#238821 Wonderful 101 is the reason to own a Wii U

Posted by Poptartboy on 12 August 2013 - 11:59 AM in Wii U Games and Software

It's an OPINION. You really need to learn to stop taking thing so literal and serious on a forum, especially where some might not share the same ideals as you. I think that this game is heavily overhyped. You don't. Am I questioning you or trying to attack me like you did to anyone person that disagreed with you? No I'm not. I'm simply responding to you. I'm not the only one that had problem with the touch controls. Users on IGN, GameFAQs, Gamespot, Serebii's forums, and NeoGAF also had problems. Stop it. Seriously. You argue cause you try, note the keyword "try" to countlessly win arguments like they are some kind of accomplishment. I'm entitled to post whatever I feel on the game, you don't like it? Too bad, suck it up and go back to debating meaninglessly about the specs of the Wii U. I'm done with you. I'm not the only who sees your counter-argument as incredibly not good.

Yes its definitely common sense. 3Dude definitely has the right to attack anyone who doesn't like The Wonderful 101 or fines a flaw in the game! Get out "clause?" That utterly ridiculous nonsense. I'm not trying to get out of nothing. I don't fear 3Dude nor am I afraid to debate with him. However, when you want to argue for hours upon hours about difficulties somebody found with the controls and they didn't like it, you obviously have issues to work out. Not every game is for everyone, he doesn't seem to comprehend that because die-hard love for Nintendo is too strong.

I'm pretty sure I was clear when I said "I found the line/circle drawing to be unresponsive"

The thing is, you're complaining about your opinion not being respected, yet don't seem to realise that telling people they are overhyping something is by definition telling them they are wrong.

You not liking it is as valid as 3Dude loving it, so how can you say someone really enjoying it is 'overhyping' it?

Posted by Poptartboy on 17 August 2013 - 05:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

there is no point in looking through rose tinted glasses all the time, though.

it seems that on here every game that come out on the WiiU is either the game that will save the WiiU or it's a game worth buying a WiiU for, there is no game worth buying a £200-300 console for.

nintendo promised so much with the WiiU & have simply not delivered.

my WiiU is not worth selling because nobody wants to buy them, when i have mentioned selling it to people i know they have said they either have a Wii, i tell them that it's a WiiU i have & they says whats the difference ?

No game worth buying the console for, yet you bought it? Funny.

I bought mine for Pikmin 3, and Rayman Legends. Pikmin 3 has already made it worth it.

You can sell on eBay you know.

He likes to complain about the Wii U (here and on Neogaf). :P

Oh I know, I just find it ridiculous. I understand wanting more games, but just constantly moaning on about everything gets old.

Either enjoy the Wii U or sell it and move on.

#239653 Wonderful 101 is the reason to own a Wii U

What about all the exclusives & third party games that won't be on the WiiU ?
There is no support for the WiiU & nobody seems to think it will improve.

Then buy those systems if you want to play those games.

As 3Dude said previously, there was a time when not all systems had exactly the same games.

I think the most ridiculous thing is that YOU bought the Wii U. No one forced you to. Why did you if you don't like anything on it? Why didn't you just get a PS4 instead?

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner with common sense!

The funny thing is, it seems 3Dude is the only one that actually does have any common sense.

Your actual quote said that anyone enjoying the game needed to stop hyping the game up because you'd played it and it wasn't that good.

3Dude has been completely reasonable, and not once has he said that anyone is wrong for not liking it. Read the thread back.

The funniest bit is bring up 'opinions', because that's the biggest get out clause going for talking nonsense.

#262320 Nintendo Direct 12/18 for Spring 2014 Wii U , 3DS

Posted by Poptartboy on 19 December 2013 - 09:34 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think generally ninty fans enjoy more japanese games than western games. So imo ninty should focus on securing japanese games rather than looking into more western style games.

Yeah exactly. If you are more excited for Madden or Fifa than Bravely Default then perhaps you have the wrong console.

I have Bravely Default and it's great so far.

Also I will say this about the direct. They showed DK, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros. That's 3 very high quality games. And we kind of expect to hear more about next year still.

