#297227 BREAKING: "Full House" is coming back to TV! Original cast includ...

Posted by alex15810 on 28 August 2014 - 09:52 AM in The Café

Meh if it's like the old full house I won't watch it regularly but I'll definitely check out the first episode or two. If they actually make it more like a regular cable TV show where it isn't so squeaky clean I might watch.

I watched full house some when I was a kid but now if I try and watch an episode I can't get through it. Too brady bunch with over the top "life lessons". It just oozes cheese for me now...it's too clean, fake and family friendly. Not that I need a show to be ridden with curse words, violence, ect. I just need the show to feel real.

(cringes)

I never liked Full House.

haha I doubt they'd be interested. When was the last time they acted? They're both loaded with cash unlike other Full House alums so unless they're bored they probably won't be involved. Also I heard they weren't exactly close with other members of the cast.

#296930 What is your Top 3 or 5 favorite Wii U games?

Posted by alex15810 on 26 August 2014 - 06:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I guess I'll necro this thread.

After about 2 years of Wii U my top 5 games in terms of what I've gotten the most enjoyment out of is -

1. Zombi U

2. CoD: BO2

3. Orochi Warriors

4. DK: Tropical Freeze

5. Wii Fit U

For me Zombi U was the definition of what a great Wii U game should be. It might be the only game released that actually focuses on and harnesses the potential of the gamepad. Amazing immersive experience.

BO2 and Orochi Warriors are not exclusive but I've been so addicted to both - these are my stress reliever games.

DKTF was too short but very challenging and the prettiest platformer I've ever played.

Wii Fit U is great for burning off stress, I use it all the time on days I just want to burn off some energy but can't make it to the gym.

#296580 Co-Founder Of Sledgehammer Games Says Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare Won’t Be Com

I think all of you make good points that 3rd parties backed out. And they did, I'll give you that. But let me give you my 2 cents -

This whole awful domino effect in the end was Nintendo's fault. It's their job to make their console an attractive one for 3rd parties to develop games on, not vice versa. The 3rd parties are a business. If the console isn't profitable to develop or too risky to develop on then they have every right to take their developer hours to Sony and Microsoft.

Maybe Nintendo didn't directly cut off 3rd party support, but all of their dumb decisions like horrible marketing, horrendous year 1 game release schedule, flubbing the name of the console, making the console a challenge to develop on because of the decision not to make hardware competitive with Sony/Microsoft, ect. are all Nintendo's fault.

Maybe Nintendo doesn't deserve all the blame but they certainly deserve some if not most of it. Maybe 3rd parties gave up too soon but as I see it in the end it is mostly Nintendo's fault for not making the console attractive enough to 3rd parties.

#296511 Black ops II patch today? what was it for

Posted by alex15810 on 21 August 2014 - 06:05 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I really think it's time they address the intermittent game freezing (has occurred 10 times in 2 weeks)... this is the only game my Wii U has become unresponsive with...

Yep wish they would as well. The online freezes the console on a somewhat regular basis for me as well. Also wish they'd fix that annoying aim down sights bug on the snipers.

#296508 Co-Founder Of Sledgehammer Games Says Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare Won’t Be Com

Posted by alex15810 on 21 August 2014 - 05:30 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah I know all we get are gimped versions anyhow but it is like all these 3rd party publishers are trying to muscle Nintendo out of the hardware business.

I actually feel the opposite. I feel Nintendo is forcing me to go to Sony. I bought a Wii U shortly after launch planning for it to be the only system I owned...believing Nintendo when they said we'd get 3rd party support this gen. Now because of a few major screw ups on Nintendo's part, a seemingly lack of interest in marketing the Wii U or dedication in convincing 3rd parties to develop they've ran off 3rd party support. So now I'm being forced to spend an extra $400 on a second console. I do feel shafted, not gonna lie.

Nintendo's exclusives are second to none, no doubt. But they're all short games pretty much all of them are very beatable in 1-3 weeks. Less than a week if you really go on a gaming marathon. There's just not enough gameplay in the major 1st party nintendo games alone to allow me to stick with Nintendo exclusively unfortunately. And I'm not even a hardcore gamer. Some weeks I don't play at all. Most weeks I'm between 5-15 hours of play time.

I probably post more negative posts than most on this board and I try not to as I love Nintendo but I've just been so dissapointed by so many of Nintendo's bonehead moves this gen that it's hard not to be. Nintendo should be owning the industry right now, their 1st parties are heads above everyone elses. If they'd just get the 3rd party support it would be game over. Sony and Microsoft wouldn't have a chance.

OK /end rant.

#296506 Do Any Of You Use Your Wii U As A Portable?

