#92551 Metroid ... the possibilities.

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 08 July 2012 - 02:13 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Your visor if I remember correctly.

It could have been for different visors or weapons. Its been a long time since I played Metroid Prime.

It was for different weapons. But Metroid Prime 1 and 2 was built around the premise of just one stick for movement and aiming, so the game wasn't really hindered by it.

On the topic at hand, I want a Metroid game that respects its legacy. You see, Metroid: Other M wasn't a bad game. In fact, I'd go even further to say that Other M was a great game. But as a Metroid game or even Nintendo game, it fell flat on its face. It was way too cinematic, the plot was terrible and had many plotholes, and Samus's character and actions deviated from the previous games. Gameplay was fun, though it was also hampered by hand-holding linearity, HUGE rehashes of previous content (mostly, the Vorash was an awesome boss, but no new power-ups is stupid), and the infamous first-person mode.

Looking at all of this, Metroid should take a step back and list these checklists: great atmosphere (something Other M lacked with cinematic cutscenes everywhere), amazing music (ties directly into atmosphere), an non-intruding story (the Prime trilogy had a story discovered through scanning by you), a fine balance of exploration and linearity (like Super Metroid: you can explore the world as you fit, but you need to do certain things before you can move on), and an extensive campaign to clock above 20 hours the first playthrough 100% (like the Prime trilogy).

Don't disappoint, Nintendo.

#92544 Bedroom?

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 08 July 2012 - 12:07 PM in Wii U Hardware

It would sit next to my PC in my bedroom, as the Wii U and PC will be the best way to go at an entertainment center.

No use putting it in the living room unless you have a HUGE TV in your house or don't have a good monitor for your computer. :D

Thank god for this.

#90798 Tons of new Wii U info - Nintendo Network, Achievements, Virtual Console, etc

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 29 June 2012 - 11:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

Good news for me, but I don't really care, as I'll be playing on my PC most of the time.

Then again, I will own just a Wii U AND a PC. I've always said this, but PC is infinitely better than Microsoft and Sony's consoles, with better exclusives (debateable, some don't like the old DOS or Win95 games, Civilization or StarCraft), better graphics (I personally don't care for this too much, but the folks with a 360 or PS3 always want the best graphics, so... yeah), better controls (don't like gamepad or keyboard + mouse? Switch to the other option), and is a better multimedia box than the other consoles (something Microsoft is eager to show to the masses for its 360).

Anyway, I can see myself owning just a Wii U AND a PC. Unless I put off getting a Wii U, I think I'll just get a Wii U around two or three years down the road, the same way I took with my Wii. But once I'll get my Wii U, I'll spend some time rocking Mario Kart 8 in my Wii U online, ready to kick you guys out of Rainbow Road.

#90493 Nintendo Network costing money?

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 28 June 2012 - 08:44 AM in Wii U Hardware

Steam is two times better than Xbox Live and PSN, and that is free. The question isn't if Nintendo Network can be compared to XBL or PSN (although that would be a great starting point), it's whenever it embraces why Steam is so freaking good: free, daily sales, large variety of games, solid voice chat, messaging, groups, etc etc.

Really, forget about paying for XBL when you have Steam for free. Come to think of it, the PC is better than the PS3 and 360 combined when it comes to online services. So start gaming on a PC with the definitive version of multiplats with the best controls, graphics, and online over the rundown versions on consoles, Wii U to be included. In essence, consoles should be used for exculsives, while the PC should have the online games.

In short, Nintendo needs at least a passable online service for those without a good PC, and at least 75% as good as PSN. However, gaming online on consoles isn't that great as compared to a PC. But judging on the eShop's huge leaps from June 2011 to now, I'm sure that Nintendo will bring out a better online service than the already-passable 3DS's. As long as it has the expected features of any online service (clans, voice chat, sales for games, etc), Nintendo Network will be just fine.

#64788 What part of the Wii U gets you hyped the most?

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 04 March 2012 - 04:49 PM in Wii U Hardware

Bro, I want the ability to read Nintendo Power on the NinTablet and plaaay the game while doin' it... LIKE A BOSSZ!

Seriously, though, I want the Nintendo Network to be added to the Nintendo 3DS and NOT SUCK LIKE BIRDO WOULD ON YOSHI!

#64144 Have you seen this fake Metroid Trailer

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 29 February 2012 - 06:23 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Holy crap. That trailer is AWESOME! If Nintendo (or Crytek or Retro... lol) can combine the graphics of Crysis 2 with the exploration of Super Metroid with the longevity and POV of Metroid Prime... I'll die a happy kid.

#57628 Capcom: What we saw last E3 is not a reflection of everything this console is...

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 26 January 2012 - 03:26 PM in Wii U Hardware

Soul Calibur 2 worked out fine.

