#84620 Ubisoft's ZombieU

Posted by ArnarFB on 05 June 2012 - 04:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Did u learn about the new zombie U features??????? It turns me off a bit... They posted that in my country.

You know why it says " HOW LONG CAN YOU SURVIVE" ?

Because there is NO saves, No checkpoints... If you die, you turn into zombie and the game ends...  Here is the bizarre part.. You have to start over by creating a new character.... Each character got a bag with survival tools and weapons... If you died and turned into zombie... Your new character will have go all along and find,  kill your old character!! and claim the bag with survival kits and then continue even further!!!   So the game is TRULY a survival game hahahahahaha...  It sounds bizarre.. is it.

You don't have to create a new character or start the game from the beginning, so to speak.

It's a one-bite-kills game. Which is "realistic" if you think about the zombie thing. Isn't it like that? One bite and you're out of luck. Coming up, zombie-you? Wait, now I get it... ZombiU...

When your current character dies, you start from the safe house as a new character, get new missions (or continue what your old character was sent out to do, I guess, somehow the game has to progress). You have minimal amount of things on you, if any. You encounter your old zombie-you, kill it and go through his bag in search for items you knew you had, like guns, ammo, information... something. I think it gives the zombie story a more of depth. In Resident Evil and many other zombie games, why didn't they turn into zombies after they got bit? So it gives it more depth to encounter the older character, to know that this guy was a "living person" just minutes/hours ago, not just a braindead zombie.

I read the IGN description of the demo and it got me really interested. You don't encounter zombies very often or in big hordes (Left4dead), but when you do, it's terrifiying. You kill them, go through their belongings in search for anything and when you do so, you have to look down on your U-pad and then in fear, look up to the TV and look around you. It makes sense. The U-pad is the bag, the TV gives you view of the surrounding. Search in fear. Don't get all comfy though, there might be a zombie sneaking up on you while you go through anothers' bag.

What was it? That P-100 thing?

It better be... I think the whole Nintendo fanbase is in shock. We need something to excite us after that snoozer.

#84369 My impressions about Nintendo E3

Posted by ArnarFB on 05 June 2012 - 09:45 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm empty. I'm bummed out. Nothing there made me excited. Everything was either known before or underwhelming.

Some stuff was cool and nice to see. But man, I was annoyed as hell over those dance and singing games. I counted every second of that crap, every second was a waste of the hour. Too much casual nonsense and guess how many casual gamers were watching this? Aboooooout three? Family cuteness.

Nothing that made my old, inner gamer go "F-YEAH!". ZombiU was interesting, but I needed more. NINTENDO needed more. If Nintendo die-hards are disappointed, how are they going to win over the other gamers, who most likely watched this and were all "wtf am I watching? this is it?".

DOWNER!

#83998 Wii U exclusive Zombie game announced!

Posted by ArnarFB on 04 June 2012 - 03:41 PM in Wii U Hardware

I guess (hope) that we'll see gameplay footage tomorrow. The trailer was full CGI and judging by the low quality footage in the Direct yesterday, I'm holding back all excitement for now...

#82719 Developer: “We Won’t Be Working On Wii U Due To Its Complexities”

Posted by ArnarFB on 02 June 2012 - 02:54 AM in Wii U Hardware

Mitch Dyer is an Associate Editor for IGN's Xbox 360 team.

End of Discussion.

Was about to post this. The people behind this crap are IGN Xbox editors, who have raged against Nintendo in their podcasts, making fun of them at every given chance and downtalked the Wii, Wii U and Nintendo in general.

Do not take this rubbish seriously.

#82565 WiiU CPU Revealed by Patent: "Enhanced PowerPC 750" ?

I'm going with "way too good to be true... until proven otherwise"

#80141 Controller update

Posted by ArnarFB on 22 May 2012 - 02:25 PM in Wii U Hardware

I'm sure the square button next to the power button is the magical screen switcher. It wouldn't make sense to have it on-screen, like in the zelda demo. Just press a button and it probably flips through a few sets the developer or user had pre-set. Some games might have pre-set screen switches, others might allow the user to set what the screen might display and then switch between a few custom settings.

Examples:

Setting 1 = Main game with HUD on TV, map/items on controller
Setting 2 = Main game on TV, HUD, items and map on controller (clean TV mode, I will cry tears of joy if this becomes real)
Setting 3 = Main game with HUD on controller, map/items on screen (+ button needed to switch to item screen here)
Setting 4 = Main game with full HUD on controller, TV not used (full streaming mode)

Some of these things he listed seems plausible, but some seems completely bull. The Xbox 8s GPU better than the Wii Us? Then why is Epic complaining about the Xbox 8 and PS4s specs while only praising the Wii U? AND A 6GHZ DEV KIT?!?!?! I don't know of any computer out there that runs that much, or if it even needs it.

That's pretty powerful. Maybe the Wii U is the beginning of Skynet... once it gets self-aware... and maybe Reggie is T-800?

Errr...

The sync button is on the rear of that E3 '11 controller... so that square button on the front of the leaked version maybe isn't the sync, like some have suggested?

Edit: Some have also guessed its for switching screens, of course.

Just a matter of how the tech is optimized for the U. Specs alone don't tell the whole story I think. I just hope this console is enough future proof that it won't die off like the Wii did. So far the rumors/facts are pretty comforting, although it's clearly not world shattering powerful, which we kind of don't need.

