#145124 ZombiU control scheme

Posted by PedanticGamer on 07 December 2012 - 02:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The OP plays Black Ops 2 based on his sig with only one hand. Mind blown. How on earth do you do that?

with my thigh haha. i used to play gears of war semi-competively at like local tournaments and stuff

That is rather amazing. As for zombiU I don't think you will be able to play it as there is much more to it then aiming and shooting (it is more about picking your fights and inventory management which I don't think would be fun to do with one hand as the game doesn't pause when you go into your inventory).

Well as long as you can still eat and drink well etc then get it, otherwise just wait another week.

#144873 ZombieU or Black Ops 2?

Posted by PedanticGamer on 07 December 2012 - 12:19 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Cheers xavi was a bit worried the campaign was as short as the first?

The Black Ops 2 campaign is shorter then the Black Ops 1 campaign. There however are multiple endings and thus arguably more replay value (I don't think there is though as a result of how it is handled).

If you want a tense single player experience ZombiU is the better choice from what I have played. If you want multiplayer/coop action that is fast paced then Black Ops 2 obviously wins, although it isn't for everyone.

I will also add ZombiU apparently only lasts around 10 hours and then there are different difficulty modes and a local multiplayer mode and thus could be seen to lack content. Black Ops 2 has a short campaign, but will no doubt have you spending more time with it in the mp and coop modes. Also, I know you didn't ask, but from what I have played of AC3 on pc, it is well worth checking out.

edit: I know the OP already had decided but thought I would leave my thoughts for other people who may be in a similar position. :)

#147979 Zombie U Two, What would you add/change to the Game ?

Posted by PedanticGamer on 14 December 2012 - 07:10 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think the next one would benefit from a metroid like design. Mostly open, but you still need to get certain things to progress, the game just doesn't force you on them. It would've been pretty cool if you had no idea where you needed to go. I mean, isn't that what survival is all about?

I would say that is what discovery is all about. Survival is about not dying. I personally would prefer having multiple ways of progressing through the game.

Less predictable enemy placement (is often the same on future playthroughs), more gameplay variety, more melee weapons (and possible weapon degradation , the ability to play as a a zombie on another person game online, online multiplayer modes (including surviving against waves of enemies), better graphics and an open world would be awesome to.

#146690 Zombie u question

Posted by PedanticGamer on 11 December 2012 - 02:24 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I have that as well, I believe it is a reward from completing the mission. Personally I like it as it keeps everything tense, but I can see how it could annoy some.

My issue is it often isn't picking up things that I can see to be moving, which is a bug that has caused me to die many times.

#145123 Zombi U Reviews

Posted by PedanticGamer on 07 December 2012 - 02:24 PM in Wii U Game Reviews

Op, you seriously gave this game a 9.5/10 for graphics? I now such numbers are arbitrary in nature, but this game has terrible textures and character models are well below par. In fact it falls behind ps3 launch games like Resistance in many areas from a visual perspective. Great game so far, but disappointing visuals.

Open World with a graphics style similar to that shown in the e3 demo, and voice acting (although not for link, much like the protagonist in Dragon Age is still silent).

#145111 Your favorite video game character?

Letho from the Witcher 2. At first seems generic but as you learn more about him throughout the game that makes a dramatic turn for the better. One of the most complex 'villains' in any medium.

#181148 Xbox 720 not strictly about games?

Posted by PedanticGamer on 10 March 2013 - 02:02 AM in General Gaming

Its on ign... Take it with a grain of salt.

I think you mean at least a mountain of salt.   :P With that being said I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft went in such a direction.

I call bollocks on that report. Billion lost, the very notion is laughable and is factually a lie.

Honestly not impressed. WAY too much bloom, thought we left this nonsense back in 2007?

Syndacite says hello, in fact without modding it the bloom is so overpowering in sp it hurt my eyes.

Nintendo:
What was that? You guys want MORE bloom? Well... we thought it was a little much, but if you guys insist.....

Is there any word as to whether this is going to run at 720p or 1080p?

#147262 Will Wii U be next gen's PS3?

