If new paint is all this game has going for it, than there isn't much hope in this game selling that well at $60 if you can get the same game for far less.
I did get a kick out of watching it at 2X speed via html5. SoGood.gif

I believe Nintendo will be like Pepsi. They will be here forever.
Nintendo's more like Coca-Cola: always the same, never changing for the demographic. Sega's Pepsi! ![]()

I'm sorry, but I call fake on this one. 'Excursion'?? Doesn't even have a good ring to it. In fact, let me show you why this new subtitle doesn't add up.
If you are gonna whip up a good rumored sonic title, at least try to make it sound like one. ![]()

Nice to see I'll have even more time to play through pikmin 2, and record pikmin 1. ![]()

Simply beautiful. Its a nice callback to the euro boxart for pikmin 2. If we get this one, it will be quite different from the usual "action based" boxart we get which isn't a bad thing at all.

I don't think spending a week on Sega Forums is a good measuring stick for analyzing the Sega/sonic fanbase as a whole. There are good people among the fanbase, both on those forums and outside Sega forums. I don't know the experience you had over there, nor am I aware of what goes on on that site these days, but I'm quite sure there are just as many sega fans that enjoy nintendo content as there are here.

Desert Punk, on 30 Mar 2013 - 08:02, said:Wii vs gamecube is a difficult subject really. The gamecube was had much greater multi-format support and was a technical tour de force for its day. I would have to say one of the greatest things about the wii is is gamecube compatibility. I've actually used my wii more for gamecube games than wii games. Zelda windwaker was utterly amazing. Considering how poorly the gamecube sold it was clearly a fantastic opportunity for wii owners who may have never experienced gamecube games to actually play those games.
The trouble with the wii is many of the top developers had already moved away from the wii to develop for the 360 and PS3 and therefore the wii seemed to get the top nintendo games, a handful of good third party games but mainly a large amount of casual games. The gamecube got a huge range of fully optimised games from top developers even though it wasn't a commercial success like wii. Typically when a call of duty or medal of honor game was developed for xbox and ps2 the gamecube would get a version too of the same game where as with the wii it got far less conversions and because of the power difference they were often cut down versions missing important features.
The Gamecube was a truly terrific console with amazing software support and the last Nintendo home console that competed technically with its competitors. One of the greatest things about it was its fantastic loading speed. It almost seemed like it used cartridges. It would load games so quickly.
That would be because of its memory heiarchy.
I remember reading something from a 3rd party developer stating that it wasn't that the Gamecube wasn't appealing since it had good graphics, but the storage medium was tiny (the mini discs the Gamecube was known for), hence why it never got games like GTA for example. Sad really, since it is the only time in recent memory that Nintendo competed, spec wise, with other companies. Mind you, It was never Nintendo's intent back then, but its spec sheet was much closer than the Wii was.
Too early to tell for Wii U though.

Well Back in my day!... ![]()
On a serious note, just try out some of the old classics out there that you missed out on (there are a lot considering how old you are) You may be surprised what kinds of old gems you may enjoy during this brief drought that the Wii U currently has. Check out some of the old classics on Gamecube, see what gems are available on Wii (they are around. Honest!), and if you can, get down on some good ol' old school gaming with the 16 bit consoles of the SNES, genesis, and N64. This sort of thing isn't new for Nintendo. The games will come in due time. Nintendo Consoles are like old trees, they start out small, but come back to them in a few, and they will be blossoming aplenty; especially Nintendo's handhelds! ![]()
We shouldn't fret, this 3-4 month lull is a time to catch up one what you've been missing. A time to prepare for Pikmin 3! I...don't know what else to put here.
When I was a young lad in 2003 or so, I had my good chaps with 007 Nightfire on the gamecube and--
random guard: Ok, That's enough! Move it along!

I'm not super convinced of the NPC hardware myself, but am curious what they will do with two gamepads.

I'm sure once E3 rolls around all will become clear (hopefully). Nintendo has given us a small peak of this plan B, and come June, we will see more of that plan for the rest of the year and beyond as usual. Sony has shown their peak for this year, Microsoft is rumored to be showing their peak as well in a month or less. E3 2013 will be a year where every console maker shows their full hand proposal, but most of the general details will already be out of the bag before then.
How Nintendo does this could in a keystroke change the forecast outlook for their Wii U business.

When you all say it is too early for a price drop are you talking about now or in 7 months when the PS4 comes out. I was refering yo 7 months from now.
Also, bringing up the 3ds price drop only strengthens the price drop argument because it worked.
I also like the value added ideas. But in stuff like this having a lower price point will be great for the holiday.
All is really a guess really. I have had my Wii U since launch. I would not fell burned. As an early adopter of electronics it is par for the course.
The price cut for the 3DS worked then, but Nintendo can't make a bad habit out of it, otherwise they will be training their customers to always expect a price drop within 6 months to a year. That mentality will make early sales for future nintendo systems even worse. I understand the reason you're kinda going for with value and a little price cut to give sales a shot in the arm. But a console business is a marathon not a sprint. You can't be quick to fire all your moves in one go at the first sign of trouble. If you don't have confidence in your own platform, how will your customers have it.
NIntendo has made all the moves they can make while taking minimal loss. Tone thing they need to do now, and the only thing they need to do now is add more games. Software sells the hardware. Without an ever growing lineup of games no price cut in the world can save a system from a short and quick death to the bargin bins.
The PlayStation 4 is sitting pretty now, but in all honesty, its going to be more expensive than the Wii U at launch; the specs clearly make a case for this. The lineup, is not gonna be nearly as diverse as people may think, and will struggle for a while as Nintendo simply adds more games to its more affordable next gen platform. The Wii U will be fine, not need to panic and get hasty.
The 3DS was special case, but there is no need for alarm to press the panic price cut button.

The Wii U will succeed, no doubt about that. Every gen since the Gamecube because has said Nintendo is destined to fail, and they've always been wrong. With the PS4 coming soon, this will probably be the "slap to the face" Nintendo needs in order to reinvent themselves; they need to reevaluate their plan.

So let me get straight, Nintendo is planning to make a newer model of the Wii U that not only will compete tech-wise with the PS4 and 720 but also be compatible with the 3DS, right?
