Mod(s) - Sorry about creating this semi-duplicate thread. Thanks for merging them together as one. :)

#187294 Don't believe the trash. Walking Dead is a good game.

Posted by nothinglost on 28 March 2013 - 09:11 AM in Wii U Games and Software

^^^ Like i've said many times before..... Just because someone else thinks a game is "bad" doesn't mean that someone else won't think the game is "good" or "great" even.

I personally LOVE WD: Survival Instinct.

The graphics aren't the best but they certainly aren't nearly as bad as critics and grumpy teenagers are saying online.

Most importantly, the game plays very smooth and there aren't any frame rate drop issues or screen tearing or anything like that. It looks just the way that Terminal Reality intended it to look. Which to me looks pretty darn good.

My only suggestion to you is that give it a chance by playing it first hand and then you can either bash it or praise it.

Pick up a copy for rental via GameFly or Redbox and check it out.

* Not trying to start an argument here. Just sticking up for the game because it's getting so much bad press and the only thing that is selling it are the people who actually bought it and are now defending it. ;)

Nintendo Web Framework

The Nintendo Web Framework is a development environment based on WebKit technologies, supporting application development on the Wii U system using HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS. It also supports the Wii U GamePad controller, Wii Remote controllers, and JavaScript extensions such as video playback. With the Nintendo Web Framework, development times will be reduced and Wii U applications can be easily developed using common Web technologies. Combining the handy Wii U GamePad, the TV screen, and the Internet, the potential exists for the services and games you are developing to progress by leaps and bounds.

https://gdc2013.nintendo.com/

For more information on Nintendo Web Framework, please attend theNintendo Wii U Application session at GDC .

NWF_logo_RGB_fix.png

Basically what this means is that Nintendo is setting up the eShop & Online Community for ALL Developers to be able to create Web Apps, Games etc. for Wii U very easily and very inexpensive.

I think Nintendo may have just opened up the flood gates for an amazing system very similar to Apple's App Store. We may be in for a wild ride with the Wii U everyone. This just might be the Gigantic Leap Forward that Nintendo needs in order for the Wii U to succeed.

I knew that I was going to try to develop a game and/or application for the Wii U but now it just got a whole lot easier from the Dev's point of view.

Just in case anyone is interested - Google Street U was built using the Web Framework. ;)

What are your thoughts on this?

#187251 Lego City Undercover ?

Posted by nothinglost on 28 March 2013 - 07:07 AM in Wii U Games and Software

^^ Nice. Thanks for the info.

Just my opinion: At first I was annoyed with the long loading times but now it doesn't bother me at all because I know what's awaiting once it's loaded!!! The game is so damn good that it's worth all the loading time!

Not to mention the awesome 70's style Starsky & Hutch load screen music. I have found that dancing along with the music makes the load times much easier. ;)

#186989 Fez Coming to the Wii U Would be Unlikely

Posted by nothinglost on 27 March 2013 - 12:40 PM in Wii U Games and Software

^^ I agree with you but at the same time I can't help but think that he is just running his mouth to get attention.

I honestly was going to buy Fex the moment it was released for any Nintendo system if that ever happened.

Now after the comments that he has made (very publicly I might add) I won't be giving him any of my money.

Opinions are great, just keep them to yourself if you are trying to sell a product that you created.

#186987 Lego City Undercover ?

Posted by nothinglost on 27 March 2013 - 12:37 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm not sure if it was you who I answered in another thread regarding this specific question but here ya go....

I haven't "died" in the city, I have however been eaten by a shark in the ocean and when that happens you simply respawn on land next to the water. It takes some coins away from your total but it never says anything like "you died 13 times" or anything like that. I'm not sure if there is a menu that keeps tracks of things like this in the game like GTA. It would be neat if there was a screen that kept a record of things like this. Maybe there is and I just haven't looked for it yet.

Too busy running around the city doing crazy stuff. :)

#186984 What u guys hoping for in the next system update!

Posted by nothinglost on 27 March 2013 - 12:30 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm hoping for Netflix integration on TVii.

Although one should assume that is up to the Netflix app dev team and not the Nintendo dev team.

EDIT - So yeah..... I guess I have telepathy or something guys... Because I just read that Nintendo have added Netflix to TVii today. Talk about ironic and weird. Hahahhaha!

#186982 Early Spring Releases

Posted by nothinglost on 27 March 2013 - 12:27 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm looking forward to Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes in May.

Other than that I'm interested in trying out Injustice: Gods Among Us but I'm not going to buy it at street date.

Probably Gamefly it first.

#186979 Question about Lego City Undercover

Posted by nothinglost on 27 March 2013 - 12:23 PM in Wii U Games and Software

To answer both of your questions.

1 - Yes, that game plays very similar to GTA 3 & GTA Vice City. It has a similar aesthetic style as well. So if you enjoyed either of those games you will love the playing style of this game.

