#235168 YEAH SO WHATS THE TRICK AND WHAT OTHER TRICKS DOES WII U HAVE

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 27 July 2013 - 03:09 AM in Wii U Hardware

i truly dont think so... I was thinking today and it ticked me off even more. EA on launch released fifa, madden, ME3, and then the need for speed most wanted U. We know Crytek said they had a running finished version of Crysis 3 ready for launch. those crappy ports why didnt EA release Crysis 3 for Wii U. Crytek has gone on record about the Wii U hardware and i have no doubt the Wii U version probably out performed ps360 version i doubt Crytek would have wanted to release it if it was a crap fast port. but EA not wanting to release that game but a crap madden and fifa that didnt have features that ps360 had showed exactly how they feel.

because they intended to back-stab from the start.

we do not know exactly how much the same is  using for textures, but i am a little skeptical to think they are using 300megs per level in it. Especially since the game itself is 300 megs

so obviously  its saving more than 50% the texture size.

doesnt matter what do people expect gamers to believe. if a good 75 percent of big 3rd parties arent bringing their games to Wii U and all they can say is game engine cant  be ran are difficult or sacrificies have to be made to ge the game to run on Wii U... what do people expect the general perceptin of Wii U to be?

Obviously the stigma would still be there, but even if they DID put out games people would still think the same thing.

again doesnt mean anything if "BIG"  3rd parties dont know about or refuse to use these features and make multiplats better than ps360 versions. the majority will still see Wii U as barely a step up from last gen.... I know and have faith Nintendo will show amazing visuals for their titles but what about 3rd parties?

third parties are jerks and get no cake

OBVIOUSLY i would look that word up before INCURECTLY USING IT

the games 300mb yes COMPRESSED  oh the irony the irony he tried to look smart and custard pied his face OBVIOUSLY

yes OBVIOUSLY ITS A COMPRESSED DIGITAL GAME is it not

nano assult is what a 100mb game or whatever IS THAT IN TOTAL OR COMPRESSED HAVE A GUESS :D

ARE YOU ALSO IMPLYING THEY LIED

no.... i am implying they are saving quite a bit more than 50%, i even said that.

nano assault uses procedurally generated textures so the size of the game while running is much larger than that of it as a file.

Toki Tori 2 uses  premade textures images.

#239693 Would you buy a Legacy Controller (gamecube style)?

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 16 August 2013 - 08:03 PM in Wii U Hardware

i dont think we need a controller for the few games that use them. It will be easier (and cheaper) just to remake the game that uses the new controls

#235138 Wonky GamePad Magnetometer?

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 27 July 2013 - 12:12 AM in Wii U Hardware

Actually the magnetometer will always  work the same way, because it works by sensing the  direction of the earths magnetic pull. Its a device they put in so you will not need to recalibrate as much. Things that can  affect the magnetometer are things like  magnets, radiation, electricity (which always gives off some magnetic energy) and your own stupidity in breaking it. So its unlikely it is the problem, unless you hit it againt something, stuck a magnet on the device, have a  electrical device that gives off small electrical magnetic bursts  periodically or is faulty.

Christ 3dude why do you keep ranting all the time with your ridiculous opinions. You spoil just about every thread with ridiculous statements that only you believe or other demented Nintendo fanboys?

Your comments simply have no connection with reality. Yes the wii u cpu setup is weak, this is widely reported and often seen in games that underperform in in wii u.

Yes cartoon graphics are much easier to do than real life graphics because real life is much more diverse with regard textures, lighting and how things should behave. wii was competitive although weak for cartoon graphics but truly abysmal compared to 360 and PS3 for realism. This is nothing surprising. With cartoon graphics you don't have the set rules you have to follow you can basically design graphics around what works best for a specific console. There are some terrifc cartoon graphics on 360 and PS3.

You keep writing as if there is some conspiracy against wii u and with no acceptance that the wii u simply is a weak console that struggles to outperform current gen and you write with such resentment towards other consoles and their games.

As a wii u, 360 and ps3 owner I can see the wii u is underperforming compared to current gen models overall.

The wii u has failed commercially probably because its offering current gen performance at next gen prices.