Posted by alex15810 on 21 August 2014 - 05:12 AM in Wii U Hardware

Yes, I travel for my job and take it to hotels and play it all the time. Also doubles as a way for me to watch Netflix away from home.

Big letdown. I love the CoD games, I've spent 100s of hours on BO2 for Wii U. I was already considering getting a PS4 this fall this makes my decision easier.

I've been so letdown by the lack of 3rd party support. When I bought my Wii U shortly after launch I was expecting to get all these ports.

Not getting GTA 5 hurt badly, then it was not getting SP: Stick of Truth or a Zombi U sequel. Now we aren't even getting CoD games. What a huge dissapointment.

#296406 Some questions about the "controller's" backwards compatibility

Posted by alex15810 on 20 August 2014 - 07:49 AM in Wii U Hardware

Nope unfortunately the Wii U Pro and the Gamepad aren't really backwards compatable with anything.

I think you've gotta use Wii Mote / Wii Mote + nuchchuck or Wii Classic Controller for anything on the original Wii...games or shop games. A lot of the games are available on both Wii and Wii U shops now so if you only own on the Wii they let you upgrade to the Wii U for $1. Upgrading would allow you to use the gamepad. Probably not the Wii U pro however. I'm finding that many if not most eshop games are gamepad only.

I strongly doubt the new gamecube controllers will be backwards compatable. They'll probably be in line with Wii U Pro in terms of compatability.

#296297 LTTP but Blops2 for Wii u gets Nuketown 2025

Posted by alex15810 on 19 August 2014 - 07:35 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Meh, too bad I don't have this game anymore.

It's down to like $10-15 for a used copy now. There's still enough of a community to make it worth picking up. Definitely the best FPS available on the Wii U in my opinion.

#296208 Wii U audio but no picture upon startup

Posted by alex15810 on 18 August 2014 - 12:04 PM in Wii U Hardware

I have the opposite problem actually.

If my tv is not on, or on the appropriate input channel when I activate my wii u, I will get a video feed, but no sound.

I have to hit home and go to the suspend screen, and then push home again to get back into the game/app with sound.

Pretty sure mine is because Im using a hdmi to dvi with component audio though. (Dat old Sony Grand Wega, still a goodie!)

Well I'm using the standard HDMI cable included with the Wii U. I have tried everything I can think of. For the longest time I thought it was just my TV...but after having the same problem on many other TVs it definitely isn't.

#296206 Wii U audio but no picture upon startup

Posted by alex15810 on 18 August 2014 - 11:52 AM in Wii U Hardware

I've been having this problem with my Wii U for a while, was wondering if anyone had a solution. If I start up my Wii U, then flip to the appropriate HDMI channel on my TV I get Wii U audio but a black TV screen. However, if I at that point flip to the wrong HDMI channel then back to the appropriate HDMI channel the picture shows up.

This is incredibly annoying. Every time I play I have to start up my Wii U, flip from normal TV to HDMI input, flip to the wrong HDMI input, then flip back to the right HDMI input.

Also if I start up the Wii U while the correct HDMI channel is already selected and TV is already on it will boot fine.

I have this problem on most TVs. Not all but most.

This isn't a serious problem as there is a workaround but I can't stress how annoying it is. Anyone know how to fix it?

I've tried using all different HDMI inputs on my TV but no luck.

Also I meant to post this in the subforum, my fault.

#295651 MK8 Weird Mercedes-Benz DLC - Why does this exist?

Posted by alex15810 on 12 August 2014 - 11:11 AM in Wii U Games and Software

If the new Mercedes cars are OP as to encourage people to use their in game karts as virtual advertisments, I'm going to be ticked.

#295508 The Name Wii U is 'Abysmal,' Former Nintendo Indie Boss Says - IGN

Posted by alex15810 on 11 August 2014 - 05:41 AM in Wii U Hardware

No doubt the Wii U is a terrible name and contributed to the poor sales. Still to this day many people think it's a gamepad add on for the wii.

Nintendo definitely should have gone with a new name entirely and dropped the Wii moniker. Or at the minimum called it the Wii 2, atleast that way people would know that it's a different, newer console.

#295310 Gamepad query

Posted by alex15810 on 08 August 2014 - 05:39 AM in Wii U Hardware

Hi guys new to forum and wii u so wondering if anyone can help. Can I use a usb cable from my wii u USB port into my game pad, to charge and play longer than four hours lol

I don't think that will work. Pretty sure you can only charge it via the wall plug charger.

You have 3 options -

1) Use an extension cord and keep the charger plugged in while playing for those times when the battery gets low. You can charge the gamepad and play with it at the same time.

2) Buy and use another controller such as a Wii U Pro Controller - I highly recommend it, it has a huge battery life.

