#94867 DayZ on the WiiU

Posted by Rockalot on 22 July 2012 - 05:57 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I just say give Zombie U a multiplayer mode that works the way Day Z works.

Bam.

That's awesome! We can at least confirm those characters then. Nothing surprising there.

Now stop wasting time drawing on a white board and make the game! haha. It's so exciting to think that it's their JOB to go in every day and make the next smash Bros. wow.

#89675 Since Namco Bandi is helping with NSSB do you think it will be released sooner?

Posted by Rockalot on 24 June 2012 - 06:11 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think this does mean we'll get it sooner than previously expected. I've gone from expecting a 3 to 4 year wait to a 2 year wait. Next E3 we will get something, they know it's their number one killer app.

No, 3D wouldn't work. I mean it could but no, no one wants that. It would be sloppy and change the game way too much. Smash Bros. is beautiful in it's simplicity. It doesn't need to be changed, just tweeked and made prettier with more stuff.

C'moooooooon kid Goku *fingers crossed*

#89171 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

They had nothing to show. They've just started putting pen to paper and coming up with ideas. I do agree some work should have been done on the side to create a pre-rendered cut scene in which a few new characters were shown, but only because of the announcement last year. That was a big mistake, a mistake made in desperation to hype the Wii U and the 3DS which was on the rocks at the time.

We won't see this next smash bros or anything related to it for about a year and a half I think, and that's being generous. I think Sakurai is under pressure and will rush some things, which could be a good or bad thing depending on what you're after. I'm hoping, best case scenario, we get a prettier, tweaked brawl with more characters.

That said, I'm willing to bet he takes his time with it, and we don't see it for three years.

#89141 Epic uses for the Wii U gamepad! (mockups and concepts)

Posted by Rockalot on 21 June 2012 - 03:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I get ya. I'm sure a lot of shooters on the Wii U will employ that use of the touch screen for sure.

I'd really like to see a strategy game like Total War on the system.

#89132 Epic uses for the Wii U gamepad! (mockups and concepts)

Posted by Rockalot on 21 June 2012 - 02:38 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Glad to see this is still going, I just had a new idea... a light-gun style game that isn't on rails! the new control makes it possible :D imagine a full rpg light-gun style game for Wii U.

Time crisis not on rails....*drools*. Perhaps someone can illustrate this idea for me?

Just aim with the gamepad, move your character around with the d-pad/thumbstick and fire with the triggers etc.

How is that unique to the Wii U Gamepad though? You could have done that on the Wii. In fact they did, with pretty much every shooter released on the system.

#88503 Mario Kart U

Posted by Rockalot on 18 June 2012 - 05:40 PM in Wii U Games and Software

It really just depends on what you play the game for. Blue shells etc are great fun in a party environment, and if you're not so insecure you can stand losing once or twice. However if you are the sort of person who prefers ultra skill based competitive games, I can see why it wouldn't be your cup of tea.

#88502 IGN discovered something interesting...

Direct X is owned by Microsoft. They can't use that tech. So in other words, it is a falsehood.

*facepalm*

#88386 Mario Kart U

The blue shell is essential to Mario Kart, but yeah I wouldn't be surprised if there was an item selection option there if you REALLY want it off.

#88217 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

I was thinking about Knuckles, then thinking "Oh but you would need Tails as well" but then that's getting to be a bit of wishful thinking from a 3rd party standpoint.

What would be cool would be if you selected the series of games you wanted a character from, then it would display all the characters that fit in. that would tidy up the character select screen and give us room for more characters.

#87315 Super Smash Bros. 4 - Character Wishlist

Posted by Rockalot on 13 June 2012 - 07:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm going to re-post something here that I posted in the pinned Smash Bros thread simply because this thread seems more active and I'd like to discuss it further. So, forgive me if you've already read it.

Has anyone here played Sonic Battle for the GBA? There was a character in that caller Emerl or something that is sort of the primary character of the game, and when you start he has a very very basic and slow moveset, but as he fights opponents he learns from them and thus levels up etc. In this way he also learns their moves.

I think this would be a great idea for SSB4. Say you get a scrap robot that could be tied in to the story. As you progress and fight characters, you learn from them, and you're eventually able to assign the moves from any character to the relevant command. So Mario's up+B Jump Punch, and the Falcon Punch as the standard B, etc.

