#178944 Zombi V...

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 04 March 2013 - 10:05 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Dublin or Belfast could be really good.

I like the idea of a more open plan london, it's a vast city of contrasts so there is plenty of scope.

Also Normandy is a good idea, Mont Saint-Micheal would be a perfect setting.

...that or Zombi U2 (Bono eats brains), I wonder what happen to Zombi A-T?

Whatever they call a sequel if they did make one where should it be set?

As a Londoner I loved the accuracy of the setting and quite frankly it made it all the more scary.

Off season Venice would be creepy (See the film Don't Look Now).

As the Developers are French I suspect they would opt for Paris.

#148937 Will Wii U be next gen's PS3?

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 17 December 2012 - 01:40 PM in Wii U Hardware

It'll be interesting to see who far the Wii U can be pushed. Will they produce (actual) 1080p games for the Wii U

#147502 Will Wii U be next gen's PS3?

I've not heard it's difficult to develop for outside of just being new and developers needing time to get use to it. The PS3 issue was about a complicated infrastructure leading to developer under using it's superior power.

The Xbox720 is at least a year off and is unlikely to be able to show off it's power from day one like most other consoles.

Ultimately it comes down to the games. I buy Nintendo (only) because I want Zelda, Mario etc, not because of the 3rd party titles or power.

It's safe to assume both the next gen Xbox and Playstation will come with plenty of Wii U crushing specs which will never fully be utilised and come with plenty of technical problems and a high price tag.

#184209 Will PS4 be 1080p only?

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 19 March 2013 - 11:04 AM in General Gaming

It seems like there will no 'great leap forward' for the next generation, just more polished product.

Which is no bad thing for nintendo as they'll be making the greatest leap encouraging upgrading from the Wii.

I haven't seen any next gen footage that has blown me away yet.

#188107 Wii U won't be getting Unreal Engine 4

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 30 March 2013 - 04:36 AM in Wii U Hardware

It seems like every piece of bad news is treated like it alone will bring down Nintendo. The 360 survived the ring of death, how much worse can it get than a massive fail rate.

It seem to me that these constant panic are based of a few misconceptions.

a) The next gen console race has begun.

B) Nintendo will be competing on the same basis

c) Nintendo will collapse if Wii U doesn't sell massive amount in the first twelve months.

The reality is that Microsoft haven't even announced their console and the PS4 isn't due till Xmas and even after that it'll take time for them develop next gen games. Nintendo have a huge headstart to settle in, build an installed base, lower manufacturing costs, develop the OS, build a software library and of course learn who to best utilise the hardware.

That said it won't be competing in exactly the same way just like with the Wii it'll find it's own niche. In twelve month time if it still isn't selling well, well they still have the successful 3DS and plenty of Yen in the bank to bail them out!

#158936 Wii U Virtual Console games will work on GamePad

Hopefully if they are going to include Gamepad play they'll release Handheld titles for the Wii U Virtual Console.

#187659 Wii U UK Sales Rose Almost 125 Percent Last Week

Good games (advertised) + Easter Break + Price Cuts show the way.

Summer holidays should help.

#183533 Wii U sells 4 times worse than PS3 and Xbox

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 17 March 2013 - 04:24 AM in Wii U Hardware

Don't Panic!

Nintendo have hardly run out of options yet!

They can still cut the price and/or create new bundles. They might even consider some advertising!!!!!

Timing is everything so I'm expecting they'll take action both before the School Holidays and again before the Holiday season.

Even by the end of 2013 Nintendo still have room to manoeuvre.

Games are coming, Pikmin, Need for Speed, Watchdogs, Assassins creed 4, Wonderful 101,  Lego titles and I suspect a few surprises before the end of the year

In the style of MH3 Ninty may have to grind this generation but the 3DS a slow start doesn't spell doom.

#183585 Wii U sells 4 times worse than PS3 and Xbox

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 17 March 2013 - 08:03 AM in Wii U Hardware

I think some Nintendo fans need to be more realistic in their expectations. The Wii U is once again like the GC, Wii, DS and 3DS not trying to compete in a power war with it's contemporaries. This strategy on one hand make's it less likely to attract ports on the other hand makes it attractive to a different audience.

You may not get the latest COD but you will attract developers look to target its specific target audience.

What worries me currently is the price and lack of decent advertising. Both things that can be fixed. When we they know what the others are offering then we'll hopefully see a change in approach.

It's certainly true that the Wii U isn't complete yet, TVii hasn't been launched in Europe and no Virtual Console. The article rings true to me.

#183537 Wii U sells 4 times worse than PS3 and Xbox

3 months to e3.