Whoops, I meant on first-party fighters. But I had already talked about Nintendo-exclusive characters in third-party fighters. Although... I can't imagine Mario or Samus ripping Sub-Zero's spinal cord out for Mortal Kombat. Even though that would totally be bad@$$.

How can Nintendo Vs. Capcom work? Like Street Fighter? That would be redundant. Just put Nintendo characters as Wii U-exclusive DLC in Super Street Fighter V Ultra Hyper Mega Special Awesome 3D HD Edition. Nintendo fighters should not go beyond Smash Bros.

Anyway, I expect a full-on blowout on Wii U information, with 3DS being touched upon for the first twenty or so minutes. Then a load of info about the Wii U will be revealed: online capabilities, launch titles, and actual Wii U game footage. Get ready for a huge reveal and wakl away impressed.

#57292 What launch titles will you pick up with your Wii U?

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 25 January 2012 - 02:58 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Ghost Recon Online, Darksiders II, and Metro Last Light is my third-party fix.

Pikmin 3? Don't personally care about. I know it will be an amazing game, but its not for me. The new Retro Studios game would be f***ing awesome, though. I mean, Retro working on a new IP, Star Fox, or F-Zero... Man, the Wii U's launch may even eclipse the SNES and Dreamcast launch.

#56198 PlayStation 4 will probably be alot stronger then the Wii U and Xbox 720

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 21 January 2012 - 06:25 PM in Wii U Hardware

Sony's market has never been innovation, that's always been Nintendo's thing. The fact that the Vita is very much a standard handheld designed to play console style games shows that Sony has no intention of inventing some great new thing to revolutionize gaming, like the Wii arguably did. All that Sony needs for the PS4 is decent hardware and a good line up of games. I don't think they'll have trouble achieving either of those goals since they're a very big company that does infact have money to spend on these things. Plus Sony will gain third party support with PS4 much easier than Nintendo will with Wii U, simply because they have a much better history with developers. I don't think the Vita is doing as badly as people say either, seeing as it's only in Japan right now, where the PSP's entire reason for success was Monster Hunter which is now Nintendo exclusive. If Sony can get big western console games like CoD on the Vita, it could have much better sales over here.

WOAH WOAH WOAH THERE. CoD, Killzone, Uncharted, and Wipeout selling the Vita? Unless the customer is a diehard Sony fan (note I didn't say fanboy), will those games be moving PSVs? Those games are better off on a 50" TV screen than a puny 5" screen. Also, handhelds like the PSV isn't really helf in high regard compared to the consoles.

#40710 Late 2012 PS360 Games That Should Be For The Wii U

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 02 November 2011 - 06:02 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Guys, I said LATE 2012 PS360 games. Bioshock Infinite isn't coming Q3 or Q4, and CoD, Metal Gear Solid HD, Mass Effect 3, and SoulCalibur V aren't coming at that time either.

The point is to have as few late ports as possible, so gamers won't feel like the Wii U will be a 'port machine.' I mean, think about it. Why wait for the Wii U version of Batman: Arkham City when you can get it for the Playstation 3?

However, there will be the late ports, like the mentioned Arkham City.

#38632 Late 2012 PS360 Games That Should Be For The Wii U

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 25 October 2011 - 02:48 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Howdy.

Honestly, I really hope that Nintendo attracts the third-party games this time around (and not in a bad way, a la Wii). Some games I felt that should be on the Wii U is as follows:

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron - Fall 2012

The Wii U isn't coming out until after April 2012. If Fall 2012 ends up being November and the Wii U launches in a November, I feel that FoC can be a great game, especially after reading Game Informer and IGN's review of War on Cybertron. The gameplay of WoC looked absolutely amazing, and the team is hell-bent on making this game even better than WoC.

Grand Theft Auto V - TBA

GTA games take time to make. Look at GTA IV, where development started in 2004. If Nintendo wants to get the hardcore back, it needs to prove that it can support the 'hardcore' content. I don't know about you, though, but GTA doesn't seem to be my style.

Honestly, these were the only games I could think of. But hey, nothing I can't edit back if I missed some stuff.

#38591 Mother 4 Wii U

Posted by PrimedMetroid on 25 October 2011 - 01:35 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Mother / Earthbound hasn't been around for a long time (2006!). Many people only know who Ness / Lucas is from Smash Bros., so I could see a Mother reboot than a Mother 4, where turn-based strategy is turned into real-time strategy.

For me, this works better than turn-based combat as real-time combat is mostly more engaging than turn-based games. However, since Mother is big in Japan and turn-based RPGs reign supreme there (I think), I don't see it happening. It makes me sad, but a Mother 4 / reboot is unlikely.