The wii u uses a tiny amount of power and is built around a low cost fabrication process that is much more power hungry at 45nm than ps4/xbone at 28nm., its impressive such a console is competitive with 360/PS3 in performance on that basis. It's an incredibly cheap design, unfortunately its horribly backfired on Nintendo as the wii u has not sold like wii.

Hardly anything you write has any connection with real world performance of wii u and its real world performance of the wii u that is killing it at retail. It's like the wii u console in your mind and the actual wii u console released to the world are two different consoles.

Oh mighty master of  proof. Please explain how come  you are always pointing out excuses made by companies that  hardly even touched the wii u. Oh please show me how amazingly these games were coded to use all cores when they were not. Please show  how lack of load balancing and therefor using less than half the available  CPU power yet still running games that  somehow require a core that runs at double the clock because its so weak. I  grovel at how good you are at explaining and proving points. Lay this wicked believer to rest with more bs. *bow bow*

sorry for shouting !

STOP COMPARING THE WIIU TO THE PS3/X360 !

everyone here, well most of them keep on about how the WiiU is next-gen (eighth gen) yet keep comparing its games & spec to the PS3/X360 which is seventh gen, don't come here trolling with so called facts when you don't have a clue what your on about.

i want eighth gen games on my (apparently) eighth gen Nintendo console, people keep going on about how great 101, Mario Kart & a few others are going to be, but 101 & Mario Kart could be played on PS3/X360 machines,  Bayonetta 2 is slightly different because it has more realistic graphics, as apposed to cartoony ones like Mario Kart & 101.

i'm not having a go at you, but i am fed up with people apparently supporting the WiiU but comparing the games coming out to PS3/X360 games, when the demos of PS4/X1 games look so much better than the coming WiiU games.

cant exactly   compare it to the PS4 or Xbox 1 since they are not even out. And most the games they showed  did not accually run on the systems. And sony also has a tendency to lie though their teeth about specs while also showing exaggerated demos  that turn  out that games never have that quality or  do at the end of their life.

#231498 wiiu's power

This still seems a good source for direct comparison;

http://gamrconnect.v...d.php?id=136756

Although that said Sony has confirmed the ps4 has a dedicated sound processor like xbox one but its likely just an arm core embedded somewhere or an extension to the gpu. Not a big difference.

Ultimately people will believe what they want to believe but again if you look around elsewhere on the web you will see the general consensus is the wii u is punching above 360 and PS3 with regard the gpu (not by much though) but punching below with regard cpu. Some games or game engines possible on 360 and PS3 may not be possible to the same level on wii u. However where the wii u shines is for gpu centric games with low cpu requirements. This type of game should punch above 360 and ps3. We may not be seeing that fully yet but I think we will when Nintendo's titles arrive.

Lets not forget the wii u main memory is only 12.8GB/s not even as fast as the memory bandwidth of ps3 and 360. That 32MB of video memory will clearly help with bandwidth but that main memory bandwidth of 12.8GB/s still has to be shared by the gpu and cpu.

As ever don't get your information from fanboys but look to unbiased sources, look how the games are actually performing, what the developers are saying about how the wii u compares to other consoles. Check out forums that have no particularly loyalty to any one console brand and read the technical threads there. In a Nintendo forum you are likely to read posts that bear little connection to reality with many exaggerated claims of performance that can easily seen to be false. Anyone who clearly shows resentment or anger about other formats is not going to be fair about their opinion of them.

Did you know that the Xbox 360 has Slower ram? at 11.2 ghz, the difference is  that the xbox 360 is full duplex, while  the Wii U has half duplex 12.8 ghz. Meaning it can read OR  write at a time but not both. Making it accually faster at  either given task.  But with the 32 megs  full duplex is unnecessary  since it can read and write  using both pools. The embedded will most likely be programed for  writing and the  main will be used more for reading. Putting it  far ahead of what the Xbox 360 can do.

#231505 wiiu's power

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 14 July 2013 - 11:30 AM in Wii U Hardware

where does the guy in the video say that the WiiU texture bandwidth isn't slow ?

GDDR5 & GDDR3 are NOT the same, GDDR3 benefits from low latency at the expense of bandwidth, GDDR5's case is the opposite.

