I would put my money on this: They are developing it for current gen and PC first, then taking their time (probably about a year) to port it over to the Wii U with better visuals and use of the WiiPad

I work making games as well but small indie stuff, and we haven't heard anything from Nintendo. I'm really hoping this changes soon. I'd love to put our games on the Wii U store or the eShop, but as they are right now they're incredibly inaccessible to develop for, not to mention expensive. I'm talking $2,000 up to $10,000 just for the dev kits! We'll stick to the iPhone and Android for now, thanks. On the flip side, Sony is fronting a great development suite so indie devs for the PS3 and Vita, which we're considering because it's cheap and easy. But, we'll see.

if Nintendo were not lying when they said more 3rd party support earlier the dev kits in turn would be lowered in cost, rockalot
we do take rumors with (actually quite a lot) some salt, but bad talk about the Wiiu is better said when released with that info so we don't lose ground to trolls on the internet

Obviously I don't know the cost of development on the Wii U because Nintendo isn't dealing with smaller developers yet, the entire point of my post was to say that I hope they DO make it cheaper than their current model or change the model all together, because as a tiny development team we would LOVE to have our content on the 3DS for example, but we can't, because as a company we don't have the funds to back the opportunity to do so. On the other hand, we can upload something to the app store pretty much for free and Apple takes 30%, which in my opinion is a better system.

Please read what I've posted before you comment. I don't like being called a troll by someone who can't be bothered listening to other people before calling them out for something they haven't done. Troll.

I understand why your friend can't tell us more, I just can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to E3!

I can't say I'm overjoyed but I'm cautiously optimistic. I know it will be good, but after the combination of 2D and 3D from Super Mario 3D land, and the almost utter perfection of 3D platforming with super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, I don't see how they could go back to a regular New Super Mario Bros. game.

Let's hope they really surprise us at E3! I'm sure Nintendo will find a way.

Yeah as a few people have said it won't be a big problem. You know, if the system releases with Pikmin 3 and Mario Wii U, then they will both sell well and the third party games will sell meh. Alternately, if they release it without those first party titles ala the 3DS, first party titles wont exist and third party titles will still sell meh, and then everyone will prophesies the demise of the system until first party games DO come out, at which point everything blows over.

Called it.

Most of that isn't totally wild or hard to believe. I have to say I'm really interested in all this MMORPG for the Wii U talk, there's a lot of potential there, I think.

The thing is, E3 isn't for the casual audience, that's what advertising is for. E3 is for the hardcore and professional market, and that's why they need to get it in to their heads that the power of this machine and the actual console itself are so important to detail to everyone. That, and some great 1st party games CONFIRMED for launch, as well as a detailing of their new Nintendo Network and how the Wii U WILL be above competition in online areas.

That's what they NEED to do. What they will actually do? Who knows.

Yeah that is actually a great idea. I'd have them as their own characters though, as much as I like the idea of a Majoras Mask Link, simply because those are unique characters with a lot of depth potential.

Speaking of the SSB Wii U roster, it'd be great if Sakurai does a similar stunt with this game like he did with Brawl, where he ups the website immediately after the (fingers crossed) teaser trailer at E3 confirming basic characters we know are coming back,and once a month he releases a new character on to the website, and once every other alternating week, he reveals either and item or a stage or a mode, etc.

That would be the pimp dogs.

You mean SmashBros Dojo? That site man.......Smash Bros Brawl is the number 1 game I have ever gotten SUPER excited for. Every single day I would see what was updated on the site whether a new Item was revealed or character or stage or whatever.

That's the one! It was a brilliant idea. Let's hope they do something similar again.

All this time I was thinking Nintendo took the domain "Super Mario Bros.4" but It was actully Super Mario 4, I was at gamefaq and this guy made this comment that makes perfect sense

I did not even notice that, so Super Mario 4 should be the next 3D Mario which is for Wii U!.

It's possible Nintendo could be showing off 2 Mario's at E3 for Wii U, one 2D and one 3D but we'll see.

Holy cow! I never made that connection... herp... Brilliant! THAT is what I wanted to hear. Oh gosh I can't wait!! I can't even imagine how amazing the 3D Mario on the Wii U will be!!!

I assume it's a perfect fit, the Wiipad could and I assume would be used primarily for a birds eye view of the field so the player can focus on tactics etc for their team.

I actually think it needs to come back to its roots, but expand on what makes the 3D Super Mario games different. I would make:

The Mushroom Kingdom
A game that really expands on the idea of the mushroom kingdom and fleshes it out a whole lot more. The story is traditional and you play as Mario, but you can also choose to play as other characters that control similarly, but with differences. Think Multi-player of SM64 on the DS, where you could play as Luigi, Yoshi or Wario. So, kind of like Super Mario World but in full 3D. I think we need a game that clearly defioines what the Mushroom Kingdom is and where everything is. It would be an amazing world to explore.