Tech guys out there... Radeon 6770... Awesome, good, mediocre, old, meh, crap?

#79247 RUMOUR: Controller redesign!

Posted by ArnarFB on 19 May 2012 - 02:09 PM in Wii U Hardware

I still prefer it where it was before because start and select aren't really used in games nowadays unless for a pause menu or something like that so it's not used competitively or anything so the change really doesn't do anything in my opinion. They probably should have left it where it was.

But what if it's a programmable duo now and not pre-set, like the black and white buttons were on the Xbox controller? Could come in handy for many types of games... but I seriously doubt the function of them has changed from the Wii.

The +/- buttons are far better placed now, you can actually reach them without removing your hand from the Upad, which you had to do before.

The wideness is weird though. Wonder how it affects reaching the screen during gameplay.

If you guy's notice the cord that is plugged in the back of the controller is green and white.

Nintendo and Microsoft co-op confirmed?

I guess you're talking about that "I saw something green and white" :)

The squares are hatches. When you press a secret button, the hatches open and two small projectors are lifted out. Hologram controls are real, people!

#79101 RUMOR: Retro's New Game to be "Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga"

Posted by ArnarFB on 19 May 2012 - 05:36 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm not too sure how this can work, two rather different franchises from A to Z. Only thing in common is space, guns and spaceships I think. But space is vast enough for all kinds of creatures to exist so why not haha

#78836 whats that in the top right?

It's just pointing out the obvious. Nr. 2 is a television, in case the person looking at the picture submitted with the patent doesn't know that he or she is looking at a drawing of a television.

#78759 Wii U console redesign will be shown at E3 2012- IdeaMan

Posted by ArnarFB on 17 May 2012 - 10:27 AM in Wii U Hardware

Im not sure what else nintendo cud do, its still true to the wii and simple and clean in design, it wud hide nicely in anybodys front room or bedroom which is what people want. I remember when i saw the ps3 first edition and thought "wow that is far to biig and bloody ugly" nobody could fit it anywhere so it was always just sat on the floor looking a bit seperated, i think small plain and simple is best, after all it works for apple!

If they wanted to retain the simplicity and stylish design of the Wii (and retain its design features and look) yet somehow make it a little more "hardcore"-looking, they could maybe do something like this

Red?

#78705 Wii U menu

Posted by ArnarFB on 17 May 2012 - 01:37 AM in Wii U Hardware

Thank you guys. Glad you liked it because I enjoy making stuff like this :)

I updated the last one a little bit. Added a little reflection on the media player and "My score" in the info bar.

I hope so. The Wii U looks so dull and boring, the original Wii was rather dull but still stylish I guess, but the Wii U is like a watered down version of that. Not a fan of it at all. So bring on the new version please!

#78645 Wii U menu

Posted by ArnarFB on 16 May 2012 - 02:56 PM in Wii U Hardware

I used the second Wii U menu concept I did as a base and made a "simple menu" system for it... I think.

Maybe a bit PS3ish on the start menu, but when you move your Wiimote cursor over the text, it goes gray, press it and it illuminates and out pop the different submenu items. They'd hover in the air and the background text blurs out. If you'd press a submenu text and hold the button, you could theoratically move the text around and the other submenu items would move in "spherical motion" with it. Think about a simplified Minority Report...

So lets just roll with it... Minority Report goes into custom folder system with movable folders and then into media player

1. Here we have the "simplified Minority Report". Imagine you're using the Wiimote here and you hold A over "Internet Settings" and move your arm around. The rest of the settings submenus roll around in a spherical motion, you push the Wiimote towards the screen and "Internet Settings" goes deeper into the screen while for example "Audio settings" comes closer. If you'd move "Privacy settings" up into the left top corner, "Controller settings" would move down into the right hand corner. Just a fun little thing to mess around with.

Posted Image

2. Now we're going to play some music. (I added the "Pictures" menu at this stage, just to point that out.)

Posted Image

Here we have a folder view, you can see a button up top that could switch it into list view or even icon view, I dunno... You could arrange your folders any way you'd want. Lets listen to some metal...

Posted Image

Here we have some artists. Some folders have been customized, others have not. I want to listen to Mastodon now.

Posted Image

They've released five albums, here I arranged the albums in line and in order. Every album has its cover added to the folder. Lets go to listen to... The Hunter.

Posted Image

So here we have a little media player with track listing and a little info about the album. I paused it, so I wouldn't scare ya with the loud music, since I've got the volume turned all the way up :)

Posted Image

Anyways, just a fun little thing to imagine. Enjoy (or maybe you won't)

#78203 Rumor: Xbox 720 final name is Xbox 8

Posted by ArnarFB on 13 May 2012 - 03:17 PM in General Gaming

I personally am not a fan of "Xbox 8" or "Xbox infinity". If it's "infinity", what's after that? They're giving the darn thing names that are going to be hard to build up from. The one after this next one? "Xbox infinity Plus One"?

But then again, Wii isn't exactly a "badass" name either, same for Wii U, but at least it can be built on from although a weak name. I just wish Nintendo would give the U a brand new name instead of going forward with the Wii name.

But Xbox 8 is confusing...
