#152760 HELP HELP! D:

Posted by Jgreenwell on 27 December 2012 - 06:27 PM in Wii U Hardware Help

Ok, so I was on Miiverse, then I selected close. It started going to the Wii U menu. While it was doing that, I put in the Nintendo Land disc. I waited a while, and realized nothing was happening. My gamepad screen was white. Oh, I forgot to mention, my input was on the TV input, so I didn't see what was going on on the TV screen. Anyways, after it did nothing for a while, I changed the TV input to the Wii U input to see what was up. And it said "No Signal." So to summarize, I exited Miiverse, put in the Nintendo Land disc while it was loading, and it said no signal. So now I'm stuck here with a blank white Gamepad screen, and the TV saying "No Signal." Oh, and it won't turn off. I'm scared to unplug, but that seems to be the only option. Im kind of in a serious pickle. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

*Update*
I grew some bauls, and unplugged it. Plugged back in, and, it's bricked..

JK LOLOLOL IT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE
Anyways thanks :D

#149846 Zelda U?

Posted by Jgreenwell on 19 December 2012 - 10:34 PM in Wii U Games and Software

oh God, I hope not! easily my LEAST favorite Zelda game of all time. When I got my Wii, first thing I did was download OoT and MM from virtual console. I played OoT all the way through to the end, and loved it as much as I did back in '98! Majora's mask? Probably played for about a half hour. Haven't touched it since. Just a bad game. Nothing to do with Zelda continuity. Just did not feel like a "Zelda game".
I would rather them concentrate on an all new Zelda game. If they are going to remake one, then let it be the greatest of them all: Ocarina of Time!!

While MM is VERY different from the entire Zelda franchise, it is usually a fan favorite, and is well known for is creepiness, and bravery to try something new. And uhh, OOT has been remade like three times..

#149841 Majora's Mask U?

Posted by Jgreenwell on 19 December 2012 - 10:27 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Ok, so I was just browsing the interwebs, and I stumbled across a kewl video.. WAIT, FLASHBACK..
Remember when that Zelda Majora's Mask Wii U teaser was posted on YouTube, but it was fake? FLASH FORWARD. The video I found claimed to be "Clock Town Day One" theme for the "upcoming remake of Majora's Mask for the Nntendo Wii U," as it said in the description. It sounds cool, but, I'm really sure it's fake. This guy only has one other video, and his username is "NintendoMusic SneakPeek." I dunno, I just felt like sharing because it sounds cool.

What do you think? Do you think Nintendo will eventually remake Majora's Mask? And if they do, do you want it on the Wii U or 3DS?

*UPDATE 12-20-12*
He posted another video, "Clock Town Day Two."

#144804 Nintendo Land LOZ Battle Quest

Posted by Jgreenwell on 06 December 2012 - 07:51 PM in Wii U Games and Software

ER. MER. GERD. I just played TLoZ Battle Quest on Nintendo Land, and, *IMO*, it is like, literally the best thing ever. First of all, the control is SO responsive. Not in a bad way, either. Your first missions start out a little easy and repetitive, but as you advance the challenges increase. It slowly introduces new enemies and their weaknesses. Like there is a spider thing *I think it's a Skulltulla* that you can't attack on top. You have to wait for it to THRUST itself towards you, and then hit it. It'll fall on its back, and you can just slash at it. Epic. It also has lots of awesome references to past Zelda games, with some remixed tunes. My only nitpick is the Deku Tree is purple :/ WTF. So, in my opinion, Zelda Battle Quest is one of the superior games in Nintendo Land. What are your thoughts?

QR codes to share your coin arrangements would be nice at least.
Did they do that much even?

Negative. Good idea, though.

If you have New Super Mario Bros. U, chances are, you stumbled upon the Coin Map Editor, in Coin Battle mode. It's fun for five minutes, but personally, I think they could have done much more. I think Nintendo should have expanded on this great idea. If they want to show us the capabilities of the Wii U, then why not let us make full levels? Or at least more then add coins to bland pre-made levels. Like I said, I think this mode is very fun, but it just left me wanting more.

#133598 NSMBU: The Best Mario Game Since Mario World?

Posted by Jgreenwell on 19 November 2012 - 11:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

While Super Mario Galaxy 2 was a masterpiece and personally my favorite 3D Mario Game, for this topic, I meant best 2D Mario game since Mario world. IMO, the 2D Mario and 3D Mario games are a different series, and better in their own ways.

That's horrible!! The update took me over 2 and half hours and I was afraid something would of happened in between the update. Did you contact Nintendo??

Yeah, I'm sending them the console tommorow morning, and they'll either fix it, or send me a new one by Friday. The only good thing is its free of charge :D

What's your opinion on New Super Mario Brothers U? Does it successfully blend classic elements with new elements? Is the game challenging and fun enough to make you want to keep playing? Does it feel lazily slopped together, or carefully and creatively crafted? Is it another masterpiece like Super Mario World, or another disappointment like New Super Mario Brothers 2?

My power went out during the update, and it bricked. :(

#133102 Bricked :/

Posted by Jgreenwell on 19 November 2012 - 01:28 AM in Wii U Hardware

I believe you. Sorry this happened to you.

Just standard operating procedure. So many things get passed off on the 'net that aren't honest.

There are ways to test that as I have asked for on behalf of this forum.

Though those were not provided, that doesn't mean it's false. Just not "proven."

