Awesome.
Besides being a nice April Fool's joke, it also really shows they are confident with the path their company is taking.
So much doom and gloom, yet Nintendo finds a way to turn it around and laugh about it.
Respect.

I think it was fan made.
Should have checked the link
(and use less of the green stuff)
Ah well, if so, then it's still a nice joke and I still agree with the message ^^.

Anyone else want to see Shovel Knight join the roster?
I think he'd be an awesome addition, even though it's very unlikely.

2 year old necro, nice.
Whats up with boicejupepect's post lol.
He was indeed hired by Microsoft after he made numerous Nintendo Wii Mote/Sensorbar videos.
It always surprised me that Nintendo never did anything with this, and even more so when they announced that they put a sensor bar in the Wii U Gamepad.
I was convinced they were going to come out with glasses free 3D for a home console. (Made a post about it here somewhere as well, back when it was still called Project Café)
It's still possible as all the material is there, here's hoping they'll drop this bomb at E3 or its an added feature in the summer patch ^^

Jealousy ensues.
Too bad I can't get my hands on either of those games yet.
Hope you enjoy them as much as the reviews suggest!

Well, it clearly showed all of the aspects of the game: the single player, 3DS co-op, 3DS-Wii U co-op, file transfer, and online play with voice chat. The expressions were exaggerated, but they showed that you will be frustrated, then determined, then excited when you beat it. I personally thought it was the best Wii U ad so far, certainly a lot better than the multicolored cubes.
Well to me it only showed you fight big monsters with multiple people, I assume the game has a story 'n stuff
.
It also has a very different combat system than other games.
I agree its better than some other adverts, but simply being better doesn't mean good.
Maybe I'm just being extra harsh cause of the overacting (something I can't stand
)

I'd rather see a boy in a fight with a real dragon but people like to be identified as social beings. This makes it more of an illusion but most buyers will think, ah this might be nice to play, maybe for their kids. True, towards the core gamer this is not what you'd want but do core gamers need commercials, nah, they already made up their mind with previews, reviews, forums, demo's and so on. This is not for us but for the common folk.
If I'd see a commercial about a game on TV I'd like to know what the game is really about, sort of like a short review without spoilers.
All this showed was people playing a game and having fun, something you see in every other commercial, but fails to explain why its fun.
I don't enjoy every game like people do in commercials, so why should this one stand out.
Then again, I can't think of any commercial that's ever enticed me to buy anything really, so maybe I shouldn't go on personal experience.

Why always show so much of who is playing the game and their overacted faces and movements instead of focusing on what the game is about?
All you know about the game now is there are big monsters and you can play with other people...

And for a company that even lies about its third party support, you cant expect much really.

I want to say I'm surprised, but I'm really not. SONY lies and over-hypes all the time.

Tbh this kind of reminds me of the ps3 hype over the 360 after both 2005 conferences revealed them and most people were thinking that the ps3 was going to blow the 360 away and the thrid party games were going to be better looking on that system... We all know how that turned out. This is just a wait-n-see how dev are going to take advantage of the systems they develop for and I honestly believe Wii U games will look just as amazing as ps4 but what do I know I'm not a dev .
True, as others have pointed out before, diminishing returns is gonna bite em in the ass.

do have a fear that retro might be over hyped..., but still surprise those who dont know about it.
Aye, this popped in my head, though has Retro brought us anything that wasn't gold yet?
I don't think there is such a thing as over hyped with Retro, they'll deliver no matter how much hype there is ^^ .

Just about all of the actual games that they showed off at E3 2011 became actual games: Chase Mii and Battle Mii became Mario Chase and Metroid Blast in Nintendoland, the pirate rhythm game is going to be in Game amd Wario, and NSMB Mii is NSMBU. Ghost Recon Online seems dead now though, and there there was a little competative drawing game that didn't get much coverage. As for the Bird and Zelda Demos? That would be cool for a bit, but I would eventually get bored with it.
I think he meant that during the conference the demo's will be available for download at home.
Being playable until the conference ends.
I also think he confused it with last years Blizzcon where they talked about such an idea.

I really want SSB4 to be announced earlier and playable at E3 instead. SSB4 IMO needs to be one of the titles sold during the holiday season. Nothing like a fighting game to settle those family feuds.
Miyamoto has said that they want E3 to be a platform for people to try out their games.
They will be using the Nintendo Directs and other opportunities more to make the announcements.
For SSB4, I doubt it will be playable though, it's too early in its development I reckon.
Mario Kart, 3D Mario and probably Wind Waker will be playable though, that's enough for me
(even though I can't go, always nice to spam Youtube gameplay video's for a couple weeks)

I have no doubt that Retro can tackle any project that is set before them and make it sing. Pokémon is simply a franchise I never got into, so it wouldn't appeal to me. But hey, if that's what Retro is working on and it turns out to be spectacular, then that's great for Pokémon fans.
Fair enough, my preference goes out to a new Star Fox game actually.
I really enjoyed the first Pokémon gameboy release but I haven't seen anything worth buying another one after that really, maybe just hoping Retro can breathe new life into it.

If this is what Retro is working on, I'll be very disappointed. I want to see Retro make a game that will make the Wii U shine and blow people away. I don't see Pokémon fitting into that scenario. (Not knocking on Pokémon, btw...
).
You might not see that, but the beautiful thing is, Retro Studios might and if they do, being the developers they are, they will succeed.
Wouldn't it be much more amazing if you're blown away by a game that you don't expect it from.
Pokémon with Zelda HD demo-style graphics?

The fact that "stylized" graphics were mentioned scares me. When Nintendo did a cartoonish Zelda I was 100% on board. That universe fits the sylized cartoonish look very well, but when you start talking about a cartoonish Metroid game, you've lost me. The Metroid franchise just works best with realistic graphics, and an epic story.
If Retro is working on a Metroid game, and it turns out to be a "stylized" game, I will have a very hard time justifying the purchase. I will probably buy it and I might even enjoy it, but unless they can really impress me with gameplay/story I will find it hard to get past the cartoonish look.
How does stylized = cartoonish? It just means non realistic, like a fantasy world, like the Metroid universe.

Ok place your bets:
I'm not willing to put money on this but what I would prefer is this:
They're working on 2 games, a Star Fox reboot and a new IP
They've done the Metroid Trilogy and I think they can leave it alone for a while.
Whatever they do with Star Fox is fine with me, I have faith in them.
The new IP i'd like to be an action/adventure/sandbox game with the occasional puzzle/platform sections.
I'd love a mix of cartoon style graphics and realistic fantasy, as in both styles in the game, not a compromise between the 2.
Extremely dark humour and an excessive amount of realistic gore, violence and horror.
Think Conker's Bad Fur Day + MadWorld + Eternal Darkness.
Throughout the entire game you should not be sure whether to laugh, cry or scream.
The best way to describe whats in my head:
Quentin Tarantino makes a movie with Disney and Pixar characters stuck in room 1408 with Jack Torrance and Regan MacNeil
My actual bet would be on just 1 game and it'll be Star Fox,
most of the original gameplay intact but some unexpected additions.
Not a change as big as Metroid, but not so close to the originals as Donkey Kong.
