#211234 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

How will be the story on the new Smash? Are they going to have a special look on the single player again? I hope so, Subspace Emissary is delicious.

And a Ranking System is a great idea! It would increase the Homerun Contest replay a lot.

There are any chances of they make the online system based in "rooms"? Something like in League of Legends or Kaillera, where the player creates the room and just wait the other player to enter. Like Mario Kart 7 Communities, but it would be global. I think it would help with the time waiting in search for other players problem of Brawl..

We don't really know much about it. No concrete details about the actual gameplay have been released. We DO know that Sakurai wnts to make the 3DS version a more single player experience, while the Wii U version will be a traditional smash game, so I'm guessing the 3DS one will have a superb storyline. We'll get more info in 17 days xD

Some type of Leaderboards / Ranking System for such a popular game would be a good idea!

I think I would cry if they didn't have a proper ranking system. That would be so important in this next one with a solid online system. PLEASE

Am I the only one here that loved brawl's adventure mode? U would make the game like brawl, but faster combat and more trophys, a lot more trophys.

No I enjoyed it quite a lot! I liked how all the characters interacted! I thought it was fun. Hopefully they expand off it in the new one!

I think tournaments should measure how good you are at the game. If luck is a part of the game, then it should be included.

That isn't a test of skill though. That isn't what tournaments are about. They aren't about luck, they are about how good you are at the game. Items are when you are playing casually with your friends, and I'm not dissing items in anyway by saying that. They're fun! I love playing with items when everything is just for fun! But if someone challenges me, or if I'm entering a tournament soon, I don't practice using items correctly. It makes no sense. That isn't what tournaments are for.

I hope that people will play with items during tournaments. Also I hope that more random and possibly match ruining things will happen!

That's not what tournaments are for. Tournaments are for determining who has more skill, not who is closer to a better item when it drops.  When you're playing for fun, not super competitive, then items are fine. Why would you want items in a tournament of skill?

So glad Sakurai confirmed we'll see a TRAILER. Screens would have been good but a trailer is better.

So I hate to be a debby downer, but the way that he phrased it in Japanese could be translated into EITHER trailer or picture. So while it will hopefully be a trailer, technically it really hasn't been confirmed

TRAILER

I really think it will be, just due to the fact that I think he knows a bunch of screenshots would really suck. But just clarifying so that if BY SOME GOD AWFUL CHANCE it is just screenshots, we aren't completely surprised

The way they did it last time was, there were 3 tournaments in 3 different places. Los Angeles, San Francisco & Boston, all 256 entrants. The player who won the tourney at each place got a BUNCH of prizes & then a ticket to participate in the finals in NY. Waiting on line was long but funny & the tournament of course had a lot of people. REALLY hope they do it again so that I can join!

Aw man I would so join that! Boston isn't too far... only like 8 hours...

For all the Facebook users who enjoy Smash updates, giveaways & tournaments: http://www.facebook.com/SSBWIIU3DS

I REALLY hope Nintendo does a release tournament for SSBU like they did for SSBB. I couldn't join because I was too young but my friend got top 32 out of 256 entrants with Samus.

Hey thanks! I would love if they did that, I didn't even know about it at the time. Would there be many across the country or would it be just one?

Enjoy

About Pac-Man

Pac-Man's moves could easily go like this:

Melee moves: Consist of different punch/kick combos

Special: Rev roll: Attack where here charges & rolls fast. This move could be cancel into other specials or melee moves for mix-ups.

Side Special: Pellet Throw. In Pac-Man World 1 you practically did nothing but pellet throws to kill the final boss toc.

Down Special: Butt Bounce. Pac-Man does 3 butt bounces in a roll & is quite mobile while doing so making his butt bounce unique & better than bowser & yoshi's butt bounce.

Up Special: Pac-a-Dot Trail. Tether recovery consisting of pellots.

His grab would actually be him trying to bite you, get attack is a bite & then you can throw your opponent in any direction.

Pac-Man can definitely happen, and his chances are pretty good.

No no no no no no no no

Edit: But the video is cool :D

I say there won't be more than 45 characters. Wouldn't shock me if there were at the most 40 (not including transformations). He said he thought the roster was already almost at the max he wanted it to be

super smash bros 4  on wii u and 3ds will require both of them to finish 100%  to get all unlockables,

Super Smash Bros. Wii U / 3DS is an upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS video game in the Super Smash Bros. series. It is being developed by Namco Bandai Games, and directed by series creator Masahiro Sakurai. The game was announced at E3 2011 by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. During the presentation he confirmed that both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game will feature some sort of cross-platfrom connectivity.

http://nintendo.wiki...os._Wii_U_/_3DS

That's not what it's saying. It's saying they'll be inter connectable. So you'll be able to do what Monster Hunter is doing, take it on the go, play with people on the opposite console.  Sure there might be achievements or challenges with little insignificant prizes like those stickers, but if someone is going to be enough of a collector to actually care about those, they would probably want both games anyway.  There aren't going to be any console specific characters. At least, there shouldn't be. I doubt he would do that

Super Smash Bros. Riot

Yes. And hmm... I don't like riot or unleashed really. I don't really know what I like though. Nothing I think of sounds right

Also, could be funny if Nintendo introduced a special mode or defense (in case of imminent loss) that would change the rules during the game. For example, changing button directions for a moment (instead of pressing a button to go one way you would go the other way) or even button customization to through people off. Stuff to create havoc!

