#259810 *Throws an armchair* The Wii U is finish. (VGA SPOILERS)

Posted by Aiddon on 08 December 2013 - 10:28 AM in Wii U Games and Software

If VGX is so worthless why did the president of NOA even go??

The fact that he went seems to show that it's important. The fact that he showed Cranky seems to show that he or SOMEONE doesn't know why it's important.

To humor Keighley. Seriously, it was obvious he was only there as a favor to Keighley as the show was either irritating or boring and its ratings are abysmal. The show is the laughing stock of the industry, and the fact it was reduced from a television in a sizable theater to a live stream in a studio shows that even its own network doesn't care about it. Reggie was there because he's a pro, not because he thought the event was important. If anything, the next Nintendo Direct will have important announcements because it'll reach more viewers.

I'd like to share something I've been thinking about. What if Nintendo decided to announce Cranky at the VGX so it could be more discussed. I mean, where would DKC TF be more discussed from. A Nintendo Direct where it'll get overshadowed by bigger announcements (possibly X or Zelda U, the things that were being hyped for VGX), or an awards show in which it's the only thing discussed from Nintendo. Nintendo's very behind with the times (thus not knowing what's appropriate for a VGX announcement), and isn't too active with their fanbase. So from Nintendo's point of view, this announcement makes sense as it causes more discussion. And obviously the controversy around it not being what everyone wanted it to be was another factor in discussion (although I doubt Nintendo actually intended this). But honestly, people getting hyped for other things seen this coming. Cranky was leaked on Amazon, DKC TF was one of the playable games at that Reggie Twitter event on Thursday or so, and Nintendo can make confounding decisions (e3 2008).

Not to mention it's a good idea to simply keep expectations low for events like this or E3. Having the lowest expectations results in either the low standards met or exceeded. Sometimes it is hard to not get on the hype train (I was hoping for Parappa 3 and/or Crash 4 during the night of the PS4 launch, where it just ended up being a predictable Uncharted 4 announcement). For the record, in no way am I defending Nintendo for this decision. I think it's incredibly stupid and this should have been saved for a Nintendo Direct. Or at least had this alongside another VGX announcement. Nintendo needs to know better, know what the fans really want (rather than mild enjoyment out of seeing Cranky Kong playable), and know what's suitable for a VGX announcement. Thankfully they were fortunate enough to mess up on an already mediocre-horrible show that had some low viewer counts that was online only. I'm pretty sure it's not on TV until like Monday with a "Highlights of VGX" thing.

Also the VGXs were terrible. Unfunny jokes, outdated memes, that whole GTA5 music section was horrible (the rap and the guy who had this incredibly derpy singing voice), product placement (PRE ORDER THIEF AT GAMESTOP, BROUGHT TO YOU BY TEEN WOLF, BUY THIS MICROTRANSACTION CAR FOR GRAND TURISMO 6!!!!!), and the incredibly awkward acting. Also Smosh and PewDiePie, why, sweet jesus, why.

The thing is though, the VGAs are so worthless that there was no point in showing anything big. even before now the VGAs were considered pathetic and with how viewership for it has shrank, Nintendo was completely correct in giving a throwaway announcement. Wasting a big announcement on a pathetic event like the VGAs would be casting pearls before swine.

You Nintefan girls will defend anything they do. Nintendo had the opportunity to show MK8, Yoshi Yarn, FE X ST, X, a new Smash trailer, a new ANYTHING! But they decided to show us what they could of done in a mini Nintendo Direct. The VGA are the second biggest in games despite how awful they are.

Then that is truly pathetic because its viewership is abysmal. Nintendo Directs get more traffic than the VGAs do now. Heck, there might not even BE one next year with how awful this one was.

They have reasons for being secretive? It must be their amazing Wii U console sales that justify this secretive behavior....

Why do you feel the need to control how people feel? People are upset ....Get over it.

People aren't whining and complaining because they hate Nintendo, they are whining and complaining because they want Nintendo to succeed, and time after time Nintendo keeps missing opportunities to reach their full potential.

They had a chance tonight to walk out and say "We are Nintendo and this is what we do" and then show off some sick sizzle reel of 2014's Wii U games and then segue that into a Zelda U trailer.... But instead they show off sodding Scrooge McDuck and call it innovation.

They didn't waste anything big on a terrible awards show that is treated like a joke by the entire industry. For crying out loud, it's trending on Twitter, but only because 90% of said Tweets are MOCKING IT. Not a good rep to have.

Get over it. I wasn't expecting anything much. It was a little upsetting that they didn't announce something good, but it's nothing you all need to cry and Daisy about like you have been. Nintendo is a big company, you're all just people, people that don't have near as much knowledge as a big company does. Maybe Nintendo had a reason for keeping so secret, you don't know. Are you the person running the company?

That and it'd be a waste to make a big announcement at the VGAs. Seriously, they didn't attract much attention when they were on TV and I very much doubt THAT many people were watching the livestream. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Direct in the next few weeks that has better stuff to talk about.

