There's no free version of TapTalk??

#8944 7 things you didn't know about the Wii U.

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 06:55 PM in Wii U Hardware

None of that was new to me. I guess I've been doing a good job of keeping up to date with all of the latest info.

#8943 GunGoomba's Smash Bros Ideas

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 06:50 PM in Wii U Games and Software

New..idea...overload. :P Although I do like the idea of adding king boo to the roster, but he doesn't really have limbs to speak of...

#8930 Dogs or cats?

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 06:10 PM in The Café

Dogs for sure. Although I have to admit that cats have been growing on me.

#8929 No.

The level of hurt this causes me cannot be put into words...

#8928 StarFox Assault 2 Could It Happen?

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 06:07 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, star fox 64 was the last great console star fox game, and it was entirely vehicle based. I could do without on foot missions. A return to the arwing is what the series needs to give it a shot in the arm.

#8926 Zelda 3DS vs N64 Comparison

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 06:03 PM in General Gaming

I definitely appreciate the subtlety of the improvements made. It doesn't change what made the original great, it just brings it up to the level of detail the designers wish the could have brought to the table originally.

#8925 3DS - Wii U Connectivity Speculation Thread

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 06:00 PM in Wii U Hardware

It be cool if the wiiU let you do additional things with the 3DS and streetpass, but I hope that the WiiU brings a whole other level of friend-code-less connectivity.

#8924 Wii U controller concept

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 05:57 PM in Wii U Hardware

I would think that the single feature that drives up the cost of individual controllers would be the touch screen, which you simply couldn't remove. Your solution is a cool idea, but I'm still waiting on Nintendo to explain how this whole controller mess is going to work.

#8923 Grand Theft Auto, Read Dead Redemption Publisher And Developer Is Looking At...

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 05:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I hope people aren't actually thinking Wii U will get GTA 5 exclusively.

A Nintendo home console getting a GTA game PERIOD sounds great to me. Or even a WiiU version of some new franchise like Red Dead Redemption or LA Noire.

#8922 Wii U doubts

Posted by WeeYou on 18 June 2011 - 05:49 PM in Wii U Hardware

To be honest, it's way too early for even the most die hard Nintendo fans to make a wholehearted pitch for the WiiU. I'd like to say, "buy it man, it'll have way more mature games and less rated E shovelware!" But we just can't know that yet. The WiiU is at least a year away, and the other next gen consoles are likely 2 years away. I'd be happy to do some convincing a year and a half from now, but now is not the time.

#7931 SSB4 Final Smash IDEA just for fun

Posted by WeeYou on 16 June 2011 - 08:24 PM in Wii U Games and Software

But how will it work if all four characters (maybe more ) will be trying to break the ball at once and not all four of them will choose the same smash level. Unless its a global option. Smash level? 1,2,3

They aren't levels of Smash exactly. Each 1 is equal in that they each would have their advantages. Every player can select 1 of 3 possible final smashes at the character select screen. That will be the smash they will get out of the smash ball for that round. I believe that is the core concept here.

Marth:

Final Smash 1:His usual critical hit sword slash, 60% damage and all of that jazz.

Final Smash 2:Marth lunges towards the enemy, delivering a brutal combo of swings, dealing 90% damage.

Final Smash 3:Marth says "Lock on!" in japanese and delivers a deadly stab, rocketing the enemy off the stage and dealing 120% damage.

...And that's all I got.

Excellent. I'm just glad people are picking up the slack for characters whose backgrounds I'm not as familiar with. Although Fire Emblem has grown on me.

LUIGI

Final Smash 1: Negative Space

Same as Brawl

Final Smash 2: Poltergust 3000

Luigi pulls out his trusty ghost-vacuum and begins to suck in all players within a moderate range. While inside the vacuum, each victim takes 10% damage per second, and then gets shot out in the direction the player aims toward.

Final Smash 3: Snack Basket (Bowser's Inside Story)

Luigi pulls out a picnic basket and throws it into the air while opening his mouth and awaiting the rain of several snack foods. The screen focuses on Luigi, who the player must navigate to catch all of the food. If a good amount of food is caught, a newly plump Luigi leaps to the top of the screen and slams himself back down, sending out a shockwave that has the potential to instantly K.O. his victims.

Finally getting contributions from users other than myself. I loved both of your new Luigi smashes. They draw inspiration from different games and seem like really cool ideas!

Nice ideas dude!!! I totally agree!!!! :D

Thanks! I'm trying to think of what character to make a set for next, but I want to make sure it's a character I know well.

Mario (had to try and tackle this one eventually)

Final Smash 1:
Bringing back the old smash but with a wider area of effect, because let's be honest, it was damn near impossible to consistently hit people with the original.

Final Smash 2: Mario gets a mega mushroom while all enemies get mini mushrooms. The mushrooms' effects would last 20% longer than the normal amount of time.

Final Smash 3: Every enemy close to mario gets transported into a fast scrolling old school mario level. They either keep up with the scrolling screen or get KO'd. There would be several different fast scrolling levels to kept things unpredictable/harder for opponents.

Bowser

Final Smash 1:
Giga-Bowser is back of course. One of the best smashes from brawl IMO.

Final Smash 2:
Bowser raises his claw creating lava plumes and fire balls that streak across the screen causing large damage. Avoidable, but hard hitting.

