I just bought a Wii U last week. I recently downloaded Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. and registered my Wii U. I'm super excited about purchasing Assassin 3 and Ducktales Remastered next week so I can get enough Club Nintendo coins (80) to get Mario Kart 64. Looks like I picked a good time to buy a system so I can get the 64 classic ! Excited !

Also, a gaming store near me sells the wii classic controller and I'm getting a Visa Gift Card soon to download SMK and SM64 with wii points that I'll get from that on the Wii Shop Channel. It seems Nintendo of America doesn't make wii points cards anymore, as I can't find ANY. I'm some happy prepaid gift cards exist.

Welcome! I also recommend you play Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Super Mario 3D World. I'm doing a playthrough on DKC TROPICAL FREEZE if you want to check it out!

I will definitely check into those at some future time as well, LOVE Super Mario World, grew up playing it ! I HAD to download the classic ! I bet the 3D one is Amazing too. DKCTF must be good too, I enjoy DK.

I`m like you ! I remember when I was 7 years old I woke up Christmas morning to find a NES under my tree. A few years later mom again bought me a SNES for my birthday ! I had sooo many games for that system..... A few years later again when I was 12 my Pop (RIP Pop) bought me an N64. After that I gave up buying Nintendo and the whole gaming idustry in general. I`m finally back to gaming after buying a Wii U and I`m SUPER stoked about the new games and old games I can get from my past at 29. I`ve played XBox at my friends house a few times, but I never did buy one.

Does anyone know if this game will eventually come out for the Wii U ??? Looks like I will have to eventually buy this game (Digital Copy) along with buying the other games like SMB, SMB 2, and SMB 3 on e-shop. E-bay sells the game as it is harder to get now for the Wii ! It`s good that the Wii U will play it !!!!!

There are also graphical diferences. Don`t remember seeing these versions of the SMB games being released individually.

Yes, that`s why I want to get the Wii Version game ! I don`t find it all that reduntant because the graphics in the Wii version (Which are the same for SNES) are BETTER and not exactly the same as the NES graphics. And no, the VC never did release it, just the digital copy. I don`t mind having two versions of the 3 games because I`m going to invest in other games before buying the upgrade version.

I'm so excited !  I got 250 Club Nintendo coins !!!! Time to download the N64 classic that's being offered for 250 coins for my Wii U....Anyone else getting this game before June 8th ??? It's a great game for a classic and a good game to have with Mario Kart 8 !!!!...

Yea....Understable ! Most of these games  you have to go into The Wii Shop Channel when your Wii U is in Wii mode and imput the code there. I can just as easily go buy prepaid Visa/Mastercards and buy games on there. Wii Point Cards are very hard to find here. But at least I don't have to use 1000 points on MK 64 now !

I have to go buy a Wiimote now so I'm going with Motion Plus.....I also have to buy a classic controller, but as of now The Wii Shop Channel has WAY more games then the E Shop Channel. SMK and SM 64 are next on my list.

I mean think about it, the Wii U can't play Gamecube games and the Wii can ! The first one is the original one capable of playing Wii and Gamecube games. This is RVL-001. It's the Wii that comes with the stand so it can sit vertically. In order to use a GCN game, you must have a gamecube memory card and a gamecube controller.

Nintendo shut down the Wi-Fi Connection service for DS and Wii on May 20, 2014. What is the point of a Wii anymore as most people will probably want to get a Wii U, like me that owns one. Is the Wii still worth buying if you use it as a Gamecube. Thoughts....

I'm saying the only use for a Wii right now might as well be to play Gamecube Games, otherwise the system seems to be pretty much retiring.

I use my Wii U for Wii U games, and I simply picked up an old gamecube and stuck my memory card in it. And it came with the lan adaptor and gameboy advance adaptor, so it's more than what the Wii was capable of.

 

 Ah yes, that makes more sense I guess. I'm just thinking about if your somebody like me who already owns a Wii U and can go on the internet With Wi - fi it might not be a bad idea for Wii U owners to get it to play GC games. And Yea, it's GREAT if you put Homebrew on the Wii.

LOL, it was giving me trouble and it came out several times so I had to edit my post.

