISE was lazy. because 99% of the games are 'worse' than the 'lazy ports' of monster hunter utimate by your definition.

My expectations for this release does not = my expectations for all the prior games. I'm not going to bother responding to any more of your nonsense regarding this, it's a waste of time.

Your reasoning makes little sense. I don't care how tired you and every other Monster Hunter fanboy (that's right, i said it, fanboy) is of hearing the same complaints on a thread. If it applies to the game, I'm going to talk about it. That being said, going back to my original point, there is NO reason why there shouldn't be a tutorial.

If anyone has a problem with me speaking my mind, then that's your problem, not mine. It's not like I'm speaking blasphemy.

Remember I was clearly not a fan because I wasn't happy with a cheaply done port.

Hmm, I am interested in this game, but the graphics look extremely dated. This may seem like an odd complaint and many are sure to think/respond that it is the gameplay that matters which is true. But when so little effort is put into one area of the game I have to start wondering about the other areas.

It has nothing to do with opinions, it has to do with common sense and pattern recognition.

There has NEVER been a monster hunter that has met what you expected out of this game.

and... I am allowed to increase my expectations, this is bieng released on the wiiU and falls below in several areas what I would expect.

People who like the series, DONT HAVE THOSE EXPECTATIONS, those have those expectations, dont stick with the series.

Once again I like the series (like many) and have the expectations your saying I can't have. I'm not the only one who is annoyed by an obvious cheap port with little effort present (whether I am in the minority is irrelevant, there are others). Ignoring anyone who fells displeased with some of what they have seen and writing them of clearly as not fans means of course in your eyes now fan is disappointed (as anyone who is is by your definition not a fan).

You might like screens of monster hunter, you might think you like the concept of monster hunter, or the idea of monster hunter. But its just very very apparant you dont like monster hunter from actually PLAYING monster hunter. Which is why you think it should be something its simply not.

As above, I am a fan have played several of the games and fell let down by what we have been shown. That is fact and nothing you can say can change that.

I simply think the port should be done properly, the fact that it is a lazy port is what I am not happy about. I am not disappointed gameplay wise with what we have seen. Stop assuming you know what other people do and do not like. As you simply do not.

How can you claim like monster hunyer when you very clearly dont know anything about it?

Monster hunter ultimate 3g ultimate om wii u is the top monster hunter experience available anywhere. Its the best graphics of any monster hunter game, has the most content of any monster hunter game, and is online.

There is no monster hunter out anywhere, or coming out in the future that can top that. (next game is mh4 on 3ds).

The ps3 game is an untouched upressed port of the psp game, which is a GRAPHICALLY DOWNGRADED version of the WII GAME MH tri with all the water areas (about half the game, as its water themed) cut out, and other content pit in to compensate.

The pc game monster hunter frontier STILL USES THE PS2 ERA GRAPHICS ENGINE AND ASSETS.

Anyone who actually knows ANYTHING aboit monster hunter knows capcom keeps production values at the lowest possible denominator possible, to ensure higher levels of content, to avoid A mistake called the 'tri syndrome', so named by angry fans after the original wii game mhtri, which had the highest production values of any monster hunter game ever, but a fraction of the content of other mainline titles.

Main platforms chronologically: Ps2 as opposed to more powerful gc and xbox, then switched to psp, as opposed to more powerful ps2, gc, and xbox, then switched to wii instead of 360/ps3, and then, the highest production value monster hunter ever made, is on the series new platform, 3ds.

The reason i cant believe you is because NO ONE who is familiar with monster hunter has your expectations, because as far as your ridiculous expectations go, the entire FRANCHISE is second rate....

Yet you claim you like monster hunter and would have gotten this one, the best looking monster hunter ever made, with the largest amount of content, with online added, if ONLY it wasnt second rate to nothing in existing or any practically possible monster hunter existance.

Yes I do like Monster Hunter. Shock horror that someone doesn't agree with you, they must really have ulterior motives and really must not like the seires (rolls eyes). Or maybe I was hoping for more then we are getting in some departments and fell let down.

[edit: maybe the demo will change my mind, we shall see].

Scarily I don't think this was a bug and went on for around 10 minutes as you painfully had to walk crouched and then stop walking whenever one of these came near.

This along with the blops 2 dlc fiasco is seriously putting me off my wii u long term. This is depressing for a machine I laid out close to 400 notes for recently.Gearbox praised and praised the wii u then farm out the port?!!!Mixed signals wouldnt even be in it.