The other point is that the PS4 doesn't have eDRAM because it doesn't need it, the X1 uses eSRAM to boost the GDDR3.

PS4 system bandwidth - 176 GBs = 176

X1 - system bandwidth - 68.3GBs (eSRAM bandwidth 102GBs) =170.3

WiiU system bandwidth 12.8GBs (eDRAM bandwidth 70.4 GBs) = 83.2

why are you using the number Forth Storm threw out  in theory? we  dont have any solid real world number for the wii U eDram which could be much faster..

#231509 wiiu's power

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 14 July 2013 - 11:49 AM in Wii U Hardware

because that is the spec on wiki & it has been for sometime now.

if this is very far from the true spec then why hasn't Nintendo came out with the actual specs, why are they not doing this when the confusion is destroying the WiiU, Nintendo are shooting themselves in the foot basically.

Nintendo never does. Besides,  Fourth storm said that  number  in proposition without anything to back it up. THen  people latched on and  put it on the Wiki. Anyone can  edit a Wiki by the way. Point it out and then find its citation, if none exists remove it.

#243391 Wii U Summer/Fall Update

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 01 September 2013 - 05:38 AM in Wii U Hardware

How come Eshop harges so much for AC3? It's free on PS+.
Does it have extra content?

its not free its subsidized by a fee

as for the eshop version, prices are set by publishers.

#243400 Wii U Summer/Fall Update

Ok so I pay fourty quid a year for the service, but the service offers lots of free games, hence why I asked if the WiiU version had extra content due to high price of the game and higher spec console than the PS3.

like i said, you subsidize the games with that fee, and publishers set the price point on the eshop.

they are not free.

#228254 Wii u Pro Controller battery in a gamepad?

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 02 July 2013 - 10:39 AM in Wii U Hardware

They have made a addon for the gamepad to make it last longer, but not 80 hours long. Not too sure what makes the gamepad so battery hungry, it does what a regular tablet does but lasts a LOT shorter,

most tablets  have a much bigger battry which takes up their bulk weight and are generally not replaceable.

#236828 Wii U Has Sold 1 Million Units in Japan

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 03 August 2013 - 06:46 AM in Wii U Hardware

to beat the ps3 in japan  in terms of sales in both consoles lifetimes, it must get around 10 million units. A very easy to reach goal, which i see happening easily.

the problem is the rest of the world.

#220682 Wii U getting game DVR functionality?

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 12 June 2013 - 05:30 PM in E3 2013 Archive

Don't read too much into the camera icon, as that could simply state the camera mode the player is using. For example a "stationary" camera mode or one that allows it to be moved freely.

they already said there will be a "highlight reel" that can be  saved on to  a part of the game that you can watch  using miiverse.

#219727 Wii U getting game DVR functionality?

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 11 June 2013 - 12:50 PM in E3 2013 Archive

That's not DVR. Dvr would require the Wii U to have a video input.

That looks like the video sharing feature that was rumoured.

So you can make short recordings of you playing a game then upload that to miiverse

he said game dvr not tv dvr

but i think that those are accually demo's which record the game  logic and replay it  useing the console to render again

#231204 Wii U Firmware Update 3.1.0 is live

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 13 July 2013 - 12:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

The delays are because they're just trying to get it right the first time, and didn't anticipate the manpower needed for the Wii U.

ya, or they could do it like sony and their latest brickings.

#232461 Wii U and general audio questions.

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 17 July 2013 - 01:11 PM in Wii U Hardware

Hello.

I know that basis of my question might have been asked and answered countless of times, but...

I have started looking in to getting a surround sound system for my living room, and Wii U being the main attraction of that setup.

I already know, that I need an AV-amplifier/receiver that supports LPCM.

Been looking at amplifiers, and my retailer only has 3 amplifiers, all from Sony, that I think might fit the setup.

STR-DH540 (5.2), STR-DH730 (7.1) or STR-DH740 (7.2)

Here are the questions, I slept through the AV classes, so I'm kind of outside with audio stuff.