If Wii U got the same multiplatform stuff as the other consoles there wouldn't even be a question of what Nintendo is bringing.

#262439 Nintendo Direct 12/18 for Spring 2014 Wii U , 3DS

Posted by Poptartboy on 20 December 2013 - 02:11 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I understand you, I wish we were getting more work done in third party titles, and getting games like the Crew, and NFS Rivals. But the Wii U can handle the games, the devs choose not to. The Wii U could be xbone powerful 50mil units, and it would still be in a sucky situation even if Nintendo payed out.

Lol why would you want that? Ninty still has the better games.

I agree hence me owning a Wii U :)

No sir never brought any console other than Nintendo. It is what it is. I am working on building a pc just for nba 2k series.

That's sounds like a good plan based on your other comments then.

#262422 Nintendo Direct 12/18 for Spring 2014 Wii U , 3DS

Nope i shouldnt have to go out and spend another 400 dollars for a game experience... That is on Nintendo hands.... they are doing this to a certain degree.

In an ideal world you wouldn't have to but unfortunately you do. Or you could have just gone with PS4 from the start.

#262415 Nintendo Direct 12/18 for Spring 2014 Wii U , 3DS

Posted by Poptartboy on 19 December 2013 - 11:36 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah actually i am equally excited about Nba2k series as any other games released as the quality and basketball simulation is unmatched best sport simulation available.... but guess what i cant play that on my Wii U because nintendo only focuses on japanese and you guys are backing their decision. Do you know how popular sports are in america? you cant judge me for that

I'm not judging you, I'm simply saying perhaps you would have been happier with another console. All I see you comment on here is how we need shooters, sports games, and graphics. There's nothing wrong with this I'm just saying that you can actually get all these things on an Xbox.

#242118 Who buys a Nintendo console for third party multiplats, anyways?

Posted by Poptartboy on 28 August 2013 - 01:53 AM in Wii U Hardware

The point is Nintendo was trying trying to build it cheap as possible but charging a premium price. They could have build a better box with less profit margin. But they cared not for the blight of the workingman.

All they care about is making just good enough Run the games they make and not worrying about what outside developers wanted. Sony did care and they will rock this gen.

This is nonsense, since a load of developers came out saying how great the Wii U was. Also with Wii U still selling at a loss how can that nonsense about profit be true?

Truth is the 3rd party situation is still down the lack of sales. If we all go crazy for Watch Dogs then Ubisoft will put a lot of effort into future Wii U games.

They were actually saying on this weeks Weekend Confirmed podcast that this gen has been the best one ever.

Given that the variety of games has narrowed hugely over the last 7 years I don't see how you can make that claim.

#262648 Assassin creed 4 is out on wii u if anybody noticed.

Posted by Poptartboy on 21 December 2013 - 09:32 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Got to be honest the frame rate is pretty slow on this. I just got the Wii U version in a sale, and it's a bit rough. It's probably ok if you are not used to the higher level graphics but it just looks slow. It's not so much slow down as I don't see it ever running smoothly, it just looks consistently slow. Not unplayable though.

Also the shadows are shockingly bad, and make it look worse than it would otherwise I think. When it's still it looks fantastic, but throw in awful shadows and slow frame rate and it doesn't look that good.

It certainly doesn't look like they prioritised performance at all after what they said about it.

#262681 Assassin creed 4 is out on wii u if anybody noticed.

Posted by Poptartboy on 21 December 2013 - 01:03 PM in Wii U Games and Software

It is slow. It runs at about half the frame rate of most other wii u games (or wii games... or nintendo games in general...) like pretty much every multiplat ps360 game I have. But we are specifically talking about dramatic performance slowdowns, like shown in the video... The likes of which ive never encountered so bad.

All ubisoft wii u games except zombi u have horribad shadows, as the wii u is basically emulating a 360 in their ports, whose code was designed to use only a meager 10Mb of edram, and use main mem for everything else, and thus take horrible samples whilst wii u has over 3x that on die... Anyways, we all know ubisoft didnt waste time or manpower on wii u ports, they simply give the system 360 code and let it trudge through unoptimized code.