2 - I haven't "died" in the game yet but I have been eaten by a shark. :)

When that happened I simply respawned back on land next to the water and it took some coins away from me. No big deal at all. :)

BTW - This game is awesome! Buy it dude!

#186971 Don't believe the trash. Walking Dead is a good game.

Posted by nothinglost on 27 March 2013 - 12:17 PM in Wii U Games and Software

It's because they do COD, so people assume that everything they do is going to be a mindless shooting game.

You know I honestly didn't even know that. Hahahhaa.... whoops....

Shows you how much I care about COD and other mindless shoot em ups like that.

I was referring to back in the day man.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Spiderman 2

They were killing it with games in the late 90's/early 00's.

:)

#186962 Don't believe the trash. Walking Dead is a good game.

Posted by nothinglost on 27 March 2013 - 12:10 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I think a lot of people just assume it's going to be bad because the game is published by Activision and because it isn't the overrated telltale game.

That's such a shame if that's the case. Activision used to make amazing games!!! Just because they have faltered on a few titles does not mean that they still can't put out fun/playable games.

I just may rent it. Believe me boy I never trusted critics since 2001 or 2002 (when the FPS craze blew up). After all it has to be way better than the quicktime based TWD games.

Good for you for not trusting reviews. What a lot of people fail to realize is the simple fact that reviews are simply some single person's opinion. Just the same as Movie or Music Reviews. I love movies that have been absolutely panned by critics so that just goes to show you that you can't judge a "game" based on a review. You have to play it yourself to see if you enjoy it.

:)

#186440 Need for Speed: Most Wanted U [Criterion 'definitive' version]

Posted by nothinglost on 26 March 2013 - 08:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Its too bad you missed the sale on Origin for $30, thats where I bought my copy, just got it in the mail last night.  Definately pick it up down the road when you get the cash.

Yeah seriously...

I found out about the sale and then by the time I went on the Origin site it was already back up to the full $59.99 price point.

I'm sure I'll end up with this game when it drops below the $40 mark in a few months.

#186399 Don't believe the trash. Walking Dead is a good game.

Posted by nothinglost on 26 March 2013 - 06:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

^^^ This is exactly why I wrote that. I'm glad that it has helped you in making the choice to pick up the game (eventually).

I figured that I would just take the plunge even with it's "bad reviews" simply because I read an article with one of the lead Dev's and he talked about the different choices that you have to make in the game and how it's more of a scavenging/survival horror rather than a shoot em up.

I honestly don't understand what the big deal is today when gamers will shun a game simply because the graphics aren't "amazingly mind blowing"....

When the heck did gaming become all about graphics?

HD graphics are awesome, don't get me wrong. But if the game sucks then who the hell cares if it looks pretty.

I will always buy a game that plays well over a game that looks nice.

;)

#186397 Need for Speed: Most Wanted U [Criterion 'definitive' version]

Posted by nothinglost on 26 March 2013 - 06:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

^^ Nice, thanks for your thoughts on the game.

I'm still on the fence about picking it up simply because I just bought Lego City Undercover and Walking Dead: Survival Instinct this past week. 2 new games in 1 week is enough for me.... 3 is just crazy. Hehehe.....

Maybe I'll grab it when it drops in price or if I see it used somewhere.

I'm very interested but I've got plenty of gaming to take care already. :)

#186394 Fez Coming to the Wii U Would be Unlikely

Posted by nothinglost on 26 March 2013 - 06:41 AM in Wii U Games and Software

^^^ Yup, I agree.

If Nintendo isn't going to go out of their way to "woo" big dev teams/publishers why the heck would they pay for an Indie title?

Either way it's just a shame.... The more Indie Dev's that we get making awesome games for Wii U the better.

#186179 Fez Coming to the Wii U Would be Unlikely

Posted by nothinglost on 25 March 2013 - 12:23 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Ya know... I was very interested in buying this game if it was ever going to be released on either the 3DS or Wii U but from the amount of garbage that's falling out of this guys mouth lately I'm never giving him any of my hard earned money.

Sorry dude..... but you're shooting yourself in the foot by saying things like this.

#186178 Lego City Undercover ?

Posted by nothinglost on 25 March 2013 - 12:21 PM in Wii U Games and Software

^^^ Nicely said Goodtwin.

It's definitely hard to explain the game to someone if they haven't played either a previous GTA or any of the previous Lego games because it's basically a very good blend of both of those styles.

I can't wait to explore more of the world tonight.

#185266 Don't believe the trash. Walking Dead is a good game.

Posted by nothinglost on 25 March 2013 - 10:37 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Thank OP for this honest review.

That is all I have been waiting for.

I'm definitely gonna pick this up now thanks to you.

I had a feeling that they didn't send out review copies because critics would rail the game but it seems like it's a WD game made for the Fans, which I welcome with open arms.

:)

Sorry for the double post here guys....

Picked up Walking Dead on Saturday and played about 1 1/2 hours last night and.......... (drumroll)

It's wicked fun!!!!

Yes, the graphics are not that good.

