Xbox 720 is a generation leap?

Well, we are technically rolling in the 8th gen at the moment, so does that mean Microsoft is ditching this generation altogether.

Generation leap from the xbox 360/ps3.

A few messages back, I stated that wii U should support only 1 controller with screen, as it drain lots of cpu power (1 core each controller) and 2 gpus so 1 gpu will maintain the controller screens and the other gpu, our games. As a result a native 1080p resolution for our games, with excellent performance in FPS (frame per second)... at least as an addon, for those who need more than 1 controller with screens.

And here is the news, but unfortunately not for wii U.. Next xbox 720, or netbox whatever they call it.. will come with 6 core cpu (as it needs cores for the controllers with screen), and 2 gpus!! So why nintendo never listens..

I mean they give us a powerful machine, equal to netbox or 720... but they decided to sacrifice the half power to the controllers, instead of finding a way to add extra power for it, even as a hardware addon.. At least, that was my point..

I mean, nintendo could support 1 controller by default and to avoid the extra hardware drain from wii U, they could release a hardware addon (a mobile gpu and cpu in a slik box), to be able support more than 1 controllers with screen... That could give us extra power for the wii U by default, and more controllers for those who want to spend more. (or wii U could have a plug n play/hot swap slot for this hardware as an upgrade, whatever)..

If you read more you know that guy was mocked at by them showing some GOW3 footage and than when a person tried to show the bird demo people ignored it and the only response it was given was "it doesn't look that good" but its kinda calming down now I think.

Lol I laugh at this since its the same dev saying the wiiu is less powerful than the 360 and because of that we can assume its worst than the 360 without the controller draining energies because of the lack of Shaderz and Powerz and it can't use 2 controllers only 1 and with only 1 one controller because its weaker than the 360 its probably only going to be able to have sub HD resolution chances are SD in most games with graphics lower than the 360 so we can assume close or possible lower than vita. Honestly I really don't know other than I lost faith in Humanity being able to express common sense. Nintendo could go say something like the Wiiu is running off a modified radeon 6990 and the recent dev kit is surpassing radeon 7970 in quite a few respects and stuff like it being weaker than the last gen consoles would still go around and be believed so im not sure if Nintendo could do anything.

Yeah but I was just using that as a example I really didn't mean it being that strong since in specs it won't.
That being said apart from resolution I think that next gen console titles will look better than games on that card right now since that is the pattern even though that card will run next gen games better or at least at first until 4 years into it ,in which the crazy optimization of the games on console pushes something that the card can't handle because of less specific optimization for games to run on that specific graphic cards compared to console even if the specs are weaker.

But that being said that why well I do use computer graphics to get a idea their not the most percise thing to use since the consoles games will be optimize to that console which is why you really can't go by the performance of a specific card on the PC alone.

Yeah Neogaf is still and been exploding since the 2nd because as you know Only anon devs are telling the truth since named devs are being payed to say nice things which is why all of them says nice things well anon devs talk precisely to the point that the wiiu sucks and is pretty much a wii with shaders but not as good shaders as 360/ps3 so the Wiiu = 3ds.

Gonna love seeing the fanboys meltdown when they see Wii U is actually decently powerful at E3... and then even more when they see the games.

So apparently, this is what graphics from a system that has "graphics not as powerful" as the Xbox 360 and PS3 is capable of doing on underclocked barely alpha dev kits. It amazes me that this kind of press can spread from one website who has no named source as their guide and has never had an exclusive on anything of relevance before two days ago. EPIC, Crytek, Gearbox and even bipolar Vigil have said that the Wii U is more powerful than the current HD consoles.

Back at E3 2011 Gearbox had this to say about still evolving Wii U tech:

"Right now we're still finding out what kind of final tech specs the Wii U is going to have," said Martel.
"We've got the [Aliens: Colonial Marines] engine running on the Wii U, and as far as the console goes, you're going to see textures at a resolution that you haven't seen on [the current] generation," said Martel.

Mike Capps & Mark Rein from EPIC Games have made several comments on the Wii U in the past year:

"At the launch event at E3, some of the products that you saw running on Wii U were based on Unreal Engine technology. So that kind of gives you an idea of where we are in that space. It is also pretty common knowledge that in the tech demos shown above, the Wii U was producing some effects (the lighting for example) that were not possible on the current HD platforms. All this produced on dev kits that were hampered from needing to be underclocked to prevent overheating. When you also factor in the rather large power boost the kits got in January, Nintendo will truly have a Wii U system ready for E3 that will really surprise a lot of people with what it can do graphically (like what Mark Rein said earlier).

It's pretty sad how easily people and different websites (IGN & 1UP) can get caught up in anonymous talk from unknown sources. These type of things should not even be reported when official game developers have already made statements concerning the Wii U's power. It's just bad journalism and misinformation.

If you are a "Nintendo is doomed" kind of person, then you would be quick to believe anything negative about Nintendo's new console. However, regardless of who is a fanboy for what company or console, at the end of the day official statements are official statements, no matter how much faith you want to put in anonymous comments that seem to match your personal feelings and put you in a state of denial about the truth.

But remember All named Devs are payed by Nintendo Anon devs are honest and the best devs not to mention all the wiiu demos has low polygons especially the Bird demo it was unimpressive and ugly (The zelda demo really did have low polygons but the lighting was fabulous )

Who will be the first company to build a Console that can be upgraded like a PC? Right now sound like a good idea, but I have huge doubts that it is.

Since it's getting close to E3 that's what happens, every week now we will probably get new rumors about the Wii U, PS4 and 720.

actually I hear that Nintendo will have a addon you can buy for around 80 dollars that updates the graphics to YD-963A (System shown here but Anon Sources tell me it won't be available until 5 years after launch.