What they did do, was add things like vsync, slightly higher res textures, and slightly better effects over ps360 versions. They didnt attempt to opimize performance in the slightest upon release, although they did patch it after release, which helped a little bit. Did your version get the patch yet?

Yes I got the patch, so not sure if it's worse before. As I said I'm not seeing slow down as in its running fine and then dropping, it's just consistently low. And not unplayably bad, just a little annoying, kind of like Lego Marvel in co-op...

Also some have said it's just Havanna so it could be better once I'm out of that area.

It's at least more consistent than AC3 was.

#256269 Assassin creed 4 is out on wii u if anybody noticed.

Posted by Poptartboy on 15 November 2013 - 12:32 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I can see a difference but nothing too great. I think I'll be pretty happy with the Wii U version.

I can definitely see a difference between Wii U and 360 as well which is good to see.

#260954 Assassin creed 4 is out on wii u if anybody noticed.

Posted by Poptartboy on 13 December 2013 - 01:49 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah it does appear that third party sales are worse this year then they were last year. AC IV and Ghosts have sold significantly less copies than their predecessors.

This is what it seemed like to me. It's a real shame for everyone that wanted to just own a Wii U. I would definitely have gone Wii U only if there was a decent number of good ports.

I'm pretty gutted things have gone so wrong for the system cos I think it's great. I wasn't anywhere near as into games last year before I got one.

Posted by Poptartboy on 21 December 2013 - 04:13 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Interestingly I got to the sailing section with all the weather effects and it looked really impressive. There was no slow down but the water and rain looked great.

It also looks a much better game in darker settings where the terrible shadows don't ruin everything quite as much.

#261044 My Opinion on Nintendo This Gen.(At the Moment)

Posted by Poptartboy on 14 December 2013 - 04:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

But Sony didn't to bring people in with Killzone because the dudebros were already there. It's a different situation. It's not gonna be like nintendo makes aweseom shooter and suddenly all the dudebros are all "I totally respect nintendo now, and am going to buy a wii u to play this game." because in case you haven't noticed, most dudebros
are
complete
idiots.
They're too busy trying to impress their friends with manly they are by buying COD and how their 13 year old dicks have totally grown half a millimeter. They already have their notions about Nintendo, and trying to get them to come to Nintendo is a waste of their money, especially since last gen they had a system the dudebros hated, but still had the best console sales.

Exactly. If people haven't noticed a lot of people are still buying 3DS, Nintendo just needs more games for Wii U. There are not enough still, and it's a combination of games that will save the system.

#261102 My Opinion on Nintendo This Gen.(At the Moment)

Posted by Poptartboy on 14 December 2013 - 01:35 PM in Wii U Hardware

It would be, since it was Nintendo's future handheld console.
Well, the price reflected the extra year of development time didn't it, sure it has more power, but it has nothing original and fun on it, making it mostly pointless for handheld gaming.
You expected the 3DS, the successor to the DS to be something else?
You can not future proof anything, especially in technology. They made a box they could afford and which could provide better looking and better performing games to enjoy, and sell.

Is it top-tier pricing?
PS4 is 600 or 500 of some peoples American dollars isn't it?
I'd consider that the top-tier, or should I say xbox 1, since it's 100 more.
Coming in at 350 for the 32GB model isn't much of a top-tier price imo.
Is it a bad thing to comprehend a low storage console? From day 1 you could plug in a hard drive, can any other current generation console do this?
What, on the Wii U [b]requires[/b[ you to have more than 32GB of space to play a game? Now look at the current generation competitors, requiring installs on the disk, which could be why they choose the include cheap, slow physical hard drives inside their consoles instead of more expensive, much smaller flash memory.
The difference here is that Mario gameplay relies on the level design, so creating 100+ new levels every year in 2D, 2.5D, 3D, takes more effort and is more in tune withe what the base game is about, than a new 2 hours story which most CoD players don't even play every year, and instead are forced to move onto the next year by server shutdown threats and forced to buy DLC on top of the base game if they want to play with more players as the games release maps become stale and void of players.
Of course I'm highlighting the things like server shutdown threats and lack of players forcing DLC buying, but it does happen to a certain extent.
Mario, instead of releasing a new story on a 10 year old engine, features new mechanics, new graphical approaches, and new platforming levels to the platformer with every itteration.
Also I want to point out that Iwata has been flooding us with Mario since the 3DS, ONLY. Before Iwata used Mario to breathe life back into the 3DS, we only got 1 2D Mario if we were lucky per generation, and 1 3D Mario in the same time, and 1 handheld Mario. Now we seem to be getting 2 Mario platformers every year, which I'm sure will absolutely destroy the franchise beyond repair. I wish they'd use DLC to mitigate this as I like the franchise a lot, and would hate for it to become unprofitable and disappear like Metroid and Star Fox before it.

