Oh man.... so I got to take home a copy of the game from my work and its just trash

 

The zombies are like plastic zombie ken dolls with their hair plastered to their heads 

 

The killing is repetetive as you just punch each zombie in the face with your knife 3 times and they fall to the ground, not like a cool bad ass kill from the show more like:

*punch

 

*punch

 

**just stands there doing nothing

 

*punch

 

**falls straight backwards with arms at side

 

 

and the game is so linear its painful, one point for example there is a semi truck blocking the entire street and you have to get on the other side of it.... there is a 5 foot gap underneath the truck and you could easily easily crawl underneath.... but the game makes you find an alternate route

 

Another complaint is the way the long load screens are handled... o_e

I agree and disagree at the same time.

In my humble opinion - I think that even if the system "wasn't ready for retail" when they launched, it would have been a bad marketing move to launch a console in the Spring. Every gamer (and parent with a wallet) knows that new consoles launch in the Holiday Season. I honestly think that's why it took so long for the 3DS to pick up steam, because they launched in later winter/early spring.

Regardless of whether it was a good/bad choice to launch when they did, we have the Newest Nintendo Console and it's Awesome!!!!

Yeah the past few months sucked as far as new games are concerned but that happens with every single console launch.

I used to run a game store back in the early 2000's and this was the exact same situation that happened when the Gamecube, DS, PS3, and 360 all launched but for some strange reason everyone seems to forget about those launches when they are referring to the current state of the gaming industry.

There are ups and downs just like any other industry.

We are all very lucky to be gamers in this era of multiple consoles "competing" with each other for our hard earned money.

Once again in my opinion, I don't really consider Nintendo to be in "competition" with Sony and/or Microsoft simply because Nintendo fans are so dedicated to the quality that goes synonymously with their name. I will (hopefully) always be a Nintendo fan/consumer unless they completely change their ways. (which I don't see happening anytime soon)

Just checked target, every wii U game I see is $45-$60 still.

Well I'm assuming Target has everything listed at Full Retail because they are launching a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale this weekend.

Also, Target wasn't on the list of game retailers on that site.

I am very happy to hear what the Dev Team has to say about that video that was going around with those 2 guys bashing it.

Let's cross our fingers that this game is at the very least, good.

^^ As corny as it is.... I think they did a great job of getting the point across without a lousy voice over narrator telling us exactly what's going on in the game. Now let's just hope that people buy the game at launch....

$30 for arkham, not too bad, but i'll see if it'll drop to $20 soon. Same goes for scribblenauts.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Arkham Asylum drop to $20 in the next few months.

Sorry guys.... I resurrected this thread a few days ago because of the Toys R Us sale that's going on.

I ordered it on Thursday and it should arrive either today or tomorrow.

When I play it for a bit I will report back here with details.

Alright I played the first 3 chapters of the game last night and.... (drumroll)

It's really fun.

The game itself definitely has some flaws but they are easy to look past because of how fun the game plays.

The fighting system is similar to Batman Arkham Asylum (in a good way.)

The first boss fight was really neat too. A giant robot bug thing the size of a 3 or 4 story building.

Also the open world/sandbox type of city is done very well.

In game usage of the gamepad is also similar to Arkham Asylum. The map is always available and it shows your position in real time. It also displays where challenges and crimes are located.

I really like the experience point system as well.

More to come as I continue to web sling all over Manhattan!!

PS - Not worth $40 - $50 bucks but totally worth $30 in my opinion.

I didn't really see the point in getting the Basic. It was pretty much a no brainer based simply on the fact that the HD was 4x larger and toss in a copy of a $60 game for $50 and I was sold.

Plus the Digital Games 10% offer is awesome!!!

And by the way - Batman Arkham Asylum is also listed for $29.99 on Toys R Us now.

^^^ While I do agree with some of the points that you made Goomba, I honestly feel that the price point is perfect for this console.

It's not completely out of reach for the younger gamers and it isn't too cheap to make it seem like an under powered machine.

I think what a lot of gamers tend to forget is the simple fact that home consoles are essentially Super Gaming PC's with proprietary components built into each of them. 

For me $350 bucks is a small price to pay for an HD Nintendo console by itself, then you add in the amazing Gamepad (which some other companies would probably try and retail for around $200 - $250 all on it's own) and the eventual swarm of awesome Nintendo 1st Party I.P.'s and this is recipe for awesomeness!!!

Not trying to start an argument here, just tossing my 2 cents into the conversation.

Basically my opinion is that Nintendo is doing it correctly this time by launching first, with amazing innovation and a decent price point.

Well we could get a general sense of what our attach rate is here on the forum by stating how many games we each purchased at the time of the console purchase.

Nintendo has always done their own thing regardless of how the other home console companies played things.

I honestly don't buy any of the "Nintendo is failing" hype that's running rampant online.

Wii U sales will pick up eventually just like all home consoles do.... Over time when there are awesome games.

I think that the next few weeks will be a good next step for the Wii U in terms of good games catching the publics attention. Whether or not this directly translates to a boost in console sales is yet to be determined. At the very least, this is the beginning of another great console run for Nintendo.

I absolutely love the Excitebike 3D for 3DS. I think an update of this awesome franchise would do them very well.

Also I really really really really want them to finally release Tetris Attack on Virtual Console!!!

Is it so much to ask for a beloved puzzle game that I'm willing to pay for again?