But a power outage only makes sense and there's nothing the customer or the product company can do.

It just would have been better for Nintendo to really advertise the possibility of this problem and to encourage users to have the wii u and modem plugged into a UPS system during a critical update. They've had so many Nintendo directs, why not one for this possibility?

But there are other reports that aren't legit. Just wanted to follow due diligence. No disrespect intended. This is a great community which you'll enjoy highly. I hope you get your wii u exchanged quickly.

Thank you. This is actually pretty sad, lol, not really sad, but I was really looking forward to it. Now I have nothing to do for my week off
:(

#133083 Bricked :/

Posted by Jgreenwell on 19 November 2012 - 12:41 AM in Wii U Hardware

While neither video is evidence of brickage (one merely shows a download in progress and the other simply shows a gamepad not connected, which can happen for many normal reasons), ESP without the console being shown at the same time or receipt. You must understand that your recent account setup and very few posts would cause anyone to question. No offense meant.

If this is legit, I feel bad for you. Power going out has been known to cause surges which have fried pc gpus, modems, etc. and if you've ever updated firmware in anything and had power go out, the frustration is tremendous. But it's part of living in an imperfect world. Nintendo isn't at fault. Nevertheless that would be a big time bummer.

I would see if you can return it to the store for exchange when available.

Have to agree there.

I understand wanting to polish things up. But the user should never have to download so much just to get advertised functionality.

That would be the ideal situation for the customer.

My guess is Nintendo would never do that due to the amount of code involved, the functionality it has, and perhaps concern over trade secrets being exposed in not having it fed direct to console.

I know I've only made one other post and I'm not really trustworthy, but I assure you this is legit.

#133057 I can't be the only one -- download animation freeze

Posted by Jgreenwell on 18 November 2012 - 11:51 PM in Wii U Hardware

My friends Wii U froze in the middle of updating. It's been frozen, for like 4 and a half hours. It won't turn off. He won't unplug it because he's afraid he'll brick it. And my power went out during MY Wii U update, and it got bricked. Ah, Nintendo.

#133052 Bricked :/

Posted by Jgreenwell on 18 November 2012 - 11:37 PM in Wii U Hardware

I awoke at the crack of dawn, and drove by my local GameStop. I waited in the parking lot for a half an hour, until finally GameStop opened. I busted into the store, luckily being one of the first people in there. I bought the Wii U (Deluxe Set), a Pro Controller, and New Super Mario Bros. U. I successfully marched out the door and into my car. I drove back home, went back to bed for a couple hours, and then began unboxing my Wii U. I plugged everything in, and synced up my Gamepad with the console. I sat back as I began entering the system settings. Then it asked me if I wanted to update so I could use the Internet and Miiverse, etc. I did. It, took a while. Infact, after a half an hour, it barely had any progress at all. Being the smart person I am, I thought it froze. I reached for the power button, but then I remembered turning something off while it's updating will not end well. So I sat back in my chair again, and searched on my iPad "Wii U Firmware Update." I then learned that the update was nearly 5 GB large, and could take up to four hours. I sighed, and dawdled into the other room. I plunked myself infront of my computer, and started playing Minecraft. An hour passed, and all the sudden, my computer screen went black. Infact, the fan had turned off. And the light. My exact thoughts at this moment were, "Oh, SHEIT." I dramatically stood up from my chair, and ran into the room with the Wii U. The TV screen was black. And the Gamepad said that it lost connection with the console. Within a couple seconds, the power was restored, and my lights turned back on. The Wii U had a red light, which means it was off. I turned on my TV and frantically pushed the power button on the Wii U. The red light changed to blue, which means it was on, but there was nothing on the TV screen. I tried rebooting the console, Gamepad, re-syncing, changing channels, plugging wires into different spots, nothing. The Wii U was not showing up on the TV, and the Gamepad kept saying "Could not connect to the Wii U console. Please move the Wii U Gamepad closer to the console. Then turn the Wii U Gamepad's power off and on again." At that point I just said FU*K IT and called Nintendo. Tommorow morning (Monday 11-19-12) I will be sending the console to Nintendo, they will either repair it or give me a new one by Friday (11-23-12). NINTENDO, I AM DISSAPOINT. Why couldn't this whole update just already have been in the Wii U? And before you begin updating, why didn't it warn you that it would take a couple of HOURS? And once you begin updating, why is there no option to cancel? And if your power goes out during the update, then WHY DOES IT BREAK TEH SYSTEM???? I can imagine kids getting a Wii U for Christmas or something, and getting impatient during the update and unplugging it, and bricking it. I really hope they fix this before Holiday Season.

#128010 What did you do while waiting for Wii U?

Posted by Jgreenwell on 12 November 2012 - 12:58 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Ah, the day is approaching. In less than a week, we will be privileged to experience the mastery in video game art, known as the Wii U. But the Wii U was announced a long, long time ago. When you first heard about it, you were suspicious as to how it would work. But in the past couple months, you learned more about it, and you were excited. But then you realized, it wasn't out it. You had to wait. And finally after many days of brutal torture, it's out. But what I want to know is what did you do to kill time while waiting for the Wii U? Did you feed your addiction by watching many YouTube videos of the Wii U? Did you play games you haven't played in a while? Did you seek out online Nintendo haters, just so you could verbally beat some sense into them? Or something else.

Wii U Hands-On