One of them has to be less powerful than another in every generation of hardware.
Expectations indeed.
Why do you only care about Wii U graphics then?

They know what to do in the short term. release more Mario.
There are long term problems with that, I alluded to one of the worst above, where Mario becomes unprofitable.
Because those games didn't sell well and have been retired.
They tried a revival as a test perhaps with Kid Icarus on the 3DS, which did not do well.
The controls are awful, so they really should try again, but they don't see it that way is my guess. They took a shot, it was a risk, and it didn't pay off at all.
As to why they have a drought, because it's new hardware. They released it early to drive initial internet connectivity, as a part of their strategy.
They want everyone on Wii U online, the best way to do that is to have an update only downloadable from the console to enable certain features.
If they waited until they had several huge first party games for launch, they would be without the income from NSMBU, Pikmin 3, etc. while the Wii bleeds to death, and the 3DS is their only income, with people asking, "What are they working on?" for 2 years while creating the games they're working on right now for release late this year, and in 2015 like Zeldou and X.
Basically, games take time to make.

That is always the plan at Nintendo.
Iwata will have to answer to share holders eventually. He can't keep saying "1 game next year! 9 million units!", he has to have some results soon or they will have zero confidence in him.
Hopefully, they stay away from iOS and Android development no matter what.

It's just your opinion, a lot of people hide behind that nowadays thinking it lets them say whatever they want without having to back up their opinion.
And people love to say they love Nintendo, but... something about them being doomed and how they hate Nintendo. I find it strange.

You have posted more than the allowed number of quoted blocks of text
^lol

You are so spot on about people saying they love Nintendo and then ranting.

I have been happier with the Wii U this year than I have any other console for the last 5-6 years.

I know exactly what you mean about Assassins Creed 4. I'm really trying to just mess about in the world for once, as I never feel like I can do anything, I constantly feel like I always need to so the next objective when I play open world games.

Yesterday I played for 2 hours and only did one mission as I was just sailing about for ages battling ships and taking their cargo, and reducing my wanted level. It's just such an interesting game, and it makes me even more excited for Watch Dogs.

I've played several launch games now aside from AC4, and had quite a good time with them.

Love Zoo Tycoon, and can't imagine how tiny the zoo would have to be on the 360 version. The kinect stuff is quite cool, and it's good to see them launch with a more family friendly game.

I hate Dead Rising, as the controls felt horrible to me, and the first boss was so annoying I immediately gave up on it.

Ryse is better in my opinion, and the best graphics I've seen so far. Gameplay is pretty fun but hugely repetitive.

Killer Instinct is good but I'm terrible at it.

And finally Forza 5, which I'm kind of torn on. It's really great for actual racing but it takes ages to level up and gain money for cars, and there's the oh so convenient 'pay really money for everything' button in so many places. It's really utter BS and makes the game feel more like a free to play game you had to pay loads of money for.

Really good so far though, and it's definitely good to be a Wii U owner and not have to worry about 3rd party stuff anymore.

#263387 Give your impressions on Xbone and PS4 games here

Posted by Poptartboy on 25 December 2013 - 02:25 PM in General Gaming

I've never liked the Xbox controllers and the Xbox One controller is no different. I find them too bulky with the left analogue stick in the wrong place and the buttons too stiff. The PS4 controller is far more comfortable in my opinion and one of the reasons why the Playstation consoles have always been my primary ones.

I held a PS4 controller the other week and it's a massive improvement. I much prefer the analogue placement of Xbox though, but the general shape of the grips is much more comfortable than it was on PS3.
