#9291 wii u to hardcore for me?

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 03:12 PM in Wii U Hardware

I don't think you really know what a hardcore game is. A Hardcore game is a game that attracts the true fans of a franchise. If there is a very large following of a game it is Hardcore. Mario games are what considered is (should) Hardcore.

I think a true hardcore game attracts not only fans of a franchise, but fans of a genre. Mario is "hardcore" because it is a top-tier platformer.

Triggers also add to FPS.

#9287 Will Wii U Change the "Hardcore" Opinion?

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 03:04 PM in Wii U Hardware

I don't know about you guys, but there's no way in Arlen that I would like to see a Gritty, and "mature" Mario title. Let's face it, after the Wii lost "hardcore" gamers' "respect" everyone forgot what Nintendo used to do. Even when talking to an older gamer, who considers himself casual, he could only call Nintendo "kiddy" and said they haven't made anything but remakes and will never gain third party support because Nintendo make's it too hard for third parties to develop on the consoles. He continued to argue this even after I laid it out that the Big N is trying to rectify their past by reeling in third parties and is doing a good job at it.

I'm not talking about giving Mario an AK, but more classic Nintendo franchises could benefit from taking a Twilight Princess-like turn. The Metroid prime series for example I believe was a step in the right direction.

And there's really no good way to make a platformer more mature...

#9253 What is your favorite book?

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 12:58 PM in The Café

One series of books I really like is the Inheritance Cycle. I'd forgotten about them until today, when I saw that the fourth one finally has a release date: 8 November 2011. I'll have to re-read the first three before then, to refresh my memory. It's about time this book was published; the last one was in 2008. I'm hoping it'll be worth the wait though.

Ah! I was just thinking about that series the other day! I'll have to go find the first 3 as well. There on a book shelve somewhere...

#9251 Boba2007's Kirby fan art

Awesome man. I love Kirby, and your fan art is really on point. I wish I was that artistically gifted. Keep up the good work.

#9250 Will Wii U Change the "Hardcore" Opinion?

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 12:53 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think the perception that nintendo consoles are for kids started with the gamecube. Then that reputation got 10 times worse with the Wii. The WiiU has the potential to get things back on track with competent online, adding new more mature franchises, and even making classic nintendo franchises more gritty and mature.

#9213 A Nintendo MMO

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 11:41 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Cool but i think you should get a wider range of characters and you start off fighting baby metroids then get all the way to Omega metroids.

There could be more races based on the bounty hunters from MPH. Each of them could have a home world, unique abilities, etc.

#9201 SSB4 Final Smash IDEA just for fun

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 11:04 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Wario

Final Smash 1:
Wario man is back from Brawl. This time with even more unexpected minor changes to wario's moveset.

Final Smash 2:
Atomic fart. Way bigger then even the most charged up wario waft, the atomic fart is a massive methane mushroom cloud that sends enemies flying. Any enemy that isn't KO'd by the blast is dazed for 5 seconds from the awful stench.

Final Smash 3: Backed-up Wario. Wario grows into a giagantic ball and can roll around the stage. Wario can be turned slowly and the ball takes a while to accelerate, but anybody it touches gets launched. Wario lets out tiny farts and slowly shrinks back to normal size. The smaller he gets from expelling gas, the faster he moves, but the less damage he does on contact.

#9189 metroid wiiu prime or classic

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 10:39 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think they would release a classic metroid for 3ds, not wii u

Agreed. A subtle 3D effect would really benefit a classic side scroller Metroid.

#9188 Pikmin 3

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 10:38 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think he was referring to Olimar as Pikmin there, which is worse than calling Samus "Metroid or Mario (Jumpman) Donkey Kong.

I know. :P But comments like that do make me wonder if he's even given Pikmin (and poor Captain Olimar) a chance.

#9168 Pikmin 3

Get out. Now.

Lol. Pikmin are like...one big entity man. Pikmin is love...pikmin is him.....hehe, groovy. :P

#9088 the most disappointing game

Animal Crossing: City Folk. All the reviews said it was basically the same game I had been playing for hundreds of hours, but I bought it anyways. :P

#9086 A Nintendo MMO

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

All these suggestions of a Mario MMO, or a Pokemon MMO... Those are all great ideas.
But there's one franchise where the MMO market will really draw in the 'Hardcore' crowd...

A Metroid MMO.

Think about it for a second. You play as either a Bounty Hunter or a Space Pirate. You could change your equipment, getting different types of blasters, armor and a whole assortment of metoid-style things. Either the Space-Pirate homeworld, or the <Insert Place that I forget the name of here> could be a homeworld where everyone gathers, to form parties, trade and have an apartment or whatever, while other planets (Tallon IV, Aether, ect.) could be Dungeons, some randomized, some not. Then you could have Duels, SP vs. BH fights, training...

