I say either gen IV because that was the first I played, or gen V because thats what I'm playing now.

Nintendo
Good:
The 3DS will continue to dominate the handheld market and the Wii U will get more 3rd party support and improve and likely end up in second
Bad:
The Wii U wont be another Wii and sell huge amounts or as much as the PS4
Sony
Good:
The PS4 will likely "win" the 8th generation
Bad:
The whole PS Vita situation
Microsoft:
What everyone else said

Giratina, it was the first legendary I caught, (in diamond), and it was with a poke ball. It was also my first level 100.

No, the games are very different. The two games have different stories. It would be like playing Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon Heart Gold. They can communicate but are otherwise different.

I hope that people will play with items during tournaments. Also I hope that more random and possibly match ruining things will happen!

That's not what tournaments are for. Tournaments are for determining who has more skill, not who is closer to a better item when it drops. When you're playing for fun, not super competitive, then items are fine. Why would you want items in a tournament of skill?
I think tournaments should measure how good you are at the game. If luck is a part of the game, then it should be included.

Wii U Hardware Help
Nintendo is very nice with replacing items in my experiences. I think Nintendo will replace the gamepad for free or a fraction of the cost.

It cost $100.00 just to replace your old Wii U Gamepad.
Only if you were the reason the gamepad needs fixing. It sounds like it came defective, so the repairs will be almost free.