Posted by PedanticGamer on 12 December 2012 - 06:45 PM in Wii U Hardware

well nintendo isnt selling it at a ridiculous loss so no, also the graphics jump wont be as big as last gen so there's not as much to worry about 1080p is the standard resolution now since higher resolutions arent as common. all of the next gen console will probably look closer in graphics than last gen

Err have you seen what next gen is likely to look like using unreal engine 4 etc. The jump is ever bit as big (if not bigger).

#147075 Wii vs. Wii U graphics... and a specs discussion. All in one

Posted by PedanticGamer on 12 December 2012 - 01:18 PM in Wii U Hardware

I don't think it will happen what I mean is they can make make a video game that looks just like real life but that won't be simulating everything in the real word that will be going down to cellular and atomic levels of detail which just won't happen.

You can't see what happens at that level and thus can be seen as being irrelevant.

#151697 Wii U rubbish at being A WII

Posted by PedanticGamer on 25 December 2012 - 12:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

Yep the wii had terrible third party support and suffered in its later years as a result. I think the wiiU will be no different. Huge success at first and then slowly but surely the other consoles draw people away from the wiiU.

#148927 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by PedanticGamer on 17 December 2012 - 01:03 PM in Wii U Hardware

why? are you telling me you brought this machine as a hardcore gamer machine? if yes, then you clearly dont know Nintendo.. and even if its CPU is a tad weak.. even tho not by much! but who cares?

the GPU smashes the ever living crap out of the current gen machines and the Ram is double that of the xbox 360 and quadruple that of the PS3 effective RAM.
and on top of all that it is!! new and it IS! different! that's the 2 main reasons i got mine.. and it will do for a year or 2 until the heavyweights from Sony and or M$ are released.. its only 299 bucks, its easily worth it and will hold its own at least until the true next gen arrives!

The cpu a tad weak? Incorrect, it is extremely weak.

However if this is an issue for anyone I think they didn't do there homework before making a purchase.

#145837 Wii u next Gen

Posted by PedanticGamer on 09 December 2012 - 06:13 AM in Wii U Hardware

The issue (or possible issue) with the wiiU is a lack of power compared to what the ps4 and 360-2 may have, and more power does not just mean better graphics. It opens up more opportunities for what one can do with a game. More obviously people are cautious as third party support in recent years for the wii has been nearly non existent, largely as companies seemed reluctant to downport to the wii despite it being by far the best selling/most owned console at the time.

So yes the wiiU is next gen, but I do understand what people claiming it is not next gen are worried about (discounting the trolls who are saying it of course).

#145974 Wii u next Gen

Posted by PedanticGamer on 09 December 2012 - 02:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

Time will tell all. So far, 3rd party support for the Wii U does not seem to be an issue. Nintendo is looking to make amends for the lackluster support for the Wii due to arrogant, and frankly, appalling decisions that were made.

I think people expecting the PS4/Xbox Durango to blow us away with graphical realism will be in for a disappointment. I have little doubt that it will be more powerful than the Wii U, but I don't think it's going to be that great of a difference. It's also worth mentioning that by the time they come out, the developers will have 1-2 years experience with the Wii U. Most developers praised the console for the straightforwardness of its design and that Nintendo went through great lengths to minimize the bottlenecks developers typically find. Because of these factors, it's also possible that you may not see any noticeable degradation between the Wii U and its "next-gen" competitors in terms of gameplay/eye candy.

I sincerely hope we see a big jump as there is already a massive jump between current gen consoles and games on pc. If next gen isn't even able to match what is on pc atm we are going to see game stagnate, which is bad for both the consumer and those making the hardware and software.

To give you an idea, this is what can be done with of the shelf hardware in real time on a pc at the moment (not in the future, this is what can be done now, also this barely shows of how good this look, if you like I can try and find you a 1080p link with better compression but it would be a file you have to download).

Also Unreal Engine 4's tech demo:

I don't get it - all the bad stuff people were saying about it before launch..like the bad frames and all that jazz...the game sounds and plays fine..I think its the best version yet.

Sorry the PC version is notably better.

yes it is true on the Bioware website there are other dlcs.
To me Boiware giving away 7 free dlcs,
is plenty of free giveaways, probably too much.

After the ending we initially got, Bioware can't do enough to make up for that travesty.
