I'm SailtheSeas and I have been a Wii U gamer since July! I love the Wii U, it's an amazing console, I'm delighted I bought it and I look forward to posting on this forum.

I may well pick this up in the January sales.

My friend recently bought a PS4 and he invited me to play on it and to be honest I wasn't overally impressed with it.

The console is nice looking, it doesn't seem to make much noise, it's smaller then I thought it was going to be, the interface is a lot better than the PS3, as for the games? I played FIFA 14 and I honestly couldn't see that much of a gulf in class between the PS3 and the PS4 versions. There were a few noticable changes, but none that would make me want to rush out and purchase a PS4. I played KillZone Shadow Fall and that was just boring experience, the online multiplayer just didn't interest me at all. NFS Rivals reminds me of Hot Pursuit with better graphics, I wasn't impressed with any of the games that I played.

The PS4 just doesn't have any games that interest me and to be honest I'm more than happy with my 3DS XL and Wii U.

Having the best Hardware on the market is irrelevant to me, having the best graphics is irrelevant to me, if these two things really mattered to me I wouldn't be playing games via my Wii U or 3DS XL, I'd have invested in a gaming PC.

It's the games that matter to me and nobody makes games quite like Nintendo. That said I do agree Nintendo will need to start releasing better hardware and preferably hardware that is in line with what is being released by their competitors and they'll need to try and get more third party support for their consoles because a part from Warner Brothers, Fusion games, Activision and Ubisoft, third party games aren't coming in thick and fast like they will on the XB1 and PS4.

well as a launch title i thought zombieu was really good - that's where i got my name from. ubi has done some good things for wii u so far. 

The question is will they release anymore games on the Wii U after Watchdogs comes out?

Will they give us a zombie U sequel????? I just dont have any respect for these third party companies. they chase the dollar too much. The harsh reality is Nintendo is not looked at as a priority for 3rd parties. I can guarantee you if Wii U was selling like hot cackes it still wouldnt be getting the 3rd party support owners would want.

It does seem to be that way which is sad, as I own as many third party titles as I do first party titles. It does seem that Nintendo gamers aren't too keen on third party titles, apart from Zombi U which was a bundle, Lego City Undercover and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate by the looks of things.

I still think that the Wii U will sell more units than the GC and N64. Call me delusional if you will, but I think it will be fine. 

Somebody had to say it.  Third party support is going to get rainbowty.  Pathetic software sales of this years ports doom any chance of better third party support next year.  Wii U is an exclusive console 100%.

Yeah it does appear that third party sales are worse this year then they were last year. AC IV and Ghosts have sold significantly less copies than their predecessors. 

This is what it seemed like to me. It's a real shame for everyone that wanted to just own a Wii U. I would definitely have gone Wii U only if there was a decent number of good ports.

I'm pretty gutted things have gone so wrong for the system cos I think it's great. I wasn't anywhere near as into games last year before I got one.

I will continue to own a Wii U as my only console (3DS XL excluded) as long as Activision and Ubisoft continue to support the Wii U then I will continue to plug with the Wii U only. If those two pull out or only offer Just Dance and Skylanders then I will have to seriously contemplate getting either an Xbox One or PS4 at some point in 2015. 

The Xbox One looks like a fantastic system. 

If you want high-end graphics and you want the best possible hardware which you can boast about to your friends about then why would you buy either the PS4 or the Xbox One? Wouldn't it be better to either build your own gaming PC or wait for the Steam Machine to come out if you don't want to sit at a desk? 

Call me close-minded, but that's just how I see it.

Sony first party titles are terribly overrated.

There's a lot of complaints about a lack of third party support on the Wii U and just take a look at the sales figures for third party games on the Wii U. They're pretty abysmal and not every third party game is gimped on the Wii U. 

AC IV Black Flag isn't gimped and it has only sold around 80,000 units since its release. Ghosts isn't gimped and has sold around 70,000. That's pretty poor out of an install base of 4.5 million gamers. 

I don't blame third party support for wanting nothing to do with Nintendo consoles because third party games don't sell on Nintendo systems, irrespective of whether or not they are gimped. 

The Wonderful 101 is an exceptional game, it's a throw back game to a by-gone era, it's so much fun and hasn't even sold 100,000 units. It seems as though if a Nintendo game doesn't feature Mario or Zelda then it's not going to sell. 

I'll be surprised if Ubisoft port over anymore AC games and I'll be surprised if Activision continue to publish Call of Duty on the Wii U. I think third party support in 2014 will be virtually non-existent on the Wii U and if that happens, then I'll have to purchase a PS4 or Xbox One. 

and it begins..... i can see 2014 Wii U getting no big third party games. The reality is you cant blame third party publishers there games are NOT selling on Wii U... not even a little bit. Lego games, Disney infinity next game, and skylanders.... thats all she wrote.

As much as it pains me to say this, I agree with you. I doubt we'll be getting anymore games from Ubisoft apart from Just Dance games, though I still expect Activision to put Call of Duty games on the Wii U.

I think even COD is done. I do think the sales for Wii U is picking up so some may have no choice.... i was watching nba2k14 vids on youtube crying inside.... thats all i want next year is 2k15. If i dont get 2k15 i dont want anything else.

Well I think us Nintendo gamers are to blame for a lack of third party support, we're just not buying third party games in large enough numbers for third party developers to consider our platform a profitable format.

I do hope we get Call of Duty games on the Wii U, not because I'm a massive fan of the series, it's gotten stale but because we need more games on the Wii U, not less. But I am disappointed that AC games probably won't be coming out on the Wii U.

Now Sega-Sammy owns Atlus, why doesn't Nintendo use its friendship with Sega to get Sega and Nintendo to collaborate on bringing Skies of Arcadia to the Wii U?

I think its part us and part the developer/publishers. Lets take the NBA2k13 port for Wii U that came out with the console. It was a mess! They didnt even have the clothes physics for the game.I would rather them wait a year and give us 2k14 which just came out two months ago and make it proper instead of rushed port. So they blame us for not buying a crappy rushed port... there has to be some give and take in the situation. Can you not look at the product you put out and see damn we could have done better lets give them another chance with a decent port next year.

I agree as well I didn't buy Splinter Cell Black List for the very reasons you describe. It was a broken mess and it was gimped. Which is a shame as I would have bought it had it not been a rushed port. I'm delighted to say that AC IV is a very good port, I can tell the time and effort went into the Wii U version which is a shame that it hasn't sold as well as I think it should have done.

My worry is that these figures will start tailing off around mid-January and probably won't see a spike until MK8 comes out.

EA have said that they have no plans to bring any games out on the Wii U.

I'll be getting Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and if Project CARS is released in 2014, I'll probably get that too.

Also I'm seriously contemplating buying my first ever Xbox with the Xbox One as I really want to play Forza Motorsport 5, Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break.