Would be the best MMO ever.

Whoa, that's actually a really sweet idea. A MMO that's a universe filled with bounty hunters. With your own ship and unique armor it would be pretty damn awesome.

#9083 Deathwatch goes HD ?

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I never picked up a copy of madworld because I heard it was a short game. Now that the price has gone down I'd like to pick it up. Although the violence may have been over the top, I'd love to see games like Madworld for the wiiU. Games that aren't afraid to be violent and gruesome.

#9080 Wii U doubts

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:41 AM in Wii U Hardware

Not sure too much about the source, because I probably read it on NeoGaf, and threads there can die and be sent back about 5 pages in a day. But apparently it was confirmed the first dev kits used underclocked hardware, I don't know why, but perhaps it was easier for ports? It has been comfirmed that they've now sent out more powerful dev kits.

Although that sounds like an excuse in the form of a rumor, I hope it's true. If there is a reliable source for this I'd like to see it...

#9077 Ghost Recon Online free with Wii U?

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:38 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I was under the impression that it would be a free pickup for the wiiU as well. If it really was supposed to be a good game I'd probably drop around $15 for it.

#9076 Pikmin 3

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:35 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I played pikmin 1 after seeing it on luigi's mansion and i loved it. Just the idead of making an endless amount of pikmin to fight for you and collecting ship parts is cool but emporer bulblax had me running back and forth back to get more pikmin. At first I liked the idea of no time limit in Pikmin 2 but i always felt like there was no worries at all even if you get an extinction you can still gather more pikmin as long as you want which to me took the fun out of the game.
Pikmin 1- Race against time to find your ship parts, will you escape alive?

Pikmin 2- Gather treasure with all the time in the world, mabye we should nap.

It was still fun but i think in a game you have to worry about dieing to have fun otherwise it's like having infinite heatlh.

I never really liked the time constrictions of the first game. Although in retrospect it did add to the challenge and possibly even enjoyment of the game.

#9074 GunGoomba's Smash Bros Ideas

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:32 AM in Wii U Games and Software

The Ancient Minister was never evil, he was ROB.

True, they'd have to come up with a whole new main villain if they're going to create another subspace emissary type thing. Although the original was a pretty mediocre experience. :P

#9067 Wii U controller concept

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:28 AM in Wii U Hardware

I would agree that the single most expensive feature of the controller is likely to be the touch-screen, but another major expense will be the processing power needed to compress the signal and stream it to the wireless unit.

That is why I am so curious about the HDMI socket in the bottom of the controller, can extra screens be hooked up to the base unit by cable? That socket must have a purpose, what is an HDMI socket for if not transmitting High def images and sound?

I thought most devices these days use an HDMI port to upload the image to a bigger screen like a TV. But the wiiU does that wirelessly, so who knows what it's for.

yea i have heard people talking about that, but havent find the source, where is it?

and doesnt the controller have a socket for recharging the batteries like you do with the ps3 controller?

I hope it has a recharge socket. That controller is going to lose charge pretty fast compared to other controllers.

#9066 metroid wiiu prime or classic

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:24 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Interesting question, but I vote prime for sure. I remember how the original prime wowed everybody with the graphics, just imagine an HD prime on a massive scale.

#9063 SSB4 Final Smash IDEA just for fun

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:22 AM in Wii U Games and Software

am I the only one here who doesn't like final smashes?

My roommate hates them. And the worst part is that all of his friends he plays with back home insist on having final smashes on every round.

There could be 4 Final Smashes, one for each Special Move, for example.
Ganondorf
Neutral: Dark Wave (The move he uses in OoT, like Mario's Final Smash.)
Side: Ganon Charge (The Final Smash is Brawl.)
Up: ??? (couldn't think of one.)
Down: Transform (Ganondorf turns into the Ganon from OoT.

That's actually a really cool idea. That way you could activate 1 of 4 possible final smashes bases on the direction you choose.

#9061 Grand Theft Auto, Read Dead Redemption Publisher And Developer Is Looking At...

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 07:18 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Who cares if a third party is a console exclusive. As long as it makes it to the WiiU in a non-dumbed down form I'm happy.

#8947 What is your favorite book?

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 07:05 PM in The Café

when I was a kid my favorite books were goosebumps books! ^^

I loved the goosebumps books! I had tons of them. Currently I'm reading "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" which is being made into a movie by the Coen brothers. Really excited for that.