... I think the blue shell in Mario Kart is enough 'special case for imminent loss' for me. I don't need none of dat in my SSB xD

Now that you mention it, it would be cool to see that in MK... too!  :D

Actually, the stage Spear Pillar in Brawl sort of did that. Sometimes Dialga or Palkia would change the controls of everyone, making everything backwards if I remember correctly

The characters that I really wanna see are :

From Brawl : Everyone except for Jigglypuff, Toon Link, Ike, R.O.B., Lucas, Lucario, and Game & Watch

as well as Ghirahim, Paper Mario, "masked marth" (even if it's just a costume for Marth), Micaiah, Shulk, and a new 6th gen Pokemon would be really cool!

I have seen rumors of the next Snash Bros. not adding anymore character slots. Does anybody know if this is true or just a rumor?

He said that he thought that the game had nearly reached the maximum number of characters it can have while being relatively balanced. So I mean he didn't say it directly, but we probably won't be seeing too many more characters

That kind of stuff can be so funny.

I wish i liked the franchise, i really do. It seems great!

You don't like the Super Smash Bros. franchise...?

Is it true this game is possibly coming out this year? I saw it listed for this year on the Wikipedia list of Wii U games, but couldn't find much elsewhere.

And there isn't an official release date yet, no real information has really been released on the game. While it's possible that the game will be coming out by the end of the year, I highly doubt it. I'm predicting a Spring 2014 release

Lots of wii u games are adding stupid features to accomadate

the gamepad. I'm worried that might happen to SSB4.

Yeah, in an interview... http://www.ign.com/a...er-smash-bros-4

Sakurai said that he didn't want to make the controls complicated for the sake of it, so I doubt they'll add anything dumb to it just to incorporate the gamepad

I was referring to how people label lower-tier characters as "crap" as if they're garbage and completely unusable. Lower-tier characters more or less put their user at a slight disadvantage.

And how do you come off judging my skill level based off my opinion of a character I use? As a counterexample, I've seen a lot of crappy players that use high-tier characters to compensate for their lack of skill at the game. Last time I checked, Meta Knight was banned from tournaments because he was so high on the tier list.

Actually, Meta Knight is only banned in most United States tournaments. In other countries he isn't banned at all.

The purpose of a tier list isn't to stop you from playing the character you like.

A large part of the tier list is based off of tournament results. The top players show how good a character can actually be, or show the character at it's current max potiental. Unless your Mewtwo kicked *** at tournaments with players who are actually good at the game & you consistantly place high with him, you only prove that your mewtwo can beat random scrubs/intermediate players, which of course means absolutely nothing if we are talking about which characters are the best at the game.

I've also noticed a trend, majority of the people who believe the whole "tiers 4 queers" crap are the bad-intermediate players. They NEVER actually disprove the tier list accuracy.

And yeah, I know that the tier list is only based off of tournament results. I wasn't denying that, or saying that they aren't accurate or anything, I'm just saying I play who i enjoy playing with.  Olimar is actually high up on the tier list, while Wolf, the other character who I always use (and normally actually tend to do better with) is pretty low

lol, Tiers R 4 Qu- yeah. And I really don't see why so many people deemed him a "bad" character. I kicked *** with Mewtwo. He was my second favorite character, next to Falco.

AAAGH I CAN'T WAIT FOR E3. I WANT TO SEE SOME SMASH BROS 4 FOOTAGE.

Yeah I mean i don't really pay attention to tiers either, I play who I like playing with. Like Olimar!! And Wolf!! I wish I could play Melee... But I haven't played in so long, I'm terrible at it xD

And I know!!! Ahhhhhh almost only two months away!!!

I agree. Although, I enjoyed Sonic in Brawl (pairing up two level 9 CPUs of Mario and Sonic was always interesting), but I still think it would be best for the franchise to stay away from third-parties completely. I liked the way it was in Melee where it was purely Nintendo characters. Brawl strayed away from that and it felt watered-down.

I just want Mewtwo back. GTFO, Lucario.

Hahaha I so agree, Lucario had no place in Brawl. He's a goner. Mewtwo was so much cooler, even if he wasn't that good :/