Donkey Kong game of the year 2014.

You all need to stop crying, you've come to expect this sort of thing, haven't you?

Because it's not the internet without unrealistic expectations.

all this illustrates to me is that consumers are stupid. Very, very STUPID

#258514 Rubin: "Nintendo Is Irrelevant As A Hardware Manufacturer In The Console...

Posted by Aiddon on 01 December 2013 - 08:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

so basically another washed-up designer is throwing a tantrum since HIS IPs have been driven into the ground and Mario still continues to exist. Another day, another idiot mouthing off to the gaming press in order  to keep in the spotlight

#258506 Reggie: Why you should buy a Wii U this Holiday season.

Posted by Aiddon on 01 December 2013 - 06:05 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Common sense prevails once again

The difference is that Nintendo never heard the end of the unicorn tongue about games after Wii U's launch and now the PSBoners are acting like it's completely normal for a new console not to come out of the gate with a pile of must-have games.

No kidding, people gave Nintendo fans nothing but grief when it came to the Wii U but when Nintendo fans were able to fire back with the PS4 and XB1's typical launch lineups suddenly they cry "NO FAIR!"? It's these kind of double standards that make me completely disgusted with the current state of the industry

#258489 Reggie: Why you should buy a Wii U this Holiday season.

Posted by Aiddon on 01 December 2013 - 02:59 PM in Wii U Games and Software

He certainly was in a position to make such a claim and the critics show that he was right.

No kidding; can't exactly fault the guy when he turned out to be right in the end. When are people going to learn that mocking Nintendo and underestimating them is completely stupid?

#257521 VGX Awards: Nintendo may be appearing

Posted by Aiddon on 22 November 2013 - 09:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

They can't go there showing Yoshi's Epic Yarn or Kirby Triple Deluxe, it would have to be something that goes with that audience (the people tuning in for Uncharted and Metal Gear). They would have to show something like Zelda, Super Smash Bros, or Monolith Soft's X, Zelda would be the big one.

Aonuma wanted to show Zelda at E3, didn't get to show, wanted to show it at Comic Con, again didn't get to show it. I believe this will be the time.

We will probably get something similar to this then the full gameplay reveal at E3.

Oh please, the audience would whine about Zelda too. They're never gonna be pleased with a Nintendo title, so ya might as well just piss them off for a few giggles.

#257465 VGX Awards: Nintendo may be appearing

Posted by Aiddon on 22 November 2013 - 01:18 PM in Wii U Games and Software

just watch, it'll just be Reggie showing up on and then going "Trailers? Why exactly would we waste our time showing games that the demographic of this show HATES? We got better things to do." If there's one place any Nintendo franchise should NOT be premiered at it's VGX. The name ALONE is cringe worthy

#257275 Nintendo's biggest mistake with reviving Wii U

Posted by Aiddon on 21 November 2013 - 07:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

oh, whoop-dee-doo, ya mean FAMILIES might be a viable market? Considering the fact that Nintendo is the only one of the three console makers who Cares about selling things to families/kids thus expanding the market, I'm not gonna give them crap for it. Better than pandering to the fickle "hardcore" gamer that has proven unreliable

#256817 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by Aiddon on 18 November 2013 - 07:10 AM in Wii U Games and Software

ok so dont like "marketing" no commercial no talking about your games... what should they do?

simple, something constructive or a discussion that actually GOES somewhere. People trying to talk about marketing goes nowhere beyond whining and quite frankly it's just a miserable experience for everyone involved. It's pathetic and it's just a waste of time.

#256785 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 10:15 PM in Wii U Games and Software

when i say marketing i dont just mean commercials. HYPE your stuff get the consumers excited about the games. It really isnt that hard.

even talking about that is boring. People whining about it accomplishes NOTHING. There's no point to doing something that makes you miserable. It's why I swore off talking about it because it's just meaningless

#256777 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 09:27 PM in Wii U Games and Software

probably true but they need to do a better job at marketing especially their core titles are the ones they say are for "highly skilled" gamers like MK8, Zelda U, Bayo 2, X, Smash... they need to really hype those titles and they do a horrible job at doing this. i have to hype myself for most Nintendo games.

They'll do it when the time comes. Also, why the heck are people so obsessed with "marketing" when it is one of the most boring things in gaming. Talking about it can't even be called a discussion, it's just WHINING. It's just people wallowing in throwing out stuff like "advertising" and ultimately not accomplishing anything other than killing some time and making yourself miserable. It is why I will not take someone seriously when they throw out a term like "marketing." It's just dumb.

#256771 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 09:12 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I know like i said i am not a fan of the show and has never watched one... But it would be a GREAT opportunity for Nintendo to give shock value to everyone and say yeah we are here watch this zelda U trailer and let it melt your faces.... WE OUT!

Which is why they wouldn't do it. They have more respect for themselves and the medium than to acknowledge that show exists.

