#263761 wanting to love it, but......

Posted by Akazury on 28 December 2013 - 07:43 AM in Introduction Central

I think your WiiU and apps are might be slow because you haven't been able to update yet? Almost all of nintendo's servers were down over Christmas because of high demand (by new WiiU users). Have you updated yet? For the other things there kinda isn't an solution. I'm afraid most things takes some getting used to.

No I'm afraid not, it doesn't interest me and I've got my eye on Sonic Lost World instead which I will probably pick up in the Spring alongside Mario Kart 8.

I got Sonic Lost World for christmas, I love the game. I really don't get why some of the reviews were so bad. You'll have a blast with it.

The main complaint seems to be the controls, yet if like everything else it takes time to learn and adjust, so I won't let that put me off. I played the demo and thoroughly enjoyed the level. Another complaint is that it's a Mario Galaxy "rip-off" and I couldn't disagree more.

My only complaint is that it's a bit glitchy sometimes. I got stuck inside enemy's and between a spring and a wall. Besides that it's like you said, learning and adjusting,

#264442 Hello, I'm the Doctor

Posted by Akazury on 02 January 2014 - 01:01 PM in Introduction Central

So I've been on the forum for a couple of days now and thought introductions would be in order. ]

First of all my screenname aswell as my NNID is Akazury, I'm an eighteen yo student from The Netherlands. I've picked up my WiiU (MHU3 Deluxe Edition) last april and loved it ever since. Over the past year I've build up myself a small library with first and third party games ranging from survival to party games. The WiiU is the first console I bought entirely for myself, it put me in a position in which I can enjoy games like Batman and AC aswell as Pikmin and Mario.

My favourite game I've gotten must be Pikmin 3. I've never played it before but the little fellows, they grew on me. I feel it's a tad short but I've been keeping myself busy trying to get gold and platinum on the Collect Treasure Missions. Something I've really been enjoying ever since Nintendo started rolling out DLC, the first I ever bought xD. Futhermore the games I'm looking forward the most in 2014 are Bayonetta 2 and SSB, both will be the first I'll play in the series. After that Watch Dogs is high on my list, it gives me that modern/high tech GTA feeling (on the U).

So this has been me, hopefully I didn't bore you to death ;)

#264461 Batman: Arkham Announcement Coming New Year's Eve

Posted by Akazury on 02 January 2014 - 03:22 PM in General Gaming

Played origins for a couple of hours now. Look we all knew it was gonna be more of the same, which would have been good if they didn't strip away all the gamepad features. No more hacking via the gamepad, no more database. Everything went top screen. /endrage Besides that it's a great game.

#264549 New Year Resolutions

Posted by Akazury on 03 January 2014 - 05:00 AM in The Café

I don't do New Years resolutions, they just don't work. Instead I set goals, things I wanna do or start by the end of the year. Some will never happen (relation) and some require resources (money for driving lessons) but it'll always give me a general idea of what I wanna achieve this year.

#264551 Origin of your username

Posted by Akazury on 03 January 2014 - 05:06 AM in The Café

Before Akazury I always used abbreviations of my name. When I started playing WoW I needed a good name I could connect with. Reading through one of the guides I got with the battle chest I came across aka which stands for Also Known As. For the zury part I don't have a clue, in a way it just fitted naturally. Ever since then my username has been Akazury.

#264912 Should I upgrade to 3ds XL?

Posted by Akazury on 06 January 2014 - 02:32 AM in General Gaming

Who actually plays this thing in 3D and still gets headaches?

It never cramped my hands, it has no hinge and looks like a kid's toy, honestly, who would buy a 2DS over a 3DS?

Parents. The 2Ds is specifically designed for kids. It's cheaper, no 3D so parents don't need to worry and because it has no hinges and is made of sturdier plastic it is a lot more durable. So yes it's a kid's toy.

#266231 What's Your Favorite Pokemon Game?

Posted by Akazury on 12 January 2014 - 09:59 PM in General Gaming

3rd gen and Emerald in paticular as it was my first Pokémon game. However the game I stuck the most of my time in was Leafgreen, getting all the legendaries, getting to all the islands and completing the pokedex.

#267393 The official "What games should I get?" Thread

Posted by Akazury on 19 January 2014 - 03:29 AM in Wii U Games and Software

So, hi there, I've had my Wii U since launch, and I'm kind of disappointed with the games I own for it. NSMBU, Nintendo Land, Pokemon Rumble U, and WWHD (my third favourite game ever)... those are the titles I own. Of those, one is an amazing game, and it has already been released on Gamecube, so, yeah. I've got a lot of VC titles that I love, but I need to spend more time on my Wii U. So here are a few games I'm interested in:

-Super Mario 3D World

-Scribblenauts: Unlimited

-ZombiU

-Pikmin 3

Do you think any of these games would be enjoyed by a fan (myself) of Zelda, Mega Man, Pokemon, Castlevania, and Mario? I've never played a Pikmin, Scribblenauts, or ZombiU game, and I'm a little unsure of 3D World. I'm getting a little sick of the NSMB games, and 3D Land, while good, felt like a 3D version of an NSMB game... is 3D World this way? Should I expect Sunshine standars, or just yet another modern Mario blend-in-with-the-rest-fest?