You could also customise the appearance of your robot using new limbs, paint, costume pieces etc.

...I like where this is going. Thoughts?

EDIT: And we NEED to see a Mario Galaxy inspired level. Can you imagine knocking someone off the planet and they just orbit before falling? The two mechanics were pretty much made for each other, it's gotta happen and it's going to be the best stage in the game bar none. Hey while we're at it copy the mechanic and put in King Kai's planet from Dragon Ball for the *fingers crossed* Kid Goku character,

#87009 no online multiplayer for Pikmin 3

Posted by Rockalot on 12 June 2012 - 07:30 AM in Wii U Games and Software

That's a much better explanation. I agree completely. It's still a shame, it would be great, but obviously it's just not meant to be.

#87003 Black Ops 2?

Posted by Rockalot on 12 June 2012 - 07:28 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Dude he's just Wario, calm down. He's meant to be a troll.

I'm not a huge fan myself but this is great for the system. While your points are valid, ianh05, the possitives more than outweigh any 'negatives' (if you could call them that, more just like reasons it may not explode like on the other consoles, which for various reasons is obvious).

You can't deny having the highest selling game of all time on your system is a bad thing at all. Bring it on.

#87001 no online multiplayer for Pikmin 3

Posted by Rockalot on 12 June 2012 - 07:23 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I agree with you except for the "RTS titles are turn based" Clearly they are not, look at any of the Command and Conquer games, or better yet the total war series, which sports thousands of units per side in any given battle.

but aside from that I agree with you.

#86997 The Big Wii U Game Wasn’t Shown At E3

Posted by Rockalot on 12 June 2012 - 07:21 AM in Wii U Games and Software

This was the title Retro is working on. the stories match up. Hey if it's not ready it's not ready, doesn't mean it doesn't exist yet. Still, even a nod in it's direction to confirm it's existence would have been great. Oh well! Next E3.

#86985 [For Fun] If you could only pick 1 of the following which would you pick?

Posted by Rockalot on 12 June 2012 - 07:04 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Super Mario 128 of course. A quality 3D Mario adventure game. I know we have Sunshine and Galaxy 1 and 2, but they weren't as exploitative and Mario wasn't as agile and nimble.

They could call it "The Mushroom Kingdom" and they could finally set in stone the layout of the Mushroom Kingdom, for you to explore as a massive, massive area. Think about it!

Also as a side note, Pokemon Stadium and Snap are amazing games but they should be part of the one RPG experience on the Wii U. A game in which the battles take place where you stand in a Stadium like turn based fashion, with pokemon fighting and dodging to no effect in the background as you select attacks etc to make it more like the anime. A camera would also be an item you acquire like the bicycle, and you could get jobs from NPCs to get certain photos of certain pokemon at certain places at certain times of the day in certin poses ETC ETC ETC. It could have a points system just like the original game and all be built in to this amazing RPG as a side quest system. BECAUSE WHY NOT. MAKE IT HAPPEN NINTENDO.

#86980 no online multiplayer for Pikmin 3

Posted by Rockalot on 12 June 2012 - 06:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

To be fair the game doesn't NEED it, and I can understand Miyamoto's reasonings, but at the same time we've been playing RTS games online with similar levels of units for a long time now, but perhaps these games don't always take in to consideration the EXACT position of each unit?

I have to say, Pikmin 3 with online multiplayer could be really really cool. A competitive edge to the game would really bring it to a new level. Imagine "Collect the X first" or "Captuure the flag" or objective based rounds, or even online co-op!

I know not every game needs online, but it would have been a great addition.

Oh my GOD your PokeDex idea sent shivers up my spine. Imagine that in the wii U Pokemon RPG I'm hoping we get, Pokemon aren't random battles, they're actually roaming around the wild for you to see in huge environments. There could be gameplay elements there in sneaking up on them etc. but what you posted which excites me is the fact that you could go up to one and be holding up your Gamepad to the screen to scan in a pokemon to the pokedex. It's a small thing I know but holy cow! So exciting. This thread has single handedly excited me about the Wii U more than anything at E3. Well done.
