#218296 Xbox One price and release

Posted by wombateer on 10 June 2013 - 10:49 AM in E3 2013 Archive

I'll just stick with my Xbox 360 and Wii U for the time being. Oh and my OUYA (when it traps) for indie games. At £429, I would have to sell a kidney, a liver, and donate something special to the fertility labs to be able to buy one at launch.

#238495 Wonderful 101 is the reason to own a Wii U

Posted by wombateer on 11 August 2013 - 08:30 AM in Wii U Games and Software

There's going to be a thread like this every time a Wii U exclusive is released.

More than likely. :)

#238486 Wonderful 101 is the reason to own a Wii U

Posted by wombateer on 11 August 2013 - 08:17 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I genuinely tried the demo yesterday evening and... it's not my cup of tea. There is a lot on the screen going on at once and I get myself lost in that. Also, there might be videos tutorial and stuff but I feel that the game should make an interactive training session, especially in the drawing segment of the game with "punching bag enmmies" (ennemies that doesn't budge or if they do, they don't attack) and then gradually introduce action. What I played is a game that drops you directly into action with very little to help you out: Use "something" (/reference) to attack! Then, the action grows more intense and then it says "you can draw figures!" when you are already overloaded with checking the gamepad and then the mainscreen trying to figure out what to do. Argh. Again, I like action games but not this kind and that's probably what make me suck very hard.

The graphics however are pretty darn good. The greatest surprise I had was: Japanese audio with English subs! Wiis dubs, all hail original audio and language! (says somebody that loves anime and used to watch them a lot)

On that, take my opinion with a grain of salt because I'm not in this kind of game. Maybe Pikmin may be more suited for me than W101.

I said this. (http://thewiiu.com/t...e-2#entry238061

It's not my cup of tea either. But I'm sure many do find it appealing, and although an appealing game to many. I don't think this game is a reason to own a Wii U, but it gives it that bit more credibility.

Tried it, and it's not my cup of tea. It's Splinter Cell for me, and possibly Sonic for now.

#238501 Wind Waker U Discussion

Posted by wombateer on 11 August 2013 - 08:36 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I sadly missed the first so i'm buying this . :)

Me too, because I went for PS2 and not a GC back in the day, and when I got a Wii (all the back catalogue games on my list I never got through.) And then I did the silliest of things. I gave the Wii to my nephew and became an Xbox 360 gamer.

So this time around, I'm there.

#239099 WiiU needs more games!

Posted by wombateer on 13 August 2013 - 10:20 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I own a WiiU but i think that it needs more games, even though games are coming out in 2014. Nintendo should work with more companies that work with Xbox and Sony systems to get games such as GTA 5 and snould get games like dishonered, The division in the fall and get more dlc for its games. Xbox and Sony are getting more dlc for games like COD BO2 like new levels such as the new nuketown and more dlc like the new pack. I think that but they should and games like battlefield and stuff.

The Division is planned for next year. (Towards the end of the year if I remember rightly?) You mention Battlefield here, and people go on an EA tirade. Not the fact it would really bolster Nintendo's library.

DLC, should be made available, but micro-transactions also kick up a fuss???

But yes, Nintendo needs a varied genre, hopefully this next year we will see things different, and more positive.

#236964 Wii U version of Splinter Cell Blacklist will lack offline co-operative play

I can see a patch sometime after launch. At's least it's online.

#216630 Wii U meta-rewards

Posted by wombateer on 06 June 2013 - 11:19 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Alright so I just read an article that stated Nintendo is thinking of implementing a reward system not unlike the Achievement system on Xbox or the trophy system on PS3 and was wondering if anyone else heard this rumour? The article stated that they will reveal this at E3 in a few weeks.

Also IF Nintendo actually does this would you hunt for them?

I would intensely hunt for them hoping to stay in the top 100 worldwide

Do you have a link to the article?

#237784 Who buys a Nintendo console for third party multiplats, anyways?

Posted by wombateer on 08 August 2013 - 07:49 AM in Wii U Hardware

I just thought I should ask this.

I'm looking at the whining that the Wii U won't be getting games like Call of duty and such and I realized: I personally don't care.

My Wii collection is:

Spoiler

Blue are exclusive third parties, red are multiplatform. The only multiplatform I like is Sonic Unleashed.

I'd be perfectly happy with just Nintendo games. I did have an Xbox, but I found I didn't really care for any of the games available.

What about you?

But the Wii U is getting Call of Duty.

#238002 Who buys a Nintendo console for third party multiplats, anyways?

Posted by wombateer on 09 August 2013 - 03:31 AM in Wii U Hardware

Nintendo needs those mainstream 3rd party games, that's all.

Good versions of NBA, COD, GTA, MADDEN, FIFA, and BATTLEFIELD might help

If COD does well this year on Wii U, it might give Activision incentive to bring Destiny to Wii U, and I would love to see BF4 on Wii U and see what the GamePad brings in commander mode.

#232083 What makes a hardcore gamer?

Posted by wombateer on 16 July 2013 - 11:31 AM in Wii U Hardware

Practice, and not going out to play in the sunshine, (when it sunshines in the UK) but opting to stay inside and get a few more headshots instead. :)

#237333 What can Nintendo do to fix their relations with third-party developers?

Posted by wombateer on 06 August 2013 - 03:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Hopefully games like Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs, COD Ghosts and Skylanders sell enough copies for other 3rd party developers to see (it's worth investing some time and money into the WII U.)

The 3rd party games coming up are the make or break time for Wii U 3rd party support. It's just a pity, the games coming up are lacking some features, but you never know, patch or two may follow.

If the moneys there, they will come back that simple, if not, they will make up any kind of excuse. That's how I see it anyway.

#235745 The Wii U can run Unity 4

Is there a list of what Unity powered games are coming to Wii U?

#215363 Summer Update!

Posted by wombateer on 03 June 2013 - 09:54 PM in Wii U Hardware

An achievement/trophy/accomplishment system similar to those on Xbox Live and Steam. Cross-game chat would also be really cool.

Achievements from Nintendo 1st part games should come in the form of characters. For instance if it's a Mario game you are playing there is a Mario character to complete/build by completing challenges in the game. For each challenge completed (it gives you a piece) if you get all the pieces, then you are the proud owner of Mario a achievement/trophy .

Just a thought.

#239161 Shin’en Says They Are Working On Second Generation Wii U Engine

Posted by wombateer on 14 August 2013 - 08:35 AM in Wii U Hardware

If their (new) engine is the dogs dinner, maybe they should licence it out, to other potential Nintendo developers.

#239102 Shin’en Says They Are Working On Second Generation Wii U Engine

Posted by wombateer on 13 August 2013 - 10:28 PM in Wii U Hardware

Possibly they are building the Frostbite engine for Wii U, so that we can have all those lovely EA games, like Battlefront and Battlefield.

#233867 Shin'en Explains Wii U EDRAM Usage

Posted by wombateer on 21 July 2013 - 10:46 PM in Wii U Hardware

I know this might sound a real dumb question, I'm not a tech junkie at all, but with all these numbers being thrown around, what happens when Nintendo come along and refine the OS, and possibly unlock another 500 meg of RAM. Will developers need to re-write/patch software for that change? Do gaming engines like, re-calculate, automatically for more resources?