Final Smash 3: Bowser swallows all nearby opponents are sucked into Bowser stomach and take massive but gradual damage from stomach acid (shown in a cutscene of sorts). The damage done is determined by how close the player was to Bowser when the smash was activated. The smash end by bowser belching out all players in a fireball, the direction of which the player can adjust for maximum KOs. (Inspired by Bowser's Inside Story BTW)

OMG!
That sounds like a heck of a lot of FUN!!! :D

It was fun to come up with! I especially liked the 2nd one. I'm going to dinner but I'll be back with more I hope.

Samus

Final Smash 1: The old smash with the OP beam. It already looked awesome in the last game, imagine that smash in full HD!

Final Smash 2:
Samus goes into the morph ball and flippers appear at the bottom left and right of the screen. The stage is temporarily turned into Metroid Pinball and anybody who gets touched by the morphball gets sent flying.

Final Smash 3:
Samus goes into her gunship and fires an all out assault. Uses a similar gameplay mechanics and view as snake's final smash from brawl.

OR

Final Smash 4: All of the other hunters from metroid prime hunters series appear on the stage as level 6 or 7 CPUs for 30 seconds. They only go after enemy units, leaving Samus unharmed. They can take damage like normal players and can possibly be knocked off screen. (although this is pretty ambitious because they would have to create movesets and character models).

You know, I think you're really right about this. People tend to think of RPGs as either very cartoon-y (or at least very stylized), or as RPG-lite (like Mass Effect, which really doesn't deserve the word RPG appended to its action genre category, IMO). Even something like Monster Hunter is far more action game than RPG.

I would LOVE to see a gritty, brooding RPG with tons of atmosphere and deep character development. I think it could be awesome.

Exactly. A whole new cast of characters that a mature audience can come to love. Mario speaking gibberish and prat falling doesn't appeal to the more mature audience out there.

KIRBY (my favorite character)

Final Smash 1: Bringing back the cooking pot final smash from brawl. This time with more interesting drops that come out of the pot.

Final Smash 2: Kirby sucks up any character in front of him. They take damage in his mouth until together they either struggle their way out OR Kirby can swallow all the characters outright. By swallowing, he gains multiple powers that combine and interact to form new bigger and better combo-powers. Perhaps Kirby could even be bigger for a short time after swallowing.

Final Smash 3: Multiple kirbys of all different colors and costumes come down from the sky on warp stars for 5 to 10 seconds. 10% of the time a giant kirby comes down the center of the screen on a giant warp star.

There you have it. Hope you like it.

A gritty RPG with mature characters could really give us something fresh and less predictable.

#7755 A Nintendo MMO

Posted by WeeYou on 16 June 2011 - 12:50 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, it wouldn't really be possible I guess. Although I wouldn't be completely opposed to Nintendo making just an MMO in general, but I'd rather they just brought us a fresh RPG experience.

#7752 Warioware Wii U

Posted by WeeYou on 16 June 2011 - 12:45 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I never understood this franchise, it just seemed like a game with a collection of weird mini-games. What is really appealing about it?

It's not just weird mini-games (although they are very strange). It's fast paced and fun. You'd be surprised how satisfying a 5 second mini game can be, and some of them are even outright fun despite their simplicity. I first fell in love with WarioWare when my friend let me borrow WarioWare Touched (I still haven't given it back almost 5 years later :D )

I'd recommend picking up a copy, renting, or borrowing from a friend. The games aren't for everyone, but for some people like myself, they're strangely addicting.

And do be sure to let me know if you pick up a WW copy and let me know what you think!

#7538 A Nintendo MMO

Posted by WeeYou on 16 June 2011 - 08:00 AM in Wii U Games and Software

It would be an all or nothing project. An MMO would take a lot of development time and it would require Nintendo to give the game long term support until the end of the WiiU's lifespan. If they could do it and do it well, Nintendo could probably make an awesome MMO. I'd really like to see one, but I don't know if Nintendo is willing to jump into the MMO scene.

#7532 Let's Talk IPs!

Posted by WeeYou on 16 June 2011 - 07:51 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I want to see Nintendo's take on an MMO type of game. It should be completely new as well. New characters and maybe a few Legend of zelda cameos as well.

What about an MMO that takes place entirely in the world of Nintendo. It would be crazy. Possibly crazy awesome, possibly crazy awful.

#7525 Let's Talk IPs!

It's seems like a lot of us want an RPG. Whether it's an entirely new one, or the long awaited return of the Mother series.

#7523 Wii U Sports

Posted by WeeYou on 16 June 2011 - 07:26 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'd like to see a wiiU sports. A sports game is always a fun and easy way to show off the console to any friends who come over (so it would be a good marketing move on Nintendo's part). That said, I think the short baseball footage we saw at E3 wasn't really new. It appeared to be mostly footage taken directly from wii sports baseball itself.

#7521 Pikmin 3

Posted by WeeYou on 16 June 2011 - 07:24 AM in Wii U Games and Software

My dad absolutely loved the Pikmin games. He always kicked me off the gamecube when he got home from the office. When I ran upstairs and told him they're finally making a 3rd game he said, "oh man, we're going to have to buy a new console and everything?" lol.

I agree, true co-op would be great, especially for my family. It would give my brothers and I a game to play with my dad that he arguably enjoys more than we do.
