#29625 What's the point of next gen consoles?

Posted by aramon892 on 17 September 2011 - 09:38 PM in Wii U Hardware

Console's will not die out if they don't adapt. they will just bcome a niche market, JRPGs right now

You don't have to take everything I say literally down to the word.

#29602 Yo, what are the 5 best SNES games, in your opinion?

Posted by aramon892 on 17 September 2011 - 06:34 PM in General Gaming

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is great and yadda yadda, but what were your five favorite games?
Mine are:
  • Donkey Kong Country 2
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
  • Demon's Crest
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Discussion of games and lists is, of course, encouraged.

EDIT: Haha, I initially put 5 in the post title and ten in my post. Fixed!

Me:You got the touch! You got the power! When all hell's breakin' loose youll be ridin' the eye of the storm!

Fun fact: The soundtrack to the original Transformers was one of my first albums!

I particularly love Google's captioning service provided on YouTube.Posted Image

Consoles will have to adapt the same way smartphones have, or they'll die out. I won't subscribe to old ideas just because it's the way things were.

#29416 Naming

Posted by aramon892 on 17 September 2011 - 03:21 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Let's analyze this, shall we?
  • For the SNES, 'Super' was a selling point, because, hell... it's the word super.
  • For the Nintendo 64, '64' was a selling point. It's a reference to the graphical capabilities of the console.
  • For the Nintendo DS, 'DS' was a selling point. The DS was dual screen.
  • For the Wii, sticking Wii at the end of their titles was a selling point because Nintendo has a [expletive] excellent marketing team.
Now, when it comes to the Wii U:
  • 'U' is a letter. There's essentially nothing to sell.
See my point?

#29268 Yo, peoples.

Posted by aramon892 on 16 September 2011 - 08:38 PM in Introduction Central

The only Rare games I like were StarFox Adventures and Diddy Kong Racing, but I don't play Rare very much anymore since they moved to xbox.

Eh, I've never been able to forgive Ninty for ruining Dinosaur Planet, but DKR is a fantastic game! Rare's fallen off the map, but Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Viva Piñata are excellent games developed during the post-buyout era.

...I feel my introduction's been drawn out a bit by now.

Yo! Welcome to the forums. Give me a shout and if you've got any questions, blah, blah, blah.

#29256 Yo, can we contribute banners ("themes")?

Posted by aramon892 on 16 September 2011 - 08:26 PM in Site News and Feedback

I did say that I'm prepared to let other fandoms with a significant presence here have their own Wii U Ponies-like banner, but I'm not going to be designing one for them. But again, I'm worried that someone who produces a less-than-good banner may be offended if I tell them it's not good enough.

I'm willing to accept that risk and design a banner.

#28540 Yo, can we contribute banners ("themes")?

I think it would be interesting to see some more themes. I don't know if how flexible customization is on the board, but I may be willing to whip something up. Any guidelines?

#27868 Wii Showdown FINALS!!!: Results and Future Matches

Posted by aramon892 on 10 September 2011 - 10:30 PM in General Gaming

[...]just because of this, that doesn't mean they're officially HUGE letdowns.

They're as huge of letdowns as I say they are, because it's my opinion. You also haven't given me any reason to believe they're not.

#27520 Mario Kart 8/Wii U

Posted by aramon892 on 10 September 2011 - 11:18 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Really? Id say super circuit was...

I find that pretty funny; SS is my favorite Kart game. The gameplay and replay value really shine. A wonder, considering the limitations of the GBA.

#27511 I need some tips for a new TV

Posted by aramon892 on 10 September 2011 - 10:58 AM in The Café

It's a little hard to assess, seeing as I don't even have a price or size range to work with, though this TV has an excellent quality to price ratio.

#27502 Wii Showdown FINALS!!!: Results and Future Matches

Posted by aramon892 on 10 September 2011 - 10:44 AM in General Gaming

WHAT?!!
I see them both as awesome games from an awesome series. They aren't letdowns.

Care to elaborate?

Brawl's overhauled engine is considerably slower and not optimized for tournament play, which I look for in a fighting game.
Kart's item balancing is completely broken.

#27487 Super Mario Sunshine 2

Posted by aramon892 on 10 September 2011 - 10:01 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I know that, but he still needs to be in Super Mario Sunshine 2

That was really deep, brah.

Why are we all clamoring for a rehash sequel rather than trying to move this series in a different direction? It's beyond stale.

#27484 Wii Showdown FINALS!!!: Results and Future Matches

Both were pretty big letdowns in their respective series, but MKW had better netcode, so...

#27481 Mario Kart 8/Wii U

Posted by aramon892 on 10 September 2011 - 09:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think it's time DK is cut from cameo games all together, but I suppose that's not a realistic suggestion. Double Dash! might've been refreshing, but I'd prefer it stay a one-off... it was one of the weakest titles in the franchise.

In my opinion, there should be greater emphasis on timing and item balance than luck, a tactic no MK game has fully grasped.

Appreciate the welcomes, guys.

Banjo Kazooie and Tooie are among my favourite games of all time!
Have you played Nuts and bolts an if so did you enjoy it? I personally didn't, the lack of the old characters and the humour just wasn't what it was in the older games although maybe I'm just wearing nostalgia goggles.

I agree. Some of Rare's definitive humor is definitely left intact, and the game is fine as it is, but such a radically different type of game just didn't fit Banjo. I feel fans would've been more welcoming if they'd just created a new IP around that style. I can't say I hated it, but it's certainly not what I was expecting from a B-K game.

Don't ask why I'm making that face. You don't know what I've been through.

#27293 Your most powerful Zelda memory.

Posted by aramon892 on 09 September 2011 - 10:40 PM in General Gaming

I remember getting to the first bosses in Link to the Past, the Armos Knights. My conversation with my mother proceeded as such.
"MOM!"
"Yeah, hun?"
"COME HERE AND LOOK AT THIS BOSS!"
She would then walk in, look at the screen, roll her eyes, and walk away. This continued to happen through each subsequent boss fight.

Hey there, name's Andre'. I'm 18 years old and have quite a bit of forum experience; I hope I become a valuable asset to this community!

Challenging retro games are my niche. I've owned just about every console since the Atari 2600, and will take the classics over a game on a next-gen console any day. My favorite console is the SNES, though I have high hopes for the Wii U!

I'm a massive fan of the Donkey Kong Country trilogy and Rare's interpretation of the character. Donkey Kong Country 2 is my favorite game, among:
  • Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
  • Sonic CD
  • Battletoads
  • Mega Man 3
  • Conker's Bad Fur Day
  • Banjo-Kazooie
  • Ico
  • Tetris Attack
  • TLoZ: A Link to the Past
  • Half-Life
  • SMW 2: Yoshi's Island
  • Contra
  • Earthworm Jim 2
  • Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
...The list could go on and on.

I dig graphic design and it's my other true passion.

I can be a nice guy, but I don't take spit from anyone, so don't bring it.
All right, time to meet some folks! Oh, and feel free to add me on Last.fm!