3 months to Nintendo giving people some reasons to buy the console.

Really is something that it's not out-selling 6 year old crap, you'd think everyone who wanted one of those would already have them.

I suspect they is an expectation the PS4/Xbox720 will be stupidly expensive and you might as well wait a few years as the current Gen system are still putting out lots of games. I wonder how many of those sales are replacements for faulty consoles!

The Wii U is defiantly a HUGE upgrade from the Wii, The PS4 just looks like a less annoying PS3. We don't even have a date for the next Xbox.

Once all the dates/specs/prices are known for the Next gen I imagine the current gen sales will drop off as people decided to hold out.

#146215 Wii U keeps disconnecting/reconnecting every few seconds

I change channels on my wifi router and it's started working again!

#145917 Wii U keeps disconnecting/reconnecting every few seconds

I'm having a similar problem. I can connect to the Internet, but the Miiverse, eShop and the 2nd update are as good as useless rarely connecting for more than a few seconds.

#185885 Wii U isn't doomed but it seems to be in trouble.

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 24 March 2013 - 12:39 PM in Wii U Hardware

they would say that halo is old news and that they are waiting for destiny lol

Nintendo could turn lead into gold and Patcher would predict disappoint sales of lead based products.

#147505 Wii U is in a precarious position

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 13 December 2012 - 06:41 AM in Wii U Hardware

For a positive scenario I'd suggest that the Wii U spends the next 12 months filling the gap left by the lack of another next gen console. With a Wii fans having grown older there is more of a market for 3rd parties to utilise a Wii U audience hungry for titles. The Xbox720 comes out next christmas at inflated price but very little new other than more power. The Wii U is manufacturing at a profit by then and is able drop the price and release the sure fire hit Mario Kart U whilst 3rd party developers are launching next gen titles for it.

Another 12 months later and Xbox 720 has started to realise next gen titles but is still behind on price, the PS4 launches with similar problems only more so now. Nintendo launch a revamped Wii U with the problems ironed out and an even lower price.

The Wii U Performs steadily for the following 3 years boosted by regular releases of it's own franchises, which it's audience are now familiar with after Nintendo Land, and responsible 3rd party support from companies.

Then several years ahead of a fourth Xbox and fifth Playstation it does a Ninth generation console. It put the squeeze on Sony and Microsoft by cutting across their usual seven cycle before their units have become really profitable.

Hmmm maybe not but it's a nice thought.

The thing about 3rd party support for Nintendo system is that the 1st party titles are so damn good! I'd like to see better 3rd party support rather than more. Shovelware etc.

It'd be nice if the Wii U wasn't an after thought to devolpers!

#202445 WHY DID YOU BUY THE WII U

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 01 May 2013 - 10:47 AM in Wii U Hardware

The Off-screen play was a big factor. I had a Wii but wanted to trade it in while it was still worth something and wanted to experience owning a console from the day of release. I've not regretted it all. Being able to play VC games off screen has been great.

The slow pace off new games hasn't bothered me as I had a few Wii games left to complete as well enjoying some of the exclusive and ported titles. I don't own any other consoles so ported titles having already been out didn't effect me, just a chance to check out what the fuss was all about.

It reminds me of gaming on the Megadrive as a kid when I unable to afford new games, it's been nice to really get into a game rather than constantly half completing titles.

#179426 Why are people doubting Wii U now because of PS4?

I've purchased 3 new (and two second hand)

#177068 What new nintendo IP do you want to see

Mario Paintball. Non lethal FPS for all ages!

Shoot Toad in the face. It would sell Millions.

#154478 What I'd like to see on the WiiU - Amy's wishlist!

Red Steel 2 was a lovely little game and a rare example of a developer getting to grips with the Wiimote.

#201558 Watchdogs release date confirmed.

Simultaneous release, Wii U specific features, nuff said.

Some more good news then. Destiny would be nice as well.

#185865 UK Price-cut (it's not very effective)

Posted by KarlMarx1818 on 24 March 2013 - 10:53 AM in Wii U Hardware

I was born and live in the UK and I can say with utmost certanty that 99% of gamers over here are soulless drones, anyone who argues this point congratulations your in the 1% of decent UK gamers. It's all CoD and bloody Fifa over here :(

As a fellow Uk'er I feel that's a touch harsh but their is an element of truth that those two franchise dominate the market.

It's positive on one hand that the Video Game consoles are not just nerd fodder in the UK but a social norm for young men, but that does result in the dominance of the aforementioned titles.

Although not on a Japanese scale there is a UK consumer base interested in more varied game experiences.