Not necessarily, just like hiring another company to port to pc is often the optimal way to handle things. The lack of info however is disturbing and making me glad I opted to get this on pc (also as I was able to get it for $20). :D

That is the amazing part......it was done with next to no advertising. Of course I think that the 360 would have slaughtered the Wii U's numbers if they would have had the luxury of matching supply with demand. They still cannot rest on their laurels because I really want to be able to purchase most of my third party stuff on the WiiU, and hold out on yet another new console purchase for as long as I can.

As for the PC comment. I had no idea that someone had developed a tablet controller for PC gaming :D

The game was not designed around the tablet though. My point was though was referring to how much better fps games play with a mouse and keyboard. No need for autaim, aim assist, smoothing etc. FPS simply play better on a mouse and keyboard just like games like Dark Souls play better with a controller.

Also give it a year and I wouldn't be shocked if someone had the wiiU playable on pc.

I'm sure it will be the best version, but I want the commercials for launch to be able to say "now available on WiiU, PS3, and 360." Nintendo needs to be able to show the public that the WiiU exists because a lot of people have no idea what it even is.

Yep it sold quicker then the 360 and ps3 at launch so Nintendo clearly should be worried about that. :P

I seriously doubt the best version of this game will be on the wiiU. I may be wrong but I would say as is the case with nearly every fps it will be best played on pc.

Sorry if this has been said, but i was gonna put up with the lame effort thats been reported on this game cos i love Aliens But i heard that for absolutly no reason, theres a stage or stages where your fighting actual men that all look the same instead of aliens !!! I mean WTF check out the cvg review its the biggest gaming mistake since style boutique !

like a mug ill still buy it though, but please the wii u versions not out yet, just fix it and make a shetty thing good !

That would require them to scrap the game and start over.

Maybe the PC port to WiiU is left to the other dev because its a task thats pretty straightforward. While the ps3 and 360 need heavy encoding and rescripting. So this could be good news too.

Also they may be using a company that has more knowledge with the wiiU and more time/emoployees they can dedicate to the port. Often ports are the best version even when handled this way (Transformers Fall of Cybertron comes straight to mind).

Letho from the Witcher 2. At first seems generic but as you learn more about him throughout the game that makes a dramatic turn for the better. One of the most complex 'villains' in any medium.

Hahahaha!!!! Remember that WiiU fans were outraged that another studio was working on aliens for the wiiU port. Guess what, we might just be lucky with that one:
http://www.eurogamer...-studios-report

Is this news? Anyone who had been following the development new it was mainly being developed by Timegate. Timegate themselves can create quality games (section 8 prejudice was fantastic), sadly they do not have the personnel for a AAA title and whilst I had hoped there continued expansion would be enough, they where clearly put in charge of a project they where not large enough to handle. Further evidence is that the game was delayed a year (a period in which they seemingly had a second dev come in and do work on the multiplayer and added characters from the film [something that didn't help the game at all]). Oddly enough despite all it's issues I think Iw ould really like the game had they made it more open like Section 8 prejudice and gave you reason to explore the world.

Personally I hope Timegate go back and do a third Section 8, personally I think a FTP model would work well.

Just as a question to those who thought Gearbox did the development (as apposed to hiring someone to do it for them), how do you think a 140 employee company could manage to do a game like Borderlands 2 and a follow up with another meant to be AAA release mere months later?

I just read the IGN review and I'm not buying their horrible review. It would seem that the reviewers big complaint was the enemy A.I. was terrible, I can see that being a problem but the rest of it just seems like he was being too picky.

http://www.ign.com/a...s-360ps3-review

Well I have had an Alien run up to me then mere moments before hitting me turn away and run and face a wall. The game starts of terribly and has improved a little bit. But the AI is stupid, the graphics are dated, the stories only plus so far is the homages it provides, the gameplay is average at best, the content is limited (almost finished the campaign in 3 to 4 hours) and the level design, by god is it awefull at times. The few things it does well are few in numbers.

#147427 Which game are you playing right now ?

Mass Effect (PC) [Replay]
Mass Effect 2 (PC) [Replay] COLOURS OF THE ENDINGS!
Mass Effect 3 (PC) [Replay]

Yea, that's all I'm playing for the next month. 'Marathoning'.

(Also, those who are hating on the ending obviously didn't understand it; it is a VERY cleaver ending. No doubt BioWare hasn't finished it yet and DLC is incoming at any moment, just to make the franchise last a little longer.)

Note its not that we didn't understand it, it is that it was full of plot holes and circular logic. It was improved the the extended ending (which also changed the ending), but it still is far from what they had been promising for many years.