I do kind of have to agree with this in a way - With the WiiConnect servers being shut off, you need to connect to a unofficial server which currently requires Homebrew. I don't know how difficult it is to use and keep homebrew on the Wii U's Wii mode.

Since they are no longer supporting the network capabilities of the two systems, the homebrew scene has stepped up to the task and have homebrew servers running that allow you to play ssbb, MKWii, Animal Crossi, etc. At this point Nintendo should just release an update allowing us to connect to any server without hacking.

The server on the Wii U in Wii mode will still work . (-: . You can still access The Wii Shop Channel and on the Wii too. The Wii itself can be plugged into your modem using a Wii LAN Adapter to work as well but is better connected to an un-official server if you want to play online as it is the only way you can. In the Wii mode  or on the Wii you cannot however play online now .That's only a service Wii U provides with their wi-fi. The Wii's Server will still work for such things as Youtube, Netflix, and so on (Not in the WII U Wii app) just not for playing online PERIOD as far as Nintendo is concerned.

You should be able to buy one on e-bay. (-: I had to update this after just getting off the phone with Nintendo.

Be sure to delete your WFC profile or save file before connecting to the server or else it will give you an error when you connect. For DS, only Action Replay DS, flashcards and emulators can be used at this time. For Wii, your console must be able to run homebrew.

Aha, yea Nintendo will NEVER endorse Homebrew as it would defeat the purpose of the VC.

I tried to get it but I get an error code.  Sent an email to Nintendo and haven't heard back.

That might be because you have to enter the Wii App on the Wii U, and with your classic controller to play and your Wii Wiimote in hand go to the Wii Shop Channel (NOT E SHOP) and enter your code there. That's what I have to do too after I get a Wiimote this week !

I went to the Wii shop but couldn't figure out how to enter the code- they wanted Wii points or something like that.

I'm facing the same thing I was given a code for N64's Mario Kart this week. I have to get a Wiimote and Classic controller before I redeem the code.Call Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700 for help tomorrow as it is an American holiday (if you need too), I'm in Canada so no holiday here (Canada phones the same number too and we have access to the same E-Shop and Wii Shop Channel as the USA). Let me know how it turns out as I soon have to do the same this week !

I found this on the web !  Follow the seven steps on your Wii U !

1. Your system should have update 2.0.0 U as of 11/27/12.
2. In the HOME Menu, choose the "Wii Menu" icon.
3. In the Wii Menu, tap the "Wii Shop Channel" icon.
4. Choose "Start Shopping," then tap "Settings and Features."
5. Roll down to "Wii Download Ticket," and choose it.
6. Tap the box and use the virtual keypad to put in the Wii Download Ticket number then press "OK."
7. Press "Redeem," then "OK," then "Now" to download the game.

Cool, thanks. I only got stuff so far from the Wii u eShop and not the Wii eShop. This will come in handy when that time comes.

NP...I'm like you ! Only I just have three games I want to buy and get out of the Wii Shop Channel (Other then the game I bought with my Club Nintendo Coins), then I can convert them over to the Wii U side of it when it's released in the Wii U E-Shop. I also have a download code, so I reseached how to use it and thought I'd share if anyone doesn't know how redeem them.

COOL....SSB is a great game !

I went out and bought a Wiimote today and downloaded N64's Mario Kart with my download ticket on The Wii Shop Channel in Wii mode. I tried to get a Classic Controller Pro at a second hand gaming store but the two stores I went too didn't have any (which you need to play those games &. Nintendo stopped making them). I got a raw deal though, I bought two of them on e-bay for $24 !

Or buy a wii and use gamecube controller, that might be best.

You could also get a  GC Gamecube Game Controller Converter Adapter for Wii & Wii U Console for the Wiimote without having to buy a Wii. This would be cheaper too if you look for one on e-bay or online. Then you could use your Gamecube controller with your Wii U ! I thought about getting one yesterday, but decided to buy the actual controllers instead on e-bay !

One last question, I bought the wii u bundle with mario and luigi games, registered the wii u for 160 coins, can I register the games that came with it also for extra coins? or those version that came with console not possible?

No, you can't if they came with your Wii U, You'll get a welcome one for 10 too, after that you have to buy more games. The games you buy are fine as long as they are eligible for coins.
