Doh! I was posting Jim Morrison's(Chipworks) comments and completely missed 3Dude's post. My bad.

Nintendo sure loves their custom designs. Fourth Storm, over at NeoGAF, said that someone from Chipworks would be able to help decipher the chip even further. Hopefully, we'll get more info soon.

#176016 Exactly how large is the power gap between the Wii U and the PS4?

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 25 February 2013 - 10:25 AM in Wii U Hardware

I expect the gap to be decent, but nothing compared to Wii--->PS3/360.

#176741 Exactly how large is the power gap between the Wii U and the PS4?

Posted Image VS Posted Image

as much as i love the wii u, this is pretty telling.

This just tells me the power gap will be much closer than Wii---->PS3/360. Both look great.

#176765 Exactly how large is the power gap between the Wii U and the PS4?

Both demos are clearly scripted, but Zelda is running in real-time. As far as the other? Not sure.

#176778 Exactly how large is the power gap between the Wii U and the PS4?

The Zelda demo was running on target hardware back in 2011, which is not representative at all of the final hardware.

Oh yes, I'm aware. :)

#160301 What is your favorite gaming system?

NES for me. So many fond memories and so many great games. It will always be #1.

#174568 Need for Speed: Most Wanted U [Criterion 'definitive' version]

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 22 February 2013 - 01:50 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I will sya this looks better then the other console releases but definitive version? A racing game that seems to have a 30fps cap is the definitive version as apposed to an uncapped frame rate on pc.... really?

They probably meant definitive console version, not the best version out of all the platforms.

this looks interesting! when is the demo coming out?

Not sure. If we get one, I'd guess early March.

New Wii U demo:

Looks really good!

Color me quite impressed. It's refreshing to see a developer put forth the effort to demonstrate that the Wii U is clearly more capable than the HD twins. I will reward this effort by picking up the game upon release.

#174086 Ps4=Wii U in graphics IMO

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 21 February 2013 - 10:06 AM in General Gaming

I think most of the Nintendo fans here also have more then one platform. :)

Yep. :) Got a Wii U day 1 and plan on getting a PS4 day 1 as well. Still waiting to see what Microsoft shows us.

#174076 Ps4=Wii U in graphics IMO

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 21 February 2013 - 09:49 AM in General Gaming

PS4 clearly has the advantage, but I don't think the power gap will be as large as Wii---->PS3/360. I can see a situation where Wii U=low/medium PC settings and PS4/Durango=High/Ultra PC settings. We need to see a full-fledged AAA game built from the ground up for Wii U to get an idea of where it sits tech-wise(I'm looking at you, Retro).

#174112 Ps4=Wii U in graphics IMO

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 21 February 2013 - 11:17 AM in General Gaming

Funny thing is, that for a lot of players it seems to be a taboo for having more then one console. It's either Wii U or PS4/PC/Nextbox, but not both... :P

Don't understand why, to be honest. I know pricing is a huge factor for some and, that alone, keeps many gamers from being able to purchase every console within a given generation. However, if you can afford it, I say go for it. More options never hurt anyone and you get the best of all worlds.

#165566 What is Retro Studios Working on?

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 01 February 2013 - 03:36 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, I don't see Retro using anything other than Nintendo's proprietary engines. Now, I can see them using third-party development tools like Havok, but those are more of a support for the primary engine that powers the game.

#165192 What is Retro Studios Working on?

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 31 January 2013 - 09:35 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I would welcome a new Metroid with open arms. However, I wouldn't mind seeing a new IP either.

#176718 What is Retro Studios Working on?

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 26 February 2013 - 02:40 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I have no doubt that Retro can tackle any project that is set before them and make it sing. Pokémon is simply a franchise I never got into, so it wouldn't appeal to me. But hey, if that's what Retro is working on and it turns out to be spectacular, then that's great for Pokémon fans. :)

#176724 What is Retro Studios Working on?

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 26 February 2013 - 02:51 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Star Fox would be a great franchise for Retro to jump on. I'd be cool with that. The fact that we know nothing about their project is frustrating. The anticipation for E3 is killing me.

#176710 What is Retro Studios Working on?

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 26 February 2013 - 02:24 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I could see an open-world Pokémon RPG being very successful on Wii U.

However...

If this is what Retro is working on, I'll be very disappointed. I want to see Retro make a game that will make the Wii U shine and blow people away. I don't see Pokémon fitting into that scenario. (Not knocking on Pokémon, btw... :) ).

Personally, I want a new 3D Metroid. Not a Prime game, but a new Metroid adventure, more or less, in the same style.

#176676 PS4 launch=Wii U price cut?

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 26 February 2013 - 01:10 PM in Wii U Hardware

Once Nintendo releases their big-hitters, console sales should grow considerably and stay steady. Instead of price cuts, Nintendo should just release compelling bundles with different software and accessories. The Zombi U bundle that was released in Europe and the one that just came out in NA is a great start. Wish they would've had the NA bundle at launch. Definitely would've picked it up.

#221827 The Wii U should have been as powerful as the Xbox one.

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 14 June 2013 - 01:54 PM in Wii U Hardware

Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2 and X look absolutely insane. I have no worries. And this is just the beginning. Nintendo's output will only get better. If third-parties put in the same effort with their offerings and truly take advantage of the U's capabilities, Wii U will stand tall and proud. Sure, the other machines have more under the hood, but the Wii U has shown that it can produce some amazing results. It's all about the games and Nintendo always delivers. I tremble in excitement and anticipation for Metroid and Zelda. I can't wait!

#159533 Disc vs Download

Posted by Crispy Bacon on 15 January 2013 - 12:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I buy retail unless the title I want is exclusively digital. Still, digital has it's advantages and conveniences. My only gripe with the DD service on Wii U is the fact that purchases are tied to the console and not your NNID. I believe this is a big gripe amongst Wii U owners and I hope Nintendo can fix this at some point.