1. Is there any problem using 7.1 amplifier with devices, that only support 5.1 (Wii U)?

2. Is there noticeable difference between 5.1 and 7.1?

3. X.2 refers system having two subwoofers? Can I leave another one out on those X.2 amplifiers?

4. Is there any sense or noticeable difference in having two subwoofers (X.2)?

As these systems can get expensive, especially since my wife is pretty picky about the speakers shes willing to let in our living room,

I've been thinking of building my surround system by working my way from ground up from 2.0 to 5.1 to finally 7.1 for devices that support it.

5. Would that be possible?

6. After 2.0, if I go for it, would I gain anything by going with 3.0 and then 4.0 surround system on Wii U or with any device?

7. I have been thinking of getting that STR-DH730, should it work with Wii U?

8. Any other suitable amplifiers on the market I should look in to?

And last, since I have no idea what I'm doing here.

9. Any tips what I should try to invest in, and what I should avoid?

I'm sure I had a lot of other questions as well, but they kind of got lost while typing this.

Not looking for perfection here, but any tips from anyone with some experience with surround sound systems would be welcome.

1. 7.1 means it has 2 extra channels for side  speakers, they are not a version number,  a 7.1 channel amp can play 5.1 chennels.

2. no unless the amp  digitally  enhances to 7.1 using mafhs. Otherwise  its just 2 extra channels  which you need 2 extra speakers for with 0 difference

3. the .x number refers to the sub channel, there is generally no benefit of having 2 sub channels since the sub should blanket the area and cover all  speaker sounds besides maybe adding area or power, in this case placement becomes problematic as  subwoofers may end up fighting each other and causing dead areas or super strong  areas.

4. see 3

5. if you buy a 7.1 you can run 2.0 and build up speakers until you have 7.1, hell you can have 7.0 and buy a sub latter, but the sub really fills in gaps.

6  yes, you get channel sperration,  do not go from 3.0 - 4.0 go from 3.0 - 5.0 since the 3rd channel will become the center channel.

7. yes

8 I do not have enough money to test every sound system

#232871 Wii U and general audio questions.

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 18 July 2013 - 12:38 PM in Wii U Hardware

Thank you, that should help a lot.

Is there anything I should look out for, when buying speakers?

If I understood right, speakers have a power threshold.

I know that my colleagues fix (or rather scrap, since fixing is not worth it) subwoofers that has been burned because

they couldnt take the power.

Mostly those are car equipment.

I just want to avoid burning hundreds of euros worth of equipment.

you hve to make sure that the  home theater system can output the  right amount of power to the speaker, based on wattage i believe, I would not worry about it being too high you may need a speaker amp to raise the output.  Try to get all your speakers to have about the same model or wattage.

#235145 Wii U 3rd party ports.....

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 27 July 2013 - 12:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

I find it hard to believe that they were using 2 cores  when they did not get all 3 running. Its the same to code to make 3 run as it is to make 2 (minus the fact you have to tell it to run each core) unless they only told it to run  the first and second... seems  insane to me.

#242879 wii u ambassador program

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 29 August 2013 - 09:56 PM in Wii U Hardware

<p>Its been confirmed there will be no ambassador program. Come on people you all saw this coming so deal with it. I don't understand why everyone feels that they deserve something! why should nintendo be the ones giving free games every time they have a price drop! I think it was a mistake they gave those free games on 3DS because now everyone is a B!tch about not getting free things on WiiU. The amount of whining and complaining is getting old.&nbsp;<br />
<a href="http://mynintendonew...gram-for-wii-u/">http://mynintendonew...gram-for-wii-u/</a></p>

sorry to rain on your parade, but  since when do customer service reps count as a source of confirmation?

she used the word "no plans" because she had not been given anything to say otherwise.

no i am not saying it will happen nor am i saying it wont. Im saying its not confirmed until it comes from the top.

#225642 Why not have a 3d gamepad?

Posted by Cloud Windfoot Omega on 23 June 2013 - 08:15 PM in Wii U Hardware

The 3D in the 3DS is such a gimmick, and honestly the GamePad is turning out to be a gimmick as well. So I'd definitely say that would be a horrid idea.

the gamepad is not a gimmick, its sound technology and has been utilised as such. And as a game dev myself there is no way i can call it a gimmick.