Yes, the mechanics could use some work.

Yes, it's a licensed title.

Now that we have those things out of the way, let's talk about how fun this game really is.

First off, the simple (yet difficult) way that you have to play the game is amazing. It's not all about busting down door and blasting zombies.

It's way more complicated than that.

It's a Survival game through and through.

Your best line of defense in this game is to grab a decent melee weapon, crouch down for stealth maneuvering, find as many gas containers as you possibly can and try and keep other Party Members that will be useful to you and not slow you down.

There's definitely a bit of strategy that goes into how well you utilize your supplies and which route you choose to travel.

At the end of each "Area" that you scavenge through you are presented with multiple options for Routes to take on the road towards the next "Area/Mission." After you choose which location to head towards next, you then have to choose which type of road you would like to travel on. They give you 3 choices each time (which are the same 'type' of choice but different locales)

Back Roads

Streets

Highways

Of these choices that you are presented each one of them comes with differing difficulties and challenges.

Such as this.

If you choose Back Roads you will use more Gasoline but you are less likely to run into road blocks and/or breakdown.

Streets - Less gas but a higher chance for blockages.

Highways - Very high probability to break down and most likely hit road blocks but you will use way less gas.

So just based on these options alone the game is brilliant.

Take that into account and also add on the simple fact that you can share your party members items (health, weapons etc) and this is really solid game. I am loving it so far.

Oh and by the way, it's pretty tough too and the sense of urgency to find items is great!

I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves strategy/horror based games and you don't care about super HD graphics. :)

#186112 Need for Speed: Most Wanted U [Criterion 'definitive' version]

Posted by nothinglost on 25 March 2013 - 09:25 AM in Wii U Games and Software

^^^ Me too man.

I still haven't even beat Arkham Asylum or Amazing Spider Man or Zombie U. (Which is completely fine by me.)

Come to think of it, the only game that I have officially completed on Wii U is Super Mario Bros U.

#186110 Lego City Undercover ?

Posted by nothinglost on 25 March 2013 - 09:21 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Like nothinglost said but for kids. I think it's an okay game, but if you haven't played a LEGO game or you're not into them it's not a good pick-up.

Yup, it's definitely a "kid friendly" version of GTA but that being said, it isn't just for Kids. It's simply a game for all ages.

I'm 31 and our daughter is 4 and we both love it for totally different reasons.

The other night we had friends over and we all played together (4 year old and 4 30+ year olds) and we all had a blast.

#185680 Lego City Undercover ?

Posted by nothinglost on 23 March 2013 - 05:45 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The game is great!!!

It has a HUGE open world and it plays very similar to GTA 3 & Vice City.

I would pick it up if I were you.

Totally worth the price.

#185278 Lego City: Undercover GameStop.com Preorders

Posted by nothinglost on 22 March 2013 - 06:52 AM in Wii U Games and Software

^^^

you seem very patient for the situation and what they told you... i would be more furious.

Glad to hear you got it... but if they screwed with you on Lego City, you should just take your business elsewhere.  ;)

Yeah I'm a pretty patient dude most of the time.

I will say that I was pretty upset when I had to explain to our 4 year old daughter that we couldn't play the game together that night because the store didn't get it yet.

That was very tough....

But the way I look at it is like this: it's certainly not going to get me anywhere by complaining to the employee's/manager at Gamestop. Seeing as not a single employee has yet to apologize for the delay to me yet. I know it isn't personally their fault but a little customer service goes a long way in my book.

I will be heading down there soon to either get me $50 back or grab a different game with it.

Either way the situation sucks and they have handled it very poorly.

I'm just happy that I got the game and my daughter and I were able to play it last night.

When I woke her up this morning the first thing she says to me is

"Daddy can we play the Lego game?"

To which I say "Not now honey, we have to get ready to go but we can play after dinner tonight."

"Awe.... okay."

:)

#185272 Lego City: Undercover GameStop.com Preorders

Posted by nothinglost on 22 March 2013 - 05:56 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I called again yesterday afternoon after their shipments arrived and.......... they still haven't received the game yet.

I had to go to Target anyways so I picked up a copy there.

When I feel like going down to Gamestop this weekend I'm simply gonna say "Please take my Paid In Full Pre-Order for Lego: CU and put that $50 towards Walking Dead: SI. Thank you very much.

BTW - played Lego for a few hours last night with our daughter (4 1/2) and we loved it!!!!!!

#184841 Lego City: Undercover GameStop.com Preorders

Posted by nothinglost on 21 March 2013 - 06:07 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I was in Gamestop on Sunday and the guys there told me that they had already received their shipment of Lego.

So I went in last night to pick up my copy (pre-ordered) because I received a Text Message from them telling me to come in and pick it up.

Guess what?........

When I went in at 8:20 last night they told me that they had not not received the shipment yet!!!

Um.... what?

So I'm gonna call them in a little while to see if they received them today.

I just wanna play this damn game!!!!
