#284404 The Minimal Difference

Posted by Robotic Sunshine Commander on 07 May 2014 - 07:06 PM in Wii U Hardware

As I was recently watching the Call of Duty Advanced Warfare trailer that was game play taken from an Xbox One, I realized how minimal of a difference in graphics there is from ghosts. If so many people can complain about how Wii U is underpowered and it cant handle anything but games with a simple style then tell them to look at Mario Kart 8(which was confirmed to play at 1080p native 60 frames per second) and ask yourself why ports on Wii U look different compared to their counterparts on Xbox One. The answer is, lazy developers. If developers gave the Wii U a chance and played with the market a little, giving some extra elements to the games they port, then the third party developers will have no problem selling on Wii U. The difference in hardware is not enough to create a difference in visual fidelity this time, Nintendo knows what they are doing with the hardware of the Wii U and their games prove it. Developers who take the time to learn the hardware are lucky because it is a good machine to create new ideas on with a niche market. The game pad also proves this point too, which is Nintendo's note to the new generation to prove that the difference in power of the hardware among all three major consoles is not enough to sway someone from buying a certain console.

The point in me rambling on about graphics and minimal differences among consoles and game devices in general has to do with what the majority of consumers talk about. The list of games coming to PS4 is so slim and trim compared to Nintendo's this year, yet people are still excited about PS4, not so much Xbox One though.

If Nintendo were to just advertise towards the real gamers and not just family based ads on TV they will be saved from the stigma that their console is stale and lame. Which shouldn't exist in the first place considering how solid the Wii U is. As time goes on and the financial reports keep rolling in it's easier to see that the sales of Nintendo's hardware are slowly rising, as Microsoft's is plateauing and Sony is pretty much riding off of the new console hype which always dies about a year in.

Games sell consoles over their life, graphics sell consoles when there are no games.

#284400 Insider leaking E3 stuff: Mass Effect, Fallout, Mistwalker Xbone game and more

Posted by Robotic Sunshine Commander on 07 May 2014 - 06:48 PM in General Gaming

Yeah, this guy is full of such crap. He stated early on in his feed from what I see:

https://twitter.com/BalrogTheMaster I say this as a guy who used to WORK at Nintendo. Ganer expectations have changed and they need to wake up.

— Ahsan Rasheed (@thuway) https://twitter.com/...088774582882305

Yet, his twitter says he's a doctor. I'm the son of a a guy who changed careers so I grew up with my Dad going through Med School. To put it bluntly,

THERE IS NO BLOODY WAY HE WORKED AT NINTENDO AND IS A DOCTOR.

Let's look at his picture. I'm horrible with ages, But I'm betting he's under 30. If we assume he graduated at 17/18 like most students, here's his trajectory.

17/18: Go to college

21/22: Get into Med School

25/26: Get into residency

27/28: Finish residency

Now, this is assuming he's taking the normal amount of time for becoming a doctor. However, what's not being included in here is A) Time, which Med school students have like NONE at all to be having another job, and B ) His statement that he worked at Nintendo. Nintendo wants 2-3 years of tech experience and they only hire the best. So pray tell me, where the heck did he find time to get a masters in Software(Which IIRC is what you want to be taken seriously by Nintendo), get a job at Nintendo then quit said job, enter Med school(This is highly unlikely as you need a strong Bio component to get into Med School IIRC), finish residency,  and become a doctor by the age of 30?

TL;DR version: This guy is full of so much hot air that we can float a city above the clouds using his body.

EDIT: I did some snooping. According to his facebook, he was born in May 1986. That places him at like...28 right now. This just adds further to the crap he's spewing.

Just another bullshoot artist, you're right.

#253786 Wii U OS Redesign Concept

Posted by Robotic Sunshine Commander on 30 October 2013 - 10:02 AM in The Museum

That kind of thinking is what stopped the Gamecube from being taken seriously, despite its killer hardware at the time.

It was perceived as "kiddie," "lunch box for elementary school," etc.

Nowadays, not only the hardware design, bu the sofware UI lead perception as well.

Wii U UI looks (and SOUNDS) very childish.

Sure, you don't want to alienate kids. therefore, it wouldn't be wise to go the route of Metro UI for example.

But you also want to present everything in the best light possible for modern crossover appeal.

If this was 2006 even, the UI would be considered modern.

