Did the Digital Event make its way to the eshop yet? That's going to be the highest quality feed we will ever get of this, so we can compare the screens to the video.
Yup. Anyone got a capture card?

I'll be surprised if it doesn't have multiplayer. Rather curiously, not counting games that don't have their number of players listed, it's the only game on Nintendo's E3 site that has the number of players listed as TBD.

If you want more successful results in terms of room size, I'd recommend making this one day of the week for a couple hours. Sounds silly, but this way everyone knows when to play.

Can I play Mario Kart 8 with the Wii classic controller pro?
I just tried it, it works.

You need to receive an item called "Lucky Star" first. It'll give you a tutorial and everything, you'll know it when you get it.

I might bring mine to school sometimes next year to play during lunch, if I really feel the need. Kinda feels silly when I already own a 3DS though. Then again, 4 player Smash Bros sounds really enticing, and some of my friends don't own a 3DS...
I have a converter for my car that allows for portability as well. it's pretty cool.
Might have to do this for longer car rides.

Pretty cool!
They are actually not calling it a ND, but a "live-stream event".
Maybe that means we will be seeing something different.
Hmm. I kinda noticed this, but didn't really think anything of it since it used the direct logo and is on the direct page. We'll see what's up on Thursday, I guess.

2.5 hours left... Is it typically best to view the Directs through Nintendo's own site? I use to do that, but sometimes I get disconnected.
Edit: 3.5 hours, sorry...
I usually watch from Nintendo's site, get disconnected, and then go to Youtube where it's generally pretty smooth. I'm going straight to Youtube this time.
Edit: Updated the op and title to state the video length and reflect the official name.

I'm greatly pleased overall. Much more hype than I thought it'd be, definitely wasn't expecting Mewtwo. May consider bringing my Wii U to school to play 8-player smash at lunch.
and they didnt even mention Amiibo!
except they did ![]()

not sure, hopefully we get an gamexplain video or someone shows us. I don't have a chance today to check it out myself. I assume it shares the replays to Miiverse, but perhaps social too?
good question. i would assume the sharing stuff might be in the 3ds version, mewtwo support. not sure about the mii fighter costumes and the 8 players stages are not supported obviously.
3DS has had sharing since 1.0.5. You can upload replays/snapshots/mii fighters to an online database, which people can look through and download from. They're deleted after a set amount of time (30 days iirc). All DLC is shared between versions (and you get a discount for buying it for both versions).

It's annoying. I bought a component cable for Wii so that it could produce 480p and there is a difference, don't get why Wii U can't do 480p in Wii mode using HDMI.
It can, it just requires going into the Wii U settings and changing the resolution each time you want to play a Wii game. It would also require setting it back to HD to play Wii U games in HD. Not really any less annoying, but the option is there.

If I remember correctly, any drive rated for USB 2.0 or older should work just fine. It's only the relatively new 3.0 drives that need a y-cable.
Edit: Don't quote me on that until I find a source.
Edit 2:
From http://www.nintendo....nal-usb-storage :
So yeah. If it's officially certified as USB 2.0, you're fine. If it's 3.0/don't know, you're okay so long as you purchase a y-cable.

Very cool. And these figurines will also be able to be used for other titles too? I heard that is the case. Imagine transferring custom move sets to a figurine and taking it to your friends house. Kind of cool.
This will be something I will not only collect but make good use of.
I could easily see this... Especially since they were so secretive to how the custom move sets worked in the Direct, maybe they're holding out until NFP is officially unveiled to talk about it.

hope these still work on the gamecube (cant tell if they are using the nunchuk port)
They are. These are basically custom designed classic controllers.

Thanks for the replies! I will have a chance to try it out this weekend, and I will report back. Hoping for smooth and easy install!!
Someone mentioned that I could buy the component cables....and yes, I did know that, but I am thinking that quality would be better using the HDMI...and since that is what comes with the Wii U...I won't have to buy anything else. Am I correct thinking the quality would be better?
Theoretically, yes. However, it varies by TV. In general, the higher the resolution, the more noticeable the difference. So, if your TV is 1080p, HDMI should look quite a bit better. If it's only 720p or 1080i, though, the difference will still be there, just not as pronounced. But I think you'll be fine hooking it up to the Blu Ray player, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I'll probably be picking this up, with my 2 brothers both preferring GCN controllers. I'll have to experiment between the pro controller and this, though.
looks dumb and why does it require 2 usb ports?
One port probably doesn't meet the power requirement for 4 controllers.
