#279139 Wii U Wishlist

Posted by Insanejawa on 31 March 2014 - 02:13 AM in Wii U Games and Software

New to the forums so forgive me if these have been mentioned already.

New Zelda game (Hyrule Warriors looks nice, but its another game with a Zelda skin)

If a Zelda remake: OoT with a nice graphics makeover, I think WW already looked good.

Metroid a: if a Prime type stick with GC controls or b: Other M type, but with open world with items found not told when you can use them with no Motion Contol/FPS hybrid.

Kid Icarus perhaps as some type of Open World with Ancient Greece setting

F-Zero

Punch Out

Since Nintendo appears tight with Sega: Skies of Arcadia

Maybe Rygar? I know it Tecmo but have a soft spot since it was my first NES game I bought.

#280181 The official "What games should I get?" Thread

Posted by Insanejawa on 07 April 2014 - 03:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Looking for my next indie game. Just bought The Cave and loved it but it was too short IMO.

Downloaded Trine 2 Demo and liked it but I don't want to get burned with another game that I can beat rather quickly.

Unepic looks awesome

Child of Light coming soon also looks good

And Bit Runner has some good reviews.

#280184 I redesigned Wii U...

Posted by Insanejawa on 07 April 2014 - 04:11 AM in Wii U Hardware

Love it!

One question though: will dust get into the disc drive so we can experience the old school "game wont play so blow into the console to get the contact pins clean" effect?

#280546 What I would do to save the wii u

Posted by Insanejawa on 09 April 2014 - 02:36 AM in Wii U Hardware

Probably has been said over and over again on these forums but being new I'll toss my few cents in the ring.

Advertise on channels that more adults watch (you know the people with money that buy the consoles)

Try and grab more of the older gamer crowd than just tossing nostalgia their way. Although I did buy the Wii U for hopefully Zelda and Metroid but Mario was not the reason I went with the console. (Maybe Mario Kart was)

Upcoming Mario Kart bundle with included SMBU pack too.

Why did they waste time redesigning the Wii for the Wii Mini (better resource management for development)?

Actively court some 3rd party devs for Exclusives like they did Capcom with the Gamecube.

Advertise again

Dare I say it.....Another price drop.

Firmware update for Blueray if possible, Network connectivity for shared network drives to access MP3s and such

Some more major apps like Skype, Facebook and such so the Gamepad can truly be used as a basic tablet (not a full fledged Andriod or Ipad) but more than just a gimmick as most people look at it.

How about a Subscription Service that gives you back catalog game access in tiers $5 a month per console (NES, SNES, GBA, N64)

A better social interface

Different UI depending on taste/age, at 38 I find the Mii based UI seems real kiddy and probably turns some adult gamers off.

Advertise

#281053 Nicalis Founder - "Wii U Gamepad is a waste of time and resources."

Posted by Insanejawa on 12 April 2014 - 05:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

Ummmmmm pretty simple then from a development standpoint, don't code the game to use the gamepad. If DKC isn't using it, then I doubt Nintendo has some kind of limitation that games must use it. the Xbox one has the Kinect but developers don't feel the need to use it either. Most of the games I've played just use the pad for maps and inventory management anyway.

#292740 Hyrule Warriors- Fi will be playable, Girahim and Imprisoned will be enemies

Will we see Error?

#287899 Mario Kart 8 Sells 1.2 Million Copies Worldwide

Posted by Insanejawa on 03 June 2014 - 01:20 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I would think that 900k of those being bundled with the system being sold over the weekend may be more impressive than 1.2 mil in sales. If that is the truth then 300k of sales over 3 days would be pretty impressive on its own. I would like to see the Watchdogs numbers broken down by console sales vs. all of them lumped together.

#290882 Mario Kart 8 DLC

Posted by Insanejawa on 19 June 2014 - 02:29 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Someone beat me to it, some non Mario world characters, if the more "life like" ones are not feasible like Samus or Link, but WW Link could be. More tracks. The character selection was my only gripe about this game, too many babies and koppa-kids.

#291385 Gameskinny: If you're over 30 and love Nintendo, you are Not a Normal human.

Posted by Insanejawa on 24 June 2014 - 01:46 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Two gamers in my house over 30.

Me upstairs playing MK or any Wii U game: Hey that's pretty cool, crap another blue shell?

My Bro-in law downstairs playing CoD on 360: Mother F'er! F-ing A-hole, G-D MF! BEEP.............

who sounds more normal?

#279761 What on earth could Nintendo should do at E3 to win back developers?

Posted by Insanejawa on 04 April 2014 - 02:15 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think 3rd party support is the lynch pin in Nintendo's gallows pole. Not too sure but I think those 3rd party companies that do port games over to the Wii U feel obligated in some extent to incorporate the game pad into the experience of the game, which most likely makes the game harder to code and requires more dev time vs just porting one from one console to another like PC vs Mac games. If the game works well on the other consoles without a gamepad why force the gamepad experience? Just treat the Wii U as another console with a standard controller. The gamepad should be a feature they want to use not feel they have to. I think there was a quote on another post about some company saying that unless the game is written for the Wii U it does not hold up to the other systems and this is most likely the truth and therefore makes them weary of spending development time to the Wii U when they can just port to another already existing group (PS3 and 360s) so it isn't a performance issue but an issue of hardware\software differences being so big that devoting a team to just the Wii U does not make sense financially when compared to the install base and how many units they will sell.

#280713 Wii U cant handle EA Sports UFC.