But now, it looks ancient.

The layout is not bad, though eShop and the Wii U Menu could do well with a modified, updated sidebar.

And all the random shapes are more than annoying, breaking visual continuity, like there aren't part of any theme at all, just a random thought.

It seems that the graphic design/UI/UX team is either resistant to or incapable of change in terms of keeping up with the times.

At some point, I imagine the UI will be updated. But it won't be until the OS itself gets the bloat down quite a bit more.

If this UI were on any other console, it would be ridiculed heavily.

The fact that it is deemed "somewhat normal" or "the Nintendo way" on a Nintendo console only means that people expect less from Nintendo (in terms of UI/UX, not games). that should not be the case.

So the Wii U UI looks childish? pfff.

I'm pretty sure a bunch of jumbled random a** boxes is a little more "kiddie" as you would call it.....

Oh, and atleast the avatars can actually be used in action. UNLIKE EVERY OTHER PLATFORM.

hey maybe it's just me....oh wait....it isn't lol.

As you see here, all of your friends and randoms appear to greet you with insight to other games and inform you on their activity...Seems like a flawless and very social design to me.

The Xbox One dashboard is full of ads and animation themed icons/ boxes. Bland background, sloppy layout of settings and other apps . it just doesn't compare.

What about the ps4's interface? It seems as if everything is layed out quite alright, but again there are limited options here. With the string layout it seems awkward to access apps unlike with the second screen gamepad on Wii u that can be used toward improving the experience with everyone you love to play games with. The Wii U's UI was rough at first, but now that everything is somewhat laid out in front of you from the get-go i would have to say it is the cleanest OS we have seen for next gen platforms..

#250866 The Nintendo Uboat, universal appeal to developers everywhere!

Posted by Robotic Sunshine Commander on 10 October 2013 - 06:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

As a lot of you may know, Nintendo has finally realized what they have to do in order to acquire as many third party development studios as possible to bring the world's best game franchises to Wii U and bring consumers on board for the best experience you can find in the new generation of console gaming. Some may say otherwise, but the hardware to bring the best games to the platform is present, going by reports of legitimate Nintendo licensed developers and NOT from others looking from the outside in, because of the scared approach considering the somewhat beginning to mid year sluggish sales. EA, one of, if not the biggest third party publisher on Earth has stated that they will bring support and optimize their engines when the time is right and the sales are booming. This is quite a smart move by EA, and many other developers are watching Nintendo right now and the Wii U especially. After this holiday we will see the true future of Wii U. Just give it after the beginning of next year and the system will have plenty of third party games. Watch them sell better than on the Xbox One too, maybe even the PS4. It's all up to Nintendo now. They should just make it quicker, easier, and cheaper to port games to Wii U.

#249595 Was that just the fall update?....

Posted by Robotic Sunshine Commander on 03 October 2013 - 06:36 PM in General Gaming

Same, I also really wanted in game notifications, hopefully it will only be a matter of time.

Adding the friends list to the main menu was probably the first real step towards these features.

#249589 Was that just the fall update?....

Posted by Robotic Sunshine Commander on 03 October 2013 - 05:40 PM in General Gaming

It was the update, but don't worry, we still have the Winter one.

And I have no idea what you're talking about assuming you sound down in the dumps with it, those features had to be pretty hard to implement, especially the account system being accessible from a PC (that's still not useable yet)

No, I'm not dissapointed, but i wanted more chat features....i figured it was a little obvious that it is hard to directly talk to people when trying to set up games...

Just update the damn Wii U chat so you can-

-access chat through home menu

-have 1 on 1 chat

- have group chat, up to 5 people(anymore is too much)

- video chat during menu/ out of game services.

- make the chat a pop-up box, so it has easy access.

There you go, Nintendo.

Wii U chat is video only unless you block the camera.

The Nintendo/turtle beach branded headphones are the ones to buy.

In the future they will add a lot of chat features, maybe even in the fall update. :)

IGN has become so blind, they did an impression of the xbox one controller and said the d-pad , which is a patent of nintendo's in the first place is similar to the 4 section versions on the PS3 and PS4 controllers......OH OK.....Dpad.jpg

#239138 Would you buy a Legacy Controller (gamecube style)?

i'm sick of hearing about the gamecube controller. The Gamepad and Pro controllers are superior in every way. People need to learn new play styles.