#256769 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 09:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Your thoughts on this 3dude? We know that Nintendo has come close twice to revealing the new Zelda for Wii U. they almost showed at E3 this year... and the recent comicon they was a rumor Aonuma almost showed it there. Would it not benefit Nintendo with all the negative press of Wii U and it spec/graphical ability to show the reveal with in game footage at the upcoming VGA awards? I am not a fan of the award show but it has become a big event and a lot of "so called" hardcore gamers pay attention to it. I think it would be the perfect time for a reval. We know thee game is far along enough to do it. Show in game footage that drops the jaws and leave the its on par with 7th gen crap WAY behind and walk away like BOSS.... thoughts?

Ugh, the VGAs, sorry, VGX (I hate myself for having to type that) is a cesspool. It's no wonder Nintendo doesn't get within a thousand miles of that crappy show.

#256765 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 07:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Don't know, don't care. If millions of people don't buy the system then big deal. Third parties aren't bringing their games? If all I'm missing is Battlefield, Madden, and the like then I don't really care. I quit caring about this console war BS a while back. Instead I'll just by the games I like and if either console eventually gets a library that I feel warrants the cash then I'll buy.

Which is why I've also sworn off anyone who mentions words such as "specs", "marketing", or "advertising." Unless you know what you're talking about with those topics (and practically no one who is on a videogame forum DOES) then please shut your mouth and quite embarrassing yourselves. It's just gotten so freaking tiring and BORING it's made me realize Nintendo have to be SAINTS to deal with people like these and not lose their minds.

#256756 If 3D World fails to boost sales, I'm going to start to worry...

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 06:16 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Third party developers will never work with nintendo, so there's no point being worried.
It is inevitable for Nintendo to not get third party games.

Indeed; their pathological hostility towards Nintendo has really gotten annoying and, in all honesty, a bit creepy. It's like they still believe the ghost of Yamauchi is haunting the place. At this point I've pretty much given up on Western pubs and devs like EA or 2K giving Nintendo a chance (seriously, if the 3DS's numbers can't sway them then nothing will) since it seems to kind of relationship they demand from Nintendo is not a healthy one. They don't want a relationship as equals, they demand they be allowed to be parasitic  to Nintendo. It's just gotten annoying and it's why I have no sympathy for 3rd parties.

#256731 Will the Wii U survive next-gen

In answer to the title: Yes. Quit asking.

They will never stop asking because drama is always more appealing to boring, dull stability

#256712 Very long rant about Nintendo.

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 03:47 PM in Wii U Games and Software

You missed the point entirely. This is about getting people who don't/have no interest in a Wii U to buy one. We need that 13 year old kid to buy consols to keep relevent this generation. Kids like Cod and dark stuff now, not colorful happy mario. ( Don't confuse Mario 64 with that though )

Also are you even talking about KIDS or Teenagers? two different demographs.

And those kids are idiots who will eventually grow out of that shallow bull. It happens, we ALL have that awkward, insecure phase and it is the most IRRITATING phase in any person's life. The sooner game makers stop pandering to that demographic, the better.

#256705 Will the Wii U survive next-gen

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 03:29 PM in Wii U Hardware

Step 1. Remove the incredibly long stick of defensive sony fanboy butthurt from yourself.

Step 2. Accept the fact that your precious PS4 is being outsold by incredibly large margins, by the inferior dead Nintendo Wii U/paperweight nonetheless.

Step 3. Take a step back and look objectively at the scenario we have before us; Christmas is around the corner, We have the PS4 (and most likely the Xbox One) sold out everywhere right before the holiday shopping. The Christmas shopping parent walks into the store and cant find either console, but she does see a reasonably priced Wii U along with a timely released Mario game.

Step 4. Watch Nintendo Profit and Iwata, Reggie and Miyamoto  skip all the way to the bank (Wizard of Oz style)

Step 5. Question your life's meaning and purpose for having to go onto a Nintendo fanboy website and rage about how a Sony console is better

Step 6. Reread this post so that it sinks in before you rage with a irrelevant sony fanboy rage post. (Once the cycle is repeated eight times continue on to step 7)

Step 7. Come to the realization that sales mean absolutely nothing in regards to which console is better in terms of enjoyment.

Step 8. Purchase the Mitch's Guide to a Better Life Handbook from amazon for 4 easy payments of $19.99

Well, that was pretty spicy. Seriously, I don't get why people get so defensive over the PS4 (well, except buyer's remorse and all that).

#256619 Will the Wii U survive next-gen

Posted by Aiddon on 17 November 2013 - 08:42 AM in Wii U Hardware

...really? We're doing this drama queen bs now, really? Using history, Nintendo is pretty much unkillable. Seriously, how may different times did people say stuff like this with the GC, the N64, the Wii, and Nintendo's entire handheld line, only to be proven false in the long run? No, the Wii U is not in any danger despite the launch hype of the PS4 and the XB1. So calm down