I'd never played a Pikmin game before either but I absolutley loved it. The story isn't hard to follow as it is a stand alone and not a sequel to Pikmin (2) and the gameplay elements get introduced at a nice pace. If you aren't sure look up some gameplay on youtube. Besides all that it has a lot of replay value, you have mission mode in which you do timed challenges either solo or co-op, bingo battle is the multiplayer mode were you try to get a bingo while trying to block your friend. And best of all Nintendo releases DLC packs, personally i'd skip the first ones and get the ones with the all new area's.

ZombiU is a game I haven't finished yet. I like it, the feeling that something is watching you, following you just gives me the creeps. It uses the Gamepad a lot but that's what the game was designed for. Honestly I had the most fun with the multiplayer, not knowing which troops my brother sends at me. Changing tactics, going in and stop his zombies from capturing the flag or capturing one myself. If you want to find out if you like it, why not get the demo. It gives quite a good representation off the whole game.

#267394 CoD: Black Ops II or CoD: Ghosts

Posted by Akazury on 19 January 2014 - 03:54 AM in Wii U Games and Software

So simply question. I've never played a CoD before and was thinking about picking one up, I only have the WiiU so keep that in mind. Which would you recommend and why?

#267424 CoD: Black Ops II or CoD: Ghosts

Posted by Akazury on 19 January 2014 - 10:10 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Why ruin a perfect record?

I don't get it :S

I would say Blops 2. In my opinion Blops 2 is overall superior to ghosts. On the other hand the online is probable dead on blops 2 so not much choice there.....

Overall superior is a bit empty, could you explain yourself a bit?

#267439 CoD: Black Ops II or CoD: Ghosts

Posted by Akazury on 19 January 2014 - 12:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Okay, that I got. Well it isn't like there is another shooter like for example battlefield on the WiiU so I'm bound to settle. Besides that I'd like to expierence why so many/certain people like it so I'm willing to try.

#267467 CoD: Black Ops II or CoD: Ghosts

Posted by Akazury on 19 January 2014 - 01:45 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Okay so I did a bit off inventory before going to bed;

Ghosts

Singleplayer

  • Better Story
  • Extinction mode

Multiplayer

  • Bigger maps -> Slower paced (Pjsprojects)
  • Fast pace (Dr. Legendaddy)
  • Better online/game modes
  • Less health (?)
  • (More/lots of people online)

Black Ops II

Singleplayer

  • Better/Longer Campaign

Multiplayer

  • Smaller maps (hectic)
  • Balanced/fair/rewards skilled players
  • Competitve
  • (Dead Online)

All round better and less glitchy

Any additions I'll see in the morning.

#267776 Your Take: An Ad Subsidized Console and Games

Posted by Akazury on 21 January 2014 - 02:10 AM in Wii U Hardware

I've slept on it a night but I have to say that if this was the case I wouldn't bother with Nintendo anymore. When I buy a console or a game I don't want to be limited in my activities. I don't want an 'incomplete' console for €99 and then having to pay another €200 just so I can play normally, the same with games.

The ad thing works, but it works on mobiles and why. On my iPad I don't mind ads during my play session, as it is only 5-10 minutes long. Because these are so short I don't bother with getting the full game as the ads are just there in the bottom and don't intterupt my game. An console is designed for long play session, this would mean that during my 4 hour play session I would get in total 12 ads of 30s to a minute long. Not only does it break your sense of emerging but that wait time is also deadly in multiplayergames like CoD. I'd get increasingly annoyed up to the point I'd drop the system and I think most of the (cassual)gamers would feel the same.

#267779 CoD: Black Ops II or CoD: Ghosts

Posted by Akazury on 21 January 2014 - 02:20 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think I'll be going for Ghosts. I've taken all of your opinions in consideration and seeying as I first of all be playing Singleplayer before anything else I feel that Ghosts is the better way to go. And I figure that the heavy glitches etc. will be fixed in a patch.

Thx everybody

#267797 New in the Nintendo World !

Posted by Akazury on 21 January 2014 - 03:31 AM in Introduction Central

I like it, given I get frustrated and start yelling at the scream. But the more you play the better you get and I really think you'd make a really fun to watch let's play. And the fact to you are a Machinima partner and have a following of PS Gamers means you can actually show the fun and good of the U.