Posted by Insanejawa on 10 April 2014 - 03:49 AM in Wii U Hardware

The only sports titles that ever mattered:

Tecmo Bowl

Pro Wrestling "The winner is you!"

Bases Loaded/RBI Baseball (Tie)

Blades of Steel

Sorry EA but you couldn't compete

3 Star Fox/Kid Icarus (tie)

4 F-Zero

6 HD remake of OOT

7 Animal Crossing with mobile iOS & Andriod app for basic actions, so you can time sink without having to use the Wii U every day to pull weeds

I cant wait for Captain Toad! They were my favorite levels in the SMB game.

#279514 "Our rivals did a bad job at all their ports, so we're not even going...

Posted by Insanejawa on 02 April 2014 - 02:09 AM in Wii U News

Is it because of the Game Pad? Hey write the game not using the game pad then, just look at it as another console with standard controllers. Don't use that has to be on next gen excuse and the Wii U cant compete with PS4 or XBox1 because they dont seem to be having a problem releasing them on PS3 or 360 and I know the U is better than those.

#290478 Battery came out of wii u

Posted by Insanejawa on 16 June 2014 - 02:05 AM in Wii U Hardware

No sticker on mine when I bought the Mario Bros U one, how was all the inside packaging? I know they had everything super neat and tidy on mine even the foam wrap was taped down on the console, and I think that would be a lot of trouble to go through for a cmos battery. Does the battery still work and keep time on the U when turned off and unplugged? considering there was no super shock absorbing packaging holding it in place, I could see the screw backing itself out making its way all the way from where ever it put together. "The world is an imperfect place, screws fall out all the time...

#287902 The Wii might as well be a Gamecube system now !

Posted by Insanejawa on 03 June 2014 - 01:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

That's what I am using my Wii for now. Mostly because it takes up less space under my TV than the GC did, even though I had the GB adapter block on the GC I need the space. Plus I bought two of the games that I regularly played on that LoZ Link to the Past and Metroid Fusion for the VC on Wii U, just waiting for Castlevania to pop up hopefully.

#279099 Space MMORPG Under Development For Wii U

Posted by Insanejawa on 30 March 2014 - 04:24 PM in Wii U News

One of my first posts. This does look promising but not too excited if the gameplay is going to be like Eve Online. Would be better if the mmo aspect was like SWG's Jump to Lightspeed.

#291004 Why can't Nintendo release all of their games on the VC on the eShop?

Posted by Insanejawa on 20 June 2014 - 03:30 AM in Wii U Games and Software

How is asking someone to pay for re-release of a game you owned 20 years ago to run on a new system wrong?

a: It takes time and money re code a game for a new system.

b: When they emulate them for VC they up graphics quality (Metroid Fusion GBA graphics to look nice on the Wii U)

c: When your VCR breaks do you go to Universal or Dream Works for a free DVD of the tape you bought in 1992?

#291595 Next wiiu console package

Posted by Insanejawa on 26 June 2014 - 02:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

I would say Smash Bros. If wanted to get a bigger chunk of the hold outs do a Smash Bros/MK 8 bundle.

#280898 If/When a Wii U breaks...

Awesome, Thanks all.

#280708 If/When a Wii U breaks...

Posted by Insanejawa on 10 April 2014 - 03:42 AM in Wii U Hardware

I see horror stories about how if your Wii U bites the dust you can not recover your games, or it takes an act of congress to convince Nintendo to refund your credits so you can repurchase them from the eshop. Should I be sticking all my games on a USB drive instead and if so, in the case of a broken Wii U would I be able to hook the external up and sign in with my Nintendo ID and go about my merry way?

#291384 Famitsu confirms new playable characters, Zant appearance in Hyrule Warriors

I wonder if Error will be one....

#290383 GC on Wii U possibility now (wishful thinking)

Posted by Insanejawa on 15 June 2014 - 07:38 AM in Wii U Hardware

So with the controller adapter, and the Wii channel how hard would it be to add a memory card adapter and use the Wii channel to play GC games? I know it's just a pipe dream, but I think that would also bump up sales. It should be capable, if the Wii could read the GC discs I would also assume the Wii U could since it can read Wii discs. The only tricky things I can think of are, is the Wii channel on the U a full emulation of the Wii or just the Wii game portion, and if it is not then they would have to make a GC channel then, and how to get your saved data from the memory cards to the Wii U memory, perhaps an SD Card/thumb drive to GC Card adaptor.

#281306 Jump on the Wii U ship!

Posted by Insanejawa on 14 April 2014 - 01:51 AM in Introduction Central

Welcome to the Wii U! I was in the same boat, but I did own the Wii. I kept getting bombarded from all the internet stories of how the Wii U is a flop for Nintendo and 3rd party blah blah blah. I rode out the Black Friday and next gen launch hype of the PS4/Xbox One, listened to my co-workers talk about how great the new consoles were and that I should get one now. So I waited until my tax return came in and made my choice. If you look at the list of all the hyped up games very few are exclusives to the new consoles, in fact most of the big releases will also be available on PC. So I took those games into consideration along with the fact that I can still play Wii games on the U, and it was an easy choice. Not to mention the only games my wife will play are the SMB platformers and Mario Karts and since we share a TV and budget, she didn't feel the lower priced Wii U was as big of a "waste of money" since we already had a working Wii (since she is not a gamer the whole next generation game consoles don't really mean much to her). So since Feburary I have stocked up an quite a few games and half are the exclusives to the U, SMB U, DKC, SMB3D, and the games I am most looking forward to are going to be exclusives X, Zelda U, MK, Smash Bros, and eyeing Pik 3 for my next purchase.