3) Buy an alternate battery for the gamepad

Good luck!

I play BO2 a lot on my Wii U and I have to say I was thrilled to get this. Sort of insulting to get it this late, but better than not getting it at all.

#295247 MK8 Update Incoming 8/27

I really hope the Mercedes vehicles aren't OP...I have zero interest in using them and don't want to feel forced to

#295159 Will smash bros be bad for Hyrule?

Posted by alex15810 on 06 August 2014 - 07:41 AM in Wii U Games and Software

It will probably have some impact. I agree very wierd release schedule. But overall i don't think it will make that big of a difference. Nintendo probably thinks it's better to get the game out ASAP than delay it just for the sake of spacing out their releases.

#295155 Mario Bros U how to save?

Posted by alex15810 on 06 August 2014 - 05:51 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah it's a little funky how the saving works. To get a reliable save you have to beat a castle or fortress. I believe ghost houses save as well. Quick save only works once so if you load it and then exit again without saving I believe you lose it. But it's better than prior mario games where bottom line you could only save after beating a boss.

#295153 MK8 Update Incoming 8/27

Posted by alex15810 on 06 August 2014 - 05:46 AM in Wii U Games and Software

SO excited for the on screen map!!! That's one feature that I've sorely missed from other MK games.

Happy about the stats as well.

In the future I'm hoping for actual battle arenas and more online unlockables/cosmetic kart colors and customizations

And changing the default selection to next race is a nice change. That's one bonehead mistake I can't believe the developers made. I can't tell you how many times I've accidently hit "view video highlights" as it is currently the default selection.

#295152 MK8 Weird Mercedes-Benz DLC - Why does this exist?

Posted by alex15810 on 06 August 2014 - 05:39 AM in Wii U Games and Software

This exists because Mercedes offered NIntendo money to advertise their cars in the game and Nintendo accepted. This is in game advertising disguised as DLC/bonus features - That's why it's free.

#295151 I need help with my gamepad.

Posted by alex15810 on 06 August 2014 - 05:35 AM in Wii U Hardware

 Ok I have good news. I did a test with my pro controller, i used it in cod and it worked well so i was 100% sure it was the gamepad. So i tried resync but it did nothing. So my last solution was to open and check inside the pad, i unplug and repluged the wite that conects the right analog to the motherboard and after putting it back togheter it fixed the problem, its even work better then ever! I did a last test and saw that my tv DOES have a slight lag, on the pad everything responded imidiatly. Thank you all so much for your help. I can say its a good first experience with being in a forum. Thank you alex and cranky kong!

Glad you fixed it! Although I think you should have sent it in for repairs instead of fixing it yourself because opening up the gamepad like that probably just voided your warranty. In any case glad you don't need it anyway. Hopefully you put the thing back together so nobody can tell it was opened...just in case you need to send it in for repair some time down the road.

#295060 Clarification required, potential sadness.

Posted by alex15810 on 05 August 2014 - 12:51 PM in Wii U Hardware

It would be cool to see dual gamepads. But from what I've heard the console really has frame rate problems supporting 2 of them. And as expensive as they are, almost nobody will spend money on an extra one so I wouldn't expect a dual gamepad feature to be supported in the future.

#295059 I need help with my gamepad.

Posted by alex15810 on 05 August 2014 - 12:44 PM in Wii U Hardware

Ok so 2 things i want to note. 1. i meant the right analog stick is having the big bug and 2, i tryed cod ghost and monster hunter, the problem is their, i bought this wii u at a best buy with 3 years warrenty for any situation. Oh! and i tried the off tv mode to see if it was just tv lag but no, its also on the  gamepad, im thinking its MOSTLY hardware problem. My tv isn't really old, hd, made by sharp and its LED i think, very good one.

Hmm sorry that's bad news. I have no idea what it is then. I think all you can do is call Nintendo customer service and see if they know what it is. Be as specific as you can about what's happening. If they can't help it looks like you'll have to send it in for repairs. I'm sure it's covered by the warranty - worst part is you'll be without your gamepad and maybe console for a while.

#295052 How long will Gamepad last, literally?

Posted by alex15810 on 05 August 2014 - 11:11 AM in Wii U Hardware

I"m not worried, Nintendo products are high quality.

My super nintendo's power supply just stopped working this year. Parents bought it for me soon after launch. Controllers still work fine...even through all the abuse my childhood put them through.

My ps1 controllers both still work. My ps2 controllers both died after about 8 years.

Wireless probably are more fragile but I'm sure they'll offer replacements in the future. What I'm hoping is they make the settings accessible via other controllers eventually so if the gamepad dies I won't be forced to replace it.
